Cucm 8.6 to 9.1 elm

Hello Guys,
We are moving from 8.6 to 9.1 in a day and we have 750 Unified Workspace licensing. and 6015 DLU's. I see a total of 6765 units of licenses on the license report.
How does this convert to 9.1 user based scheme. Is there a converting ratio ? Do we get 750 user licenses and what happens to 6015 dlus ? Have a TAC SR opened but no help till now. Not able to use the license count utility since this is a no wifi zone as it runs only on ipad.
Thanks
VR

Hi Raju,
You can run the LCU on PC from where Call Manager is reachable.
Share the csv file with licensing team to provide the licenses.
Before migration , upload all DLU PAKs on CUCM.

  • ELM shows insufficient licenses after CUCM upgrade from 9 to 10.0.1

    Hi All,
I just finished upgrading cucm 9 to cucm 10.0.1. Upgrade completed successfully, but elm now shows insufficient license message.
This is a Vmware installation BTW, I doubt that it matters the CUCM 901 worked fine with its ELM.
The ELM is coresident with CUCM. I though that upgrading CUCM will upgrade ELM too, but the Dashboard says to upgrade to latest version of ELM.
When I ordered upgrade through UCSS and downloaded all the files that were included in this upgrade order, one of the files was CiscoPrimeLM_64bitLnx_10.0.1.10000-19.sgn.iso.
I tried to use CUCM OS administration with this file to upgrade ELM, but OS Administration doesn't recognize it as a valid file.
The file that I used for CUCM upgrade was: UCSInstall_UCOS_10.0.1.10000-24.sgn.iso
So at this point I'm not sure whether ELM needs to be upgraded or I need new licenses for CUCM version 10.

Upgrading co-res CUCM should have upgraded your ELM as well.  It should now show as Prime License Manager when you log in.  I'm guessing you just don't have any CUWL 10.x licenses installed.  Can you attach a screenshot of the License Usage page in PLM?
You may need to email [email protected] to move your 9.x licensing to 10.x licenses.

  • ELM 9.1.x Multiple clusters

I have a question regarding multiple clusters registered in ELM. Is there a way to move licenses from one cluster to the other cluster. For example
Cluster-Pub-A has 1000 CUWL LIc. I add Cluster-Pub-B to my network and register to ELM. Is it possible to move licenses from one cluster to another.
    Second option.
With Cisco Sales order # (proof of purchase) could I ask TAC or Licensing to move 100 CUWL license from Cluster A to B.
    Thanks

With ELM the license are tied to the ELM node and can be shared by multiple CUCM clusters. ELM will sync with all the clusters and provides an overview of all the licenses being used by all clusters, if you have sufficient licenses installed on ELM then no alerts are generated if not you will see alert as which cluster is not in compliance for the license and you can add additional licenses as needed. If you remove a cluster from ELM and at next sync those licenses will be freed and is available.  For example in a disaster recovery scenario, if one data center is down, I can bring-up another cluster in another data center, add my new cluster to the ELM. Remove the old CUCM cluster, do a sync on ELM, the licenses will be automatically consumed/allocated to the new cluster.

  • ELM Compatibility with different versions of CUCM

    Hi,
We have several CUCM servers that are using the same ELM licensing server and now we want to upgrade one Call Manager server from 9.1.1 to 9.1.2. All the other servers and ELM will remain at 9.1.1.
Is this setup compatible ? Will the 9.1.2 CUCM server be able to speak with the 9.1.1 ELM server?
    Thanks,
    Adrian

    yes

  • ELM 9.1 and CUCM 9.1 Registration Conflict

    Hi,
Have a standalone ELM server and a CUCM 9.1.1a cluster registering to it that has been working fine for a few months.
A few days ago the CPU was pegging on the ELM server (hostagt process) and I could not restart that process individually, and I did a graceful restart of the ELM server (utils system restart) and it came back up and everything was fine.
Now a few days later, I get alert from CUCM that the ELM sync has not worked for past 7 days and there are 53 days remaining.
On the ELM server, under Product Instancxes the CUCM has a Registration Conflict error and says it is managed by another ELM server. There is only one ELM server. The CUCM license page says it is managed by this ELM server that is complaining.
I've restarrted the ELM server with no change, and I tried to restart the ELM Client on the CUCM server without change.
Do I need to delete the CUCM product instance from the ELM server and add it back?
Is there something hung up on the CUCM server and I need to restart other services on it?  I am not seeing much in the logs on either server.
Both ELM and CUCM are version 9.1.1a.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
    Could be this perhaps;
Symptom: Product Instance registration fails with an error that the product instance is already managed by ELM.
Resolution: Log into the CLI of the product you are trying to add, and run the command license client reset registration which will clear its previous register with ELM.

  • Difference with CUCM 8.6 and 9.0

    Hi Friends,
We are planning to up grade our CUCM setup from 8.6 to 9.0.
Before doing it, would like to the difference between version 8.6 and 9.0.
    Basic information about our setup:
    1. Current CUCM ver: 8.6
    2. Users count : 5500
    3. Using feature : Extension Mobility
    Thanks in Advance...!!!!

First of all you should be using 9.1 (latest release of this version and not 9.0)
Second, you need to check the features guide and determine which feature will affect your users.
One of the major difference in 9.X is the License Manager (ELM) you need to understand in detail how this works and plan your upgrade accordingly.
Please refer to this post, it discuss in details what you need to upgrade to 9.X and all the relevant documentation

  • CUCM/Unity/Presence Upgrade from 8.6.2 to 9.1

    Hello,
I am planning an upgrade of our UC environment this weekend.  I've been in contact with Cisco Licensing support all week to get the appropriate license for all the services.  For CUCM I have ran the Pre Upgrade License Utility however they keep asking me for the ELM license request.
I've told them several times that ELM gets installed during the upgrade so I cannot provide the information beforehand.  They've escalated my ticket to product management however i'm not sure i'll get a response before my maintenance window.
Can I proceed with the upgrade of CUCM/Unity/Presence and resolve the licensing afterwards?  will it run in eval mode for a while?
Can someone also confirm this is the proper upgrade order?
    CUCM Publisher Upgrade to 9.1
    Unity Publisher Upgrade to 9.1
    Presence Publisher Upgrade to 9.1
    CUCM Subscriber Upgrade to 9.1
    Unity Subscriber Upgrade to 9.1
    Presence Subscriber Upgrade to 9.1

Yes, you get 60 days to solve any kind of licensing issue

  • CUCM & Unity - both 8.6 - to 9.1.2 - Refresh upgrade file ? & Reload Sequence

    Hi guys,
    I have two questions..
    I have to update CUCM 8.6.2 (Cluster of 2 ) to 9.1.2
    And Unity 8.6.2 ( cluster of 2 ) to 9.1.2
    First question,
Do I need the refresh upgrade file For CUCM 8.6.2 before upgrade ?
Do I need the refresh upgrade file For Unity 8.6.2 before upgrade ?
    Second question,
From what I know For CUCM I Update PUB First, then Reboot PUB... once done I Update CUCM SUB and Reboot SUB.
For Unity, I think I have to update Unity PUB ( no reboot) then Update Unity SUB ( once both update, I reboot PUB, and when it is UP I reboot Unity SUb )
    is that right ?
    thanks,

Here is the process for migrating licenses:
Upgrade your apps to version 9, you will run in 60 day demo mode
Install ELM and add UCXN and CUCM instances to it
Go through license migration process in ELM
2 files will be generated for license migration one for CUCM and one for UCXN
    Send these to [email protected]
Cisco will issue new licenses for version 9 based on what was configured and what you are entities to based on UCSS
My experience is that they don't spend too much comparing to what you are actually entitled to so you may want to need to work with them on manually adjusting anything, i.e. convert Enhanced/Enhnaced Plus to CUWL, etc.

  • License questions regarding CUCM/CUC upgrade from 9.1.2 to 10.5.2

    Hi All,
I am set to upgrade CUCM/CUC cluster and have read the upgrade guides multiple times, just need some input from folks who've actuall done and survived the ordeal.
I have already installed a stand-alone PLM 10.5 and just need an idea what to expect with license migration once the CUCM/CUC has hurdled through the upgrade.
After CUCM/CUC has upgraded to 10.5, can I run the migrate license utility via e-fulfillment and UC instance license will automatically/electronically update its license. And if so, how long does this process take.
Or do I need to send a request to cisco licensing support via the generated request form from migrate licenses tool. Also how long does this process take.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
are u using standalone or co-resident ELM.Just refer the link
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/plm/10_5_1/releasenotes/CUCM_BK_P64D2D8C_00_plm-rn-1051/CUCM_BK_P64D2D8C_00_plm-rn-1051_chapter_00.html
For a standalone Enterprise License Manager deployment, use the Prime License Manager ISO:
To upgrade to Cisco Prime License Manager Release 10.5(1), use the following ISO file: CiscoPrimeLM_64bitLnx_10.5.1.XXXXX-XX.sgn.iso.
Where: X represents the specific branch and build number.
For a co-resident Enterprise License Manager deployment, Enterprise License Manager is upgraded to Cisco Prime License Manager along with your Unified Communications product upgrade.
You can upgrade a standalone Enterprise License Manager Release 9.1(2) deployment to a standalone Cisco Prime License Manager Release 10.x deployment.
For co-resident deployments, you can upgrade Enterprise License Manager Release 9.1 to Cisco Prime License Manager Release 10.x with Release 10.x of a Unified Communications application (Cisco Unity Connection or Cisco Unified Communications Manager) upgrade.

  • Generate new License Request from ELM

    Hello everyone,
I am having a problem generating a new License Request from ELM.
It was required to me by Cisco Licensing in order for them to provide me a new License file.
Here are the steps that I made in generating a new License Request from ELM. (See attached file ELMaccess, LR1 & LR2)
I first accessed the ELM under CUCM administration.
Select License tab> Other Fulfillment Options> Generate License Request> Save to my computer
I received a .txt file (lic_req_201.....) and that certain file was the one I sent to Cisco Licensing.
    Cisco Licensing replied:
"It is still the same license request that you have here, just regenerated. What is needed is an entirely new and different ELM License request."
I am not really certain for what kind of License Request file that he wanted, or maybe there is a different procedure in doing this?
    Can someone help on this?
If I am missing something or if there is another procedure on generating a new License Request kindly guide me.
    Thank you so much.

    Hi mkchandak,
    Thank you for your response!
Yes we did, we actually at first generated a license request, submitted it to licensing and they provided us a license file. Now, upon the installation of the license file we received this error message "Insufficient Licenses".
We went back to cisco Licensing, a new engineer assigned to us, provided all the details he requires, our license case was approved by their Product Manager and now he requests for a "Newly Generated License Request".
I followed the same steps in generating a new License Request:
I accessed the ELM under CUCM administration.
So maybe he is referring to something other than the License Request that I have provided.
Maybe there is a different procedure in generating a "fresh and newly generated License Request"
If you know a step-by-step procedure in achieving this, please guide me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again!

  • Upgrade to CUCM/CUC 9.x from 8.x

When upgrading to CUCM 9.x from a version 8.x, the ELM service is installed.  Is there a way to perform the upgrade but not install the ELM services?  This can be very confusing to have ELM services on every product instance.

No, there's no way to not install.

  • ELM 9.x to PLM 10.5 License Concern

    Hi All,
I would like to ask if any concern if I upgrade from the standalone ELM 9.x to PLM 10.5, I would need to rehost again the License?
The UCSS must be valid as well?
As I planned to upgrade my Call Manager and Unity from 9.x to 10.5.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not completely versed in PLM/ELM as I just got my hands on 10.5 and was previously on 8.x with some 9.x platforms but from what I read the licenses should be fine.  The link here shows that they are PLM supports both 9.x and 10.x so that also points in the direction that it shouldn't be an issue and that the licensing remains the same.
