CUCM different MTU size within cluster

Hi,
What could be the impact if within a cluster one of the subscriber has lower MTU value ?
eg 1492 to allow passing traffic due to provider restrictions and 1500 default for Pub and other Subs.
Can we stay like this or at least for a few days, waiting for a maintenance window to change MTU clusterwide ?
edit: version 8.6.2 and currently database status is good, 2 on every node.
JC

I have seen cluster replication issues (SDL Link Out of Service) alerts caused by this.
Keep an eye on your DB reporting and or check the RTMT alert central/

  • Fragmentation - MTU size - within Core

    All,
This might be a stupid a question, but just wanted some clarifications on the above subject.
What is the recommended mtu size inside an ISP core.
If there's no recommended settings, what do you guys suggests. Do you recommend increasing the default mtu size?
    Thanks in advance,
    Terence

An ISP core?  If Ethernet, probably 1500 unless you want to be able to support jumbo Ethernet (which would probably be a good long term approach).

  • Different Page Sizes within the same document - Printing

I am having trouble printing a document which contains pages of different sizes (using Adobe Professional 7.0):
    i.e. The first 10 pages are 8.5" x 11", the next few pages are 11" x 17" and the last few pages are 8.5" x 11"
The printer only spits everything out as 8.5" x 11" and the larger sheets are just cut off.
In the "Print" menu that comes up when you hit FILE->PRINT it suggests that everything is alright... I can scroll through the small "page preview" and it shows some pages 8.5x11 and some pages 11x17... but when it actually prints, it doesn't do that. Is it the printer that is the problem perhaps?
(The printer is a Lexmark x945e)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If the goal is to make a flap, then you can do this in InDesign. A spread can be any contiguous number of pages, so if your document is generally speaking double-page spreads, you can have a single spread that is composed of three contiguous pages.
To do this, in the Pages palette, select a double-page spread you want to expand. Go to the flyout menu and deselect "Allow selected spread to shuffle." Then drag new page to the left of the left page or to the right of the right page (depending on where your flap is).
    Then you're all set.
Here's a screenshot of the Pages panel:
In this case, I've created a flap to the right of page 3 (numbered page a) and its reverse to the left of page 4 (numbered page b).

  • How can you set (or reset) different page sizes within 1 pdf?

I am working on a pdf with various page sizes.  Say one page at 8-1/2 x 11, another at 11 x 17, and another at 22 x 34.  I obviously can't print as "Choose paper source by PDF page size" as one printer can't do all sizes.  I would like to change the 22 x 34 to 11 x 17.  How can I change the page size setting of one page within a multiple-paged pdf?

You can play with the Crop tool. You'll find it is easier to "size up" than "size down".
May have to extract and bin PDF pages by the virtual page size then work on them.
However, if all you want is to have the content on hard copy and having that on a common sheet size (say Letter) then consider this alternative:
Make a working copy of the PDF.
With the PDF open in Acrobat, open the Pages panel. Expand the panel width as desired.
Now, Ctrl click through the PDF page thumbnails that have a landscape orientation.
Rotate these 90 degrees to a portrait orientation.
    Alt+D+T or Shift+Ctrl+R
    Save as you go.
With all pages in a portrait orientation, use the attached printer to print.
In the Print dialog locate the entry for 'page scaling' and select Fit or Shrink to Printable Area.
All PDF pages' content will be scaled such that all page content fits in an imprint on the Letter size paper.
Or, go the other way and have the imprint of PDF page content fill a larger sheet size.
Just a function of what the printer accepts for paper size and the features provided in the printer driver.
    Be well....

  • One document... different page sizes?

Hi! I just upgraded to InDesign CS4. My boss wants me to create a flipbook. I have the October issue of InDesign Magazine which will help. However, the document I want to turn in to a flipbook has 6 regular-sized page (8.5x11) and one larger page (11x17). I know in Quark (which I much more familiar with) you cannot have different page sizes within one document. Can you do this in InDesign? Thanks.
    Julie

Having played with this a bit, let me ask this a different way. I'm taking a printed document that is like a regular magazine (except it's much shorter). It has a front cover which is 8.5 x 11 and a back cover which is 8.5x11. All interior pages are 2-page spreads. From what I can tell, I have to create the pages in InDesign 4 and export them as an swf file. This currently creates all 2-page spreads. So... how do I get the front and back covers to be single pages? I can do it so that the other half of the spread is blank, but that's not what I want. I want it it to "act" like a real magazine. Thanks.

  • Font sizes within a table

I have one cell in a table where the font size is different than in all the other cells. I didn't even know you could have different font sizes within a cell. I thought it was table-wide.
I went to change the table font size from medium to small, thinking it would change all of the cells, buy I still have that one odd cell. I had to bring it into the Mac version of Pages to fix it.
    Did I miss something?

did this file originate on the ipad, or did you start it on the desktop? Because it will preserve what you have on the desktop for some things when importing to ipad. Not everything, but some. I think this was one of them.

  • IPSEC MTU size should be 1500 or 1400 with ipsec 60 overhead?

Our l2l vpn connections have different MTU sizes. The VPn connection is established but I only get inbound traffice but no outbound traffic. Should the path mtu be 1400 or 150 for the VPN?
    1400, ipsec overhead 60, media mtu 1500

Just keep pinging the other end ip address with ping x.x.x.x -f -l 1500.
Keep decreasing it untill you get replies back. The time you get reply is probably the MTU you would want to use.

  • Recommended MTU Size setting within the router and...

    Hello!
I was wondering what MTU Size do you guys recomended me setting within the Router Interface
and on Windows for best performance when on a BT Broadband service?
    Note: It's not a BT Router i'm using, i'm using a Netgear DG834N.
I am sure BT Routers like the HomeHub have a MTU Size of 1500 set in the Router Interface, am I correct?
My Netgear DG834N has a  MTU Size of 1458 in the Router Interface by default.
    Thanks for responding.

Personally I was able to squeeze about 11KB/s more out of my 8128Kbps line by setting my MTU to '1430', maxing out my throughput at (after the change): 859KB/s. I'm on a 20CN DSLAM so it might be different on a 21CN MSAN.
Why not experiment? You can't hurt your line (As long as your router's firmware doesn't reset your ADSL sync everytime you change it - If it does then DLM might have something to say ).

  • SPA3000: Lowest MTU size

I can let my DSL-modem lower the MTU size as soon as I receive of make a call.
This is done with IPQoS EF Timer.
I want to do this so other heavy traffic like P2P-clients get slowed down when I am calling. I set MTU at 512 but my call gets disconnected after about 25 secs. when I set it at 768 my call doesn't get disconnected.
I would like to know the official lowest MTU size the SPA3000 can work with.
I add to this that it's not a VoIP Service Provider issue as I made a call with another ATA, same MTU setting (512), and the call didn't get disconnected.
    SPA-3000
    2.0.1(5673)
    3.1.20(GW)
    Thanks in advance.

I will try to rephrase what I already have said.
First, for the UDP datagrams, fragmentation is not supported.
If you have to send 501 bytes UDP datagram, with MTU=500 it will get dropped. No excuse. No fragmentation. Packet is lost. If it's important SIP packet to keep the "session-in-progress" this may cause session drop.
Second, the SIP UDP datagrams can be large. As it's plain text messages, there is no compression / optimization on those datagrams. Within the SIP language boundaries, SIP device is free to compose the SIP UDP datagrams as needed. I have seen logs/debugs with the SIP UDP datagrams close to 1300 bytes.
Third, SIP UDP datagrams are sent moreless asynchronous comparing to RTP stream. At the beginning of the call, device(s) and VoIP/SIP switchboard will use the SIP dialog to initiate the phone call. After this, the RTP UDP datagrams stream is exchanged moreless independently on the RTP port(s), while device(s) continue to speak with switchboard with the SIP messages. Those messages may bring info like : ringing, call connected, call ended, call waiting on the line, invitation to another call / conference.
Fourth, for priorizing the RTP datagrams over other traffic, the RTP packets are (can be) marked by SIP VoIP device with certain TOS type. This TOS type can be used by QOS-enabled routers to pass the RTP stream first, SIP second (different TOS) and other traffic last. Using MTU for this purpose which MTU is NOT intended to may cause you unpredictable troubles anytime.
Fifth, I realy doubt you can configure SPA-3000's MTU size. I did not find it in the configuration. So very likely, SPA-3000 sends all packets as needed, but your MTU-limited device does not transfer the longer datagrams further, as fragmentation not possible. As UDP works without ACK mechanism on IP level, the SPA-3000 device will never notice the datagrams are dropped on the transport path.
You shall collect the SIP debugs (SPA-3000 can generate them to syslog server) and possibly the capture of the network traffic (for example using wireshark) between the SPA-3000 and your MTU-limited device (using port mirroring and/or HUB to ensure all packets are sent to all cards).
Here, compare the SIP debugs and SIP datagrams in the wireshark to determine, how big the SIP UDP datagrams are, and which SIP message is realy not transferred. You may collect two sets, one with standard MTU, one with limited MTU and you shall get your answer how big the SIP message realy is.

  • AP Divs (layers) move when I open my website on different window size.

First of all, this is my first time trying to make a website.
I'm doing an assignment for my class and i found it difficult for me to fix. I have spend 4-5 hours researching online but nothing work for me.
Well, the problem is the AP Divs (layers) move when I open my website on different window size(iphone, ipad).
The website only look right on 1366 x 786 resolution. Please take a look at my 2 pics below:
And I don't know how to make the website to fit on the iphone and ipad so that I don't have to scroll down or sroll to the right to view the whole thing.

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.

That's what APDivs do.  This is the single most common problem new people have with web page layouts.  DO NOT use positioning.  You don't need it.  Start over.  Learn to use CSS floats, margins and padding to align elements.
Below is a basic HTML5 Layout.  View source in browser to see the code.

  • How do I create a PDF document with multiple different page sizes?

I scan tif images and can have a single document with Letter, Legal, Tabloid, and even full map plan sizes (36" X 24") all in one document.  I get the document all set, then do a: File, Print, choose Adobe PDF (running Acrobat XI Pro), but it converts all the pages in my tif file to a single size.
I've found where to set the size, but the problem is I have many different sizes.  Is there a way to have the Adobe PDF printer, just use the original documents page sizes for each page when converting?

The program I use to create the TIF files (OpenText's eDOCS Imaging) does not make PDFs, it makes TIFs (and TIFFs).  To then convert this, if I try to do it through Adobe directly, I get an error which prompts me to open it in the native program and to choose print and then select the adobe printer.
This works perfect if every page is the same size, but many times my documents have many different page sizes  as well as portrait and landscape within the same document (but that is a separate option).
Doesn't Adobe have a "use the original page size / orientation" as an option when creating PDFs from existing documents?

  • Different page sizes in same article or folio

    Hi
Is it possible to have pages with different sizes in the same article or articles with different sizes inside a .folio?
I saw something like this in last edition of Wired magazine in the Table of content  (4th article) and Wired.com section (6th article). Or is it made in another way?
I tried to apply different page sizes in the pages panel and changing the page size of the document, but when updating the article I got error messages like [Error: Multiple page sizes within a document are not supported.] or [Error: The page size aspect ratio must match the folio aspect ratio.].
    Thanks

Those are separate articles. You asked about the different sizes in the same article. I missed the part about different size articles…sorry.
You can use smooth scrolling with longer articles but they have to be single pages. Make sure to turn smooth scrolling on and use the _h or _v suffix with the file names.

Is there a way to check the current MTU size (as per the document 1500 is the default size) on CUCM?
we have a customer who is using cucm with nice recording server, there is some issue in the recording and as per them they are getting MTU size 1340 from CUCM in their logs.
Please let me know if there is any command to check the current MTU size.

    Hi Pawan,
You can try the following command:
    admin:show network route detail
It will give you the MTU setting towards the bottom of the output, something like below from my lab server
    ff00::/8 dev eth0  table 255  metric 256  expires 20098217sec mtu 1500 advmss 14
    HTH

  • Set different fonts etc  within title?

How do i set different fonts/sizes etc within the one title in 'basic text'?
I, for example, I wish to create lower thirds and want to add another layer of text with different attributes, how do i add 'text 2' or 3 or even 4?
And, if I'm in the 'lower third' preset, how do i add alignment options, if i need more?
    cheers

Best you can do using 'Basic text' or 'Lower 3rd', is to create a new text clip for each change you want to make and stack them on top of each other. You can use the 'Basic Motion - x/y parameters' in the Motion tab.
You have better independent sizing options using Boris Title 3D, but you will still be limited in independent alignment options without creating additional layers.

  • [SOLVED] MTU size

I connect to the internet by a computer with an ethernet cable connected to an ADSL modem (some people say DSL, broadband connection using the phone wire) that itself is connected to the internet using pppoe. The adsl modem has an MTU size of 1492 (the default) while computer has 1500 (the default). Both can normally be changed (but I am unsure about the modem: it accepts size as big as 9000 that should normally not be accepted, I do not know if this is really effective). I have read that it can pose various problems but is it really the case? Should I change one of these settings? How can I reliably test this?

broch wrote:optimal MTU value has nothing to do with modem or connected computer. It depends on your ISP
Yes but the modem connect to the ISP with pppoe. I believe it can negotiate with the pppd on the other side (provided by the ISP) custom MTU size.

you can check optimal MTU value pretty easy by pinging google with different MTU value starting from lower going up to first ping error:
start with lets say value 1460 and go up:
In my case I have got first error with the value of 1465:
Me too, it appears to be standard pppoe size (but please read below).
    broch wrote:
    $ ping -c 1  -M do -s 1465 www.google.com
    PING www.l.google.com (66.102.7.99) 1465(1493) bytes of data.
From 192.168.1.65 icmp_seq=1 Frag needed and DF set (mtu = 1492)
    --- www.l.google.com ping statistics ---
    0 packets transmitted, 0 received, +1 errors
and last good ping was with the value 1464
    $ ping -c 1  -M do -s 1464 www.google.com
    PING www.l.google.com (66.102.7.104) 1464(1492) bytes of data.
    72 bytes from lax04s01-in-f104.1e100.net (66.102.7.104): icmp_seq=1 ttl=56 (truncated)

    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 29.205/29.205/29.205/0.000 ms
so there you have it: best value is (in my case 1464
    no set this (temporary):
    sudo ifconfig wlan0 mtu 1464
Are you sure that the correct value is not 1492 in your case? Ping add 28 byte for its headers. If you see the output of your ping command you see this 1492 after the 1464 in bracket. I am still a little confused, it would be good if other people can confirm.
