CUCiMOC and CUCiLync desktop sharing and conferencing
Hi Guys,
Can someone please advise when we install CUCiMOC or CUCiLync does it also disable the "desktop sharing" feature of MOC/Lync client? I have read few blogs on this and getting conflicting answers
Also, my understanding is CUCiMOC or CUCiLync can still use CUCM (DSP's in ISR) for adhoc audio conferencing, however for Web, Video and scheduled audio conferencing we need to implement Meeting Place and Webex...is that correct?
Thanks
Aamir
Hi Aamir,
desktop sharing should still be available, It has nothing to do with it. You should disable any audio or video conferencing solution on Lync in order to have the better experience with CUCILync. This does not mean it will disable desktop sharing

[Lync 2013] - Desktop Sharing and taking control
Hello,
In Lync 2013 when someone shares his/her screen and I'm taking control of the shared screen I have the following problem:
Everything works fine when I'm in control with other person's desktop, however when the Lync IM/Sharing window looses focus and then the focus is regained by clicking on the shared desktop, all the input is frozen in the Lync IM window.
for example:
I take control of shared screen, do something on the shared desktop, then I open something on my own PC (the Lync window is loosing focus at this moment), then when I click on the shared screen inside Lync IM window to continue controlling the remote desktop
any input to the Lync window is "frozen".
There is some error sound comming everytime I click in the Lync IM window during this time - just as there was some invisible popup that is blocking interaction with parent window
to solve this I have to once again loose focus of Lync IM window and then regain it again.
This is on many machines (Windows 7 64bit / Windows 8.1 Preview 64bit) using Lync 2013 32bit with and without updates
I'm using multiple monitors, but it's the same on a single display - just open Lync IM/Sharing window in one half of the screen and open notepad on other half (don't minimize windows, just switch between them during sharing)
Best RegardsHi Bartek,
Did the issue happen on Windows 7/8 32 bit using Lync 2013 32 bit?
Try Clean Boot to disable all non-Microsoft services and start Lync again:
How to Clean Boot:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Since the OS is 64 bit, please remove Lync 2013 32 bit and install Lync 2013 client 64 bit and apply the latest update then test the issue again.

Desktop Sharing and Application Shareing White List BlackList Possible
Does anybody know if its at all possible to Blacklist or whitelist applications into Application sharing, so that users can only share certain ones ?
so in short Application whitelisting, either by 3rd party Apps or but server extension.
Lync 2013 and 2010
thanksExtremely sorry about that, but maybe you don't like users sharing their entire computer; after all, when they do that everyone in the meeting sees everything
that happens on the shared computer, including such things as a Microsoft Outlook "toast" popping up to announce a newly-received email. Because of that, you might prefer to limit users to sharing just a single application; that way, people in the
meeting only see the activities that take place within that application. In that case, just set EnableAppDesktopSharing to SingleApplication:
Set-CsConferencingPolicy –Identity global –EnableAppDesktopSharing SingleApplication
When you do that, the Desktop option will no longer be available under the Share menu. -
Jabber for Mac 9.2.2 and BFCP Desktop Sharing
I don't see where BFCP is supported using Jabber for Mac 9.2.2/Media Services Interface.
Can Cisco confirm?Cisco SE confirmed "no BFCP for Jabber for Mac 10.0 using IM&P 10x, this feature is not committed"

How to block file transfer and desktop sharing in Lync 2010 for Fedrated and Guest Users
Dear,
Can anybody guide me how to restrict desktop sharing and file transfer for federated and Anonymous logins in Lync 2010.
I have tried to apply this policy through “Conferencing Policy”, but this gets applied to all users including corporate users.
Please help in this.Hi,
As my knowledge, the CsFileTransferFilterConfiguration and setting in confercing policy are used to block transfer file between users. So if the policy is applied to user, the user would not transfer file with anybody. Since all Federation and Guest
Users access thought the Access Edge service, here is a update that helps to enable the control of the file transfer through the Access Edge service.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2621840
The update helps to define the file transfer policy between users on the local area network and users that connect through the Access Edge server in a Microsoft Lync Server 2010 environment. It helps protect Microsoft Lync Server 2010 deployment against
the spread of the most common forms of viruses with minimal degradation to the user experience.

Support for Desktop Sharing with Jabber Windows and without CSF
Hi,
is there a official Cisco say, that Desktop Sharing with Jabber is only supported with the Desktop Softphone mode (CSF-Device)?
Somebody has a link? Or is it supported with the normal deskphone? Which version of jabber and CUP&IM?Hi
I can confirm that Cisco Jabber 10.5 supports desktop sharing with both CSF and Desktop mode. It also supports Conference desktop sharing, and desktop sharing through regular chat (No active call)
We are running CUCM 9.1 and IM/Presence 9.1, so our platform is not the newest.
You will need the new media driver as well, Cisco Media Services Interface 4.1.2.8049.
Here is a link to Cisco's release document for 10.5

Screen sharing and file sharing not working on LAN
This is not a Mavericks specific problem since it existed before I upgraded to Mavericks. I have a LAN that consists of 3 MBPs and 1 MacPro.
Local screen sharing and file sharing works fine on all of these computers except for one MBP. From this MBP I am able to connect to all of the other computers for screen sharing and file sharing. But I can't connect to this particular MBP for screen sharing or file sharing from any of the other Macs.
This MBP shows up in the left hand side column under "Shared" on all the other computers. But I am unable to make a connection from any computer to the problematic MBP. I get the message, "There was a problem connecting to the server "xxxxxxxx". The server may not exist or is unavailable at this time".
I have tried toggling off and on screen sharing and file sharing with no effect. One probably pertinent strange thing that I notice is that under the Screen Sharing set up the green button next to "Screen Sharing:On" is green. But the message under it states:
"Other users can access your computer's screen
at vnc://johnmacbookproretina/ or by looking for “John MacBook Pro” in the Finder sidebar."
The problem is that my computer name is "John MacBook Pro" and the LocalHostName is "JohnMBPr.local". I believe that at some point in the past the computer name and/or LocalHostName was "johnmacbookproretina".
Similiarly, under File Sharing I am informed:
"Other users can access shared folders on this computer, and administrators all volumes, at “afp://johnmacbookproretina” or “smb://johnmacbookproretina”."
I would appreciate any help I could get to resolve this perplexing issue. Thanks.
JohnI've finally been able to solve my own problem.
File sharing and screen sharing on the problematic MBP was being blocked by firewall rules that had been set up several weeks ago when I had installed a trial version of DoorStop X firewall software. I had previously trashed the app when the 30 day trial ended. I did not realize that the software had left a set of firewall rules in the Library/StartupItems folder. Among other things, the rules were set to deny access to the computer on the ports used for file sharing and screen sharing. Once I trashed the DoorStopStartup folder in the StartUpItems folder all the connection problems resolved with a computer restart. -
i had the same errors, went to my settings on my macbook air, enabled sharing then back into itunes and enabled home sharing and it worked
osx 10.8.3Success!
I solved my problem by changing guest account passwords. I tried to keep things simple by using the same guest password on both computers. This however allowed FS to log on to TP without guest password for some unknown reason. My logic would tell me that having the same guest password would allow both computers to log in without password but this wasn't obviously the case. I guess Windows has its own logic that I can't figure out or this issue had something to do with different language setups. Anyhow my shares work now like I want them to work. -

What port number for Desktop Sharing using in Lync Server 2013 and Lync Online
Dear All,
My environment using Lync Server 2013 and Lync online on Office 365. I don't want my user using Desktop Sharing feature. then I need to know what port number for Desktop Sharing using in Lync Server 2013 and Lync Online.
I will deny this port on personal firewall each client.
Thank you for your advise.Hi,
I'm not sure you'd be able to do this with ports without impacting other application sharing features such as Q&A, Whiteboard, Poll etc - I'm pretty sure they all come under the same umbrella of ClientAppSharing.
Ordinarily you would create or modify your conferencing policy to restrict sharing to single programs only using a cmdlet similar to below;
Set-CsConferencingPolicy -Identity "Global" -EnableAppDesktopSharing SingleApplication
This would disable desktop sharing but enable users to continue sharing other single programs. If you want to remove that functionality too, then replace the 'SingleApplication' parameter with 'None'. Then users won't be able to share any programs either.
This is the correct way to do it as the icons will be greyed out for the users. Doing it your way, they would still be able to click them, and it would throw an error - this will lead to a lot more support calls and people assuming a service is broken.
I hope that helps some.
Kind regards

I just got an HP Stream 8 tablet with Windows on it. I have a Mac desktop running 10.6.8. I set up Home Sharing by making sure both had the same version of iTunes and I authorized the new tablet (desktop already was). (I haven't exceeded the number of authorized computers.) I would like to take some of the playlists I have on my desktop Mac and copy them into iTunes on the tablet. I hooked up the tablet to my desktop with a USB cable but wasn't able to get it to copy. I do not have WIFI....is there a way to do this by just having the tablet hooked up via the USB cable? If so, can someone please talk me through the steps necessary to do that? Thanks!
Did you erase the machine and set it up with your accounts or is the previous user still on it?
Please note that Mountain Lion is far from being an app, it is your Macs operating system.

Lync Application and Desktop Sharing - Restrict remote access/Telnet
I have a customer and they are paranoid about using Lync application/desktop sharing which could potentially enable remote users from getting into their internal IT systems. They are asking if we could restrict application/desktop sharing specifically
for appls with remote access capabilities (e.g. Telnet, etc.)? Anyone could share any information relating to this? Thanks! We can’t do this with Lync Server natively. Maybe you want to vote idea at

File sharing problems with T500 and T410 and a desktop all running XP Pro SP3
Others have had similar problems with what appears to be an overriding of Windows file sharing by Access Connections.
My three computers, printers and internet modem are networked and working fine both wired and wirelessly except that while the desktop computer in network places can "see" shared folders on the Thinkpads, access to them is denied. Access to desktop shared folders from the Thinkpads works fine.
All the usual sharing settings have been checked and verified by Microsoft support; it does not so far have a solution.
Could this issue please be addressed more thoroughly and/or suitable documentation referenced? I have read the blurb about Access Connections but can't make a lot of sense of it.
ThanksWhen you use the Desktop top menu bar Go/Connect to Server and enter

what happens ?

Apple have not yet, so far as I can tell, posted a downgrade from 7.0.3. Can anyone state that this is because it corrects the bugs which cause problems with OSX 10.3.9 (and possibly iLife4) or is it because they haven't got around to it. In other wo
