Curious Noob Ram mhz query

My Ram is 3200 or 400 mhz, yet when I look at the cell menu in the bios it says current DDR clock is 167 mhz, should it not be 200?
However, the DRAM Config is set on Auto - does this mean the DDR clock rate varies?
Thanks for any responses .
The boards is a K8N Neo2

Thanks for this
Though I thought the slots were colour coded so you would put the two dimms in the same colours

  • Ram mhz 333 to 400 prob

    Hello all,
I'm still a bit new to all this so please be patient. I recently decided to try and up my ram setting from 333MHz to 400. Everything seemed fine. I tested with memtest86 for 18 hrs with no errors and thought that was easy!. I then tried Prime 95 but it stopped after 2 hrs .
Before the memory speed change I had tested Prime95 (Priority10) for 20 hrs with no problems. My current settings are 191fsb X 13, (PC2700 Ram) and I have been using this setup for 2 or 3 months now. My temps are 45 normal load and 48 at max.
Can anyone tell me why memtest86 would not find any problems but Prime 95 did?
    Thanks

    Thanks for all your replies.
I increased the voltage on the ram as Sharp suggested and managed to get 14hrs 2mins out of torture test before getting an error. So I suppose now I'm going to take Wonkanoby's advice and back off a little.
    Thanks again for helping out
    Ohh .. 1 last question!
Wonkanoby said 382 is not bad for 333 ram, but when I set the ram speed to auto (in bios) it shows 333MHz while booting. Doesn't that mean that the ram is running independantly at 333 and not at 382 like the fsb?

but for some reasons i cant use 1066
that is simple to explain 1066 would work with 3 sticks of ram installed but you have 6 so the max is 800mhz as you have 2x3 channel memory installed and the cpu cant handle that much at full speed!
its all down to the CPU's (Central Processing Unit's) memory controler Quote from: anat_usa on 10-July-12, 18:09:15

    seems like should be ok.....
not the point wattage ratings are meaningless its all down to how that is sub-devided on its rails as ampages i have a 1000W psu here that can't boot a single 24A graphics card as it has 4 x 20A +12v rails and is only usefull as a paper weight!
what are the ampages of its +12V rail or rails? there the important data points to pay attention to! WATTAGE OF A PSU REALLY MEANS NOTTHING ITS ALL ABOUT AMPAGE IT CAN DELIVER ON THE RAILS!!!!!! minimum Wattage psu calculations are done based on a single high ampage +12v rail and if yours has 2-3 +12v rails its no better then a 300W psu at best!
that HD 4890 you have requires this:
    18A idle power draw = 216W
    28A under load = 336W
that is very power hungery at idle probaly neer the max your psu can put out on a +12v rail!

  • Session ids blocking themselves

theres a scenario where in a session id is blocking itself. the wait type is latch_ex - access_method_database_parent
I am capturing the queries and will work on optimizing them however am looking for possible reasons for this.
    Environment
    Windows server 2008 sp2, SQL Server 2008 R2 ent sp1, CPU=32 , RAM 32
Server level MAXDOP=0 tried changing it to 16 but the problem persists.

When an SPID is waiting for an I/O page latch, you may notice that the
blocked column briefly reports that the SPID is blocking itself. This behavior is a side effect of the way that latches are used for I/O operations on data pages. When a thread issues an I/O request, the SPID that issues the I/O request acquires a
latch on the page. All SQL Server 2000 I/O operations are asynchronous. Therefore, the SPID will try to acquire another latch on the same page if the SPID that issued the I/O request must wait for the request to finish. This second latch is blocked by the
first latch. Therefore, the blocked column reports that the SPID is blocking itself. When the I/O request finishes, the first latch is released. Then, the second latch request is granted.
Y'know, maybe I have seen this but not recently, I think I may have seen this in the 2005-2008 era when some of these behaviors were new.  That is I noticed them, I guess they're probably still occurring but these days, any block that clears itself
within a second or two has not been my highest priority!  Self-deadlocks, that's a whole other thing!
This may be enough answer for OP - parallel plan, threads fighting over a common page but not really, just queueing up for it.  20-30% CPU is nothing to worry about even as a constant, it's CERTAINLY nothing to worry about if the average is lower and
    30% is the peak!
Though if that kind of thing *is* the cause, and the condition lasts for more than a second, I'd be curious just what the query is doing!  Maybe a whole bunch of child rows being changed with foreign keys to the same parent?
    Josh
As I said .. I don't think its related to data pages ...

  • How to properly create and configure SharePoint 2013 Search service with PowerShell?

    Hello Forum,
I have installed SharePoint 2013 across three tier servers:
WFE Server  (Of course, SharePoint is installed here. Bsically this is just a Web server)
APP Server  (Of course, SharePoint is installed here + Central Admin + Service Apps).
    SQL Server
I now want to create and configure the Search service, obviously on the APP Server, But of course the search functionality should work correctly on the WFE server to.
I want to do this via a proper PowerShell script. I found Spence Harbar's script on: (http://www.harbar.net/articles/sp2013mt.aspx), But it has three problems, and they are as follows:
    1) Spence Harbar himself literally stated on his article that this script is for: "deploying on a single server farm", But what if I have three tier servers? Could anyone please help me out in suggesting the required tweaks in the
    script?
    2) By default Search uses the SP_Farm account, So, How can I change the script to use other dedicated account for the search service e.g. SP_SearchAcc ?
    3) How can I modify the script to specify a default Search center?
    4) Apart from all the three aforementioned point - Is the script missing anything?
I would greatly appreciate your inputs - Thanks !

the only differences are where you place the components.  if you are doing a small server farm with a 1-1-1, most likely you just need to change the script so that you set the index and query processing component on the front end, but the others on
the app server.  just a 2 second update... just keep in mind this will work, but I am making several assumptions without any knowledge of your farm, users, capabilities.
generally, there would be more of a breakout on the topology than that, but im guessing for this farm that you wont have dedicated search servers.  also, a lot depends on # users (rps really), # items in index, size of VMs (RAM for query processing,
Disk for index, etc, etc), and making sure the topology works for your particular environment and needs.
if you want more detailed topology help, which aligns as closely as possible to "best practices" (not that those exist in SharePoint, go ahead and provide the total # users, average/peak RPS for search, current index size, content source types,
VM specs RAM, CPU, #/Size of drives, HA concerns/priority (obviously isn't, since only 1-1-1)

  • SelectMany PLINQ performance issue

    Hi,
I have noticed a strange behaviour with PLINQ SelectMany:
Sometime, I takes a very very long time to process (i am working on a tree where each node is processed with a selectMany querie) lets say 20 seconds instead of 100ms.
When I do the same work twenty times on the same tree, for some configuration, the first attempt (and some times others) takes a lot of time.
I have serialized an instance of one of this 'special tree' and if i do a unit Test on it, the first query is always taking quite the same amount of time (more than 10 seconds) but followings are much faster.
    You can try this:

I don't want to get an 'improved' version of this test or anything like that but i am very curious about why this query is taking a very long time always for the first try? on specific tree... and sometime on others...
    Any idea?
you could try to use the unit test if you want to check it yourself!
    Thank you

In fact, I suspect that while iterating in the first selectMany, the pool used by the query is limited to, for instance, 8 distinct threads.
Lets imagine that the tree is like this:
    -> the root (A) has 8 children (B1 -> B8) and every children has 8 children (C1.1 -> C8.8).
Each root children is dispatched in a disctinct thread by the pool. When we iterate through the second SelectMany, we add actions to the pool, but every threads of the pool is used by a parent.
=> In the pool, the B1 -> B8 are waiting for completion of the C tasks. But C tasks are waiting for B tasks to complete == Deadlock.
After some time, as the pool is deadlocked, it tried to create new treads to do the additional work. This creation depends on the response time of the pool.
That's why the first iteration is taking a while (due to the response time of the pool much more than thread creation i guess) because after, threads are already created.
When it takes some time again, that should be because some threads are cleaned.
That seems a possible answer but if anybody could confirm it, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • F11 Functionality is not working

    Hi,
I am working on 11.5.10.2 version.
In the Oracle Payables Invoice screen the F11 functionality is not working
For other screens like supplier entry / payment batches..etc, the F11 functionality is working.
When i enter the Invoice screen, i am pressing F11 and it comes to query mode.
I am giving the values and percentage, pressing Ctrl+F11 but its not showing the invoice data.
Error Notification given: "FRM-40301: Query caused no records to be retrieved. Re-enter."
Earlier its working fine...suddenly its giving me this trouble. I am able to query same thing in my friends system.
I know its quite silly issue but its really giving me a trouble. Could anyone give the solution for this. Is there any specific functionality am need to set for this?
    Thanks,
    Ram.

The query is working if you are getting the message "FRM-40301: Query caused no records to be retrieved. Re-enter." You need to query for something that is in the tables which is usually case sensitive.
Or, use the Query/Find screen by clicking the Find button (flashlight icon) on the toolbar.

  • Problems shutting down and getting 'Error -39 when trying to open my files

After working all evening using my Macbook Pro, I close out all my programs and shut down the computer.
However, the computer refuses to shut down. The screen freezes and just sits there. After about 10 minutes of waiting I eventually hold down the power button to shut the computer off.
When I restart the MacBook Pro and try to open the file I was working on, I get the following error. 'While attempting to access [FILE], the file manager reported an error -39.'
    Why does this keep happening?
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB Ram MHz DDR3
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
    Finale 2010
    Logic Studio 9
    Yamaha PSR-310 via Midi Interface
    null

I don't think you're having an Apple hard disk issue, because your other applications are working without problems.
I believe you are getting the corrupted file(s) (End of file, Error -39) because you are powering off the computer before the application and the computer have completely shut down.
I can't tell you why it is happening, but I suspect that the Finale application is being extremely slow to shut down, and it is leaving the '.mus' file open until it quits.
*Kostby, thanks so much for your reply. I actually work for a software company, so I asked a few people around here and they agree with you. For some reason, the application is taking a very, very long time to quit, and it's causing the computer to keep running instead of shutting down.*
Perhaps some file was corrupted in the old version of the Finale application was carried over with the upgrade? Have you tried reinstalling the application?
*I haven't, but this is a good idea. I will completely remove the program and start over.*
    Hardware...
I notice that the keyboard dates from 2006/2007.
*Actually, it's from 1993 (time flies...)*
Is the midi interface Firewire or USB?
    USB
Does the midi interface ever cause an error or a 'hang' with or without the keyboard?
*Not that I'm aware of. I haven't used it in awhile, and it's not been connected to the computer in weeks.*
Are there software drivers needed to make the Midi interface work with the Mac.
*No, I simply plugged it in and it worked. No extra software or drivers needed.*
Are the drivers old? (e.g. 10.4.x or 10.5.3)
    N/A
Have you tried saving the file to a USB flash drive, rather than a physical hard disk?
*I haven't, but I'll need to save a few tonight if I do a reinstall of Finale.*
Powering off vs suspending vs leaving it run...
Do you get the 'spinning beachball' (spindump) when Finale apparently hangs?
*No spinning beachball. The desktop simply freezes...*
What happens if you leave it on for an hour or overnight after the apparent 'hang'?
*Never done that. Longest I've left it alone during the 'hang' has been about 15 minutes.*
Does the screen ever come back and let you use the computer again?
*After 15 minutes I would hit the power button and force it to shut off. I've never allowed it to go on for this long. I just thought if it didn't come back after 15 minutes it wasn't ever coming back.*
Does the file corruption occur when you suspend the application by closing the lid, rather than shutting it off?
*I've never just closed the lid on my Macbook Pro. I've always either set it to sleep or shut down and waited for it to do so before closing the lid.*
Thanks again for the great suggestions. I will try them all this evening when I get home from work.
    Best,
    Dana

  • HT6400 screen choppy after update of Mavericks 10.9.5

I had no problems whatsoever with my macbook Air until now. i am really ******. Now even using the Apple TV viewing my home videos are getting all messed up because of it too. Not to mention all the choppy movements on my computer while working.
Apple, what is wrong with you? so many glitches on my phone, and now on my computer and apple tv? should I be worried? tell me how to fix this.
Ive rebooted several times. Ive checked for more updates incase I can have it fixed but to no avail. How how how do I fix this? ARrrrgh. Even writing this is a nuisance.

    Hi ..
Given the glitches involve the Mac, Apple TV, and phone, restart your internet modem and router.
See if that makes a difference.

  • Ignoring cache - selecting directly from database

I have a scenario where several tables will be mapped using Toplink for the data access benefits, but will be updated ouside of the Toplink process. Obviously this behavior negates the beneift of caching in toplink and I need a reliable way to bypass the cache when selecting from these tables.
The only method I've found in my testing to overcome this problem is to select "Always Refresh" and "Disable Cache Hits" on the related entities in the Toplink Mapping Workbench. All other configurations, including setting the identity map size to 0 will return stale instances of these objects.
I've also tried invoking dontCheckCache() and setCacheUsage() on my query with the understanding, based on the API documentation, that the cache would be ignored for the query. In both cases the returned object was retrieved from the cache and not the database.
While the workbench solution will suffice for my purposes, I would like to know if there are other methods of ignoring the cache. Also, I'm curious about why the query methods I've mentioned don't seem to have any affect on the source of the resulting objects.
    I am using Toplink v9.0.3

Using "Always Refresh" and "Disable Cache Hits" is probably the best method to ensure that no cached data is every returned from queries. If you are using optimistic locking you may also use "onlyRefreshCacheIfNewerVersion" in conjunction with these.
For the full/weak identity maps the size is only the default map size, it will grow as objects are added, so setting this to 0 will have no effect on what is cached, you could set the cache type to NoIdentityMap ("None") to achieve this, but usage of alwaysRefreshCache is a better way as is still preserves object identity.
The query options dontCheckCache() and setCacheUsage() are in-memory querying options, they effect how cache hits are obtained, but do not effect how the objects are cached or refreshed. To refresh objects at the query level use refreshIdentityMapResult() ("Refresh"). Using refresh at the query level should also meet your needs, and may be better than setting the alwaysRefreshCache option on the descriptor as then you can control which queries refresh and which can obtain cache hits. (for example you may want to query for employees to refresh, but allow the query for the 1-1 backreference for phone numbers to obtain a cache hit). For refresh queries you can also set the refresh cascade depth.

  • Big problem using 512x4 dimm w/ Neo 2 (Venice core). At impasse, need advice.

Sorry for the semi-lengthly post but Im at the end of my rope here. Here's my issue.
I have a Venice core and recently added a new pair of 512 x 2 to my system. Same exact set of G. Skill DDR 400 dual channel to go with the original 512 pair Ive had. Running @ 2T w/ default SPD (200mhz 2-3-3-6) I tested Memtest 86+ over 50 passes with all four banks filled, as well as isolating the new pair by themselves for 12 hours which tested flawlessly as well. I also ran all four sticks overclocked (216mhz DDR 433) with 2.5-3-3-7 timings which passed both Memtest and Prime 95 for 10+ hours respectively with no error. Everything seems to be in shape.
Now my problem. I keep getting a nasty lock up every time I run Battlefield 2, the whole system becomes completely frozen and its followed by a nasty buzzing noise in my headphones. The timing of it varies greatly. Most often its been after 5 to 15 minutes of play but most recently its been locking up as soon as the server menu updates for some reason, without even loading up the actual game! I tried different drivers and reinstalled the game to no avail. Im pretty sure its directly related to the 512 x 4 configuration as going back to 512 x 2 the game runs without any trouble.
The very first time the game locked up Event Viewer said I had NFTS corruption as a result of the error. I ran chkdisk and some 3rd party diagnostic tools but nothing turned up faulty. Thinking perhaps it was a voltage issue I upped the memory to 2.75 v, yet the next freeze resulted in a BSoD. It said "Page  Fault in Non Paged Area". Google brings up a ton of different results for that one so Im not sure what to make of it. Event Viewer called it category 102  event 1003.
I flashed the BIOS to 1.9 to make sure that wasn't the issue (it wasn't). Ive tried a lot of different settings in the Cell menu with timings, mhz and voltage. The longest without error (over 30 minutes before it finally froze) was at the default SPD w/ 2.65v. It always fails eventually though. No other game or application has given me a problem with all four sticks running at once. The thing is BF2 is probably the only app I have that actually uses over a  gig of ram at one time though, so its hard for me to be sure its only a BF2 issue at this point.
I could really use some advice here as Im pretty much stuck at this point. If everything checks out in Memtest, would the next suspect be a power supply or motherboard issue? My PSU is a high quality PC Power and Cooling 470w but its gives me some funny sensor readings I have to admit. I never thought anything  of them before since everything was stable until adding the ram but now Im wary. Everest diagnostic tool and the BIOS both report very different voltages, for example Everest says the 3.3 rail is only 3.07 v right now, whereas the BIOS says its at @ 3.15. Everest says the 12v rail is spot on @ 11.98 whereas the BIOS says its at 11.67 (yikes). Both agree the 5v rail is roughly 4.9 give or take. Im not sure if either one is right though, like I said this is the first time Ive had stability issues like this and before the ram Ive had my system overclocked and stable.

Thanks Bejon, Ill run it down 1 by 1.

    - Do you get lockup´s running BF2 at cpu stock speed ? ( not talking about prime or memtest now. Your signature says OC from stock 2,2Ghz to 2,6Ghz which would mean something like 11x237, your post says memtest/prime 11x216 )
Yes, I still experience the BF2 lock up using stock setting for everything (CPU, multi, FSB, ram mhz, ram timing, voltage etc). I must've confused you with the 216 number, sorry about that. I meant to say my OC is 10x260 fsb using a 166 memory divider, which= 216 mhz for the ram (or DDR 433). This passed memtest and Prime 95 as well as stock, but BF2 still locked up with this setting. So basically overclocked or not, using divider or not... I still get the lockup.

    - Did you actually test the 77.76 driver ( not just any differant driver ?)
Yes, tried drivers from the 72 set, 76, and the latest 77.77.

    - Did your experiment with vcore, meaning for example startup 1.425v and cpu voltage +3,3% - still running at stock speed./ Maybe even try 1.6v for AGP.
1.425v +3.3% is exactly what I use for my overclock CPU setting and neither that nor the stock voltage make any difference. For some reason lowering RAM voltage to default (2.65v) seemed to result in going longer without error. I almost made it past 40 minutes thinking I solved the problem with this voltage but it finally caved in again.

    - Did you install any patches ?
Yes BF2 is up to date.

    - Another thing to check is if your Audio / LAN / VGA have some kind of IRQ or driver conflict.
I checked and it turns out I do have an IRQ with two assignments on it. IRQ 21 has both Nvidia Network Bus Enumerator and Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller assigned to it. I have no idea what this means though, perhaps someone can shed light if its a potential root of the problem.
Also whats confusing me is the fact that sometimes when BF2 locks up with 512 x 4 it happens just loading up the server menu, not even loading game data into ram yet!

I ask these specified questions because I´m running BF2 flawless on another Neo2 system without any hickups with bios 1.8 and a Winchester+Venice stock speed 4 x 512 RAM (3-4-4-8 )and a 6600GT.
Thats kinda surprising to me with a Winchester because from what I understood only Venice/San Diego had the memory controller capable of running 512x4 @ 400+ mhz DDR. Sounds like you got a great chip!
Well thanks for your kind feedback Bejon, sorry if I came off a little snappy before. Im just very frustrated right now. Im going to try and reformat tomorrow just in case its somehow OS/IRQ related. If that doesn't work then Im really stuck. Also if someone can point me in the right direction in how to test my PSU for errors/bad rails Id really appreciate it.

  • WITH query_name and ODBC

I'm playing around with the WITH query_name clause as in:
WITH FOO AS (SELECT 123 AS BAR FROM DUAL) SELECT * FROM FOO
I'm facing a curious issue. This query runs fine in SQL Developer and it runs fine from PHP if I use the OCI8 functions. However, it doesn't run from PHP using ODBC functions: odbc_exec() gives no error but all function calls that fetch rows, such as odbc_fetch_into(), generate a warning ("No tuples available at this result index") and no rows or columns.
But I face no problem if I enclose everything in a plain SELECT:
    SELECT * FROM (
WITH FOO AS (SELECT 123 AS BAR FROM DUAL) SELECT * FROM FOO
Does the WITH clause convert a query into something that needs special handling? Is it an issue with the ODBC driver?
I haven't been able to find anything relevant in Google, apart from learning that it seems to be an ODBC issue and not Oracle specific.
I connect to Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0 from Windows Server 2003 using PHP/5.2.6. (No access to Metalink or
Oracle support, though, it's a customer site.)

Actually, Dominic Brooks helped me with that a while back. You don't want the enclosing parentheses because it can throw odd errors, even in SQL*Plus. It's in this old post of mine here:
    http://blog.mclaughlinsoftware.com/2008/10/19/inline-views-table-fabrication-and-the-with-clause/
As to differences on the parser between ODBC and OCI8, I'm not certain but believe that they use the same parser. To the best of my knowledge there are only two parsers (actually three but the other is old and only used by the Applications Division for their adpatch utility). There's the SQL parser and the PL/SQL parser. However, if somebody knows more, please chime in with the details.

  • Cannot click Accept when Installing Acrobat Standard 9

I have tries to install Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard on two different windows PCs. It installs ok, but when you come to use it, it offers you then EULA window to accept the license.
When you click on Accept, it just sits there. There is no repsonse.
When you click on Decline same thing.
The screen/applicationis frozen. The only course of action is to abort the
    program from Task Manager.
The Operating System is Windows Vista. Can anyone help please.
The PCs have all the rep-requisites to run Adobe Acrobat e.g. RAM, MHz etc
    Regards Jim Cooper

Can anyone help? Trying to install Acrobat 9.0 Pro. Cannot accept the agreement. Bouncing from department to department at Adobe Tech support with no success. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. No success. Went thru the registry and removed all Acrobat references. Followed steps in this article with no success, http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?7@@.3bc424c7/72
Made sure the user was a local admin when installing. Made sure monitor settings were correct.
Just got transfered again to another department. 48 minutes of getting transferring. Yea!!!!

  • My LED Cinema Display seems to be zoomed, any suggestion to solve it?

Im using Mavericks, over a Macbook Pro 2.26 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8Gb RAM Mhz DDR3, OS X 10.9.1
The screen has a strange recent behaviour, some times you can see some little RGB tiny spots, sometimes its gonna just turn black and now seems to be zoomed. Ive already check and is not the Universal Access tool enabled, when I go to Preferences at Displays, I cannot choose the size of each screen cause "Best for display" appears there with out outher option, same case in the second screen
Please help, im not sure what is wrong, i left the screen in the box for a couple of months with out using it, shall this action could be a reason for??

sounds like you should just restore it.

  • 945P Platinum, memory divider (BIOS)

First I want to say hello to all users!
I recently bought MSI 945P Platinum motherboard with Bios v1.3, CPU is Intel Celeron 2.66GHz, 64bit, LGA775, 256mb cache which I intend to replace with some Pentium D in about a month. But until than I tried to overclock CPU but all I achieved is 145*20=2.9GHz (default is 133*20=2.66GHz) Vcore 1.4v, with Kingston VR DDR2 533MHz memory. The thing is that FSB:DRAM is always 1:2, how can I change this in bios? I think that the problem is memory, it wont go more than 580MHz... and if I put FSB at 146 the only solution is CLEAR CMOS.
I didn`t tried with different bios versions because there are no other versions to download from msi.com.tw.
    P.S. I also tried to set in bios>core cell>memory manual 4-4-4-11 533MHz but nothing happens, I cant change FSB:DRAM from 1:2.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    You can.
The o/c method goes like this: Every 1 FSB rised = 2 RAM MHz rised. If your 2.66GHz Celeron is 133 x 20, 133 is the FSB and 20 is the multiplier so your RAMs will be 266 x 2, where 266 is the RAM speed and Double Data Rate 266 will give approx. 533MHz. We'll only take the FSB and the RAM speed here for divider calculation.
133 : 266 will ratio as 1 : 2. If you want to o/c higher in terms of CPU speed, you can try dropping your RAM speed to 200MHz and rising the FSB to higher clock speed. This will allow the RAM speed to increase as well.
