CUCM Jabber iPhone 9.1.1 VPN unexpected Disconnect

Hi like-minded :-),
We Setup a CUCM 9.1.1. with iPhones Jabber 9.1 as TCT Device and the iPhone Device Register at CUCM via Wifi and VPN. All works fine, also Dial via Office, Dial via Internet and Dial Automaticly.
Also, when we move from Wifi to VPN during an active Call, the call are not drop. Also good!
Also when have only VPN active and VPN goes down for a short time, when VPN comes back, the call is still there.
Means in all cases the active call is in hold, when Wifi or VPn goes down for a short time.
But one thing I had expected, but it will not work.
When the iPhone is in a active call via VPN or Wifi and both goes unexpected down, that CUCM hold the Call and Call me back at my iPhones via mobile network.
This will not work. The call is in hold for a period of time and then goes in disconnect.
Knows someone is this normal, or something is configure wrong?

Hi,
Have you checked that the Jabber Voice application has access to the iPhone microphone, when first running the app users may get a prompt to give the app access to it. This could explain why normal calls work.
You can check this by accessing General Settings > Privacy > Microphone

    I have just setup Jabber for iPhone and iPad in a CUCM 8.6/Presence 8.6 enviornment.  Works great when on my wireless network at work.
    The problem I have is that it doesn't work with Anyconnect VPN.  Running 8.4 code and can access the CUPS website from the iPhone/iPad when on vpn.  It just will not connect the Jabber clients.  I have attached the logs for review.
    There is only one difference in our wireless connectivity and VPN connectivity that I can think of at this point.  Could it be my DHCP configuration not offering option 150 for tftp on the VPN?  I am using a local pool on the ASA but it doesn't offer option 150 for tftp.             

    It's been a while so I don't recall exactly what I did.  That said: I want to say that I connected it via the wireless network to let it pull down it's configuration and after it pulled down the initial configuration I was good to go on VPN.

    There can be many reasons why the Login is "up the creek".
    Any break in the network at your end whilst logged in will cause  an issue.
    A sort of discrepancy between what iChat thinks the state should be and what the server thinks.
    If they don't agree the server will refuse to accept.
    A Crash at the server end which does not log you out properly will also do it.
    Any file at any time can be come corrupted.
    Luckily with the iChat .plists they are recreated if removed with an iChat Restart.
    If it were AIM you can also get your Account Suspended  and this will not log you in.
    (It tends to happen from Chat rooms where people notify AIM about bad behaviour (as they see it) and you have to apply to get Un-suspended).
    Most of the big IM services use multiple servers.
    Sometimes these go out of Sync.
    In the case of AIM this happens when they remove Old unused Screen Names from people's Buddy List prior to making them available for re-registration.  I am not sure if this happens at Google.
    You seem to be talking about an account that has worked at Work and having new computer at home.
    As I mentioned the Priority thing you have not said that it has coincided with the new computer logging in  (this will kick the work Computer out of Google whether you are logged in  on the Web Mail page or in iChat)
    IN addition to that iChat stays partially logged in for Off Line IMs
    This is done in the background by a support app called iChatAgent
    If your Computer is ON but ichat is not started people can still send you Messages.
    Instead of saving these on the server until you login iChat will start up.
    Depending if the home Mac is effecting the Work Login it may be holding sway over your Login.
    Using your girlfriend's login may have booted her Off Line where she normally uses the name/login.
    The AIM Side can be specifically set to allow Multiple Logins and therefore NOT allow them.  If this happens you get a warning and messages to do something about it.
    You do not get these in any Jabber or Google Login as the Priority setting is supposed to take care of it.
    If the Login works at the Web Mail Login and on one computer then the .plist on the work computer is the most likely issue.
    There is a small chance that a Corrupt Buddy Pic (Home Folder/Library/Caches/com.apple.iChat/Pictures) may be the cause.
    Set this folder to icon view and also use the Finder's View Menu > Show View Options and select icon view.
    This should show all pics as their icon.
    Check that all display properly.
    At this point I would try a COMBO version update install of the last Update you did over what you have.
    This often corrects hard to trace things

    Thanks for the straightforwardness roaminggnome - I wasn't sure if this problem qualified as deseving a reset. Unfortunately, for some reason I can't explain, your response remained undisclosed to me for a while, the next reply after yours took preference and I ended up doing as Meg St.Clair's susgested and initiated download, installation and syncing of Smartsync which is now taking ages to finish... If problem persists shall do the resetting and restoring.

    Having the same issue, getting this error message:
    "Failed to download Expressway configuration Failed to authenticate the Expressway server: vcse.mydomain.com"
    I already checked our certs, everything looks good.  The only difference I can see is that I don't have just example.com on the cert, when I try to add it it says it already exists on the cert.  So I am not sure you can add just example.com to a cert.
    Anyone else have any ideas?

    I am having similar issues. IPad mini ios 8.0.2. VPN connection will drop unexpectedly. Actually, it drops coincide with an active application that uses a lot of memory. Such as a web browser. I can 100% replicate behavior by connecting VPN, going to Safari, and opening Facebook. If I don't use an app that is memory-intensive, VPN stays connected indefinitely.

    Why? It could be turned off, ran out of power/battery, run over by a vehicle, out of service, submerged in water/liquid/in a gutter, wiped and reset by whoever found it, etc, etc.
    It could be any of a myriad of reasons.

    Try:
    iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    Or it could be an Apple problem and you will have to wait.

  • Slow screensaver unlock after VPN is disconnected

    We have a couple of full time remote users on 10.5.7 using mobile accounts and they have been reporting a problem where once they disconnect from a VPN session unlocking their screensaver can take a couple of tries and the computer will spin it's wheel for a couple of minutes.
    We used to have this problem in the past when the internal hostname we use for our OD server used to resolve from outside our network. We removed the OD hostname from the external DNS and that fixed that problem.
    I'm assuming the problem now is that the client now has a valid DNS cache for the OD master via the VPN and once the VPN is disconnected it's still trying to connect to that IP and hence timing out.
    Is that assumption correct? And if so how can we fix it as I'd imagine it should be a common problem but couldn't find it after searching here or googling it. And if the assumption is incorrect any pointers on the what and how?

    I seem to have found a work-around. There is probably a neater way of doing this but here goes.
    Here is my setup:
    Airport Wireless to my home router
    PPP VPN connection to my office windows network
    3G connection via mobile phone
    My aim was to be able to connect to my office network via wireless at home or via my cellular data connection, but continue to route all non-work traffic via the main connection (wireless/3G).
    The #1 problem I had once I connected to my office VPN on either wireless or 3G, was that DNS lookups to general internet sites took forever. So to get around this, I created TWO VPN connections to my office network in Network Preferences and in both connections I made sure the option to send all traffic over VPN was left UNCHECKED.
    The first connection I then designated for use when connecting wirelessly at home. Here I manually added the IP address of my home router as a DNS entry.
    The second connection I did the same by adding a new DNS entry, except here I used the DNS server of my cellular data connection, in this case T-Mobile UK.
    When connecting to my office network I just use either of the above connections depending on whether I am connecting wirelessly at home or via my mobile phone.
    It seems a bit long winded I grant you, but after literally months of trying to resolve this annoying problem, this appears to be the only fix that works.
    The downfall of this would be that DNS resolution to any servers on your office network might not work, but that isn't a problem for me since I manually add any servers I use at work to my local hosts file. This negates any need for DNS lookups and actually speeds up access to my work servers.
    In amongst this I did several reboots, so you give your machine a reboot once you've completed the above steps, just in case.
    The 3G connection won't work for you if your provider changes the DNS server every time you connect, but this is unlikely.
    If anyone's got any comments, I'd love to hear them.

    I forget my root pwd in RHEL 6 Linux.
    I have installed Virtual box in my laptop and installed RHEL 6.
    While trying to login with single user mode it shows this error "error. unexpectedly disconnected from boot status daemon".
    Step i followed to restet my root pwd.
    1. GNU Grab window
    2. pressed ' a ' and entered single to login in single mode user
    <hkernal =auto rhgb quiet
    i tried with,
    <hkernal =auto rhgb quiet 1
    <hkernal =auto rhgb quiet single
    3. some it shows "error. unexpectedly disconnected from boot status daemon"
    4. if you tried few more time shows below
    Telling INIT to go to single user mode

    5. i entered passwd root cmd also nothing happened to reset the pwd.

  • VPN not disconnecting when closing Jabber

    Ran into this problem on Iphones. Everything works perfectly, until you no longer want to use Jabber, and kill the app, but the VPN remains up. You either have to change networks, like turn on wireless that can't reach the VPN server, or go to settings and turn off the VPN.  Shouldnt the VPN disconnect once you no longer need it, or is there a setting I missed either on the client or the ASA?

    I think you have more or less already given the answer; you cant connect to you AD server through the VPN.  check your access lists and routing between VPN client and AD.
    (check wireshark when on VPN)

    I have the CUCM, which is the versin 8.6 and the Presence Server, which is the version 8.6, that is not integrated the LDAP, but I want to deploy the Jabber for Windows.
    So I would use the UDS to deploy the Jabber for Windows (modified the XML and uploaded to the CUCM TFTP server).
    Finally, that can login the users, which is manually added from CUCM.
    But I cannot search other users from the Bubby List. Any idea for that?

    First of all, either you use CUCM 8.6 with CUPS 8.6, or you use CUCM 9.1 with IM&P 9.1, what you're mentioning is just impossible as they're not compatible and that's not supported.

    We have installed the cisco jabber for mac successfully.Jabber client able to register locally successfully.
    Calling and other features working properly. Jabber IM also working fine.
    But when we try over vpn its shows error."services are missing".All the ports are open on fortigate firewall.

    If you have detailed diagnostics from the Jabber Mac client, this would provide some more context to why it's displaying those errors.  (Help > Detailed Logging enabled) (Help > Report a problem)
    Another thing to check for would be DNS resolution of the configured servers when the Mac is VPN'd in.  If Jabber cannot resolve the DNS name, it will not know where to connect to.
    If the diagnostics are pointing towards a connectivity problem, but the firewall says it's wide open, then taking a packet capture on the Mac where Jabber is trying to register may illustrate what's going on at the network layer.
