CUC 8.5 UM integration with Customer's Exchange 2010

Hi Everyone,
Requirement is to integrate CUC 8.5 with customer exchange 2010 for unified messaging solution. Question is does customer need to enable MS-Unfied messaging service in their exchange for cuc integration ?
Rest of the required configurations are understood but only thing need to confirm about UM Service must be enabled on Exchange or not?

No.. you don't need the MS UM stuff.
Exchange UM is basically the telephony interface and storage of voicemail all provided by Exchange.
When you use CUC, it uses Exchange for storing a copy of the voicemails only; it doesn't require any Exchange UM components.

CUC 8.5 UM integration with multiple AD Forest

Hi Guys,
I need to do a unity connection 8.5 UM integration with exchange 2003 and 2010 in two different AD Forest. AD 2003/exchange 2003 is in one Forest (Account Forest) with 2003 mailboxes on a corporate network AND AD 2008/exchange 2010 is in second Forest (Resource Forest) with 2010 mailboxes in the CLOUD. There is also a trust relationship between 2 AD Forest. As per unity connection 8.x SRND, we must create separate unified messaging services account (AD account) for each Forest.
Given the above scenario, I think we need 2 AD accounts, one on AD 2003 (for exchange 2003 mailboxes) and second one on AD 2008 (for exchange 2010 mailboxes). However, in this configuration if mailboxes are moved from 2003 to 2010 we will have to manually disassociate the unity connection subscriber mailbox with unified messaging service account (AD 2003 account) and re-associate it with unified messaging service account (AD 2008 account), is that correct? or is there a way to automate this if the mailboxes are moved to 2010 unity connection automatically detects the change?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Cisco WAAS moibile integrated with Symantec Backup Exec 2010

Here customer requirement is to take backup of opened Database file .fdb
(Microsoft Dynamic Navision) integrated with WAN optimization (Cisco WAAS
mobile).
Problem is Cisco WAAS mobile is not optimizing Symantec backup process when backup job is running.
Please find attached files (WAAS mobile accleration status with symantec
backup process).
Customer is using Microsoft Dynamics Navision (ERP application).
WAAS mobile client is connecting and file copy is accelerating, but
symatec backup (beremote.exe) and Navision (fin.exe) processes are not
accelerating.
I added above processes in WAAS mobile server's acceleration list.
Please advise if any changes has to made in WAAS mobile server.

Hi Prasad,
According to the screen shots provided the fin.exe process is bypassed due to Low Latency. From the admin guide this means:
Bypassed : Low Latency. The latency between the client and the application server is less than the latency threshold, which is 10 ms by default. This threshold may be modified on the Connection Settings tab on the Configure > Clients > Networking page.
Also, I see SERVER.exe process is going to the same server or subnet as fin.exe but is bypassed due to Pre-Existing connection.
Bypassed: Pre-existing Connection. When WAAS Mobile is started after other applications, the existing TCP connections associated with those applications will not be reset unless the “Auto Reset Connection” property has been selected for the process in the Accelerated Processes table, and hence, these pre-existing connections will be bypassed.
Lastly, I see bermote.exe is listed as Bypass Reason Unknown in one of the screen shots.
Bypassed : Reason Unknown. This message will occur when an attempt to reset a TCP connection associated with an application that has been configured to have these connections be automatically reset (via the Accelerated Processes table on the Configure > Clients > Acceleration page) fails.
Is this client actually accessing a server that is remote for these first two processes?
For the last process, did we try to first exit the application in question and all the associated processes (beremote, and any other processes that may get started with this application), then start the WAAS Mobile client, then finally start the associated process/application?

CUC 8.5 MWI with Single Inbox Exchange 2010 seems slow and sometimes unreliable

Hi,
I have some issues with MWI for Single Inbox Exchange 2010 + CUC 8.5-HA (latest). When leaving voicemails, sometimes it takes up to 10-20 seconds for Exchange to deliver MWI message. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. CUC mailbox shows that the MWI should be on, but the Exchange Inbox has no unread voicemails. It's either an issue with Exchange not delivering notification (doubt it), or CUC not working.
The message delivery into Exchange works perfectly fine. MWI ON is fast (but that's because CUC turns it on right away). It's EWS syncing back to CUC is very flaky.
Has anyone else had issues and found a good way to troubleshoot it?
On Exch2010 in event viewer I see events like this:

When you mentioned "I installed the unrestricted version the service responsible for turing off the MWI is not installed.", this service is actually the Connection Notifier service, which exists on all systems. This is the service I was under the impression you were referring to with regards to MWI. Now that you're referring to something else, it changes the situation a bit.
The Connection Jetty and Connection Exchange Notification Web Service both should exist regardless of Restricted/Unrestricted. Something must have happened with your installation if the Connection Exchange Notification Web Service does not exist. If you're in the US, you should be running the Restricted version of the software, so it's still in your best interest to move to the proper version of the software.

Palm Pre will not sync with EAS on Exchange 2010

I looked through the large EAS thread with the error "Unable to validate incoming server settings." Tried all of these issues and none have worked for me.
Exchange version is Exchange 2010 running on Server 2008 R2; Tried without domain and it gives me "bad username and or password". Tried with domain/username and it gives original error. All Windows Mobile phones sync no problem and certificate is current and valid for server. I have installed the certificate on the phone manually as well.
Passes all exchange connectivity tests from Microsoft as well.

Due to some Exchange and Active Directory issues (with remnants of old Ex 2003 server), we are going to migrate Exchange 2010 Mailboxes and public folders to a new Exchange 2010 Sp3 server, which is created in a new AD forest.
I would really appreciate if someone can direct us to the best way to migrate mailboxes and PFs with their permissions, to new Ex 2010 SP3 server. We have around 30 mailboxes, and 300 GB of mailboxes data, and 200 GB of PFdata.

Hello,
Firstly, you need to creat forest trust between two forests.
If you want to move AD user account and mailboxes, please use ADMT and PrepareMoveRequest script.
If you want to migrate public folder, please export data to PST file and then import pst file to new server.

We have tested virus protection with creating EICAR, but the question is, is there a way to check if SPAM Works fine, and how to?

However, based on my knowledge, use the EICAR antivirus test file is the only built-in method to check whether the Anti-Spam configured correctly.
You can try to send some test spams to your Exchange server for testing, even if this is a stupid method : )

Issues with Lotus to Exchange 2010 Invites

Hello,
I am having an issue with 1 or 2 users that happens when they are cc'd on a meeting invite from lotus notes. When these users are CC'd on an invite, the invite goes directly to the deleted items. I have checked for any rules in Outlook and did not see any
rules for these users at all. I also checked them using OWA and there were none. This happens even if Outlook ios closed and the user is only logged into OWA. The first user that experienced this is not using a mobile device at all for accessing email so it
does not appear to be related to a mobile device. We noticed this began right after migrating the user from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, and believe it is related to that.

Before that, we can still check some settings on Outlook to see if that may be related. Please try the following steps:
Microsoft Outlook 2007
From the Tools menu, select Options.
Select the Preferences tab.
Select the Email Options button, and then select the
Advanced Email Options button.
Make sure the Delete meeting request from Inbox when responding checkbox is not selected.
Select the OK button on the three dialog boxes to close them.
Microsoft Outlook 2010 & 2013
Click the File tab, then Options, and then select
Mail.
Under the Send messages heading, make sure the Delete meeting requests and notifications from Inbox after responding checkbox is not selected.
Click the OK button to close the dialog box.

Uc500 integration with ms lync server 2010

Hi,
I’m integrating UC500 with lync server 2000, I’ve achieved to make UC500 users to call lync users and vice versa. But lync users are not able to dial pstn or external numbers through UC500. When I debug UC500 on dialling from lync I can see the incoming call exactly as it should be, its also hitting the correct dial-peer but the call drops and does not go through.
Can you help me on this please?

Please attach "debug ccsip messages" and "debug ccsip error" output for the failed call together with the UC500 configuration.
If you use ISDN connection to reach PSTN also include "debug isdn q931".

Synch not consistent with ipad and Exchange 2010

I am a member of the Apple Consultants Network. I got a call from a Cleveland based organization about synching issues.
This is not my expertise but I wonder if something simple is being overlooked.

Our Executive Director has an iPad 3 (iOS 6.1.2/3) and an Android Razr Max (4.1.2) that are experiencing the following issues (for quite some time):
Some calendar items not syncing properly on both Outlook and iPad. An external organizer will delete an appointment but the appointment does not update. If appointment is deleted in Outlook the iPad does not reflect the change or vice-versa. Not all her Contacts are displayed. Some Delete items are not syncing properly
Our Exchange server is 2010 with service Pack 3. We have an UC SAN SSL that we installed that containsmpo.noaca.org<http://mpo.noaca.org> (MX) and owa.noaca.org<http://owa.noaca.org> (EAS/autodiscover).
I am npt the person to try to fix this other than to suggest something already not done and someone they would like to hire to fix the situation.

You can subscribe an edge server in a site to multiple HUB servers if it is(Exchange 2007/2010) and CAS & Mailbox Combined together if it is Exchange 2013 servers.
You can subscribe a 2007/2010 edge to 2013 Exchange CAS & HUB combined servers. This can be done vice versa as well.
You can import the Edge Subscription file and run EdgeSync on a standalone Exchange 2013 Mailbox server, or on a server where the Mailbox server and the Client Access server are installed on the same computer.
Note : You can't import the Edge Subscription file or run EdgeSync only on a standalone Exchange 2013 Client Access server.
Your configuration seems to be fine
For the telnet error things you can check
Disable windows firewall on 2013MX1 if it is enabled.
Also disable any antispam if you have enabled on 2013mx1 and see the results.
Also check if port 25 inbound/outbound is open to 2013MX1 on server EDGETMG01 on TMG as well as windows firewall if you have it enabled

Can't manage distribution group from Outlook with Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013 mailbox

Hi All,
In my environment we are using exchange 2010 that contains the distribution groups which has been migrated from exchange 2003 environment .On that one of the distribution group is having an problem for the user who had an access to manage DL'S via outlook
but he can't able to manage it.When we add the new user to manage same DL and the new user tries to manage the DL via outlook it happens without any issues.
issue occurs only for the user who has already have the manage access permission on the DL where the group was on exchange 2003 before migrated to exchange 2010.

We have done all the settings defined on the above mentioned link but still we are facing the issue.
In addition to that , we have forcefully upgraded the DL too by using the below mentioned command.

From your description, I would like to verify if the problematic manager user is a member of security group. If yes, this issue will occur. In Exchange 2010, distribution groups can't be managed by groups, only individual users can manage groups. But in
Exchange 2003, it is possible to use groups to manage a distribution group.

Force email download in HTML or text format on iPhone/iPad with ActiveSync (Exchange 2010 SP3)

When an HTML email with attachment is received on iPhone/iPad (iOS 8.2),
it can be downloaded in three cases of
intermittents ways :
- The full message is downloaded in HTML format
- The message is download in text format and a
"Download full message" link is displayed
at the bottom of the message
- The message is displayed in text format,
but continues to download the rest of the message.
When the download is complete, the message is displayed
in HTML format.
This behavior is intermittent. The Apple's support
says it is a particular configuration on Exchange server
that causes this behavior.
I want to know if there is a way to fix
this problem and force download email
either in text or HTML format ?
This problem occurs on iPhones/iPad
(iOS8.2) with ActiveSync account (Exchange 2010
SP3). It occurs also with Outlook.com account.
On the Exchange 2010 SP3 server, The MaxEmailBodyTruncationSize
and MaxEmailHTMLBodyTruncationSize settings are
unlimited in ActiveSync policies.

We can configure Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policy Properties to force device download HTML or text format email.
Use the EMC to view or configure Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policy by the following steps:
In the console tree, navigate to Organization Configuration >
Client Access.
In the result pane, click the Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies tab, and then select the policy you want to view or configure.
In the action pane, click Properties.
Under the Sync Settings tab, check or uncheck the box
Allow HTML-formatted e-mail. Select this check box to enable e-mail messages that are formatted in HTML to be synchronized to the mobile phone. If this check box isn't selected, all e-mail messages will be converted to plain text before synchronization.
And use this command to configure whether allow text messaging on the mobile phone. The Exchange Enterprise Client Access License is required to change the values of this setting.
Set-ActiveSyncMailboxPolicy -Identity PolicyName –AllowTextMessaging $True
