CUP 8.6, CUCM 8.6 for OCS RCC

hi we have the cup8.6, cucm 8.6 integrated to OCS for RCC.
All dashboard and system checks on cup are ticked ok. However on user MOC client we get the following error : 'cannot connect to the phone system, the call control server may be temporarily unavailble' .
we have trunk from ccm to cup, in cup we have ACL's for OCS and in cup we have cti gateway and ctigw application user with 8 cti cucm's.
User was on a cup 7, with ccm 7 to same ocs and all worked fine, issues after migration to ccm 8 . Move user back to ccm 7, i.e. register the phone to old ccm and using cup 7 all works fine again.
Any advise appreciated.

CUPS or IM/P as its called now in version 9.x doesnt require a license. You just need the UCM license which I know is available on the website. IM/P works with CUCM from version 9.x and its tightly integrated as far as version goes.

Enterprise Messenger for OCS 2005 and OS 5.0

Does anyone know if RIM is working on a release for Enterprise Messenger that will be compatible with Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 that will run on handheld OS 5.0? They released the OCS 2007/5.0 compatible version 2.7 several weeks ago, but I have not seen the update for OCS 2005/5.0.

FYI -- typically, forward looking statements are discouraged on these forums...and authoritative future information is definitely not encouraged...anyone who knows the answer would be barred from revealing it as it would be proprietary information, not for disclosure.

Server Sizing for OCS

Does anyone / Oracle have a Server Sizing
document for OCS and/or individual modules
[Files, Email, Calendar etc].
Looking at sizing for 100 users, 1000 users,
3000 users.

we're using two nodes of 9iAS in two data centers. We've been told that it isn't possible to add the 9iAS to a 9iAS cluster. Does anybody has experience to use two nodes of 9iAS of OCS2 as cluster with load balancing and automatic configuration deployment functionality?
Any help would be welcomed...

You can use RAC for the databases but the infrastructure is only supported with HA CFC (Cold failover Cluster). You can look at the document for this in this location.

Startup and Shutdown scripts for OCS 9.0.4 on Windows?

Hi,
I wanted to know if startup and shutdown scripts for OCS 9.0.4 on Windows are available.
I am thinking something like the ocsctl_sample scripts that OCS10g included.
I have checked the OCS 9.0.4 documentation and not a lot of information for the windows platform is avaiable.

There is no scripts that comes with 9.0.4.
One possibility is to just write the commands you normally use in a batch-file, but note that then you have no checking, and if OCS runs on several machines you should have some checking for required processes etc.
We are using some scripts that does this, but I'm not shure where they came from, possibly from Metalink or from this forum. Try a search. Our scripts are changed quite a bit for our needs, but I might be able to find the original ones.

Backup stratgy for ocs R1 or R2

is there any recommanded backup startgy for OCS as prodacut and for files/email for users. and tools for backup and restore

i've not looked at this yet, but ocs rel 2 (not sure about rel 1), allows you to backup individual users accounts, via oesbkp (perhaps worth having a look at).
Not just that, but you can also use the undo management feature, to recover mails from a certain point in time. If you have outlook connector users, they don;t even need to ask you for this. There is an option in connector, that allows them to retrieve messages deleted within a certain time frame. Of course this all depends on how much storage space you have for your undo tablespace (1 weeks worth would be quite large i imagine - then again this depends on how much information is generated at your site). Have a look at the 9i admin guide to see how to calculate how much undo space you would require for your site.
Apart from that you have logminer, which you can use to mine your logs (helps if you have archiving enabled - maintains all changes made to your database) to recover mails.
For more details on these options check out the email admin guide, chapter 6.

Codecs for OCS

Hi,
we have CUCM 7.0.1 & CUPS 7.0.2 integrated with OCS, with the MOC client setup as a remote destination for each IP Phone. Everything is located at HQ site with two branch sites hanging off the main site.
From my understanding is that OCS only does G711, so my question is how does the remote branch speak to a MOC client at the HQ site.....in other words if a remote branch IP Phone dials a HQ IP Phone it is G729 but the call is answered on the HQ MOC client and so the call fails.
how does one get around this?

I don't know anything (although I would be shocked if new DNG variants are "proprietary", probably documentation and other support for it is just lagging - this a guess), except it could be that the DNG enhancements are part of the 1.4 spec and that the codecs only support up through 1.3.
Note: ACR version (e.g. 6.6, 7.1) is not the same as DNG version (e.g. 1.3, 1.4).
There's a reason they call it the bleeding edge...
If it's any consolation, exiftool does not support v1.4 yet either.

OCS RCC with CUPS

Hi All,
We are testing the RCC features of OCS with the integration of OCS,CUPS,CCM.
From the MOC user's are able to dial the extnsions from the contact list.
the problem we are facing here is even the calls are answered which is initiated via MOC .but in the MOC status showing like :calling only".
When i checking the CUPS real time trace, there is no info message in send to OCS to from the CUPS.we couldn't some more info from the cti trace also.

CUP - No control of existing user for a new account request

Hello everybody,
I have an issue with CUP tool.
When you want to create a new user with a new account request and the user ID that you specified is already used in the backend system (user already exists), there is no control in CUP and the provisioning is done. Only a short and wrong error message appears after provisioning in Audit information part of the global review screen. This message is: Provisioning failed, user already exists, but, however, CUP assign the new roles to the user.
Do you know a way to solve this problem?
For information, only the reciprocal issue is managed by CUP: if you try to change a user that doesn't exist in the backend system, CUP propose you the parameter Create user if it doesn't exist in the auto-provisioning section of configuration tab.

Hello Ben,
This is one of the requests which should and i guess would definately be taken up by SAP for it's next versions as an enhancements. Since the tool does not have the correct procedure, as it should be, in place; what I can suggest you as a workaround is to have a manual step in between, when the request for a user creation comes.
This step would involve the task which is to be carried out by the Security guy to manually look if the user ID requested already exists, for every request for User ID creation. This looks a tedious task but considering this can lead to more trouble than actually performing it, untill it is rectified; we need to be careful with this.

CUP Risk analysis bad error message for TooManyViolationsException

Hello,
We are running CUP GRC-SAC-SAE 5.3_13.0 ( Build ID:04080510 ) with Compliance Calibrator 4.0 in our R/3 systems. We recently had a situation where the number of conflicts identified by CC was too large for CUP to handle. Instead of getting a serious error message that was meaningful, we got "x Access to all actions". The request was approved (manually) for SODs, and the user ended up with an account that was outlandish.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some threshhold that we could raise in CC?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

CUP denies requests with SAP_ALL, the message Access to all actions is typically the one you get when you have a user with SAP_ALL. When you say the request was approved manually do you mean you handeled it out of the CUP system or CUP approved the request despite giving you the error message?

Global Database Name for OCS Database with domainname that include a dash

Hi guys,
The domain name for the network that I'm installing OCS 10g have a dash in the domainname. When installing the OCS database, it stated that the global database name cannot have a dash. So I change the dash in domain name of the server with an underscore.
After restart the installation, and putting the global database name with a underscore, the installation is sucessfull. My question is if I change back the server domain name back to include the dash, will this affect the running of the database ? and after the installation can I changed the global database name to include the dash ?
Is there any to to ensure a database installation will be sucessfull with a dash in the domain name for the global database name ?

Rename the global database name using an ALTER DATABASE statement. For example, enter:
ALTER DATABASE RENAME GLOBAL_NAME TO sales.us.oracle.com;

CUCM - best option for physical shift and hardware change

Are you planning on upgrading at the same time? If so you could use Prime Collaboration Deployment which can do most the work for you. Essentially build a new cluster then move your phones over by changing the TFTP 150 option.
I don't have a lot of experience with the security side but found the below which should be of assistance.

Load Balance Configuration for OCS 10g

Hi guys,
A few question on the load balancer requirement and setup for a OCS 10g cluster.
1. Can Pound be used as the load balancer for the OCS cluster. (pound is an application for load balancer and reverse proxy).
2. Basically the load balancer will have two network interface, the first nic is connected to the
user network, and the second interface is connected at the backend network where the ocs cluster is located. My question is at which network interface the virtual server name (ldap, sso and http ) for the ocs cluster should be created ? at the user network interface or the ocs network interface ?. Do the virtual name need an ip addresses ?
