CUPS problem

I dunno each time I have a problem I do not find an appropriate pla to post the message.
So going back to the question.
My cups does not print anymore, before somebody say "hey idiot did yop plug the cable?" here is the situation
I use latest version of cups, foomati-*, ghostscript, gimp-print under kernel 2.6.6
The printer is a Epson 5700 and was working correctly untill I dunno 7/10 days ago. I do not use it all the day so I cant be more precise.
The cable is plugged the printer is on and it works fine. I tested 10 minutes ago under knopix with kernel 2.6.6 and under a Mandrake live CD.
I realy suspect that one of the above package has a problem and I think is ghostscript.
Here we go with the test I have done:
1) I tried under kernel 2.4
2) I downgraded the kernel to 2.6.3
3) I downgraded all the other package to release version
As you can see from the process gs keep on running

But no way the printer does not print.
From the cups log seem everything ok, even at debug2 level.
As you can see everithing starts (gs, filter etc. etc.) but gs seem to hangs waithing for something or better processing someting as you ca se fro top result

Yes I tied several test,  as I wrote I tried to downgrade the software as well restarted the wole system many time tring doing different test uder different kernel.
I am almost sure it is a gs problem, as I wrote it keep on running getting almost all the cpu time.
For sure it is not an hardware problem, the computer printed correctly under other live distribution, I made a test also with another usb printer with the same result, gs keep on running using almost all the cpu time.
