CUP Connector names

Hello CUP Experts,
I'm certain that many of you have encountered this problem.
Each CUP SAP Connector must be named the same as the CUA system name or the logical system name.
- In the CUA case this is no problem.
But when I need to provision system families without CUA connection the problem starts.
We refresh our Q/A system from the Production system a couple of times per year, since the Q/A system is as big as the production system we let it have the same logical system as the production system.
- Our admins say that a logical system name conversion would take days and we don't have that time.
Here the CUP problem starts, I have to choose not to provision the Q/A system if I want to provision the production system because CUP forces me to use the logical system name as the connector name.
Has anyone been able to solve this?

Hi,
I don't think so there is any option available in GRC to differentiate this thing as both have same logical names. Generally, after system refresh, BDLS needs to run which changes the logical hostname. I think you should run BDLS after system copy in the target system to change the logical system name. This is time consuming but it should be part of post-processing of system copy activity.
Thanks

  • Role Provisioning failed for System(s) : Connector Name . Error Message : malformedRequest

Hi Everyone we are facing following issue in GRC-SAC-SAE 5.3_16.3. So far our CUP was connected to Enterprize portal (7.01) and auto provisioning for group to users worked. However now it is not working with below error.
    Role Provisioning failed for System(s) : <Connector Name>. Error Message :
    malformedRequest
    Failed request now
    Successful request used to provision
    Regards,
    Arpan Paik

    Arpan,
We used to get those "malformed request" errors. We dealt with them by requesting the portal to be re-booted during the weekend maintenance window, making the portal security changes manually, cancelling the CUP request and notifying the requester. It's not a great solution, I know, but it was all we could come up with at the time. Then they upgraded the portal to NW 7.31, which is incompatible with GRC 5.3, and we have to do everything manually, so our situation went from bad to worse. Good luck!

  • CUP connector configuration issue

It is mentioned in the Configuration guide that, the connector that is used for RAR (corresponds to a backend system) should be used for CUP aswell.
But, when i create a connector in webdynpro->content administration,
RAR is showing the connector name(s) in the following syntax (even though we create multiple connectors with different names under content administration for same backend system):
    <message server name>_<system name>_<client number>
where as CUP is showing the connector name same as that of content administration.
    now, my questions are
Q1) how to know which connector is being used by RAR out of multiple connectors defined under content administration, so that I can use the same for CUP also.
Q2) Do we need to select model connector or metadata connector for CUP?
Q3) Do we need to select VIRSAR3 connector or VIRSAXSR3 connector for CUP?

don't get confused between connector name in content admin and one refered to by CUP & RAR Config guide.
<<<< It is mentioned in the Configuration guide that, the connector that is used for RAR (corresponds to a backend system) should be used for CUP aswell.>>>>
the connector name refer is the the one which you create inside CONFIGURATION TAB of RAR & CUP.
it is called VSYSKEY in VIRSA_CC_SYSTEMC table.
both the name should be exactly same (case sensitive....... maya be......)
best is that it should be same as SID or SIDCLNT
<<<<<<<Q2) Do we need to select model connector or metadata connector for CUP?>>>>>>>>
<<<<Q3) Do we need to select VIRSAR3 connector or VIRSAXSR3 connector for CUP?>>>>>
these are used for JCO connection. and JCO connection are used only by RAR.
when defining system inside Configuration tab of RAR you have option to select 'connection type'.
'connection type' can be Adaptive RFC , then you select JCO connection defined for that System in next drop down.
please refer to Config guide for RAR for more detail.
other option is 'SAP JCO' if you select this then you have can give all details of server , client, user id and password and create or defined system inside RAR (this is what is refered as connector by all config guides or CUP and RAR)

  • Connector name inside Remote enabled module

    Hi
I have a remote enabled function module which can be called from any system.
But the problem is that I need to have to connector name inside the FM code through which the call has made.
    Is it possible?
For eg. We may call the FM from a system like
    CALL 'MY_REMOTE_MODULE'
    DESTINATION 'connector_name'
    EXPORTING
    IMPORTING
Can I have the name of the connector(connector_name in above code) inside the FM code without explicitly passing it in exporting parameter?
    Thanks
    Ankur

Not sure if there is another way next to passing it as an additional parameter. Why is this simple solution not an option for you?

  • CUP Connector Deletion script

    Hi everyone,
I have, yet again, an issue, and this time, it's with deleting data.  For the purpose of this discussion, we are working on our sandbox system.
In our CUP issues from the past (SUMMARY: BASIS upgraded, without letting us know, and now our AE 5.2 is not working, and we are trying to figure it out), we finally went to SAP and now SAP is trying to run some of their scripts to get to the bottom of our issue.
It turns out we have a few connectors in CUP, with roles associated with them, that aren't really connected to any system.  These connectors were created as place holders for non SAP systems so that "roles" on those systems could be included in requests and they could flow through the workflow.
Anyway SAP says that's not going to work - either the connectors should be in working order or they need to be deleted, since deactivating the connectors still prevents their testing from proceeding.
However, deleting the connectors isn't easy - CUP won't let me delete the connector as roles are associated with them, and there are also requests (test requests from the past) that are associated with those connectors.
SAP came back with a list of tables from where we can go through and just delete the rows of data that are associated with the connectors.
Before doing something like that, I wanted to get your thoughts and know if there are any scripts that have already been put together for such a purpose.
    Thanks,
    Santosh

    Hello Santosh,
SAP did used to provide scripts to delete data from GRC applications. Requests from CUP, Management reports data from RAR etc.. This was the way earlier as there was no way available from within the applications to delete this sort of data.. Connectors in GRC applications cant be deleted without deleted associated data and scripts were used earlier to accomplish this task..
I would still recommend that you take backup of GRC database so that it could be restored in case..

  • CUP Connector type SAP EP LDAP

    Hi Experts,
I noticed the connector type SAP EP LDAP the other day when setting up some new ABAP connectors.  Does anyone know what this type of connector is used for?  I couldn't find any documentation on it.

    Hi Christopher,
this is what I got told - I'm not sure whether this made it into the doco yet:
"  SAPEP  LDAP is used for LDAP Group provisioning. It will have 2 LDAP connectors mapped.  Internal and External.  In CUP you can import the  groups form these two ldaps and provision them using Access Request. "

  • CUP change name link

    Hi All
In CUP 5.3, in End user Personalization, there should be a field as "Change Name Link". To my surprise, this field is available in DEV server but only this particular field is not available in our GRC PRD server (both the servers have identical configuration).
Could somebody share some possible reason/resolution for this discrepancy?
    Thanks
    Abhijeet

    Hi Abhijeet,
I surprise why the 'CHANGE NAME LINK filed not showing.
But If you can login to oracle database and insert the following enrty then your problem will be resolved.
    insert into sapsr3db.VT_AE_EU_PRSNL values ('CHANGE NAME LINK',1,'',0,1,0);
But SAP will not recommend this procedure. By inserting one row in the table will not harmful, You can go with it.

  • Cups printer names

Hello, i need some help :).
It happens that i'm installing arch in a small bussiness, as a small file server, backup server (rsync data from windows machines) and printer server, everything is working ok, but i've a small problem: Printer names: Using samba, hal (i presume) and cups, the printers are detected as "NAME_OF_PRINTER_XX_TH45643463_A.K.A.GARBAGE".  Now the problem is that there's some notebooks in the system without NT machines (yeah... win9x) that doesn't support long names of shares. Is there a way to force a name for the printers?? It seems that cups doesn't provide that options and my knowledge of arch in this topic is not really good. (note that everything is working as expected, except this issue... and no... http://server:631 as a local port in windows is not an option)
Thanks in advance, and sorry about my english.
    J.

I think the easiest way to share linux printers with windows, is Samba.  After you install samba, there is a setting in the config file to allow sharing of CUPS printers.  Give it a shot.

  • DIO Connectors name/vendor on sbRio 9602

    Hello,
i'm working with Altium Designer on a PCB on which i have to put a female connector that fits one of four DIO connectors on the sbRIO 9602 board.
Can you please tell me how this type of connector is called and if NI provide a library to import in Altium?
    Thanks.

  • New cups daemon name

I've noticed that an update changed the cups daemon to "cupsd". Now a user would have to do rc.d start cupsd instead of the previous rc.d start cups. This well also mess up your rc.conf because if you have it set to load a daemon named cups it wouldn't load because the daemon has been changed to cupsd. Just thought it would be nice if they could post this change on the archlinux.org homepage

Hi there, welcome to the forums.
You should always read pacman output. The change is not that recent http://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/ … 82095a0421

  • Steps for replacing a connector in GRC CUP and RAR

Hi All,  We have GRC 5.3 CUP and RAR installed and I would like to replace an existing connector PRD with one called PRD010.  Does anyone have the necessary steps to follow to perform this?  Your input is appreciated.

    Hi Sudip,
Sorry I didn't clarify and thanks for responding.  This will be the same backend.  I want to change the connector name within the RAR and CUP config, etc.  I'm concerned about all the "tags" in the database tables pertaining to this connector name if you know what I mean.  It seems that when you make a change like this you end up with data in the database tagged with the old connector names which makes it difficult to clean out the old stuff unless maybe there is a proper sequence of steps to go thru.  Can it be just as simple as creating the new connector and then exporting and importing the rules with the new connector name?  Maybe I'm making this more difficult than it really is.

  • Installing OIM connectors using a different name.

    Hello,
In my OIM environment, I have two target resources that are sun directories.
In my OIM env I installed an 9.0.4.12 SJSDS connector (OIM version is 9.1.0.2). The out of the box connector names all OIM artifacts using the convention IPLANET or IPNT (e.g. UD_IPNT_USR, adpIPLANETMODIFYUSER).
Since I want two instances of this connector I need to use a different name. To customize this name do I need to edit the xml files (iPlanetResourceObject.xml, iPlanetXLResourceObject.xml)? Seems very tedious and error-prone.
Has anyone done this, can you share your experiences.
    Thanks,
    Sunny

It is a very common method to enable support of multiple AD domains (with different ROs).
It is tedious and error prone but it is the easiest way to get this done. You may want to consider writing some XSLT to automate parts of the process.
    Best regards

  • User Data Source in CUP AC5.3

    Hello,
What is the functionality of the User data sourcein Compliant User Provisioning?
We are using HR module and i have created the connector using the Jco destination VIRSA_HRModel.
I have configured the User data source type as SAP HR System as VIRSA_HRModel and Details source type as SAPHR with System name as VIRSA_HRModel.
    Please explain the functionality.
    Regards,
    Kumar Rayudu

    Kumar,
As you know CUP is an ticket creation, user provisioning tool with automated workflow. So CUP will need to bring user details or user information for requestor, approver, manager etc. from some kind of source. This is where data source comes into picture. Whenever you need to search for an user ID, CUP will look at the search data source and whenever CUP needs to bring in user information like name, email, phone etc., CUP will use user details data source.
DO NOT USE JCO IN CUP, ERM AND SPM. You will need to have exactly same connector names in all four modules of AC 5.3 for all of the integration functionality to work. When you use JCo, it will not allow you to change the default name (virsahr_model in your case).
ONE MORE THING, NEVER EVER TOUCH JCo OTHER THAN VIRSAXSR3 EVEN FOR RAR (CC). VIRSAHR AND VIRSAR3 ARE NOT RECOMMENDED TO USE.
    I hope this helps.

  • CUP question -GRC 5.3

    Hi All,
Can some one clear my doubt please
    1. In CUP Roles section , If I have 2 systems connected( ex : DEV and QAT) to my server when I export the role tempalte and fill in the Role attributes bla bla  and when I want to import this file back I can only do it based on the System connector which is either DEV or QAT .
But however most of the roles in here are the same in DEV and QAT  and in the role template's  system coloumn the systems are seprated as (R/3 QUALITY(P),R/3 DEVELOPMENT(P))
so should be saving the file for each system name and import it twice , once for DEV and once for QAT even though they are similar roles ?

    Hi PKK,
Here is my response to your questions:
    1. In CUP Roles section , If I have 2 systems connected( ex : DEV and QAT) to my server when I export the role tempalte and fill in the Role attributes bla bla and when I want to import this file back I can only do it based on the System connector which is either DEV or QAT .

You must not import the same file again. If you try to do that either it will fail or it will overwrite existing roles. Rolename is the primary key here so be careful. Try uploading the file by specifying both the connectors in the system column and it will work without any problem. Selecting connector name on the top has not effect on importing file. The connector name is only used when you directly import roles from SAP backend system.
    2. And is there a way to create an action type in Request type , for example in request trype " change"
there is only two actions to change_user & assign_roles, what if I want to delete roles for any user or replace roles by choosing change request type.
NO. Actions come out of box with CUP. Why do you want to create new actions? The assign_roles can add and remove roles.

  • User deletion Requests in CUP

    Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding CUP 5.3 SP11, I am wondering if you all have had the same scenarios before. We have about 20 systems connected to the CUP. When an employee leaves the company a person in HR usually sends a termination request and they are not usually aware where all does the user exist. When we do a select all for the systems and procede with the request it gives you an error message with the systems in which the user does not exist.
Is there any way to ignore this and process the request to delete the user in the systems in which they exist, so that one does not have to slect the systems manually?
