CUCM 8.6.2 alternative ringtones

I have a number of 7940 and 7960 phones and they are failing to pick up the alternative ringtones that are available on the tftp server.  I have checked the Ringlist.xml and the DistinctiveRingList.xml file and they are both pointing to the correct .raw files.  In researching this issue I keep reading that these phone when running in SCCP should be able to locate either a .cnf or .cnf.xml file of the format SEP<mac address>.cnf or .cnf.xml and I'm unable to locate these on the tftp server (CUCM primary).
The only ringtone available on the phones is drums1 and drums2.  The CUCM has been recently upgraded to 8.6.2 but I'm not sure of the previous version.  Should I be able to see the .cnf files on the tftp server or should the phones at least be creating one?  I feel that due to the fact the the phone is not able to create the .cnf file may be the reason that the ringlist.xml is not being read and the .raw files are not available to the users.  I'm probably just missing something simple so if anyone can assist I would be very greatful.
Thanks
Scott

Thanks for that, I didn't read your response correctly.  I'm still stuck as to why the phones are not able to see the additional ringtones that are available.  From what I have been able to find, during the tftp process there is an address setup that tells the phone where to find these additional tones, but for the life of me I can't work out where in the boot process a file or directory is loaded that tells the phone where to find the ringtones.  As I mentioned before, all the extensions for this site were imported into the CUCM via BAT during a system upgrade.
Any Ideas will be appreciated
Thanks
Scott

  • Find out Ringtone of phone through callmanager

I recently upgraded our callmanager environment from version 8.5 to 10.5 about a month ago.  Today a user came to me saying that the ringtone changed on the phone since the upgrade and wants it changed back.  He does not know the name of the ringtone and will not sit at his chair cycling through all of the various ringtones.  We still have the old publisher available with the tftp and callmanager service turned off.  My boss will not allow me to turn on the tftp service so I can do a super copy of the users phone to another cisco 7975 phone to find out what the ringtone was.  Is there a way through callmanager to find out what ringtone was set to a certain phone?

There is no way from CUCM you can tell what Ringtone a user had selected or restore. The only way is I think you have to manually select it.
If your old ringtone is not in the list, then you may need to look into your ringlist.xml file.

  • Ringtones of ip phones in CUCM 9

    Hi!
My question is, how can i add all .raw stored in the TFTP File Management of CUCM to all ip phones?
I have only the two default ringtones, chirp 1 and 2.
    thanks.

    Hi
After you find the Ringlist.xml to can edit it , you have to catch it . You can go to SSH your CUCM and type the below command
    admin:file view tftp Ringlist.xml
you will show all ring list which you have after that you capture the output then past to a notepad. then you can add your new ring list as the below
                    Analog Synth 1
                    Analog1.raw
                    Analog Synth 2
                    Analog2.raw
                    Are You There 1
                    AreYouThere.raw
                    Are You There 2
                    AreYouThereF.raw
take care the ring should be between Ring and /RIng to show on your phone. After that save the file as xml , then upload to your CUCM , restart your TFTP.

  • Alternative platform for CUCM other than VMware

Guys I was just wondering if there is another platform that I could successfully install CUCM ( Home-Lab purpose) on other than VMware. I was looking for a permanently free / open-source solution.

  • PTT - another alternative with CUCM using CCME?

As I understand it, PTT is supported natively in CCME, but it requires an external application like Berbee's PTT for CUCM deployments.
Has anyone found a way to leverage a CCME box to support PTT for 7921s that have been registered to Call mgr? I'm thinking it probably won't work since Call control would be separated from the PTT application in that instance, but I thought I would ask anyway. Thanks.

  • Softphone Registration Error - Jabber 9.2.5 with CUCM/CUPS 8.6

    All,
I'm having trouble getting my softphone feature inside Jabber 9.2.5 to work with my CUCM/CUPS 8.6 deployment.  I have the CCMIP profile setup and user associations in place.  The show connection status indicates a status of Not Connected with an error of "Connection error.  Ensure the server information in the Phone Services tab on the Options window is correct.  Contact you system administrator for assistance.   The CCMCIP address is correct.
    Any ideas?
I verified the service is running in CUCM.  The Jabber client appears to never have attempted to register to CUCM.  Status of the endpoint in CUCM is unknown, unknown.
    Thanks!
    Jason

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  You can determine what CUCM server "name" the server is trying to use by doing a TFTP GET of the device config file from a workstation with access to the TFTP server.
An example from a windows box is
    tftp -i GET .cnf.xml
This will pull a copy of the device's config file to the pc.  You can then open it with any text editor and look for the CUCM name.  It is most likely the hostname of the subscriber in question.  If you can't resolve the name by itself (no fqdn) then the reg will fail.  At least it did in my case.
You can change the server name to IP by browsing to System > Server in CUCM.  Change the device in question name to the correct IP.
Alternatively you could correct the name resolution issue.

  • How can I make ringtones show in my Tones tab rather than the Music tab?

I just bought my first iPhone 4 and uploaded a bunch of music ringtone files to iTunes and changed the default preference to display the Tones tab. However, the ringtones all got added to the Music tab rather than the Tones tab. I have a number of questions:
I'm used to other phones where any music file can be set as a ringtone for a particular contact. Is this the case for iPhones too?
If so, how can I set a ringtone for a contact from these music files?
If not, how can I get the ringtones to appear in the Tones tab? I assume that I would have to do that to sync ringtones to my iPhone ringtone "folder".
Is there another alternative? I read on the forum something about dragging ringtone files to the iPhone. Not sure I understood that! Does this mean I can drag a music file from the Music tab to the iPhone icon and have that file end up in the iPhone ringtone "folder"? If it ends up in the Music "folder", how do I access it to set it as a contact ringtone?
Thank you for any light you can shed on this.

It would be good if this was made a user-defined Option (Tools -> Options -> Tabs) in the next update of Firefox rather than having to install an add-on. I currently keep Firefox open to view my Accuweather.com add-on running or because I know that I will be returning to Firefox in short order. (I do close Firefox if I have visited a sensitive or secure site to ensure better security.) Every time I want to go to a bookmark, I must open a new "(Untitled)" tab before selecting my bookmark using the keyboard (I'm a dedicated keystroker; it's much faster for me). This way, when I close the website, I have an "(Untitled)" tab displaying so that Firefox doesn't close. Why can't I set an Option parameter that will result in me not having to go through this? Alternatively, allow users to set an option to keep Firefox loaded and open in the event only one tab is open and maybe if only one Firefox application window is running (I avoid having more than one Firefox window open as much as possible). I've addressed this last issue in the past but have seen no change when one closes the last tab in a Firefox window. As general practice, I would think that Firefox would run better if options, like I have described above, were part of the Firefox application code and not given to needing an add-on which may cause instability in Firefox as they have in the past, even with author verification and certification.

  • Ringtone problems...

I am running iTunes 7.4.1.2 But I see no ringtone icon in my music. I looked under view -> view options, but there is no Ringtone item to check. I went to the iTunes store and saw that "Hotel California" is a song that can be made into a ring tone. I own that song so I right clicked on it and chose "create ringtone" The first time I did this it made me log on to purchase the ringtone and I believe it said it would take me to something at the apple store I would have to read and agree to. I never go there. nothing happened.
Next I tried to creat the ringtone again. This time I get a dialog that says "This song cannot be made into a ringtone, "Hotel California" by Eagles can no longer be made into a ringtone"
    What is going on?

    And those problems are...?
It's really difficult to post any solutions if you don't detail your problem. Please post back with details as to what additional problems you're having and I'm sure someone can help you. Alternatively, if you have an Apple Store in your area, take your iPhone there. They'll be happy to assist.

  • Creating Ringtones

Ok so the idea of paying twice for a song to make it a ringtone it aganizing enough and quite frankly bs. but when i buy a song and itunes says that it can no longer be made into a ringtone i get pretty ****** off. how do i know what songs can an can be made into a ringtone before i buy and is there another cheap alternative to forking over 2 buck just for a freaking ringtone like maybe up loading some that i make myself?

Not sure of the issue you had and sorry to hear that.
As for making your own ringtones, there are tons and tons of threads here on the subject, and even other sites dedicated to it (Google is your friend).
In the beginning when they offered ringtones finally wife and I both did buy a couple, but since then, we just make our own for free with many of the step by step instructions found in many threads here or on the web.

  • I updated my phone to the 5 and it didnt sync all my ringtones that I purchased on iTunes.  Help! :)

I updated my iPhone to 5 and it will not sync all my ringtones I bought from iTunes.  Help!
    Thanks!

The YouTube app is not included with iOS 6. Google offers their own app for free via the iTunes Store, though they do not yet have an iPad version. The iPhone version will work, though not at the full screen size. There are also third-party alternatives, one of which may suit you better. Jasmine is one that a number of people are recommending. You can also use the mobile version of the YouTube site
    http://m.youtube.com
which you can save to your home screens as an icon. If your videos were bookmarked in your Google account, you should still be able to access them that way.
    Regards.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

  • Troubleshooting Ringtones

I can't get the ringtones feature to work with iTunes since it says that it requires me to connect to the iTunes Service Disclaimer but then when I go there there's no option to accept the disclaimer to allow me to start creating ringtones. What am I to do?

iTunes ringtones is down at the moment (probably due to high demand on the server). You get the screen, but no option to proceed further. Try later.
    Alternatively, try this:
    1. open iTunes and log in
    2. go to the store and choose account
    3. click on reset warnings
    4. locate a song you've already purchased that has the bell symbol indicating the ringtone option and click buy.
    5. a pop up box will ask you if you want to purchase - choose yes
    6. TOS will pop up - scroll to the bottom put a check mark by accept and proceed.

  • How to create ringtone from my music?

I've been able to download some of my short music clips and use the clips as ringtones.  However, for the longer pieces of music, I want to use just 30 second of it.  I've already imported the audio file into my BB's micro SD card.
The BB Media Manager Help Center provides the following instructions (below), but when I try to right-click on the file, I don't get the "Edit with Quick Sound Editor" function at all.  I've tried everything to get this function with no avail.  Please help!
You can create ringtones from existing audio clips—such as your favorite song—with the Quick Sound Editor.
    To create a ringtone:
In Media Manager, browse to the audio file from which you want to create a ring tone.
Right-click the audio file and choose Edit with Quick Sound Editor.
If necessary, display the Trim & Fade view by clicking Trim Fade.
Move the play head to the beginning of the section you want to use as your ringtone, either by clicking Preview or by clicking the waveform.
    Click Set Start.
Move the play head to the end of the section you want to use as your ringtone.
    Click Set End.
    Click Create Ringtone.
Specify a file name and location for the new file, and click Save.
To exit from Quick Sound Editor, click Close.
The ringtone is added to the All Music > Ringtone Smart View.
