CUCM 9.1.2 DRS backup takes extremely long time to complete
Anybody else noticed that DRS backups from CUCM 9.1.2 to a Windows SFTP server (ex: OpenSSH) takes up to 6-7 hours to complete?
Backup to a Linux SFTP server runs fine.
All backup worked fine on Windows or Linux with CUCM 9.1.1.
Hi Sebastien,
Can you try taking the backup on a machine in the same subnet as cucm and see if the issue persists? Have you tried restarting the DRF MA and LA services yet? Openssh is one of the supported options for DRS backup so you can engage TAC if the issue persists.

OPM process execution process parameters takes too long time to complete
PROCESS_PARAMETERS are inserted every 15 min. using gme_api_pub packages. some times it takes too long time to complete the batch ,ie completion of request. it takes about 5-6 hrs long time ,in other time s it takes only 15-20 mins. This happens at regular interval...if anybody can guide me I will be thankful to him/her..
thanks in advance.
regds,
ShaileshGenerally the slowest part of the process is in the extraction itself...
Check in your source system and see how long the processes are taking, if there are delays, locks or dumps in the database... If your source is R/3 or ECC transactions like SM37, SM21, ST22 can help monitor this activity...
Consider running less processes in parallel if you have too many and see some delays in jobs... Also indexing some of the tables in the source system to expedite the extraction, make sure there are no heavy processes or interfaces running in the source system at the same time you're trying to load... Check with your Basis guys for activity peaks and plan accordingly...
In BW also check in your SM21 for database errors or delays...

I updated my ipad to 7.1 this weekend. I am using the same wireless network, etc.....nothing else has changed but it takes an extremely long time to load itunes on the ipad. Everything from the store itself and the items I have purchased take anything rom 3 to 5 minutes to load.
I have reset the ipad, reset the "network" from the router to the option on the ipad.
Any other suggestions?Check App Store

Hi,
I built a query with 4 tables inside (load from Oracle DB and two of them are quite big, more than millions of rows). After filtering, I tried to build relationships between tables using Table.Join formula. However, the process took extremly long time to
bring out results (I ended the process after 15 mins' processing). There's a status bar kept updating while the query was processing, which is showed as . I suppose
this is because the query folding didn't working, so PQ had to load all the data to local memory first then do the opertion, instead of doing all the work on the source system side. Am I right? If yes, is there any ways to solve this issue?
Thanks.
Regards,
QilongHi Curt,
Here's the query that I'm refering,

Cisco Works LMS 3.2 backup takes too long time to finish
Hello guys,
We have problem with scheduled LMS 3.2 backup. It takes more than 12hours to finish. You can see in log that backup is scheduled for 18:00h and it waits untill 22:07 to start doing anything. We can't figure out why is there such a delay. It started to happen after system reported lack of free space on disk. And we feed up the space, but then faced this problem with long duration. Before this problem occured backup used to last for 45 min od 1 hour.
Backup to 'C:/BACKUP' started at: [Mon Apr 11 18:01:26 2011]

Do you have any ideas what went wrong and how to fix it?
Thanks,
MarijaThis is a catch 22 , you need to apply a patch to fix a backup problem , yet you want to backup before applying a patch. This is where you will have to assume some risk, and apply the patch w/o a backup.
Go to Common Services -> Device and Credentials -> Device Mgmt and export the entire DCR (All devices) to a CSV file. Make sure you browse to someplace outside application space, I usually place the file at c:\. Also make sure you check mark the include credentials box, so you also have all your device passwords. This is your D/R plan, if things were to fail you will have your device list you can import in an emergency.
Or you can try the suggestion of clearing DFM to mitigate potential loss so you can get a good backup of the rest of LMS. Just be sure to view your notifications and cut/paste into note pad so they can be rebuilt. You will lose history and local customizations to Polling and Thresholds and DDV.
# net stop crmdmgt

# perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmInv dmprefix=INV
# perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH

Time Machine backups taking extremely long time and disrupting other computing activity
I have an iMac running the latest version of Lion (10.7.4) and which I have upgraded to a one terabyte hard drive and full memory capability. I back up to a My Book 2 terabyte external hard drive using Time Machine. My iMac is often very sticky, though I've done most of the diagnostics I know of and preferences etc. are seemingly all OK and fcuk -fs gives a positive result! The Mac is often hard to wake from sleep and in particular seems to spend a lot of time backing up very-very slowly, with the result that it frustratingly seems to be backing up most of the time with the consequent effercts on using other programmes. Also the whole thing seems to grind to a halt after a hard days work with quite a few applications open. I'm wondering what can be causing this and what I can do to overcome this very frustrating and debilitating problem?
Hi
I would try the following for now and I am sorry, yes you were clear that it's an external drive.
Rebuild Spotlight
-Rebuild the spotlight index as per http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409 as a first step. Spotlight indexes play a role in healthy backups so this is why this could be a good thing to do.
- When conducting the next backup, after the spotlight re-index, consider connecting to your mac only the external hard drive and disconnect all other devices to rule out other devices affecting things. I suggest connecting devices back one at a time followed by a triggered backup until the issue fails to reproduce itself.
General Performance Issues
- Some performance issues can also be cured through an SMC reset. This article can help in this regard, note that the steps differ depending on the model mac you use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
--In terms of the mac's general sluggishness
- SMC can help
- open Activity Monitor and check to see if CPU usage is abnormally high or any particular process is consuming an elevated amount of CPU cycles, see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5146
Check External HD (backup drive)
- If you've run disk utility and have done a repair permissions and repair disk as per user "Radiation Mac" then there is no point doing it again but this should just be a reminder incase you missed it.
-- on a related note to disk utility try;
1) Mount your external hard drive.
2) In Disk Utility, locate your external backup drive. Your backup drive should mount in the Disk Utility sidebar when attached to your Mac.
3) Select your external backup drive.
4) Click Repair.
Test Time Machine backups against a different drive
--If you have a spare hard drive or even a small USB stick, you could back up only a very small amount of data to this second hard drive or USB stick as a test. This article outlines how to exclude from backups, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
Further Ideas
Seeing the logs would be useful if the issue persists. There maybe a reason for the issue but it appears only in the logs which we may eventually need.
I almost forgot
-make sure everything is uptodate with Apple software/firmware and any firmware for your drive if applicable.
If anything is unclear, feel free to let me know, I will provide more details. -
Table.Join/Merge in Power Query takes extremly long time to process for big tables
Hi,
I tried to simply merge/inner join two big tables(one has 300,000+ rows after filtering and the other has 30,000+ rows after filtering) in PQ. However, for this simple join operation, PQ took at least 10 minutes (I killed the Query Editor after 10
minutes' processing) to load the preview.
Here's how I did the join job: I first loaded tables into the workbook, then did the filtering for each table and at last, used the merge function to do the join based on a same field.
Did I do anything wrong here? Or is there any way to improve the load efficiency?
P.S. no custom SQL was used during the process. I was hoping the so called "Query Folding" can help speed the process, but it seems it didn't work here.
Thanks.
Regards,
QilongHi!
You should import the source tables
in Access. This will speed up the work of
PQ in several times. -

Time Machine/Time Capsule backups successful, but take a long time
I purchased a 512GB Time Capsule about a year ago. Since I got it, backups have been successful, but very slow. An average backup takes about 40-50 minutes, usually for less than 20 MB transferred.
Here are a couple summaries of recent backups (see end of post for full logs):
BACKUP 1:
11 minutes to detect if pre-backup thinning was necessary
18 minutes to copy 281 MB
5 minutes to copy 5.4 MB
4 minutes to start post-backup thinning
2 minutes to delete 1 expired backup
There were no error messages.
BACKUP 2:
4 minutes to detect if pre-backup thinning was necessary
12 minutes to copy 15 MB
5 minutes to detect if pre-backup thinning was necessary
15 minutes to copy 3.8 MB
1 minutes to start post-backup thinning
2 minutes to delete 1 expired backup
This time, there were error messages about "Unable to rebuild path cache for source item. Partial source path:"
My Time Capsule is placed about 5 feet from my laptop, with no obstructions between them. I don't think it's a wireless speed issue, because I use the Time Capsule as my router, and my connection to the net is fine. Also, operations that don't require wireless connections, like detecting pre-backup thinning, also take a long time.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong to cause my regular backups to take so long?

One other thing thing you might try, is a +*Verify Disk+* (not permissions) on your internal HD. That will not take anything like 40 hours! If it reports problems, you'll have to boot from your Install disc and use it's copy of DU to repair it. Post back if you need to do this but aren't sure how.
I think it's very fishy that Repair Disk took 40 hours -- it seems like any operation that touches the hard drive on the Time Capsule takes a long time. Maybe the hard drive is having problems? What sort of problems could a drive have that would make everything VERY slow, but still successful?
Try connecting via an Ethernet cable; see what effect that has. Everything should be faster, of course, but not wildly. Just as an example, I'm doing backups to a USB hard drive via my Airport Extreme, about 15 feet from my iMac. When I first started that way, I did a full backup via Ethernet (about 21 gb/hour), then erased it and ran again wirelessly (about 12 gb/hour).
Even 5 feet apart, you may have some sort of interference or other communications problem; if Ethernet is many times faster, then you may need to have your TC and/or wireless card examined. -
my final cut is running extremely slow after having for 6 months. I use external hard drives and save nothing on my computer. it takes a long time to render now. do you think something is wrong with computer. took it to mac store but they fail to help me. I have a 13 inch mac book pro 10.6.8 8gb 2.3 gfz intel core i5
What did Apple tell you about what they did (or did not) find here?
See if working on the main disk is any faster.
USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go. And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too. FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't. -
Finishing Backup takes too much time.
Finishing backup takes too much time in my system , sometimes 30 minutes even 1 hour! and sometimes right after finishing backup(before the icon in the menu bar stops) it starts to take another backup( and usually 10MB or something small !) or the estimation is wrong .
Sometimes I see my system that is taking backups hours and hours(just with small stops!)
and the speed rate I of data transfer is reduced, while I set it to be on maximum speed in Time Capsule. And the log with Time-stamps from Console

When Time Machine is backing up, my computer is so slow that it is essentially useless. Backups occur irregularly, and take a long time. How do I get Time Machine to work properly?
Hello,
Have you verified both drives in Disk Utility?
See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7029
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab of Activity Monitor, are there a lot of Pageouts? -
i got the download bar then it never seemed to go away..how long should it take to download firefox 5....it's never taken that long..I had to stop it after 5 minutes or so
