Cumulative Hot Fix 2 for ColdFusion 8.0.1?

We've been feeling a little leery about Adobe's stance with
CF8 for a while now due to the lack of patches and updates compared
to what we've been used to expecting from Macromedia. We've been
checking the patch and security pages a couple times a week looking
to see if there have been any changes. I noticed a change date on
the CF8 patch page the other day but no new patches showed up.
http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads_updates.html
Then today I noticed the date changed again at the bottom and
now there was a new patch at the top replacing the 2 that were
there before. Cumulative Hot Fix 2 for ColdFusion 8.0.1
The patch says it's from 10/20/2008 and if you decompress the
file it gives a date of 10/17/2008 on the file. This patch was new
to the public as of this week though. The reason I'm posting is to
try to understand why this patch has been sitting unreleased for
nearly 5 months now? There clearly have not been any changes to the
file in that time frame so that was either the best written patch
with the most exhaustive testing ever or someones been neglecting
posting the patches that have been completed.

@brentil, ah, ok. I understand now. Yep, that is curious. I
can confirm that it wasn't there on Mar 17, per the Google cache
page:
http://74.125.93.104/search?rlz=1C1GGLS_en-USUS291US306&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=cache:h ttp://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do%3FexternalId%3Dkb402604%26sliceId%3D1
Of course, by the time someone reads this in the future, it's
possible that the cached page will be different again. One would
want to note the date offered by Google at the top of the page it
shows.
So the real question is why the CHF link was note posted here
until now. I'm with you that some resources are not always updated.
I blogged about it:
http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2008/7/16/beware_technotes_may_not_be_listed _elsewhere
Perhaps more dismaying is that the CHF2 technote lists many
more HFs included than appear in the main hotfix page (the URL you
pointed to). So one might ask why we should have had to wait for a
CHF to get those hotfixes.
Also, I notice that the main cf8 downloads page (which you
pointed to originally) does not, in fact, refer to the 8.0.1 CHF
(though it does list 8.0 CHFs). That should be address.
I agree that we should expect the hotfixes page to list any
hotfixes or CHFs as soon as they're available. Sorry I missed your
main point.
Sadly, I don't know that we can expect too much to come of
this discussion here. There's just no guarantee that anyone
responsible would see it. But here's good news. A couple of blog
entries have raised the concern:
http://www.creative-restraint.co.uk/blog/post.cfm/coldfusion-8-0-1-cumulative-hotfix-2
http://blog.pengoworks.com/index.cfm/2009/3/18/ColdFusion-v801-Hot-Fix-2-released-in-Oct-2 008
And Ben Forta is a party to the second one, where I've just
added a comment asking to find who we can press about this.
Finally, just an FYI: that URL you offered is indeed the same
page that I'd offered. The URL I gave (
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402604)
comes from the "permanent link" offered at the bottom of all Adobe
technotes, which is just a nice shorter URL.

We have 5 load balanced web servers and we updated two of them to ColdFusion 9.0.1 : Cumulative Hot fix 2 and Coldfusion Security Hotfix APSB11-29 from ColdFusion 9.0.1 : Cumulative Hot fix 1.  When the two servers hit heavy load, the CPU maxed out and brought CF to a halt on those machines.  In the C:\ColdFusion9\runtime\logs there are timeouts in the logs waiting for an available thread to run.

These time outs continuted on until the service was restarted.  Has anyone experienced this when they updated to CHF02?

I am not at all surprised. There is no such thing as an update from Cumulative Hot fix 1 to Cumulative Hot fix 2!
The rule is, apply only one cumulative update at a time, normally the most recent one. It's all in the word "cumulative". Cumulative Hot fix 2 includes all of CHF1.
My advice is that you should uninstall both CHF1 and CHF2, restart ColdFusion, then re-install CHF02. However, be aware that uninstalling these hot fixes could be quite intricate. They involve updating a large number of ColdFusion's system files.
If you had followed the respective installation instructions for Cumulative Hotfix 1 and Cumulative Hotfix 2, then uninstalling should be straightforward. You will find the instructions at the bottom of those pages.

  • Installing Cumulative Hot Fix 2

The installation instructions for ColdFusion MX 7.0.1
Cumulative Hot Fix 2 say, "Note: Any individual hot fixes
previously installed that are now contained in this cumulative hot
    fix should be removed."
Since I previously installed the MX 7.0.1 Cumulative Hot Fix
1, does that mean that I have to remove it before I install
Cumulative Hot Fix 2, since they contain some of the same hotfixes?
If so, what is the procedure for removing it?

    Hi,
You really do not have to worry about previous cumulative
hotfixes as coldfusion server does not load them into jvm. It only
loads the latest cumulative hotfix. Article recommends you to
remove individual hotfixes as coldfusion does not check for each
    hotfix in the cumulative hotfixes.
If you really want to remove the previous cumulative hotfix,
go to Coldfusion-home/lib/updates (standalone install) and delete
chf7010001.jar. For J2EE install of coldfusion, go to
    Cfusion-ear/cfusion-war/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/updates directory and
delete the chf7010001.jar. You will have to restart coldfusion
    server after making the change.
    Thanks,
    Swathi.

  • CFMX 7.0.2 Cumulative Hot Fix 3 Question...

I feel like an idiot for asking this, but I'm hoping someone can clarify the install instructions for CFMX 7.0.2 Cumulative Hot Fix 3 for me.
I totally get uploading the chf7020003.jar file through the CF Admin (which really just copies the JAR to the cfusion/lib/updates folder), but what's throwing me off is in the bottom of the document where it talks about hot fix #65719 (CFDocument hot-fix). This hot fix requires manually swapping out some JARS in the cfusion/lib folder. I'm all good with that too.
My ultimate question here is DOES CFMX 7.0.2 Cumulative Hot Fix 3 ****require****  hot fix #65719 (CFDocument hot-fix)?  Or can I just install the chf7020003.jar and not worry about the CFDocument hot-fix? I'd like to NOT install the CFDocument hot-fix unless it's required.
Also, I know the instructions for installing the Cumulative updates say to remove other installed hot-fixes, but I didn't see hot-fix #65719 in the list of hotfixes that Cumulative Hot Fix 3 includes, so I'm guessing I'd need both?
This has got to seem like a silly question, but it just doesn't seem clear to me, any help to clarify this is greatly appreciated.

My reading of the cumulative hotfix 3 page is that the #65719 hotfix
is not included in the cumulative hotfix 3 and needs to be installed
separately. (Especially from "The following update requires that the
files be installed directly to the operating system and not through
the standard hot fix procedure" I read that #65719 cannot be installed
via a normal hotfix, which cumulative hotfix 3 seems to be).

  • Coldfusion 9.0.1 cumulative hot fix question...

We have CHF2 on our 9.0.1 server plus alll post CHF2 security updates. Just the other day I noticed that a cumulative HF 3 and 4 were released and I must have missed these in early 2013 when they were released. My question is is a CHF2 server with all security updates equivalent to CHF with all security updates? Or did CHF3 and CHF4 get some non security related hotfixes and other enhancements?
I'm asking all of this as I'd like to get to the latest JDK 1.7.
And if I should update to CHF4 can I just apply that directly? Or are there possibly a few files in CFIDE and WEBINF or jars that were the non security related hotfixes?

    Hello samd,
    The CHF4 included Security bulletins APSB11-29, APSB12-06, APSB12-15, APSB12-21, APSB12-26, and APSB13-03 and some bug fixes.
    samd wrote:

You can apply CHF4 directly on the server. Also, as Carl suggested, please take a backup/snapshot of the ColdFusion files/folders including CFIDE.

I'm guessing Adobe will release CHF5 shortly after I decide to do this.
    Hope this helps.

  • ColdFusion MX 7.02 - CFDocument Cumulative Hot Fix

Is anyone else having any issues with this new hotfix to fix
the text cutoffs when using <cfdocument> to pdf? This hotfix
    came out on 6/26/07.
It appears to have fixed the text chopping issue when a block
of text spills over into the next page, but my table sizes/font
sizes seem to be all messed up now.

We just applied the new hotfix -- dated 9/4/2007. Now, the
font in our page header is much smaller than the font in our page
body -- and everything was perfect prior to the patch install. Has
    anyone else seen this issue?

  • Hot Fix for Skip Logic not working on mobile devices.  Me 1 - Adobe Support 0!

This is just a tip to anyone having the same issue.  It seems that most mobile devices cannot process Skip Logic rules tied to a dropdown menu option.  It is important to know if you never tested this on a mobile device for youself so I strongly encourage that you check this on both Android and iPhone.  The single and multi selections DO work so that is the way to get around this issue.  Here is a sample of our actual web application www.gmcloans.com/quickquote.html with the functional fields.  I created a simple sample test application https://adobeformscentral.com/?f=n8qBqcnKMxR5mRmbAPwkqQ (with QR code for quicker access if you're not on a device now) utilizing all of the selection features for you to test with other devices to help save you the time I lost.
    Pro:  It works.
    Con:
Lost time...searching for this only forum (at least that I could find) with a solution and having rearranging your application.
Uniformity and compaction....If you have a long dropdown list dependent on Skip Logic rules you will have to get confortable with having a lot more information spralled across your application.
Adobe Support...To my frustration I had to spend two (2) 20+ minute phone calls with support about this issue only for them to tell me that they don't have a fix and never had anyone express this particular conflict issue with them.
    I hope this helps you.
    Brian Taylor

I am still trying to find a version of your device here. The closest I got was a HTC Inspire 4G /w Android 2.3 and the skip logic on the dropdown worked correctly. I'll get back to you once I get to try it on a HTC DNA /w Android 4.1.1.
Meanwhile were you able to try your form on any other mobile device? I know that you want this to work on your device and we will fix this if there is a bug there... but I'm just curious if you were able on your side to see it work on a mobile device at all.

  • Hot fix cf801/cfide

newbe...how can I verify that the hot fix that I applied is valid. I downloaded (cf801.&cfide zip files) and followed the instructions. After stop/start the services...accessed the admin console and click on the I did not see any differences between our dev vs prod environment. Any help would be appreciated.

I am hoping you realize that the cumulative hot fix for CF801 includes not only CFIDE. The hot fix installation instructions tell you you have to copy files to the following 3 directories
    {CF_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY}\lib
    {CF_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY}\wwwroot\CFIDE
    {CF_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY}\wwwroot\WEB-INF
When I unzipped the hot fix download file, I saw that it includes the update JAR file CF801\lib\updates\hf801-00002.jar. I would therefore expect you to see hf801-00002.jar as the update level, when you go to the System Information page in the Administrator.
If you don't, then it could be that you have performed the installation incorrectly. For example, did you stop ColdFusion before installing the hot fix? Did you then delete any previous update JARs before installing the current cumulative hot fix?

  • Failed to read/update the registry for the BO XI R2 Critical Hot Fix

We are trying to apply service pack 4 for the BO XI R2 Sp4 for SAP Integration Kits and received the following error message during install and unable to proceed:
"Failed to read/update the registry for the BO XI R2 Critical Hot Fix for Partner Integration Kits"
We had applied a Critical Hot Fix about one week ago and it might be causing the error. How do we uninstall the Critical Hot Fix if it is indeed causing the problem?
Additionally, we have uninstalled the Integration Kit and reinstalled it hoping it will solve the problem but it didn't.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Please post this query to the Business Objects Enterprise Administration forum:
    BI Platform
That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there. Also, all BOE queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • Hot Fixes or Updater?

I am currently running CF 6.1 (with Updater) on a Windows
2003 server. Several times a day JRUN seems to go nuts and runs
both CPUs at about 30% for many minutes at a time, sometimes
longer. This is not load from an application load, just JRUN
    running.
Does anyone have an idea what is happening?
I thought mayby there was some type of update I had to apply,
so I went to the Update , hot fix web page of CF 6.1
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=b3a939ce
Now I wonder, are these hot fixes that are already in the 6.1
updater, or hot fixes that can be applied after the updater is
    already applied?
Thanks for any and all help.

The items listed under a section "ColdFusion MX 6.1 Updater
Hot Fixes" for example, are the hot fixes that have come out after
that version came out and need to be applied to it.

  • Hotfix for ColdFusion ver 7.0.0.91690

I am responsible to update ColdFusion hot fixes for vulnerability apsb09-12 for server ver. 7.0.0.91690 but not able to find it any where.  Is it ok to use  cold Fusion 7.0.2 updates for 7.0.0.91690? I am new for cold fusion!

I suspect that the hotfixes for the vulnerability you refer to are intended only to be applied to a 7.0.2 instance of ColdFusion and not an earlier 7.x version.  I reccomend that you update your server to version 7.0.2, then apply security updates.
You can download the ColdFusion MX 7 Updater 2, which will update your server to version 7.0.2, at the link below.

    Hi Charlotte,
You don't say what your version of Windows you have. Assuming XP, go to Start | Run, type DXDIAG and click OK. Click the Sound tab and run the tests to eliminate a hardware problem first of all. If you don't hear anything, check your cables first of all. Also make sure "Mute" isn't checkmarked in your sound setup. You'll find that in Windows Control Panel.
Which browser do you use? If you have Firefox 4, sign up to the HTML5 trial @ http://www.youtube.com/html5
HTML5 is the latest video standard and doesn't require Flash player. Google is in the process of converting all its files to work with the new format. It may solve you problem. If you don't have Firefox 4, you can get it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
    IE8 doesn't support HTML5.
To clean out your temp files, go to Start | Run, type: CLEANMGR and click OK. Click OK again to start the utility. Tick all the boxes except "Compress old files" because the latter takes too long, and then click OK. You can run this utility any time you wish by the way.
The above steps will hopefully fix your problem. If not, post here again please.
