Curl error: Couldn't connect to server

Hi! I try to install teamviewer via yaourt, but I get the following error.
What could be wrong?

Unfortunately I know nothing about yaourt and the curl error, but you can try installing teamviewer with some other AUR helper.
It was some problems with curl download ( 'teamveiwer' - just typo in this post). trying to change curl to wget, but it didnt workes.
I didnt find any solution and reinstall arch(. Anyway thanks!

Error "Couldn't Connect to server"

Someone please help me figure out why my playbook browser cannot open and I receive an error notice which says "Couldn't conncet to server". Its been weeks and its getting frustrating.

Check your wifi connection. Even then same problem then use vpn

Curl: (7) couldn't connect to host

I've been troubleshooting a weird problem in PHP -- turns out it's system-level and not PHP related. In a nutshell:
1. filegetcontents ($url) doesn't work -- (on remote URLs or local URLs) -- it turns an error
2. filegetcontents ($file) works.
3. CURL works on remote URLs, not on local URLs (local.thishost.com).
4. as per php.ini, allowurlfopen On
So, if, at the command line, I enter
curl "http://www.apple.com"
I get the web page. But if I enter a local host:
curl "http://thisbox.domain.com"
I get the error "curl: (7) couldn't connect to host". Now, that same URL if entered on a different machine on the network (but DNS directs to the serveR), it resolves and the page is returned.
Any ideas how to solve this?

The local DNS configuration or local DNS server looks to be incorrectly configured or otherwise not operating as intended, or the local server here is not configured to forward its DNS translations to the appropriate local DNS server.
If the box is configured and running a DNS server, then the host NIC DNS server setting should be aimed at 127.0.0.1 as its DNS server (and no other DNS servers; only your local server(s) and not your ISP servers), and the local DNS services should be configured to respond to the appropriate hosts.
If the local box is not configured as a DNS server, then the host NIC should be aimed at the DNS server(s) for your domain, or at your ISP DNS servers; again, don't mix references to local DNS server(s) and to your ISP DNS servers.

The commands to check DNS here are...
$ dig host.example.com # or whatever host and domain name the target box is using here
$ dig -x 192.168.1.1 # or whatever IP address the target host is using
If you're not comfortable with the terminal and the bash shell and its commands, then you can launch the Network Utility out of the Applications > Utilities folder. But bash is probably easier.

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
If nothing above helped, restart your router.
No data is lost due to a reset.

Error message "cannot connect to server"

Often I get an error message "cannot connect to server" when
I want to connect to acrobat.com directly from a .pdf document in
order to upload it . Is it possible that there is some security
issue involved, e.g. that the document is protected somehow? Or
could browser or firewall settings be involved?

Perhaps yes, firewall, and browser popup blockers have been
known to cause some behavioral, and connectivity issues within
Acrobat.com
Users have had success with allowing *.acrobat.com as a
trusted site locally, to see if that allows connectivity.
Also what browser, and OS are you using?
If still in the Unix environment, do you have access to a
Windows, or Mac environment?

HP ENVY 4500 Printer "Error. Cannot connect to Server"

Hey everybody,
I work in IT and have a client that recently purchased a HP Envy 4500 all-in-one. She called me to install it for her and I got it set up with no problems. After a few days she told me that her printer wouldn't scan. It was giving her this error message;
"Error. Cannot connect to Server. Check Server name and address."
She has this computer connected via USB and I have already reinstalled the driver and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor with no success. I have tried a lot of other solutions that people have been posting with the same issue but none have worked. This has become a huge issue and I don't see HP trying to find a solution. If no soultion will fix this, then I will be returning this printer for her and getting something that works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are getting a connection error message when trying to use the scan to email feature of your Envy 4500 printer.
To be able to use the scan to email feature the printer must be setup with web services which requires the printer to be connected to your wireless network with an active internet connection. I have included the Getting Started with ePrint document for reference.
If the printer has been setup with a wireless connection, please set a manual IP address and manual DNS server for the printer. I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots, on how to do this. Please don’t worry that the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.
Please let me know how it goes.

Image Ultra Builder 4.0: "An error occurred while connecting to server: Check the server"

Ladies & gentlemen
I am using evaluation version of ImageUltra Builder 4.0 for Windows
XP. Both server and console have been installed on the same machine.
When I try to add a new repository, then after pressing the final
"Finish" button I get the message "An error occurred while
connecting to server: Check the server".
This message appears when the service IUServer runs.
I have not found any mention of this error neither in the Internet nor
in the documentation. Can any one suggest what could have been done wrong?

I've had the same problem when trying to generate a database on an external storage unit. When I create a new repository there are two option:
1) Location: - This is the location where you want to store the files itself. This server does not have to have a database running on it
2) Server: - This is the name of the server that actually runs the DB2 database that keeps track of the repositories. This server does not have to be the same as the location where you store the files. This could also be the IP address of the server, not necessarily the name.
The documentation for this is somewhat confusing, but the above stuff works atleast. I have tried in never versions than 4.0 as well.

If it has been deployed to a single managed server on the default port then you will need to add the server in EAS console as servername:9000

Network error could not connect to server 127.0.0.1:5900

I have created a virtual machine in VM manager from a template and when I try to view the console I get the error "network error could not connect to server 127.0.0.1:5900"
The way that I have everything set up is this.... I am using Oracle VirtualBox installed on Windows 7 and I have created a virtual machine in VirtualBox with Oracle Virtual Server installed and I have Oracle VM Manager installed on that same virtual machine. After reading some forums I found out that I needed to install TightVNC to be able to use the console from Windows IE. So, I have installed TightVNC on my OVS but I can not even tell if it is running. I have also made sure that in iptables that port 5900 is open. I have confirmed this by using nmap to scan my ports and port 5900 is open for vnc when my virtual machine in vm manager is running. I just can not figure out why I am getting the network error unless TighVNC is not running on my OVS. Does anyone have any ideas for why this might be happeneing. Thanks

it seemed when you registered the OVM server to the OVM manager, it did not deliver the correct hostname, but the local address instead.
See if your /etc/hosts contains the hostname in the 127.0.0.1 line.
Correct the /etc/hosts, remove the OVS server and reregister with OVM manager.

i am trying to set up scan to email every time i go through the proses at the end i get this message on hp m276nw error (printer cannot connect the server) i put the out going email in then i put in the printer port and server number in when i do the test it says  error printer cannot connect the server any help will be well come

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when you scan to email you're receiving a message stating cannot connect to server. I will do my best to assist you! Please follow this entire HP document on How to Scan: From the Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a PDF, and to a Network Folder) just to make sure everything is correct.
If this doesn't work, then please follow these steps to try setting an alternative DNS to see if that resolves the issue:
•    Open the Embedded Web Sever on your computer.
•   Click the Network tab.
•   Under Wireless click on IPv4.
•   Under DNS Address Configuration select Manual.
•   Set the Preferred address as 8.8.8.8
•   Set the Alternate address as 8.8.4.4
•   Click Apply twice to confirm the change.
•   Turn the printer Off and back On and see if the issue is resolved.

Portal not starting - Error: Couldn't connect to DB

I have installed a WAS ABAP 6.40 stack running on AIX 5.2 and Oracle 9.2.0.6. I then successfully installed a JAVA add-on stack. I then successfully installed a portal.
The portal was working fine, I could successfully logon to it via the url http://<fully qualified hostname>:58400/irj (84 being my instance number)
Now the portal no longer works. Some investigation has found that my J2EE engine is no longer starting.
When I enter the command startsap as <sid>adm, I see the following:
Checking BWD Database
J2EE Database is not available via test
See logfile JdbcCon.log
Below is an extract from the file /home/<sid>adm/JdbCcon.log
Error: Couldn't connect to DB
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
IBM AIX RISC System/6000 Error: 2: No such file or directory
Also from the log file /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS84/work/std_server0.out I can see the following:
<SAP J2EE Engine Version 6.40 PatchLevel 87289.311 is shutting down!>
If anyone can advise, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sam,
Sometimes it is only because you have not set the environment correctly (ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID).
Is your TNSNAMES.ORA correct?
If you do a "ps -ef |grep oracle" you should get a list of processes. Make sure you see PMON and SMON processes as well as the LSNR processes.
If you don't see the LSNR processes start the listener.
If this don't help try to start the DB manually and check with tsnping, otherwise come back again with mor info.

Publishing error (failed to connect to server)

Using X5, I am trying to publish to our help server (web help
pro), but getting a message in the output window "Warining: Failed
to publish to 'yourserver'. reason: Failed to connect to server.
All my permissions are set up as described here:

So... I ran a packet sniffer and then tried to publish
again... and saw that the publisher attempts to access

When I try to access this address in a browser, I get a 401 error
with the message below.

I can not seem to figure out what ACL is incorrect. I tried
running process monitor (from winternals), and did not see anything
helpful. The IIS www worker process seems to access all the robo
files/registry without error.
Has anyone else had this problem? Can I get some guidance on
how to resolve? We are about to purchase support incidents, but the
sooner I can resolve, the better.

I'm afraid I won't be of much help except to say that this is
a classic permissions issue. I have to assume you've checked and
double-checked the link referred to in your post (which is a good
one).

In helping others troubleshoot this, it sometimes turns out
that there are firewall issues that are not obvious especially if
you are in a large organization crossing many domains from author
to server. Are you the ultimate "server admin" or is there someone
in your organization's network admnistration who could help resolve
the permission issue?
