Cumulative Update 3 and Agent Upgrade

After applying CU3 to SCCM 2012 SP1 there is an agent update that needs deployed to all current client machines. Does the deployment of this update force a full install of the 170MB agent or does it just apply a small update?
Also I have a logon script that currently installs the agent on new client PCs. It copies the ccmsetup.exe locally to each PC and runs it with my site code as an argument. If I want new PCs to get the new version of the agent which includes the update from
CU3 do I simply just copy over a new ccmsetup.exe that CU3 creates or will the deployment I created for the current PCs be applied the new PCs once they become members of a relevant collection?

Sorry, another slight mis-statement. The update to SCEP (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2907566) to bring it to the latest version is available via the WSUS catalog and thus can be deployed
using Software Updates to systems where SCEP is already installed. As long as you have the proper product and category selected (Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 and updates), you should be able to search for this in your software updates list and thus
deploy it.

Hmm, now I am a bit confused. I picked up that update in December's patch Tuesday deployment and as you can see below it is compliant on nearly all my client machines. However the KB article says:
To apply this update, you must have one of the following installed:
System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager
Cumulative Update 3 for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1
Service Pack 2 for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 and
Update Rollup 1 for Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010
I don't have CU3 applied yet but the update has been applied to at least 327 machines. How can this be?
Also, the machines that I DO want to get the update, namely Server 2012 R2 machines, aren't picking up the update at all.

Strange issue, but I'll try to lay it out as clearly as possible.
If we apply CU #2 or #3 on a licensed SQL 2014 Entr. installation, we can't get MDS working. We receive the "The current SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS" error.
If we do the same, but use the downloaded trial isntaller from the Microsoft site as base for our installation, everything works fine.
If we again use that trial install software, but instead of choosing trial, we enter our product key from above, again MDS results in the beforementioned error.
So to wrap up:
Install SQL 2014 with licensed software + CU #2 or #3 --> MSD won't work (The current SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS)
Install SQL 2014 with a downloaded trial installer + apply CU#2 or #3 --> MDS works
Install SQL 2014 with a downloaded trial installer, BUT enter our Product Key + apply CU#2 or #3 --> MSD won't work (The current SQL Server edition is not supported by MDS)
Why do we need CU #3? Our MDS database will reside on another server with a named instance. Apparently #CU 3 is needed if we want this setup to work.
But what startles me the most is the fact that I have no problem at all when installing SQL 2014 as a trial, but everything breaks if I install SQL 2014 with a Product Key.

Service Packs, Security Updates and Cumulative Updates

I would like to find a document that would help me understand and clarify Service Packs, Security Updates and Cumulative Updates versions and relationships.
Things like. Cumulative Updates include old Security Updates. Cumulative Updates do not overwrite applied Security Updates, etc.
For instance,
I am upgrading a server from: 10.0.5512 (SQL 2008 SP3, After Security Update MS12-70) To: 10.0.5861 (SQL 2008 SP3 CU17).
Would the MS12-70 (2754849) I installed still be present after installing CU17? The reason for doubt was that I saw another version of MS12-70 that includes
CU 1 to 7(KB2716435). So makes me wonder about it.
I am probably not able to explain myself right but, the idea is to find a document that can explain how the build information and versioning works.
Some how I have the idea that Cumulative updates would not include Security Updates.

Security updates are for Windows not SQL Server. SQL server releases Cumulative updates after that a comprehensive service pack is released which includes all fixes that were done in Cumulative updates.
Cumulative updates fix only a certain type of problem(for which they are created) and should only be applied if facing issue
Service packs are more through and Inclusive and should be applied and contains many fixes and sometimes introduces few features as well. SP are more thoroughly tested as compared to CU For Cumulative
update from Microsoft:
We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment.
This cumulative package is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing these specific problems.
This cumulative update contains all the hotfixes and all the updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2014 update release.
Windows patch has hardly any relation to SQL server SP and CU.

I have a question regarding ms sql patching. We are planning to install ms sql server 2005 service pack 4 onto our ms sql engine. After the installation of SP4, we would like to install cumulative update 3. I have noticed that cumulative update 3 patches less
fixes to the files than cumulative updates 2 and 1. Am I correct in believing that we need to install the cumulative update packages in sequential order or can we install the cumulative update 3 straight away?

You can apply SP4 for SQL Server 2005, then CU3 for SP4 directly. CU3 is the last Cumultaive Update for SQL Server 2005
SP4.

Edition Migration and Cumulative Updates

Hello all,
I have migrated a SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition with CU4 to SQL Server 2014 BI Edition. The BI-Edition has been installed from the RTM-Media. Do I have to apply the cumulative update again?
All services show the correct edition (BI) and version number (CU4). So may I assume that everything is correct?

You need to reapply all service packs and cumulative updates since SQL Server setup will remove any updates as part of
the edition upgrade process.
Examine the Summary.txt log file to verify everything upgraded fine. The following article will help you locate the file
on disk.

Adobe's use of SCUP and cumulative and non-cumulative updates

Seem to be having a problem with Adobe and their released updates for SCCM 2007 SCUP. Although each released update is added in to SCUP, there seems to be no logic working to correctly install the product (Flash or Reader are examples) so that SCUP
can correctly install from bare-bones to latest version, figuring out which updates need to be applied in the correct order.
I would think it could determine to apply the latest FULL version, then any non-cumulative updates in the correct order, but...that doesn't appear to be the case.
Is this a Microsoft issue, Adobe issue, or...working as designed, and you have to install EACH point upgrade, manually, as released?

The key issue here is that the Adobe catalogs only contain *updates*; they do not contain full installers. Second, Adobe has been grossly inconsistent in whether updates are incremental or cumulative (at least with respect to Reader). The best approach is to
publish them all (well, unfortunately, you can't publish all of the Flash updates, but those at least, really are always cumulative).

After upgrading to Mavericks I cannot update iPhoto and iMovie. Why?

Just got my first Mac, an iMac. I upgraded to Maverick and once done I find there are updates available for iPhoto and iMovie. First I have tried to register "accept" the two apps. Nothing happens. Then I try to update them and get the answer that these apps was installed with another Apple ID. The thing is that I don't have any other Apple ID and noone else has touched my iMac. I have tried to reinstall Maverick three times now but end up with the same result. Anyone who has any clue or have experienced the same problem?

Open System Preferences > Users & Groups then select the Password tab.
Make sure you see the correct Apple ID.
If not, click Change.
Make sure you are logged into your admin account before updating apps.
Reinstalling Mavericks requires using OS X Recovery but there's no reason to reinstall Mavericks just to update your apps.

I am unable to update my album art since I commenced using match (and after upgrading to Yosemite). How can I 'unembed' old cover art and replace?

I am unable to update my album art on my iMac since I started using Match (and after upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.3). A message advises that it's not possible to removed old artwork if it's embedded. How can I 'unembed' old cover art and replace?

Normally artwork recovered with iTunes is stored as a separate artwork file and iTunes refers to that file to display artwork when you click on a track. However, if you then copy the file to another player the artwork file is left behind and the track will not display the artwork on the other player. To get around this it is possible to embed the artwork in the music file itself so it always travels with the file. Artwork can be embedded by you or files from third party sources may arrive with embedded artwork. iTunes apparently now won't replace artwork for such files. You can accomplish this by completely deleting artwork for a file or set of files in Get Info, then getting iTunes to fetch artwork which will then be set as a reference file rather than being embedded.
I use an old iTunes so unless you are using an ancient iTunes it won't help for me to give you great details. To erase artwork I simply get info on a series of files and check the box next to the artwork box without adding any artwork and close. To do it for single file I Get Info, go to the artwork display tab and click delete. Here's a Windows reference for a newer iTunes (but the "old Get Info" reference is for early iTunes 12 and no longer works with newer):I cannot delete embedded album artwork in iTunes 12

My iPod touch won't connect to wifi. Password is correct. Already reset network settings and restored ipod to original settings. Already updated iTunes and upgraded iPod to iOS 6.

A message keeps popping up when I try to join my network that says, "unable to join the network."

Now, the password isn't working and there's no wifi signal.
The camera is working well now, but the wifi is messed up. I didn't expect any of this to happen. The internet is all I use the iPod for. Now, the iPod is useless to me. Please help?

Have you tried resetting network settings, then unplugging modem and router from power for 40 seconds then plugging back in letting the lights stabilize and Then recconecting with the ipod>?

Update install and delete error says itunes is on a network unavailable. I also upgraded Itunes and now it won't recognize my Ipad touch

I upgraded Itunes about a month ago and since then It does not recognize my Ipod and then I tried to update again and it won't upgrade. The error message says it's on a unavailable network path not found. So I tried to get tech support they told me to delete and start over. I went through my control panel and it gave me the same network error and would not delete the software. I am beyond frazzeled over this. Please help.

Essentially 'b noir' is correct, it will be relating to the .msi file that is, for lack of a better word, screwed. It's a pretty long process in order to cleanly remove and redownload the correct file.
Not really a long process if you can hunt down a copy of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. If you have that installed and working, then so long as you know which particular msi (or msis) are being complained about, you can get past the issue in most cases pretty quickly. For example, for an itunes.msi message see:

If you are using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, start your computer from the installation disc. Then use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility.

Finally, I cannot see why Time Machine would leave out your playlists and ratings? Think about it. Why would Time Machine specifically copy everything BUT your playlists and ratings? we have these patches 7012242,7031906,5961654,5632264 installed on the agent home.
I have also disabled the instance health metrics for all the 10g target db on this host.
Anybody has any idea how to resolve this . This is becoming quite annoying .

Hi,
Just to comfort you, and yes we do monitor 10.2.0.3 instances. This comes from the emagent.trc on one of many rdbms server. The same is not found on other servers running 10.2.0.3 instances. The time coincide with an agent crash on this server. Keeping an eye on this thread while trying to find out what it is related to.

Click here, install the DVD, run Software Update, open the Mac App Store, and try purchasing Mountain Lion. If you get told it's incompatible, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.

Update feature and upgrades for 2011 macbook pro Help!!

if i use the update feature does that update my entire computer bios and all? is there any reason to manually download anything? i have a early 11 macbook pro with all the new software and latest running system. if anybody knows of any upgrades that can be done besides ram i would love to hear what it is, thanks

It can definitely be done safely, and will not void warranty. Apple has made it very easy to install new memory and a new battery (If needed). I went with Crucial 16GB Kit (2, 8GB sticks, DDR3). As I said it's a very efficient plug and play upgrade. If you have any more questions let me know, hope this helped!
