Currency Conversion variables

Hi,
I have some reports in BEX and recently we got BO XI 3.1 latest release in our office. So, i started migrating all the reports to BO. Since my user dont want to use the BEX in going forward (not even BEX query). So im wondering abt the currency conversions.
Because in BEX Query the currency conversion variables are been defined, is there any equivalent in BO??? or BO Xi 3.1 can read the currency variables defined in the RSCUR??

Hi Siva,
I am not sure why no one has replied to this, but it is probably because no one knows the answer (including me!). I am not aware of where currency conversion values are defined in Business Objects, or Web Intelligence. I know there are locales which interpret data into your language, But I don't know very much as to how they work,
Maybe there is someone who reads this who can help? I would like to know also!

Currency conversion variable

I have a question regarding currency conversion variable.
We have USD and CAD currencies in BW. I created a currency conversion variable in the properties of a key figure using average rate for current date (0MEANTODAY) and that variable was working fine for a long time. Now I noticed that variable got corrupted in BWD but still works in BWQ and BWP systems. I can see in BWD that variable has nothing in a Variable Represent box and Ready for Input checkbox is not checked. It doesnt let me to fix or repair this variable. I cannot run any existing queries in BWD that use this variable. The error message is Variable 0MEANTODAY is not permitted for the target currency
I created another currency conversion variable that works in BWD. I know it is ok to have multiple variables for a dimension, lets say Cal Year/Month has a number of variables. I am not sure whether it is allowed to have multiple currency conversion variables and use different currency conversion variables in different queries. We have about 40 queries that use old currency conversion variable in BWP. If Ill move new query with a new currency conversion variable to BWP, will it cause any problems for the existing reports that use an old variable? I want to know whether it will present a problem running 40 reports that are already in prod besides the fact it will be inconsistent for a while until Ill switch all reports to use a new variable.
I dont know why that variable got corrupted. A few weeks ago basis applied some patches in BWP and copied it to BWQ and BWD systems but I am not sure that caused a problem.
I am relatively new to BW and will very much appreciate any help. I havent done transport to production for more that a week and cannot wait any more.

I was dealing with this problem for more than a week. Finally I got help from SAP today. As it was explained to me, we were using very old version of BW front end (part of SAP GUI) which became incompatible with the new patches we applied in BWP and copied to BWQ and BWD. Basically, I was told to upgrade BW front end that caused problems especially in the Variable Wizard area.
I repaired the currency conversion variable and move it to production. So far all reports run ok in production.
If anybody will have problems with currency conversion variables, please check your front end version.

Currency Conversion Variable is showing the Technical name of the variable.

Hi friends,
We are using currency conversion Variable in our querie, it was showing the description of the variable until yesterday.
Somehow something has changed and suddenly its showing up the Technical Name inteasd of Description. This is happening not only to one variable but for many of them.
Can someone pls guide me how to rectify this?

We had the same problem. Unfortunately this setting only seems to be available for a query view. We were using web reporting anyway so we just converted the dataprovider to be a query view where this setting had been made. It's a bit ugly but it worked.

Sorting Currency conversion Variables in Query Selection screen

Hi Experts,
I have an issue in sorting variables.
A Currency translation is used here which has two selection options here, one for "Currency" and one for "Currency conversion date". They just pop in somewhere in the selection screen with out order. I want to put them together either in the middle or at the bottom.
They are not visible in the Variable sequence tab of query properties.
I changed the text for each of them (Ex. "XCurrency"), so that it sorts alphabetically, but no difference.
Had anybody come accross this issue before.

Hi,
This seems strange that the variable does not show in the query properties. One thing I can suggest it to try changing the technical name/desciption of the variable if that changes the order.
Please update back the thread if that helps.

Using currency conversion and text variable at the same time

Hi all,
In a 3.5 bex query, i am applying currency conversion on a key figure with a variable of 0currency.
as i know, to be able to apply currency conversion, variable of currency should not be in Free characteristics or in Filter.
it has to be selected only on the key figure.
but now, i want to use text variable for selected currency (with type replacement path). But as i know, to be able to use text variable, variable of currency has to be
in Free characteristics or in Filter.
Can you please advise, how to both use currency conversion and text variable on currency?

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I'm thinking that if you are pulling the text variable from a selection in a structure, you should not need it in the free characteristic or filter. Try creating a structure, placing the currency in it as a selection, and creating a text variable as the title for the selection that is based on the currency. This may help.

Currency conversion with query selection mask and InfoObject 0Curtype

Hi,
question to following scenario:
in the data source is an column with the currency type. This currency type column contains values like
10 = company code currency
20 = account area currency
So for each data set in the table is an assignment of currency types.
In the cube is an InfoObject called 0Curtype (for currency types 10,20,30 ...).
In the BEx Query should a filter or selection be possible before the whole data is displayed.
The user can select in which currency he wants to display the data. When he selects the 10 the whole data is displayed in different currencies which are available because its local currency (Euro, Dollar etc.). By selecting 20 the whole data is displayed in Euro.
Does anybody knows how to achieve that? Is there any function module availabe which is provided by SAP and it is available for use?

Hi There:
You have two options available.
One you can define currency conversion variable in transaction RSCUR. Then use this currency conversion variable at query run time using a formula Key figure and go to Conversions tab and select this variable. Then at query run time the query will convert your key figure from source currency type to target currency type. But this can significantly impact your query run time because the query will calculate this at query run time.
The second option is to use a standard SAP function module CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURR in the back end and store this key figure in the back end during data load. This way the query will run faster for you. The difference is significant in my case.

Inputs on Currency Conversion

Hi Experts,
I need some help in the Currency conversion variable that I am using in my report.
I have few caluculated key figures that are caluculated on the basis of difference between current date and the Net Due date. Currency conversion is used in these variables.
I also have few Restricted keyfigures that are restricted on the Fiscal Period. Same currency conversion variables are used in these key figures also. The currency conversion variable is at a Fiscal period level.
However, the currency conversion is not happening on the Caluculated keyfigures but it works for Restricted keyfigures.
Please provide your valuable inputs.

Please give us some more information on the calculated key figure. How is it defined? I assume the calculations is based on amounts and not on dates as you've written?

Currency conversion with variable in selection mask with problems

Hi Gurus,
I want to implement a currency conversion as follows:
when the query is opened a selection screen should appear and the whole data which is with Euro currency should be possible to translate in USD, GBP, FRF (depends on which currency the user is choosing).
I did a conversion with a variable with default value USD but I am not able to insert multiple currencies like GBP and FRF as default value/ suggestion in variable.
I created a variable on 0Currency with following adjustments:
- Processing By: Manual Input/Default Value.
- Reference Characteristic (0CURRENCY) Currency.
- Variable Represents: Single Value.
- Ready for input: checked
- default value: USD.
With adjustment "variable represents" > "single value" it is not possible to insert two or three currencies as default value.
When changing "variable represents" to "multiple single values" or to "selection option" it is possible to insert two or three currencies as default value.
But when the variable is saved with "multiple single values" or "selection option" the variable doesn´t appear in currency translation type in tab currency when selecting target currency with option "target currency from variable".
Any idea why the variable doesn´t appear with adjustments with "multiple single values" or "selection option"?
Or any idea how it is possible to achieve my whished currency conversion?

That´s correct. I want to have a list of currencies in which it would be possible to translate. That means clicking in selection mask and the list appears.
That was my first thougth ... removing the default value. I removed the default value but only Euro (EUR) appeared in that list for selecting. I thought this has maybe something to do with the data which is available in the cube and that is only in EUR.
I will check the RSCURR and what kind of currencies are available.

Get variable in Target currency under currency conversion Tab for Key Figure

Hi Experts,
In one of the query in BEx Designer, for particular set of key figures I am unable to edit Target Currency under currency conversion.
We created user exit and using a variable in BEx.
When I chose currency conversion parameter in "Currency Conversion", Value in Target currency is empty but I am expecting the variable to get displayed over there.
Please suggest me how to get variable in target currency. or how to edit property of key figure "Target Currency"

which parameter you maintained in conversion type that is currency translation type which is maintained at T-code RSCUR and see which info object you maintained at currency tab after defining the currency translation type i.e at Target currency -> Info object for determining Target currency which is FROM INFO OBJECT in Target currency .

Multiple currency conversion via one variable possible?

following problem:
I have a report which contains different currencies (e.g. EUR, CHF, etc.).
In this report we have different calculated key figures (on cube level).
Each key figure have different currency conversion (maintained in rrc1).
Question: Is it possible, when the user starts (execute) a report one variable
pops up e.g. display all key figures in USD <b>all different currency conversions will be reflected</b>? In the system I don't know where.
Any idea?

Ok, I find a solution by myself.
In the AdminInfo object is a property called MultiCurrencyCheck. When this is set to cc_NoMessage, I can save the journal entry.
If you want to change this setting in Business One:
Select Administration --> System Initialization --> Document Settings --> Per Document tab --> Journal Entry tab
There is a check box "Allow multiple currency transactions". The description is wrong and it should say "Block multiple currency transactions", like the other. When it is unchecked, I can make multiple currency transaction otherwise not.

Currency conversion type with variable for target currency

Hi,
I use a currency conversion type with a bex variable for target currency in a query in order to convert a Key Figure. It works fine but instead of short text description there's the technical description of the variable in the selection screen. How can i change the description of the variable ?
For information, in the bex, we can't see the variable in "variable sequence". I use BI 7.0

Hi,
The problem was that in the maintenance of the currency translation type the option Target Currency from Variable was checked. As a consequence in the properties of our key figure the drop-down-list Target Currency was set to from variable with no chance of changing it (it was grey).
What we can do was to choose the option Target Currency Selection with Translation instead of Target Currency from Variable. Now, in the properties of the key figure we can choose the variable in the dropdown-list Target Currency and tick the option Variable Entry. As a result, the variable shows up in the query properties and we can change its arrangement.

Currency conversion type by customer exit variable doesn't work

Hi all.
In my query I need amounts by quarter, applying quarters last date rates as currency conversion.
Query has Year parameter. Based on this parameter, by customer exits I calculate every quarters last date and use them as currency conversion types.
The problem is that query DOESN'T APPLY currency conversions!
I checked TCURR table - currency conversions do exist for applied days
I checked my customer exits - the date calculation works fine
I suppose where is something wrong in query processes (customer exits/currency conversions) sequence before running it.
Someone knows anything 'bout that?

Currency Translation Type in queries using currency conversion

I have a question on the Currency Translation Type (EUR_VAR) that is used in all of the queries using currency conversion on the fly. (currency is maintained automatically nor in table.)
User wants to use 2 different exchange rates in a single query. The months in 2010 (Actuals) are to
be converted using Xchangerate-type EURO and the months in 2011 (Planned) to use Xchangerate-type USD.
But store different rates with different starting dates. This is however not possible because the Currency Translation
Type is set-up (1) to work with Query Key date - rather than a characteristic in the data and (2) apparently these
currency translation types only work with time characteristics like 0fiscyear
My idea is therefor to:
1. Create a new variable (similar to EXC_RATE) to prompt for a 2nd Exchange Rate type when query starts
2. Create a new Currency Translation Type (next to EUR_VAR), referencing the new variable or sticking to fixed Xrate type, fixed to EUR
Is this possible to create Idea (2)

The best way would be to create two curr conversion types , one converting to EUR and other to USD .Put them in properties of coressponding KFs in query.For timref in RSCUR , variable time ref can be used individually for two conv types.

Help needed with Include ZXRSRU01 in relation with currency conversions

I'm implementing how to paper: Use variable time references in currency conversions (BW 3.3). When implementing variable exit RSR00001 & write include ZXRSRU01 an issue pops up.
The relevant code is:

When implementing the following message pops up:
"l_s_var_range" has already been declared.
In another statement ' l_s_var_range ' is already used.

Hi,
somebody already declared that workarea (l_s_var_range), so you can directly use that without any declaration (data l_s_var_range type rsr0_.....). you can remove that statement and you can work.
   Otherwise if you want to use to declare your own workarea,
data ls_range (or any name) type rsr0_....
DATA: l_s_var_range TYPE rrs0_s_var_range. *** this statement you can remove since somebody declared the same.
****or use ur own work area name and use that work area within your code.

    Currency conversions are currently achieved at BEx Query Designer level where target currency is determined through a Selection Variable.
Proposed Solution:
   As per the Business proposal, BW will be publishing the data to Terradata; a universe will be built on Terradata and a WebI report will be based on this universe.
Question:
   How can this type of currency translation be achieved in WebI Based Report?
