Currency translation for key figure in bex not working.

Hi friends,
i want to do currency translation for key figure(invoice value in local currency).
i have followed the steps as under:
1st Transferring Global Table Contents: Currencies from R/3 Systems
2nd than transfer exchange rate - from r/3 to bi
3 than In SPRO settings of BW there is option "consider translation ratios in translation"
4th than used transaction RSCUR for creating currency translation type: parameter(exchange rate:m, soure currency fom data records, target currency ISK, time ref: current date)
5th than in BEX query designer have sated this for key figure
but when i run query in RSRT, curreny amount not getting convert?
am i missing any step?
pl. guide.

Hi Dushyant,
Are these steps followed in Query designer??
In the Query designer, for that particular key figure property, under Conversion tab >> Currency Translation >> Conversion Type, select the currency translation type you created in RSCUR.
And in the target currency, select accordingly.

Currency Translation for Key Figures with Value More Than One Currency

Hi...
I have query which display key figure GL Account Balance. The currency that used for this key figure is USD and IDR. How we want display value based on selection screen? So if we input currency USD, all value that use currency IDR translated to USD and all value that use currency USD not changed. Otherwise if we input IDR, all value that use currency USD translated to IDR and all value that use currency IDR not changed.
How we do this in query designer? Thank you.
I have use currency translation :
1. (Right Click Key Figures >> Properties >> Currency Conversion Key)
2. Target Currency Using Variables Entry
but seems the result is not correct. Can anyone help me ?

Thanks for your help, but still I have problem. I have create one currency conversion type, ZXXX. This currency conversion type is using exchange rate type = "M",source curr from Data Rec, sel of targ currency with translation,
and fixed time ref = "Current Date".
Problem:
1. With this setting, i create currency translation in BEx, but the result is not same, it's like the exchange rate not using the same setting with data in ECC (I compare data with transaction fs10N). Is my setting for exchange rate not correct?
2. When I try to display GL Account Balance --> Calculated Key Figure (Total Debet - Total Credit) for period 0, the translation not working. Example if the value is IDR 1234 then the value in USD still USD 1234. Why this happen?

Unit 0ORDER_CURR for key figure 0ORDER_VAL is not recognized in the update

Hello Experts,
I am getting the below warning while I am installing the business content for Purchasing Cube 0PUR_C04 update Rules
"Unit 0ORDER_CURR for key figure 0ORDER_VAL is not recognized in the update rules"
And the business content activation is terminated.

We facing following issue during APO operation in live cache.
Error details:
"Characteristic combinations with liveCache anchor but without time series"
"Key figure description for key figure YKFRFCFGD does not exist in liveCache"
"There is an inconsisteny between the key figure descriptions in liveCache and in the database. The key figure description of key figure YKFRFCFGD exists in the database but not in liveCache."

Virual Key figure exit does not work

Hi,
Detail - We are trying to build a logic for a virtual key figure.
We have created a VKF (Virtual key figure) and added that in cube and respective multi-provider.
We also added that VKF into the query .
Now we are using following approach and it doesnot work -
Approach 1 -
We created BADi called ZBIVAR_IMP based on RSR_OLAP_BADI using SE19 transaction. In this definition , we included our class - ZCL_IM_BIVAR_IMP
We activated this BADi definition and then in our Z Class - we have 3 methods, define, initialize and compute. We activated break-point .
We wrote a code there and followed sample code of CL_EXM_IM_RSR_OLAP_BADI class.
Now when we try to excute our query from RSRT, system doesnot stop at our break-point. In another words, this BADi is not getting called.
We also observed following settings if that matters --
1) When we go to RSRT for the query name and click on option, "No paraller processing" is on.
2) When we go to RSRT and click on technical info, we see "Virtual key Figure" property is set to NO. If this needs to be changed then how do we do that?
3) We activated BADi definition but not sure if we need to activate BADi implementation , if yes then how?
Approach 2 -
We develop code in one of the BEx user exit called EXIT_SAPMRSRU_001
In this exit , we have include called INCLUDE ZXRSRU02 .
We donot have any other includes such as ZXRSRZZZ or ZXRSRTOP. To be frank , we donot know how to use these includes and where are those available to be used?
Problem of this approach is we cannot use C_S_DATA that gets final logic of key figure to be used in BEx report.
Both of these approaches doesnot work..

Currency Translation for Calculated Key figures

Hello Friends I want to use the Currency Translation for Calculated Key figures.
But when I go to Query and go to conversion tab it is always greyed out. Does that mean we can set the fixed conversion type for calculated key figures. like ZSAD Total debit - credit -flow value.
What is the way to do fixed currency translation in query for calculated key figures.
All the below is done now just want to specify this in query but I can'nt since it is greyed out.

I have created a Currency Translation Type " FiscperConversion" "ZVHGR" now this has Exchange Rate Type from Variable "ZVARN" (Which is a variable single value manual input on 0RTYPE Infoobject for exchange rate.)
2. Now Currency Tab: Target Currency is selected from Variable placed in the Report. ZRPVAR.
3. Now the Variable Time Reference is used. Standard Infoobject 0FISCPER
which is beginning of period.

Your calculated KF is result of some calculation ...so system will not allow u to do any translation on it...to get CT on CKF you should do it on base key figure...still if you wish to do then you can create a formula variable having processing type a customer exit...write code in cmod to rad exchange rate and multiply ur CKF by this formula variable....

Dynamic Texts from Bex ( for Key Figures ) not coming to WEBI Query

Hi Gurus,
We have a Query in BEx : Each Key figure column text changes dynamically - Like based on Present month
it will Display Month +1 Month +2 up to Month +12. Used dynamic Text variables .
But when i created the universe and Webi report , i am missing the text in the column for Key figures .
How should i get the column text in Webi which is same as in Bex : Points will be awarded for helpful
answers.

Hi,
text variables with replacement path are supported in BO4.0, see following document: SAP BusinessObjects BI4 - Supported BEx Query Elements
As an example after entering 2012 in the prompts window, the name of the corresponding key figure will dynamically change:
After refreshing and selecting 2013, the column name will update:
Im not sure though if this is the case with unv universe access to BEx queries.

How to write conversion routine for key figure?

Our customer has this requirment:
we need to know the last time of some TV program in BEx report, If a TV program last 500 seconds, we need show the key figure like this: 00:08:20, If a TV program last 100000 seconds, we need show the key figure like 27:46:40 (27 hours and 46 minitues and 27 seconds), If we define a key figure as time, BW system will report a error that say it is not acceptable time. If we want to define a integer, but we need display it like hhmmss format. We know we can write conversion routine for char. but I don't how to write conversion routine for key figure.   Please give me any hint if any other solutions?

If you want to do in Transformation Layer :
You can use routine ...break up the seconds into minute hour and seconds
you will have to handle few cases in this:
let say your variable lv_seconds holds the number of seconds you want to convert to hour min and seconds
DATA: lv_seconds type i,
           lv_hrs type i,
          lv_sec type i,
          lv_min type i.
lv_hrs = lv_seconds / 3600
if lv_hrs >= 1.
lv_min = (lv_hrs - trunc(lv_hrs))*60
here again handle seconds if min >60.
else.
lv_hrs = '00'.
lv_min = lv_hrs*60
It is just hint ..how you can manipulate the seconds to get it...you will have to think about the complete algorithm

Using Explorer with Calculated Key Figures from BEx (BW 7.31 / BI 4.1)

I'm looking for suggestions on how to leverage data from calculated and restricted key figures in BEx (from a BW 7.31 system) with Business Objects Explorer (from a BI 4.1 system). Our current process involves some complicated workarounds and with the implementation of BI 4.1 and I'm hoping to streamline things a bit.
Here is what I had in mind...
An information space (indexed daily) sitting on a universe (hopefully UNX) that referred to a BEx query on a multiprovider in BW. My understanding was that universes would be able to consume BEx queries (including their restricted and calculated key figures) in 4.1. Based on a recent post (http://scn.sap.com/thread/3417905), it appears that the feature that I was hoping for may have not made it into the GA release. Obviously, I could move the calculations and restrictions into BW ETL or maybe into the universe, but since that work has already been done and lives in the queries, I'm hoping to use them! Also, we could use a different tool such as WebI, but at this point the user base is comfortable with Explorer and we would like to continue to use it.

Regarding to the BEx connection in Explorer, SAP provide two solution
1. BWA connection
2. Unv on top of connection
For the UNV situation, you could use the calculated / restricted key figure in the system but please assgin the aggregation level for them (Database delegate is not supported if I am not wrong)
Also plese consider two points
1. Data size (UNV cannot support large data size)
2. Scheduling (Explorer does not support event trigger? correct me if I am wrong)

Can I run the currency translation for multiple years at the same time?

Dear Friends,
I set up currency translation on our BPC NW 7.0 system and it is working fine ONLY if I run it for any one year at a time. But if I select multiple years in the data package (FX Restatment) selection it only calculates for the first year in that selection.
say if I run the data package for years: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, it only performs currency translation for the year 2009.
Can I run the currency translation for multiple years at the same time ?
Note: The year is determined from the YEAR property of the "Time" dimension

You can run currency translation for multiple years.
I think the problem it is actually related to how you are sending the parameter to currency translation script.
Just review the script logic log and you will see with what parameters was called currency translation FXTrans.
My expectation is that actually the script is called just with first year and that's the problem.
Log of script logic you can find it into:
C:\BPC|DATA\Webfolder\YourAppset\YourApplication\Private Publications\Users used to run logic\Temp

The macro attempted to modify a key figure that is not locked

In my planning area I choosen detailed lock, keyfigure specific lock and do not lock read only keyfig after that In interactive DP, I have 2 Planning Books A and B .when I load the selection for book A itu2019s loaded well because all are editable key fig but when I load book B I get error u201CThe macro attempted to modify a key figure that is not lockedu201D in this book 3are editable keyfig 3 are display. I am in SAP SCM 7.0,I had seen the SAP NOTE 851731but its too old i think now iam in advanced that that but that note is not there in my system .
Any ideas on why this is happening?

Hello,
According to your setting in the palnning area ("do not lock read-only key figures"), if you have set a key figure as "Output Only" in /sapapo/mc8b or by a default macro, then this key figure could not get locked.
It is not allowed to make changes to unlocked key figures. So if there's a macro that tries to update this key figure, you'll get the error message.
If you have "do not lock read-only key figures" set, you must make sure that your macros do not make changes to those key figures that are output only (read only).

Can we give the more than 2 decimals for key figure

Hi,
can we give the more than 2 decimals for key figure while entering the manuall planning.
Ex:There is keyfigure called 0DEBIT which is having values as 1000.00 USD, 137688.00 USD.which are displaying bydefault whenever we entered the values while planing or File.
what Customer is asking us 0DEBIT keyfigure values should be display 1000.0000 USD, 137688.0000 USD. ( added two more decimals for keyfigure value).
Can we maintained decimals more than two.........?

Hi,
Though you can specify the no of decimal places for each keyfigure in the 2nd screen of layout builder but say if you have entered scaling factor as 1 and decimal places as 4 and user enters value as 15.2546, then in the cube it will be stored as 15.25 because physically the keyfigure can store values only upto two decimal places, so it will round up the figure to two decimal places. But, if you specify the scaling factor as 2 and decimal places as 4 than value 15.2546 will be stored in the cube as 1525.46.
If above explanation doesn't help you i finding out the solution for your requirement than you have to either change the number of decimal places in the keyfigure or tell user that technically it's not possible in BPS.

What makes this a Key Figure Model (and not Account Model in BW)

Consider the simplified a company income statement:
Sales
COGS
-- Gross profits
Selling and Administrative expense
Deperication expense
-- Operating profit
Interest expense
-- Earnings before taxes
Taxes
-- Earnings after taxes
Each of this lines is represented in BW as a key figure (lines with '--' represented as calculated KFs).
Different persons or companies may use their own details of income statement. For example, someone want to see instead of one line "Selling and Administrative expense" two - separatly selling and administrative expenses, or even break down of these expenses by category. In the KF model every new introducted line should be represented by a new KF.
In the Account Model every line is represented by one KF only. Let name it as 'Amount'. Another characteristic is telling us what kind of amount it is. Imagine that you have accounting trial balance that lists accounts, starting and ending balances, and debit and credit turnovers for each account.
An accountant will tell you that a credit turnover in account #XXXX represent the company revenue (sales), a debit turnover in account #YYYY - cost of goods sold etc.
Simplified inflow of transactional data will consist of:
Account Amount
XXXX    -12345
YYYY    8765
etc.
In this model (assuming that you load data for all accounts) you can easily change the scheme of calculations and their presentations (groupping, regroupping etc.) in reports without creating new KFs.
In your example you provide a KF model because every distinct type of amounts is represented by its own KF.
