Curious But Avoidable Incosistent Behaviour By BT8...

There appears to be an inconsistency in the way in which elements of the BT8500 Advanced Call Blocker function in respect of telephone numbers that share the same STD code as the PSTN line to which the BT8500 has been connected, though only when the contact has been stored without the STD code prepended.
When a call is received from such a local contact, the reverse lookup in the Contacts database correctly yields the identity of the contact. In other words, an incoming CLI comprising the concatenation of <STD code><calling party’s number> is successfully matched against a database entry consisting only of <calling party’s number>.
The corresponding matching does not however work for BT Call Guardian, and for it to function correctly, the local contact must have been stored with the STD code prepended.
In fairness the need to store contacts using the full dialling code is made explicit in the product manual, but the inconsistency in behaviour can trap the unwary. In order slightly to hasten the process of dialling a local contact, it is tempting only to enter their number, without the STD code. Superficially this is acceptable, because not only does outgoing dialling work, but when the local contact originates a call they are correctly identified. However, a problem arises when BT Call Guardian is configured to use Custom Mode, with, for example, this set of parameter values:
Blocked numbers = <Block>
Allowed numbers = <Allow>
International = <Announce>
Witheld = <Announce>
Payphones = <Announce>
Mobile numbers = <Allow>
Unavailable = <Announce>
All other numbers = <Announce>
In these circumstances one witnesses the rather ridiculous spectacle of a handset identifying a local caller by name, but subjecting them to the ‘Announce’ sequence, and displaying text on the handset screen to the effect that this has commenced.
Surely the contacts database lookup and the BT Call Guardian function should behave identically, so that either both work, or neither works when a local contact’s number is stored without the STD code. Also it ought to be possible to store local numbers without prepending the STD code in order to minimise the work of data entry and to expedite dialling. Perhaps a solution would be the functionality of the BT8500 to be changed so that it is able to ascertain the STD code associated with the line to which it is connected and having done so, to process call blocking accordingly.

Colors are just a convenient way to search on the "label" field. If the label field is blank, and you search on purple which is also blank...

there is a little yellow tinge in certain parts of the screen but its hardly noticable only when the screen is white and it should go in a few days hopefully.

I got my iphone today and tried to apply it straight out the box more or less.. I was skeptic about the liquid method but I gave it a shot..
What a nightmare.. dust gets underneath no matter what you do.
The wasnt even enough liquid to apply the front let alone the back.
It doesnt even perfectly fit. There is a gap all the way around and in the light its certainly noticeable..
Not worth the money.. so I will stick with a silicon case and try to look after the screen as best as I can.
Apparently the company I bought it from offer 30 day money back garentee so I am going to try and get my money back.. Rather buy another case with the money to be honest, or some credit.
BTW I didnt have a micro sim but Ive cut my sim down to the correct size and it worked perfectly.. I tested it first with an old sim and that worked too..

Correction to my previous comment.. the iphone 4 reception issue does happen but only if I cup my whole left palm with a bit of presure over the crack seperating the ariel.. a finger didnt affect it at all.

Organise with iPhoto, Edit with Photoshop Elements, but avoid destructive editing

I prefer to use iPhoto as my photo organiser and for sharing to Facebook and Flickr, but I also prefer to use Photoshop Elements (v11) as my editor. iPhoto is configured to launch PSE for editing and it works fine. My question relates to doing non-destructive saves back into iPhoto. It appears as though I cannot have version control because doing a save overwrites the original file in iPhoto. Although I can chose to save an edited version of my image elsewhere on my MacBook I would prefer to have orginal and saved versions colocated. Is there anyway around this issue or do I have to use PSE Organiser to have version control?
I like being able to Flag a bunch of photos in iPhoto, go to the Flagged folder to share them, and the way iPhoto displays shared folders uploaded to Facebook and Flickr. PSE Organiser seems a bit convoluted.

Take a look at Aperture - with it you can have versions and many people have reported that its editing is robust enough that they seldom if ever use PS or PSE anymore - maybe that would give you the editing power you wnat with the nondestructive editing of Aperture and version control

How to avoid the anonymous login using RIMLoginModule?

Hi everybody,
we have configured the RIMLoginModule on a WebAS to enable SSO on Blackberry devices. The login module works as expected when the Rim-device-email header parameter is available in the request. But without this header an automatic login occures using the anonymous user. How should we configure the module or the security provider to avoid this behaviour?
Note: if we lock the anonymous user, the problem is solved. But, we want to keep the anonymous user unlocked and configure the module to use a basic authentication when the Rim-device-email pamaeter is missed in the request.

You need to set up the anonymous user (via Admin). Add him to the
defaultRole and then you can assign the channels to the anonymous user as
per normal.

What do i have to do to avoid "loading flash" when embedding video in pdf?

I can embed h.264 video in pdf via acrobat pro or inDesign.
However, there's always a moment of waiting, Acrobat Background color flashes up,
before the movie is finally loaded and played back.
I have seen Tutorials where this doesn't occur,
but no difference seeable from what i do.
Any ideas how to avoid this behaviour that occurs however i embed the video.
Second problem: When i play the mebedded video in the full size of the presentation
it kind of gets stuck on the slide. You have to hit the arrow button several times
until at some point it actually advances to a random slide further down the presentation.
My computer is very powerfull and i use the newest InDesign CC and Acrobat XI.
I read all the help and i do what Adobe says i should do.
Is it possible that Adobe just can't handle Video in PDF on a professional level??
Any hints on how to make this look right is appreciated!

Adobe's promotion of Rich Media in PDF has reduced of late, it's no longer a headline feature for the Acrobat team (though the Frame guys seem addicted to it). Flash within "documents" is a legacy concept - sorry but that's just how it is. More and more people are consuming documents on devices or apps which cannot and will never support Flash/JavaScript/etc. that it's ruining the core principle of PDF - namely that a page looks the same to everyone.
Adobe's decision is that media-enabled interactive files (called "publications", not documents) are now the domain of HTML5 (Edge, Muse, etc) or native apps (DPS). That's where the development is being concentrated.

Avoid marking files as modified by Git when there are no changes

I am working on a project using Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate and Enterprise Architect 9.0 (a UML tool). I am using Git for Source Control in Visual Studio.
I have set up the programs so that I can synchronize code from Enterprise Architect (EA) to Visual Studio (VS) and vice versa using MDG Link for Visual Studio (an Enterprise Architect add-in). I first synchronized all the existing code from VS to EA.
Now I have the following workflow:
Create UML models in EA;
Add necessary attributes and operations to the class models;
Synchronize models with the code, which will add the added attributes and operations to my source;
The last step will regenerate all my source code files, but even if there are no changes Git marks the files as modified.
How can I avoid this behaviour, because now all my files are modified when Enterprise Architect synchronizes the model with the source code.
I only want Git to mark it as modified when there are actually things added or modified in the file.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
I think it's more VS which detect the file was modified, and by default it mark the file as modified in Git.
But normally when you want to commit your work these files are removed because Git detect the files are not really changed.
Did you try to refresh the pending changes in the team explorer (F5). Perhaps Git recalculate all the differences, and then detect the real changes.

BUT when I encapsulate the anonymous block in a stored procedure, I am told that the folder '/home/test/' does not exist.
As said, the problem related to the ACL on the folders, what I cannot understand, and caused me considerable confusion, is why I was unable to get the content from a stored procedure when I was able to do so from an anonymous block.

Use equals_path(res,'/home/test/test.dtd') = 1OK, OK, but how do you use wildcards (if you want to) since any_path like '/home/test%' works?
Who was the stored procedure owned by. Was it a stand-alone stored procedure or a
method on a package. If it was a method on a package is it AUTHID creator or AUTHID
definer.Everything apart from the '/home' folder is owned by the current user.
The PL/SQL was in a packaged procedure, a stand-alone stored procedure, and an anonymous block. It exhibited the same behaviour in each. All were defined with default AUTHID which is definers rights which is the same as the current user in this case.

How to avoid orphaned system tray icon?

I know how to create a system tray icon for my application using InstallSysTrayIcon().
I also know how to remove it before the program terminates (calling RemoveSysTrayIcon()).
But the program closes in an expected way, or through the Task Manager, for example, the icon isn't deleted, and the user could think that the application is still running. Moreover, when you re-launch the application, a second icon is shown.
The Windows OS removes the orphaned icon when the mouse hovers over the tray.
It seems that this is an OS issue, and I did some web searches: I found this describing a way to avoid this behaviour in a C# application, but I haven't been able to port this solution to a CVI application.
Is there a way to do this with CVI 2009?

Actually what I'm worried about is a little bit more complicated: my CVI application could be remotely closed by other applications running on the same or other PCs on the LAN. I should avoid the icon is left on the system tray while the application has been closed, giving a wrong information to the user...
I've been using the task manager only to "simulate" a force close made by a different application.
And sure, I must increase the error handling as much as I can to avoid application crash

Avoid showing of a canvas in TabNavigator while playing effect?

I´m using the great distorsion effect of Alex Uhlmann (part of Tour de Flex) in a TabNavigator with Canvas containers. The effect works fine but while fireing the IndexChangedEvent by pressing a tabsheet for a blink of an eye the target-canvas gets visible before the effect should make it visible which is very annoying.
As you can see in the Code-Snippet
The function playrotate() which is called in the EventHandler only set the right parameters for the CubeRotator method, which create an effectinstance and playing the effect.

Listbox has a scrollbar for zero effort and there's no messing about working out all the positioning of each control.
Because editrow is a contentcontrol you can put any old control in it - textbox, passwordbox.... whatever you like.

I dont want to create all source tablespaces in target.
I have given unlimited tablespace priv to user.Still I get this error
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 959 encountered

The situation, I understand is as follows:
1. An original export file contains references to the USERS tablespace
2. You want to import it, but you don't want to create the USERS tablespace
3. You create a user and assign USERS as its default tablespace, even though you don't have it created and you don't want to create it.
If you assign a default tablespace to a user, first thing, make sure this tablespace exists, when import is performed if tablespace defined at import file doesn't exist, then import will use the default user's tablespace, in this case the USERS tablespace.
So, if you want to avoid this behaviour, then assign the user an existing tablespace when defining the default tablespace for this user.
Once corrected, retry import.

My country settings are set to Belgium (French) but I want to have my IDE running in English.
What should I change in the defautl properties of JSC2 to avoid this behaviour?

Strange ADF behaviour: duplicated lookup references

Hi,
I'm developing a JSP - Struts - ADF BC application with JDeveloper 10.1.2.1.0 (1913).
I have the following issue:
I have a ViewObject based on three EntityObjects, one updatable and two as reference.
Say the ViewObject is based on the Main Entity 'Dept' and has two look-ups to the 'Emp' entity (one for manager and one for secretary). The ViewObject will show the departments plus the names of the manager and the secreatry for each department.
Now in my custom struts action I create new rows for the ViewObject and in this new row I set the Id (foreign key) for the Manager programmatically. (This Id is fixed). Now when I show the JSP showing the new rows for this ViewObject, It shows the names of the manager correctly but it also shows the names of the managers in the secretary fields while these Id's (foreign keys) are still empty (null)!!!
How can I avoid this behaviour?
I am setting the secretary Id (foreign key) to null but that doesn't help, and trying to clear the name of the secratry in my program is not allowed since it is a read-only field.
Any help is appreciated.

Solved this... Using a single XXXXXUIModel.xml file was causing this.

Is there any way to do it?
(I mean, it's mandatory to press the 'apply' button for retrieving the results)

Thanks for your answer, it partially solved the problem, but I still have an issue.
The first time I open the POWL, the first query that is selected by default (In my case: Shopping Carts) is refreshed automatically without taking in account the /SAPSRM/POWL_NO_REFR parameter.
Then when I select other queries, they are not refreshed automatically (As expected)
Is there any way to avoid this behaviour? Or maybe we should create an OSS note?

Installed Flashplayer 11, but Macromedia 8 defaults & doesn't work

Please read this carefully as I'll try my best to explain my problem. It's complicated!
I have IE 8 and Microsoft Windows XP (Home Edition) 32bit (-86)
First I deleted all prior versions of Flash Player on my computer. This started out by me trying to watch a video on my computer that I downloaded and when Macromedia Flash Player 8(an older version) popped up, it didn't run the video, but instead just opened up and the window inside was blank.
From that I then downloaded the newest version of Flash Player 11.6.602.180
When I go and try to view the videos on my computer, only Macromedia Flash Player 8 comes up and tries to play the video. When I tried to delete Macromedia FP 8, it's not even listed in the Add/Remove Programs in the control panel. However, when I do look there I do see the newest version of FP 11 there. What's odd though is that it says "Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X". It shows the program installed, but there's no info there for it. It doesn't show the file size of the program, etc.
When I download the program, it goes to the below destination file:
My Documents\Downloads\Programs\install_flashplayer11x32ax_gtbd_chrd_dn_aih.exe
I had it say a few times that the download was successful.
How come I can't find Macromedia Flash Player 8 to delete? When I use the search feature Start>Search>For Files or Folders.... nothing comes up. Can't find it.
Does anyone have any resolutions or ideas on how to solve this problem? I did Google the situation and found similar and the author/poster fixed his problem by going into his registry... and also mentioned something about Active X. I also did find another similar problem and went through the steps of enabling some scripting and Active X, but that was already set properly.

Yes, when I say "on my computer", I mean videos that were downloaded onto my computer and not videos like on say... YouTube. I see these videos I have on the computer are .flv.
Just curious, but why would I want to download the Projector? Is that the solution? Or is that another viewing option? Because if it's another option, I can watch them with Realplayer and Adobe Media Player.
When I go to the actual video, I right click and see an option that says "Open With -> " and can see my options. One of them says "Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 r22". I wish someone would address this too because I can't find it on my computer to delete it! I tried using the search feature on my computer and it comes up with no queries and I do not see it in the Add/Remove Programs folder.
