CUPC - Unable to log in from Windows machine not on domain

Hi,
We are unable to login to CUPC (ver 8.5.3.192248) on a windows machine that is not on the domain, however connected to the network (e.g. we can ping CUPS IP and FQDN). We've tried pointing the client to the FQDN address as well as IP Address. We get "Login Failed" message (so no "Unable to connect to network" message). The user can log in just fine on a machine that is on the domain, so everything back end should be ok.

I am using version 8.5.5 and that works fine on a Windows 7 that is not in the domain.
The only thing I had to do was add the server name to the hosts file, I have both the server name and the FQDN as in
192.168.1.1 cups cups.mycompany.com
You can define the server by IP address but it seems to move internally to the server name and it needs to be able to map that to an IP address

This depends on your EP release.
For Basis release 6.40 (EP6) there should be an UNINSTSAP.EXE somewhere in your SAP-Filesystem which you need to run. Take care with the options you have, you might delete even the OS-Users (even on the domain) if you just click away without reading.
For Basis release 7.00 (EP7) you call sapinst and select 'uninstall' under 'Additional Software Lifecycle tasks'. This will guide you through the process of uninstallation.
If these operations fail you can manually clean the system by removing the files and cleaning the registry. This is only a sort of last resort though.

Resources have been modified while installing application from windows machine?

Hi,
I am trying to install application from windows machine, but it gives me reources have been modified everytime. Can someone let me know how to avoid this problem?
I have tried the iTuneswork without extension way but still I am getting the same error. I really dont understand what this error is about. It would be really nice of someone to guide me on this.
The OS version on the device is OS 3.0.1 and itunes version on windows is 9.0.2.
Please let me know what this issue is about.

Hi,
Its strange that no one turned with any answers. Anyhow, the issue has mostly been resolved. There are some file names which were getting modified in windows and not in MAC system.
Just in case anyone facing the same issue please check the file name of the resources you added.

Firefox will not start unless reboot has been done. If start is attempted, Firefox gets hung up, cannot close or log off from Windows.

I can start Firefox when I have just rebooted. If I close Firefox and come back later and try to restart Firefox, it tries to start but never does. A Control/Alt/Delete shows that it is running, but it does not load the screen. I cannot turn Firefox off or log off from Windows.

Performing an SCP lookup from a computer not in domain

Hi everybody,
I am using the code given by Microsoft (link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13082 & https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn467395(v=exchg.150).aspx#bk_CodeExample) for SCP Record Lookup. Both links have same implementation.
It works when the program is run from a computer in domain. But fails when the program is run from a computer not in domain. Kindly help me in solving this problem. Ask for clarifications if needed.

Using ADExplorer, I can login and search all containers in all three Active Directory.
More information:
Active directory is installed in the servers in colored boxes.
1) If I run the program for SCP Record Lookup, in child1.parent1.com for parent1.com domain, then everything is fine.

Migrating from Windows to Mac, no loger have the Windows machine

I have a two year old iPod that's pretty loaded. I originally had it set up with a Windows computer that I ripped all my CD's to. Since that point my Windows machine needed to be rebuilt so I lost all the iTunes stuff on it. I also recently got a MacBook Pro. Now I'd like to be able to use the iPod with the MacBook, but I don't want to have to reload everything onto it. So how can I take an iPod originally formatted for Windows and retrieve all the data so that when I plug it into the MacBook I won't lose everything. I don't mind if I have to wipe out the iPod and reformat it then reload the music. I just don't want to have to rip all my CD's again. If it's any help I do have a networked Windows machine available to help with this.

Macs can read Windows formatting so you should be able to connect your iPod without any bother. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Once you are connected change the update setting to manual so you can use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using a lot of the utilities your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button:

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Unable to log in from different network same domain.

Hi, I am having difficulties with sharepoint at a different location.
Our main site and network that our sharepoint server is on, is 10.1.0.1
Our second site is part of our domain, and has its own DC with the ip 10.2.1.1
Our main site and second site are connected through VPN.
Our users at our second site can't log into sharepoint. They will browse to
http://intranet and the windows security window asks for credentials. Users will enter their credentials but it will not accept them and keeps asking for them. They do not receive any error messages, just a blank screen.
I have also tried adjusting the "trusted sites" options with NO SUCCESS. As well as clearing the "Enable Integrated Windows Authentication" option under advance in internet options.

So we have two domains, DomainA and DomainB.
You have tested your DomainA user account, which works fine from Site A, on Site B and it fails. All users from Site B also fail to authenticate.
Can you test a user from DomainB on a machine in Site A?
Are you able to add users from Domain B to your SharePoint sites through the people picker? That will confirm that you have AD connectivity between your SharePoint farm and the Domain B ADDS servers.
Next time you test the login process from Domain B use a hosts file to bypass any load balancers and target a single server, then make a note of the time. That will help you to try to identify the login requests in both the windows event logs and the
SharePoint ULS logs.
From first impressions this sounds like an inability to authenticate from their network rather than a domain trust issue, although that may still be possible.

Unable to view files from windows share

Hi guys,
I am wondering if you can help me out. I have 10 mac ocnnected to a windows domain. Five machinies are OSX 10.5.8 and five are OSX 10.6.8. The problem I am having is I can connect to the windows share via smb but I am unable to view the files. I can connect the server and see the folder listings but I am unable to view the contents of each directory. The users permissions are fine as they can log into a windows PC an are able to access the files as needed. I have tried different user accounts and all are getting the same issue. Each account has admin rights as well. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue before?

Moving photoshop elements 12 and lightroom 5 from windows machine to a Mac Pro

Is it possible to transfer licence from the windows machine to the mac?
The Lightroom version does appear to be a windows/mac version but the serial number won't activate the product.
The Photoshop Elements was actually a windows version so perhaps that is more excusable.
But is one really expected to either buy this software again or just forget about them all together?

For Lightroom and Elements your license covers both Mac and Windows. You do need to install the appropriate version in each case however. I Windows version will not work on a Mac, and vice versa.

Transfering files from Windows machine freezes my wi-fi connection

Guys, this is very weird, and it started to happen a week ago.
I use finder to connect to my windows machine on my home network, and after typing my password, I get access to the folder in the windows machine that I want.
The problem is: any file I try to transfer FROM or TO the windows PC freezes up mac os X after some seconds of transfer ... like a 60 mb file, it freezes after 20mb have been transfered ... and that's not only it ...
It freezes mac os x until I get the message "Connection to server LOST", and I only can get back on the network if I literally shut down my wi-fi router, because my macbook simply can't get DNS ip assigned again, it always auto-assign some weird ip and doesn't come back to the network till I restart my wi-fi router.
What in the **** may be going on ? Remember, it started to happen lately, it was not like this before !

it's a web based solution. You can access it from any OS which has web access.

How to install OBIEE 11 g in unix from window machine

Hi Experts,
I have OBIEE 11 G setup at my window machine. Now i need to install it on Unix box.
One way is to copy the setup on unix box and install it. But copeing is time taking.
Is there any way ---I can open windows file at unix box and run installer.
or there any other way.

Your requirement is not clear.
What my understand is you have obiee 11g setup in your laptop.
Are you installed virtual box in your laptop and are you installed Unix in the virtual box? Please conform?

Cannot access SMB shares from Windows boxes in AD domain

Hey folks
I've needed to tackel this for sometime, but Santa is bringing me a dual core G5 and the urgency just increased.
I have an Active Directory domain and all of my macs are successfully joined and get Kerberos tickets upon login. I can access any shares I need from OS X -> windows but NOT the other way around.
I did finally noticed that only local user accounts seem to appear in the accounts list in the sharing pref pane. So I have figured out that I can access any users folder with that one account- OUCH! What I need is access control based on the user.
For instance if I want to share ~jdoe and jdoe is a mobile account and an AD user then if I am logged into windows as [email protected] then I should be able to access the share on the mac. Conversly I should not be able to access ~jdoe with the mac's local admin account and pass.
Do I need to change my smb.conf to reflect AD and if so, where/what?
Also, do I need to map UIDs to anything? And, is that a security risk?

Hi SpaceBass, have you looked into sharepoints or into Netinfo manager. I have been playing around with sharepoints and it does let me enter non local users into the sharing prefs- albeit manually. Only thing is , depending on the number of macs you have, it could be a long and tedious job entering it all by hand. Netinfo may have an easier way, I'll do some more digging and post back.
