CUCM-VCS Integration VCS B2BUA Encryption Call Failures

All,
I have the following scenario:
CUCM 9.1.2SU1
VCS X8.1.1
MX300 endpoints (CUCM registered) 
We are not running in mixed mode on CUCM
We want media streams with external call parties to be encrypted. We do have TLS end-to-end but I don't believe we can support SRTP to the MX300s registered to UCM w/o provisioning mixed mode (based on Cisco docs). So, we are attempting to use Media encryption policy on the VCS. Specifically, we set one of the traversal client zone to use "Best effort". This works for most calls but we have seen a couple of calls fail.
From end user perspective, failures manifest as a call that gets connected and is immediately torn down. 
On the VCS, we will see the following when looking at the call history:
The B2BUA Encryption component is disconnected after ~3 seconds. The disconnect reason is: B2BUA disconnected call on the ingress saying "mismatched transport type in answer".
Based on context clues, this points to TLS negotiation. The thing is, if I set the media policy back to "auto" then the call connects fine and the transport is TLS. At least, it reports TLS on my VCS-C and VCS-E.
Any pointers that someone is willing to toss my way?

Won't help but I have a very similar but slightly different scenario with:
CUCM 9.1
VCS 8.2.2
Jabber 10 or CUCM registered TC endpoint
As for settings:
CUCM-VCS SIP trunk is TCP not encrypted (never got it to work following the doc step by step....)
VCS-C to VCS-E is TLS as setup on the doc.
On the VCS-C, the DNSZone Media Encrytion mode is set to "Auto"
Some SIP calls work perfectly (i.e. the Cisco test endpoints) but some users have issues. Dialing partners' cloud service video-conference, the call connects and gets dropped immediately. I created myself a trial account on that service to test and can reproduce it all the time. I can see the call coming in my cloud service client and when I accept it it just drops.
On the VCS-C,
I see a SIP 200 OK
an then a call component status=disconnected  type=B2BUA

But on the VCS-E in the call history, I only see and "408 request timeout".
When I call my Jabber account from that service it works well. But in that case the second call component with type B2BUA shows:

    so where does Unity Connection cache this certificate and how can i delete/replace it?
    the cert shown in the logs is the one from cucm: ("CallManager"), i recreated it through cucm os administration, now i see the same error message on unity connection for the new recreated certificate.

    Actually It doesn't. It says he's on a MacBook. I don't know all the different types of Macs. I was having a ton of problems with iChat. I opened DMZ to my computer, knocked down all firewalls etc and left everything exposed, still with bad results. A few weeks ago my power supply went out on my D-Link. I bought a linksys. Since I'd left all firewalls off I figured it couldn't be the router. I power cycled everything n the netork, still no luck. Today I bought a universal Power supply and started up my D-Link Router. Everything worked perfectly. My wifes computer - a laptop running Tiger worked fine with the Linksys and did my machine before the Leopard upgrade. Now that I've got the D-Link online everythings working.

  • CUCM, VCS-Core and Edge, B2B Calling

    I have CUCM ver 9.1(2) and VCS 8.1.1 in my environment, the VCS-C and VCS-E are currently setup to do MRA which is working fine for the vpn-less Jabber.
    We also have a number of SX series Telepresence codecs dotted about which are registered to the CUCM and used for internal video conferencing, now the company is wanting the ability for outside video conferencing so need to setup the B2B capability (licencing has been sorted out already for Rich Media Sessions)
    I've been ploughing through a number of docs on this, I have not found one yet specifically for CUCM registered devices and VCS doing nothing but firewall traversal, so the guides I've been working from are for enabling CUCM registered devices to talk to VCS registered devices and just taking relevant bits such as Neighbour zones and SIP trunks from it.
    Does anyone know of a guide specifically for the direction Cisco appear to want us to go, which is Telepresence devices registered to CUCM and the VCS just doing firewall traversal.
    Or a guide on the firewall traversal part only and I can tack it on to my notes from the other adapted guides.
    My current notes have the following tasks I think I need to do to get this working
    - setup partition and CSS on the CUCM for Telepresence calls
    - setup SIP trunk on CUCM pointing to Expressway-C (have subnotes on requirments for SIP Trunk Security profile and the SIP Profile)
    - SIP route pattern(s) on the CUCM pointing to the SIP trunk
    - Enterprise parameters on the CUCM such as Cluster FQDN, Organization Top Level Domain and URI Lookup Policy
    - On the VCS-C a neighbour zone pointing to the CUCM
    - Search rule to route inbound calls to CUCM neighbour zone
    Is this looking correct so far?  If so then what else will I need to in relation to traversal zones and VCS-E call routing to get calls in and out the business?

    Was checking the logs on the SX10 itself, appears to be reporting the same thing about 503 Service Unavailable, I had the logging on it set to "Extended Logging"
    (NB - the address 10.1.99.198 in this case is not the SX10, it is my laptop as I was using the SX10's webgui to remotely control the device and make the call)
    Currently discussing this issue with Cisco TAC, will update as and when more info comes

    I'm trying to understand the steps of the process. Does "HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found" response to the opm_hc.c(438) call? When I type "<server_url>:8101" in the browser, I get "The webpage cannot be displayed" error. Does this should work?
    EDI outbound is routed to proxy and confirmed that call from OTA was never made to proxy. Switched protocol to SMTP and it worked. There is no issue other than HTTP initial call failure. Any help you can give me I'd appreciated.

    debug ccsip all is very intensive so you should do the following before enabling the debug

    Then..
    <Enable debugs, then test again.>

    What is even more strange is that the call appears to be disconnected from the far end. From the logs below the outbound call leg (45) is where the disconnect is coming from and the "cc_api_call_disconnected" shows this call leg talking to CCAPI..

  • Error messages in 2651XM GW, cause outbound call failure, reboot fix it

    Cisco 2651XM as Gateway, it keep posting these error message and after a period of time, it cause outbound call failure.
    Reboot fix it but there're still error messages...
    How to fix it? It's IOS bug or hardware issue? How to identify?

  • Call failures when lockfs -f is ran of /opt/SMAW

    During our update scenario, we initially disable local mirrors for all the local file systems like, /,/opt/SMAW,/var,/export/home.
    During this disabling was call failures observed when "lockfs" was executed on the /opt/SMAW file system.
    There was no call failure observed during disabling of other local file systems.
    As a result of this some of the processes are blocked.
    A Perf tool was run on the node to collect information like CPU.Load etc. At the time lockfs -f /opt/SMAW was executed , they was temporarily no response.
    One point important here is that the disabling of all the local mirrors finished successfully.
    Next a fresh test with disabling the lockfs option resulted in no call failures. So the question here is why lockfs behave like this only on /opt/SMAW .
    My understanding of lockfs is -- . Lockfs with "-w" option, is used to put a "write lock" { all lock operations implicitly perform a flush } on the mirror peice on which fallback will happen if need be.So it is necessary that the data in the unmirrored part is intact.
    The steps we follow while disabling are as follows:---
    1> We first check if all the mirrors for a volume is in state OKAY.
    2> Then it is checked in vfstab and "mount" output if the file system is mounted.
    3> The lockfs will be done for the file system to ensure file systems are synced.
    4> Next the first mirror is detached. fsck is ran on the mirror piece to ensure data is in good state.

    When running that tool, all the links are showing zero utilization - not sure if the tool is able to show any more detailed information? 
    I should state that this Lync implementation is not live, there no Lync clients out on the corporate network, and I'm not expecting any traffic on the WAN site links at this point.
    It just seems to be an issue when accessing as a remote user.   At this point I think it must be because I have misconfigured CAC.  And because it is happening for a conference and not peer to peer for the remote user, then it is probably the relationship
    between the front end server pool and Edge server / remote user.  
    I have a local / central site defined in CAC with no bandwidth policy applied.  Initially the subnets assigned to this central site were just the LAN subnets for the central site that I knew would have Lync clients running on them.  Then as part
    of troubleshooting decided to add the Edge Internal IP, and then Edge external IPs as subnets associated with this central site.  Still getting the same problem though.
    Its around about times like now where I wonder if it is something simple like a service needing restarting so I'll double check things like this.   If you have any other ideas it would be greatly appreciated - a bit stuck.

  • Won't end call, Call Failure, Muting...

    My iPhone works pretty well except for the following:
    1. When I'm done with a call and go to hang up, the screen it is still blank and won't let me touch anything.
    2. When someone calls and doesn't leave a voicemail it says call failure, call failed and when I slide the lever, it automatically calls them back.
    3. When I'm in the middle of a call, the mute button always gets pressed.
    Any advice for any of these?

    I'm having the same issue with not being able to hang up after a call. I'm not using a case, and after a call, my screen wont come back to life after i take it away from my ear. I understand that there is a sensor that turns the touchscreen off when held to your face to avoid unintentional inputs, and i wonder if mine is not working, and if there is a way to test this.

  • UCCX 7 Encrypt call recordings

    Howdy Netpros, I can't find anything in the documentation for UCCX 7 on encrypting call recordings. I assume this is not possible and we are looking into a seperate call recording solution that supports encryption, but does anyone have any ideas about what I can do now to encrypt the call recording files besides exporting them to .wav and making them inaccessible to the Supervisor application?

    Brett,
         UCCX doesn't natively support encrypted calls using SRTP.  In fact, it's a requirement to turn it off.  However if all you are worried about is encrypting the recordings, I would do the following:
    1.) Create a secure server that has adequate storage.
    2.) Create a script that copies over the .raw files every X (minutes,hours,days).  Basically you just need to copy over as often as you feel the need exists.
    3.) Use the built in Windows signing functionality to sign and encrypt the files.
    You now have encrypted recordings, the downside of which is you don't have a player for them.  To rectify this, you will need to allow a copy of the raw2wav to run on that server and use usernames that have the security token to unencrypt the data.  You could then also give that token to your call center supervisors and allow them to listen to the recordings using the token and then delete.
    It's not a perfect solution, but it may work.  Let me know if you have any questions about this.  You Windows team should be able to provide you details on the signing tokens as they have been a part of Active Directory and Windows for a couple of generations now.  Hopefully this will give you somewhere to start.

  • VCSE with dual NIC / SIP H323 encrypted call / traversal and non-traversal call license questions

    I have a few questions and I would appereciate if someone will answer my questions?
    1) May I know pros and cons of using Dual NIC and single NIC with VCSE in DMZ?
    2) In order to make H323 and SIP encrypted call, what configuration need to be done on Cisco endpoint, non-cisco endpoint, VCSC and VCSE (both signalling and Media need to be encrypted). 
    3)let say my VCSE is in DMZ- endpoint A (cisco) and endpoint  B (non-cisco) are registered on VCSE. I would like VCSE to use non-traversal call license when A call to B or B call to A regardless of whether H323 or SIP call.How can I force VCSE and endpoints to use non-traversal call. I only want VCSE to handle signalling and media is EP to EP direct. As traversal license is quite expensive.
    I found following information from Cisco document.
    all Cisco TelePresence endpoints are traversal enabled and so a traversal license will always be needed when at least one of the endpoints involved in the call is a Cisco TelePresence endpoint.
     Is it possible to disable traversal client feature of Cisco endpoint?

  • Blackberry Z10 "Call Failure"

    Hi Can anyone help?  My Blackberry Z10 has been working fine for a few months.  This week I can not make calls nor can I take calls.  When I dial out the phone displays "Call Failure" Contact your service provider.  I have been in contact with Virgin and they say nothing is wrong with the account or sim.  I have the sim in another blackberry phone and everything works just fine.  I have done the security wipe, still the same fault.  Does anyone have any ideas what I can do.  I purchased the phone online "New" from a private seller.

    I would get the sim replaced. I have seen similar issues with sim cards. I had a problem with my data plan on my sim. Wouldn't work on my Z10 but worked in a 9810. One think it was a problem with the device. Turned out that a replacement sim solved the problem.

  • Call failures with SQN-100-5 (T-Mobile) on AT&T

    I bought a factory-sealed, T-Mobile-branded Q10 on eBay a couple of months ago. At the time I was with T-Mobile, no problems with making or receiving calls.  I wanted to switch to AT&T for the better coverage, so I got the unlock code from T-Mobile.  Now when I try to place calls, half the time I will get a call failure message.  Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 attempts to make a successful call. And a lot of calls I receive will go directly to voicemail. I spoke with someone in AT&T support and she said that, even though the phone was unlocked, because it was a -5 model instead of a -1, that I would continue to have this problem and, sorry, there was nothing they could do about it.
    I'm no expert concerning cell radios & bands, but I see on the Q10 Wikipedia page that the only difference between the two models is with 3G.  AT&T is tri-band, while T-Mobile is quad-band. T-Mobile also uses 1700  which AT&T doesn't.
    Is this the reason for the call failures?  If not, is it worth pursusing this with maybe Level 2 or Blackberry Support at AT&T to see if anything can be done on their end?

    There are multiple sub-models of each BB10 device, each supporting specific radio frequencies, bands, and technologies. The challenge in the USA is that we allowed our cellular industry to grow relatively unregulated all by itself, which has resulted in great variability between the carriers in this regard. And, to make a device actually able to handle ALL of those would mean that the device is so physically large (multiple internal antennas) as to be unacceptable to the end user. Hence, the multiple different sub-models of devices.
    What you were told is indeed the case...your specific sub-model of Q10 is only partially compatible with AT&T's network, and you will indeed continue to have challenges. Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone can do to alter the (in)compatibility between your -5 device and AT&T's network.
    If you truly want the best compatibility, you need to obtain a device that is fully compatible with AT&T's network. And, you of course can then sell your -5 to someone on TMO who desires it.

  • Decode Error in Cisco VCS for a call from Jabber to telyHD

    Hi,
    We have the following setup:
    Cisco Jabber <---> Cisco VCS <---> telyHD (Our Video Product)
    Now, the call works well when the call is intiated from telyHD to Cisco Jabber.
    But, the call fails when the Cisco Jabber initiates the call towards telyHD.
    The packet capture on VCS shows that there is a syslog message from VCS to Jabber indicating the following when 180 Ringing is received from telyHD:
    Message [truncated]: tvcs: Event="Decode Error" Service="SIP" Src-ip="10.1.1.19" Src-port="5060" Dst-ip="10.1.11.11" Dst-port="25331" Detail="(User-Agent) Single header User-Agent appeared twice in message" Protocol="TCP" Level="1" UTCTime
    Can you please help in troubleshooting this issue. I don't see multiple "User-Agent" headers in the 180 Ringing sent by telyHD.
    I have attached the packet capture on VCS.

    Is there anybody to help me to find out what is wrong with my class (listing below)? I am sucessfuly using this class to encrypt and decrypt txt, html files but for unknown reasons I am unable to use it for e.g. pdf files. The encrypion somehow works but any atempt to decrypt is a failure.

    I found at least one thing wrong. In the decrypt
    method you are reading from 'fInputStream_' rather
    than 'dataInStream'.
    Worked for me on MSWord after changing this!

  • Conference call failure

    I am part of a non-profit that irregularly holds board meetings via a Skype audio conference call.  We usually have 7-8 members, all free skype users, in on the calls, but on our last one we had 10.  It was an utter failure.  Most members could not hear all of the contributions made by others -- audio would cut out while they were speaking.  Several couldn't hear anyone else talk for long stretches.  At least one never heard anyone else at all.  When we had conferences with the fewer number, one particular person had these kind of problems (which I attributed to her connection speed), but not everyone had them as happened this time.  Even the host (chairman) was having the same difficulties.  He thought we may have crossed some threshold in going from 8 to 10.  After nearly an hour of struggling to make ourselves heard, we gave up on the audio and did a few crucial agenda items via chat before ending the call.
    Would having the host of the conference call be a premium user possibly eliminate such problems, or do we have to address the Internet connection speed of the host?  (Or both, maybe?)
    It is really difficult for this non-profit to get its board members together at one time.  It can take a month or more to re-schedule after a failure like this.  We need something reliable, which was why we chose Skype in the first place.

    What protocol are you running on the GW??
    MGCP? H323?
    If H323, have you properly configured the codecs??? H323 uses G729 by default if nothing is configured.
    CUCM CFB only supports G711 and for MOH to work with other codecs you need to enable them under IPVMS service parameters.

  • CUCM 8.6.2 Cant view call history on certain Phones

    Have 3 specific user's who cannot view any call history wha so ever, Cant find much in relation to this issue via the web, Thy are the only one's experiencing the issue on the system. I have reset the phone to no avail. also rebuilt the phone from scratch in CM. having no luck figuring it out.

    We need to fix this first.
    Fix the issues related to DHCP & TFTP on the switch to which the phone is connected so that the phone can get the config from the DHCP server.
    Sample DHCP config on switch:

    option 150 ip A.S.D.X ----->TFTP server of CUCM

    Check the routing issues between phone and CUCM TFTP server.
    Upgrade the phone to the latest firmware and check if you have any issues.
