CURED! Safari 6 won't save login passwords autofill

This has been bugging me to no end since installing Safari 6.
It appears that Safari 6 now complies with websites who have "autocomplete=off" hidden in the URL, which means it will not save passwords like it did before. Upon numerous attempts to research for a cure for this major annoyance, I finally stumbled across a discussion on the subject.
There is an extension you can install for Safari that overrides this. I just installed it and tested it with PayPal and Craigslist, and it works perfect!
You will have to make sure the username and password are already present in Keychain Access. If they aren't, add them manually.
Here's the direct download link for the extension. It will automatically download when you click it. Just click on it to install like any extension.
This is a genuine fix for this issue. You can check my previous posts to know I'm not pushing spam or anything else of the sort.
ENJOY!

  • Safari Won't Remember Login + Passwords

Safari just won't remember login names and passwords for sites! Even though I fill in the info and check the box that asks to remember, it does not.
BTW, it works fine on my main user setup, but not on a secondary user.
I have deleted the Safari .plist preference files, the keychain access .plist files and deleted files within the Keychain Access application and restarted the machine. Problem still exists.
    Can anyone help?
    Frank

I am curious about this, too.
Before I delete any of the suggested files, will I have to re-enter my log in names and passwords?
Usually when Safari has a memory lapse, it doesn't recall both log in name and password. When I attempted to log in to this forum today, Safari remembered my log in name, but not my password. Is there an option for Safari or keychain to remember only log in names, but not passwords?
Safari will usually prompt me to add log in name and password the first time I create it for a new site, but not always. It didn't do this when I re-entered it today, but after I logged out, it allowed me to log back in without requesting log in or password.
Thanks in advance for any info on this.

  • Won't save websites password

I have tried two advice one is click on Remember password in option and that did not save the website password. I have tried disable Remember password as I can't find anywhere in option that clear history when closing the application. Even on website, I click on "Remember me" or "Remember password", either Firefox or the website won't save the password for next time in Firefox. I have version 29.0.1. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox with no success. Example of two websites I am having problem saving password for are Myspace and AOL. Can is there something I am missing to make this work? Thank you.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.
    * Clear the Cache
    Press the '''<Alt Key>''' to bring up the tool bar. Then;
'''Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: Clear Now'''
    and
    * Remove Cookies
Press the '''<Alt Key>''' to bring up the tool bar. Then '''Tools > Options > Privacy.'''
Under '''History''', select Firefox will '''Use Custom Settings'''.
There is a button on the right side called '''Show Cookies'''.

    Under '''Passwords''', select '''Remember'''.
To check the passwords you have listed, press '''Saved Passwords'''.
'''Warning'''. There are some web pages that do not allow browsers to record
or fill in the log-in information. But if you go to the
    '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]''''' {web link}
(There’s a lot of good stuff here)
you can find several add-ons that can override this, and give you better
    control of your password information.
One last thing. In the event that the passwords information is lost, you
should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else
on your hard drive. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so.
If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can
    compress it using a password.

  • Safari won't save passwords

    Hello,
I noticed recently that Safari is not asking anymore to save passwords. It still uses the one I have in Keychain but doesn't see, to care about new one. In Safari  preferences under auto-fill, everything is checked. I tried to trash the preference file, verivy keychain but nothing work.
I use a Macbook pro with 10.7.4 and Safari 6.0
    Thanks for your help

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari ver. 8.0.3 won't save usernames & passwords?

I just upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 - Safari ver. 8.0.3. I can’t get Safari to remember my user names and passwords. I have to keep entering them overtime I go to the many website I go to many times a day. I nave had this problem in the past with the earlier OS’s before. How do I fix this?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

  • Safari won't save history or passwords

For some reason, my Safari refuses to save any website in its history. It's always completely empty.
And I don't know if it's related or not, but it also refuses to save password auto fills.
And yes, they are enabled in the settings.

If your address bar is black, then you are in Private Browsing mode. Turn it off. To do so, tap the Tabs icon to show your open tabs, then tap Private on the bottom left.

  • Safari won't save or export a pdf file which otherwise displays correctly.

I can download a pdf item (form) and safari displays it correctly. however, if I try to save it or export it as a pdf, the resultant file is empty. Chrome works just fine. This is not unique to just one downloaded pdf file.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • In Yosemite, I can;t operate for more than a few minutes with Keychain or Safari asking for my login password.  How can I turn this off, and still be safe?

Using Yosemite, I an't seem to work for more than a few minutes without being asked for my login password.  Keychain wants it, Safari wants it, iCloud wants it..the list goes on.  Then in 10 minutes or so, they all want it again.  Passwords are being stored by Safari as usual, but new tabs or pages bring up the request.  How can I turn this off and still have protection?

    Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
      1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
      3. Click the "First Aid" tab
      4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
      5. Close the Preferences window
      6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
      7. Enter your username and password
      8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
      1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
      3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
      4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
      5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
      6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
          "New Keychain"
      7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
      1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
      4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.
The above comes from an article published on MacFixit.com.

    HI,
Creating an AOL account can mean you ID looks like and email.
However the AIM messaging service tends to use only the username part.
IF you register via the AIM registration page it allows you to Activate email separately.
My AIM name comes from Registering a long time ago with Netscape ( A Browser that included AIM messaging)
It gave me an Email at my [email protected] where as my AIM login is just the username
If you registered via AOL itself the email tends to end @AOL.com but you should still try it as a plain username.

Do you see any passwords in the Firefox Password Manager?
Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
If not then delete key3.db and signons.sqlite as suggested in the Troubleshooting section.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_Manager (Troubleshooting)
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting [http://kb.mozillazine.org/key3.db key3.db] and you lose all your currently saved passwords.

  • Save login/password with Proxy HTTP "Auto" preset (.pac file)

    Hi,
I'm behind an Internet proxy. I have configured my iPhone with the following parameters :
Proxy HTTP : Auto + the right URL to get my enterprise .pac file.
What bothers me : I have to re-enter my login/password frequently.
Do you have the same problem ?
Note : The Proxy HTTP "Manual" preset let me enter these login and password, why not the "Auto" preset ?

    Hello,
Were you able to successfully build your AIR app?  It is possible to bypass the timestamp but there are caveats.  Here's what the docs have to say:
If ADT cannot connect to the time-stamp server, then signing is canceled and no package is produced. Specify -tsa none to disable time-stamping. However, an AIR application packaged without a timestamp ceases to be installable after the signing certificate expires.
