Currency Conversion Variable is showing the Technical name of the variable.

Hi friends,
We are using currency conversion Variable in our querie, it was showing the description of the variable until yesterday.
Somehow something has changed and suddenly its showing up the Technical Name inteasd of Description. This is happening not only to one variable but for many of them.
Can someone pls guide me how to rectify this?
Your help verymuch appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

We had the same problem. Unfortunately this setting only seems to be available for a query view. We were using web reporting anyway so we just converted the dataprovider to be a query view where this setting had been made. It's a bit ugly but it worked.

  • Currency conversion variable

I have a question regarding currency conversion variable.
We have USD and CAD currencies in BW. I created a currency conversion variable in the properties of a key figure using average rate for current date (0MEANTODAY) and that variable was working fine for a long time. Now I noticed that variable got corrupted in BWD but still works in BWQ and BWP systems. I can see in BWD that variable has nothing in a Variable Represent box and Ready for Input checkbox is not checked. It doesn’t let me to fix or repair this variable. I cannot run any existing queries in BWD that use this variable. The error message is “Variable 0MEANTODAY is not permitted for the target currency”
I created another currency conversion variable that works in BWD. I know it is ok to have multiple variables for a dimension, let’s say Cal Year/Month has a number of variables. I am not sure whether it is allowed to have multiple currency conversion variables and use different currency conversion variables in different queries. We have about 40 queries that use old currency conversion variable in BWP. If I’ll move new query with a new currency conversion variable to BWP, will it cause any problems for the existing reports that use an old variable? I want to know whether it will present a problem running 40 reports that are already in prod besides the fact it will be inconsistent for a while until I’ll switch all reports to use a new variable.
I don’t know why that variable got corrupted.  A few weeks ago basis applied some patches in BWP and copied it to BWQ and BWD systems but I am not sure that caused a problem.
I am relatively new to BW and will very much appreciate any help. I haven’t done transport to production for more that a week and cannot wait any more.
    Thanks,
    Polina
BWD – DEV;  BWQ – QA  and BWP - Production

I was dealing with this problem for more than a week. Finally I got help from SAP today. As it was explained to me, we were using very old version of BW front end (part of SAP GUI) which became incompatible with the new patches we applied in BWP and copied to BWQ and BWD. Basically, I was told to upgrade BW front end that caused problems especially in the Variable Wizard area.
I repaired the currency conversion variable and move it to production. So far all reports run ok in production.
If anybody will have problems with currency conversion variables, please check your front end version.
    Thanks.

  • Currency Conversion variables

    Hi,
I have some reports in BEX and recently we got BO XI 3.1 latest release in our office. So, i started migrating all the reports to BO. Since my user dont want to use the BEX in going forward (not even BEX query). So im wondering abt the currency conversions.
Because in BEX Query the currency conversion variables are been defined, is there any equivalent in BO??? or BO Xi 3.1 can read the currency variables defined in the RSCUR??
    Thanks,
    Siva

    Hi Siva,
I am not sure why no one has replied to this, but it is probably because no one knows the answer (including me!). I am not aware of where currency conversion values are defined in Business Objects, or Web Intelligence. I know there are locales which interpret data into your language, But I don't know very much as to how they work,
Maybe there is someone who reads this who can help? I would like to know also!
    Thanks

  • Sorting Currency conversion Variables in Query Selection screen

    Hi Experts,
I have an issue in sorting variables.
A Currency translation is used here which has two selection options here, one for "Currency" and one for "Currency conversion date". They just pop in somewhere in the selection screen with out order. I want to put them together either in the middle or at the bottom.
They are not visible in the Variable sequence tab of query properties.
I changed the text for each of them (Ex. "XCurrency"), so that it sorts alphabetically, but no difference.
Had anybody come accross this issue before.
    regards
    G Rai

    Hi,
This seems strange that the variable does not show in the query properties. One thing I can suggest it to try changing the technical name/desciption of the variable if that changes the order.
Please update back the thread if that helps.

  • Report output showing in technical names

    Hi,
When I execute a query, input variables and report out put are shown up generally in InfoObject descriptions before.  Just suddenly what happened don't know these reports are showing up output in Technical names, Input variables and the report as well.  Where do you make this to set as default to display in InfoObjects descriptions input variables and the report as well instead of technical names.  Kindly help, I appreciate your answers.  Thanks

Sometime it happens because of the lanugate setting of the browser.
If the browser is internet explorer, you can go to Tools > Internet Option > General > Language and if you are using English, it should be added there (and I guess as first language).
Try if it solves your issue.

  • Currency conversion not flowing in the report

    Hi,
The currency conversion is showing correct in TCURR table but in the query it is populating wrong.
Can any one advise if I need to do any report relevant changes to make it properly visible in the report.
    Thanks,
    Lakshmi

    Laxmi,
Can you elaborate on this? If you can copy and paste the snapshot of what you are getting in the report, that will help us to understand what you are trying to say.
    Thanks,
    Hemavardhan.

  • How currency COnversion calc scripts refers the HSP_Rates members?

    Hi,
After creating the corrency conversion script based on selection of Scenario.Version, version type,currency.. planning also creates copy of this script as HSPCrtT & HSPCrtB. Here how its refering to HSP rates dimension?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Have you restarted Essbase server after increasing cache sizes?
Also verify if there are any calculations that are dependent on dynamic calc members.
Assuming Entity is a Sparse dimension, you can use FIX instead of IF in the calc script.
    FIX(@UDA("ENTITY","CNY"))
    "Local" / "Entity"->"Versions"->"Currency"->"Function"->"Level"->"CNY_Rate" ;
    ENDFIX
    ...similarly for rest of entities.
Also you can use USD instead of LOCAL as you had already copied LOCAL to USD.
    USD = "USD" / "Entity"->"Versions"->"Currency"->"Function"->"Level"->"CNY_Rate" ;
in similarly way you can try to fine tune the script for better performance.
Try these things and come up with the outcomes.

  • Using currency conversion and text variable at the same time

    Hi all,
In a 3.5 bex query, i am applying currency conversion on a key figure with a variable of 0currency.
as i know, to be able to apply currency conversion, variable of currency should not be in Free characteristics or in Filter.
it has to be selected only on the key figure.
but now, i want to use text variable for selected currency (with type replacement path). But as i know, to be able to use text variable, variable of currency has to be
in Free characteristics or in Filter.
Can you please advise, how to both use currency conversion and text variable on currency?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sancho

    Sancho,
I'm not 100% sure about this, but I'm thinking that if you are pulling the text variable from a selection in a structure, you should not need it in the free characteristic or filter. Try creating a structure, placing the currency in it as a selection, and creating a text variable as the title for the selection that is based on the currency. This may help.
    Cheers,

  • Web Page title is showing technical name of the report

When BI report is running from portal (web), in the wab page titel is showing report technical name. But i want to display report description,
If any one knows about this pls send me the how fix that. I am working on BI 7
    Thanks
    Samit

    Hi,
Have you used a Text Item for displaying the name of the Query ? If yes, in the properties of the Text Item, you would have binded the Data Provider. Here, you can give the option of Displaying General Text and the General Test Item can be the Query Description.
Pls let me know if you have used somthing else or in some other way.

  • Currency conversion with variable in selection mask with problems

    Hi Gurus,
I want to implement a currency conversion as follows:
when the query is opened a selection screen should appear and the whole data which is with Euro currency should be possible to translate in USD, GBP, FRF (depends on which currency the user is choosing).
I did a conversion with a variable with default value USD but I am not able to insert multiple currencies like GBP and FRF as default value/ suggestion in variable.
I created a variable on 0Currency with following adjustments:
    - Processing By: Manual Input/Default Value.
    - Reference Characteristic (0CURRENCY) Currency.
    - Variable Represents: Single Value.
    - Ready for input: checked
    - default value: USD.
With adjustment "variable represents" > "single value" it is not possible to insert two or three currencies as default value.
When changing "variable represents" to "multiple single values" or to "selection option" it is possible to insert two or three currencies as default value.
But when the variable is saved with "multiple single values" or "selection option" the variable doesn´t appear in currency translation type in tab currency when selecting target currency with option "target currency from variable".
Any idea why the variable doesn´t appear with adjustments with "multiple single values" or "selection option"?
Or any idea how it is possible to achieve my whished currency conversion?
    Thanks in advance!

That´s correct. I want to have a list of currencies in which it would be possible to translate. That means clicking in selection mask and the list appears.
That was my first thougth ... removing the default value. I removed the default value but only Euro (EUR) appeared in that list for selecting. I thought this has maybe something to do with the data which is available in the cube and that is only in EUR.
I will check the RSCURR and what kind of currencies are available.

  • Currency conversion issue in SPM. We are getting incorrect results with SPM conversion function from one of the document currency to USD.

Currently we are using SPM 2.0 version and we have been facing currency conversion issues.
Please help me in following aspects.
    1) Where actually currency conversion happens in SPM. Is it the global program which does the conversion or other way.
    2) We have conversion issue for one of the currency where conversion function is giving incorrect results when converting from one of the document currency to USD. here The respective document currency is considering the 1:1 ratio with Dollar which is actually incorrect.
    3) We have verified in both BI side(currency tables) and even ECC side.
Please help me in understanding this issue and let me know if you need more information on this.
Its an production issue and appreciated your immediate inputs.
    Thanks

    Hi Arun,
The following information may be helpful to you.The SSA_HELPER_PROGRAM has options regarding currency settings.
EXCH_RATE_TYPE: This flag governs the exchange rate type which will be used for currency conversion in data management. For example if RSXAADMIN contains an entry EXCH_RATE_TYPE = „ZSPM‟ then the conversion type used for currency conversion is ZSPM. The default value for the exchange rate type is „M‟. More details can be found in the note 1278988.
CURRENCYCONVERSION: By default data management converts all the measures in transaction currency to reporting currency and copies over to the corresponding measure in reporting currency. If the measure in reporting currency is already available in source it might be desirable to disable the currency conversion. To disable the conversion you can make an entry CURRENCYCONVERSION = „ „ in the table RSXAADMIN. This can also be achieved by running the program SSA_HELPER_PROGRAM with the option DEACTIVATE_CURRENCYCONVERSION. The conversion can be reactivated by running the same program with option ACTIVATE_CURRENCYCONVERSION.
UNITCONVERSION: Similar to above. To deactivate unit conversion you can use the program with option and DEACTIVATE_UNITCONVERSION and to reactivate ACTIVATE_UNITCONVERSION. By default both the conversions are switched on
EXTERNAL_CURRENCIES: Normally most of the international currencies are stored with two decimal places however certain currencies do have 0 and 1 decimal place too. For example JPY has 0 decimal places. SAP internal format stores even these currencies with 2 decimal places and at the time of display it changes the value to right decimal places. In case a file from external source is loaded to SPM it might have the format with 0 decimal places in the file. To convert it to SAP standard format post processing needs to be done on this value. If that is the case you can set the flat EXTERNAL_CURRENCIES = „X‟ in the table which will enable the post processing for these values. This flag can also be set and reset using the helper program using the option TURNON_EXT_CURRENCY_FORMAT and TURNOFF_EXT_CURRENCY_FORMAT.

  • Currency conversion in a query.

    Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to give the facility of currency conversion of some of the key figures in a query.
There is no key date specified in the Functional specs based on which I can create the currency conversion thing.
    What I want to know
1)Is there any other way we can do currency conversion if we dont have a Key date.
2)Also is it essential to restrict all the key figures which require currency conversion with the key date variables.
If we don't restrict the key figures will the currency conversion thing be still valid.
    Please advise.
    Kind Regards,
    Kate.
