Currency translation on future dates in SAP BW-BEX

Hello All We have a requirement where in user needs to do a currency translation at run time for data in future periods. For example : Savings data on a purchase order .Total savings for PO is $100,000.00 in year/month 2014/008 . We have a from and to date based on which the savings is equally distributed for each month. From 008/2014 to 008/2015. So each month savings in this case is $8333.33. This data is stored in cubes.  Currency translation is based on data in TCURR and TCURX tables . We do not have future currency rates in these tables. Table is up to date only as of today . Therefore the question arises WHAT RATE WILL BEX USE TO CALCULATE DATA IN FUTURE PERIODS? (It is doing the conversion from USD to CAD - but there is no idea what rate it is using? The currency translation variable is based on 0calmonth. Please help me understand what are the default settings for currency translations in this case ? Thank your your help. Sainath Kumar

Hello Yasemin Thank you for your answer, we too think that could be the case. But is there any documentation confirming the same. Also in this case the future values will keep changing based on the availability of the data in TCURR table. Thus the report values will not be constant.Technically it makes no sense to convert rate today for a value in future. I am looking for a concrete answer from SAP saying that this is what the Bex query will do in case the future rates are not present. This will give the business a base to work with .

  • EBS currency translation not "posting date"

    Hello,
We implemented EBS ealier this year.  The currency translation date on the FF_5 postings is taking the "document date" and not the "posting date" when determining which currency exchange rate to use.  This is only an issue for a couple days at month end when the document date is in the current month, but the posting date is in the prior month.
What do we need to do to change the currency selection back to "posting date".  I have never seen SAP use anything but posting date.  I have tried reviewing all the configuration of doc type and other set up during EBS implementation and cannot see how we have triggered this date.
    Any help appreciated.
    Regards,
    Morgan

I neglected to mention that we are calling this currency translation through a WAD button using the SET_CURRENCY_TRANSLATION command.  I did do a test by applying the currency conversion within query key figure.  This seems to work.  So it appears the issue is with how the WAD is processing the variable, not the query.  When I display the variable in a drop down item within the WAD it does have the default value that I have assigned in user exit.

  • Skip currency translation for certain data source members

I have got percentage data againist some data source members which I do want to translate when the currency translation is executed. Is there a way to achieve this? The business rules for currency translations only have account and flow dimensions and does not include data source dimension so I am not able to filter out datasource dimension members in currency translation business rules.
Any suggestion how it may be possible to filter data source member during currency translation execution?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,
You can use the *XDIM_MEMBERSET with the DATASRC dimension to limit what data gets translated (7.0 M SP9)
Please see [Note 1522149|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1522149] - XDIM_MEMBERSET can be used with DataSrc in Business Rule
Also, the IS_CONVERTED property in the DataSrc dimension can also be used:
    The IS_CONVERTED property
The members of the DATASRC dimension will be processed according to the value of the property IS_CONVERTED, as per the following rules:
IS_CONVERTED = N: These members are ignored in the conversion
IS_CONVERTED = Y: These members are converted from LC into the desired currency
IS_CONVERTED = G (group): These members are copied from the reporting currency of the GROUP being translated into the currency member corresponding to the given group.
This obviously only applies if the translation is run for a GROUP and not for a reporting currency.
All members of the DATASRC dimension having the property IS_CONVERTED not set to u2018Yu2019 will be skipped.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Currency Translation on Key Date for AR Aging

    Need your valuable advice!
I have created an AR Aging query including both Open and Cleared Items based on 0FIAR_C03_Q0005 standard query. However the requirement is to do currency translation to Group Currency (USD) on Key Date. This Key date is defaulted to today but the user can change this to go back in time and pull all the ARs as of that back dated key date.
I was planning to create a currency translation type on M rate based on the Key Date Variable in RSCUR. However I am confused on which variable to base this currency translation. I have several key date variables in my query such as 0P_KEYD2 (based on Posting Date), 0P_KEYDT (based on Net Due Date) and 0P_KEYD3 (based on Clearing Date).
Which Key Date Variable should I use in 'Time Reference from Variable' field in RSCUR? Would it be one of the 3 mentioned above or something else and why?
    Appreciate your valuable advice.
    Thanks,
    Al

    Hi,
Yes I do want to use the Key date from the variable screen and I am using the standard 0FIAR_C03_Q005 with slight modification including currency translation.
As I mentioned in my original post I have several key date variables in this query such as 0P_KEYD2 (based on Posting Date), 0P_KEYDT (based on Net Due Date) and 0P_KEYD3 (based on Clearing Date). My question is which one should I use if I want to base it on the specific key date variable from the variable screen? I need the specific Key Date variable technical name.
    Thanks,
    Al

  • Foreign Currency Translation at Year End - How SAP Works for P&L items?

    Hi All,
I wanted to know "How SAP works on Foreign Currency Translation at year end" from Local Currency to Group Currency for P&L Items.
I know how SAP works for Balance sheet items but am really confused with when the translation was done for P&L Items.
    Configuration:
We are on ECC 6.0 . Local Currency is CAD and we have 2nd Local Currency as "USD - Group Curr".
We have set up Valuation Method - 4
We have set up Valuation Area - 40
For Account Determination for Currency Translation, GL accounts (Loss, Gain and B/S Adj)  were setup for the combination of Chart of Accounts, Val Area and Fin Stmt Ver.
    Sales Account Balance
    CAD (LC)        USD (2nd LC)
    1000                   920
Using tcode "FAGL_FC_TRANS", we translated our P&L items.
Local Currency is CAD and Group Currency is USD.
CAD 1000 and USD 920 are cumulative balances over a period of time.
Since at the end of year CAD became stronger, exchange rate is 1.11 as an example
    Sales Account Balance
CAD (LC)        USD (2nd LC)        Translated Value in USD
    1000                   920                        900
System passed the following entry in USD:
Debit Balance Sheet Adj A/c 20
    Credit Translation Gain / Loss A/c 20
    Here are the questions:
    1. How does over all translation work? - Should we get any Gain / Loss and have an effect on P&L when all accounts (P&L, B/S) are translated?
    2. How can there be a gain entry when USD value has really fallen from 920 to 900 in the current case.
    Thanks for your time.
    Vijay

    Hi,
I had this issue too.  The entry was just opposite to what it should be.  I just flipped the accounts in table FAGL_T030TR.
Example: 410000 is sales account which normally should have a credit balance.  Here are some entries that were posted to sales in 03/2009 and I am running FAGL_FC_TRANS at the end of the month.
    March 1, 2009 Cr. Sales CAD 1000- USD 900-
    March 2, 2009 Cr. Sales CAD  500- USD 480-
During FC translation transaction, system takes the balance in the account for the period (if you execute it with 'Val. period balance only' checkbox checked) and not the cumulative balance.  SAP recommends translating period balance only (and not cumulative balance) for P&L accounts.  It sees a balance in LC (this again depends on the config. you have in OB22 - whether the indicator is 1 (TC as source currency) or 2 (LC as source currency for translation)) which is 1500, converts that at month end rate.  After conversion, lets say the balance is 1400-.
In this case, we expect a credit entry on sales account
    March 31, 2009 Cr. Sales CAD 0  USD 20-
But system was just posting the opposite.  I then flipped the accounts in FC translation configuration.  I know it is misleading.  In that configuration, system says balance sheet adjustment account, but what you should actually give there is your gain/loss account.  Our gain/loss a/c. falls in the same GL account range as the main account.  For example, for 410000, it is 410999 and for 510000, it is 510999.  We report accounts 410000 to 410999 in the same node in the FSV.
Pl. feel free to ask further questions about this.  Pl. test in your system and correct me if my above reply is wrong.
    Cheers!

  • HTG on currency translation

    Hi All,
Has anyone run across the HTG on "How to run Currency translation for Consolidatiion Application in BPC NW"?  I see a couple of references to it in other HTGs, but I can't seem to find it on SDN or on the EPM How To Guides site.
    Thanks,
    Pam

    Hi,
I was going to post a similar post and decided it would be more appropriate to add to this one.
I am sorry to be posting questions instead of providing a response to that which has already been asked!
Obviously there are 2 different HTGs based on the following...
In the guide  How to do Currency Translation for Financial Application using SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation 7.0 for the SAP NetWeaver Platform.pdf
    ...it says...
Currency translation can basically run in two modes:
    1. Reporting currency mode: where it converts transaction data recorded in local currency to
    specified reporting currency
    2. Group mode: where it converts subsidiariesu2019 data to Groupu2019s currency.
There are mandatory conditions listed below under the dimension properties session that should be
satisfied for the currency translation to run for any type of applications in reporting currency mode.
If you want to run currency translation in group mode, there are some extra conditions that are
needed. However this HTG will cover only the type of applications in reporting currency mode. Please
refer to the HTG on u201CHow To run Currency translation for Consolidation Application in BPC NWu201D to see
how to run in group mode.
Even though no one has responded yet as to where the HTG on u201CHow To run Currency translation for Consolidation Application in BPC NWu201D is at, I would like to ask anyone who may be able to help whether the "group mode" option is either optional or mandatory to implement legal consolidations in BPC? If it is required can anyone explain the difference between "reporting currency mode" vs. "group mode"?  If it is optional why would one go with one option vs. the other?
Thanks in advance for any response

  • Currency translation problem

    Dear All,
I am trying to create  the currency translation type and use it in the Bex Designer. But its not converting the values at all.
    Output required:-
Need to convert all INR values to fixed USD currency. Source currency is always INR and target currency is always USD.
But customer i going to give us the exchange rate for everymonth and we need to apply the latest exch rate depending upon when user is running the report. We are planning to store the rates in some z table as of testing we are accessing tcurr table.
    Case:-
Say user is running report as on today then last month rate(july month rate) needs to be picked up.
Say user is running report today but viewing report data as of May only then also latest rate i.e July month rate needs to be picked up and applied.
Backend activities while creating translation type:-
    Exchange rate type :- M
Source curr:- Source curr from data rec.
Target curr:- Fixed target curr - USD.
Time reference :- Variable time reference , Begining of period, standard infoobject i.e 0FISCPER.
I am not very sure on what values needs to be selected for Time reference tab in order to achieve my case.
    Frontend activities:-
Using the same key figure and changing the currency translation properties.
Reqeust you to give ur inputs on this.
    Thanks & Rgds,
    Anup

    Hi Mansi,
Thank you very much . I am now able to select my variable.
But one small concern. Now after creating the currency translation type i just need to maintain the rate in tcurr table rite?
My value would for tcurr table would be;-
    M INR USD 20090701 47.095
    M INR USE 20090601 460258
Use this variable in Bex Designer.
Is there any other area which we need to take care of.
    Thanks & Rgds,

  • Currency translation differences with an effect on earnings

    Product Version: SAP R/3 46.C
    Componente: EC-CS-CSF-E Currency Translation
In currency translation program of ECCS (tx CX40) the prior year portion of translation differences that affects earnings is posted in current period in the earnings retain item (ER) which according to SAP documentation "Currency translation differences with subsequent consolidations" is correct, however when we run the currency translation on subsequents periods this amount is posted again generating a multiplying of differences on each period.
In accordance with section u201CBu201D of SAP note 553586, the carryforward item (retain earnings) was assigned to translation key 5, to avoid multiplications of this difference in every execution of currency translation for current period. This correction was applied successfully, however the problem is now generated when we run the currency translation in every subsequent period.
SAP notes 582815 and 553586 was applied succesfully.
We also verified SAP note 1045402 changing the translation key 5 to 1, for balance carryforward item (retained earnings) this avoids the difference effect on subsequents periods, but  generates a translation differential effect undesired on this item, since this is a historical item that not must be altered by currency translation.
Additionally we read SAP note 509509 and we think that this issue corresponds whit symptom 2 of that note.
    Step by Step:
    Transaction: CX40
Setting of Translation SET in translation method:
    1.- MARS-GAP-Monetary:
    1.1.- Items of balance sheet
    1.2.- Translation Key 1
1.3.-  Item for differences: income statement item with an effect on earnings
    2.- MARS-GAP-NonMonetary
    2.1.- Items of balance sheet
    2.2.- Translation Key 6
2.3.-  Item for differences: income statement item with an effect on earnings
    3.-MARS-MOR-Monetary
    3.1.- Items of P&L
    3.2.- Translation Key 5
3.3.-  Item for differences: income statement item without an effect on earnings
    4.-MARS-MOR-NonMonetary
    4.1.- Items of P&L
    4.2.- Translation Key 6
4.3.-  Item for differences: income statement item without an effect on earnings
    5.- MARS-HIST
    5.1.- Items of balance sheet
    5.2.- Translation Key 6
5.3.-  Item for differences: Balance sheet item without an effect on earnings
    6.- ANI-BS-FX
6.1.- Items of differences SET MARS-HIST and Carryforward Item for special items in transaction CXD3, the same item for the balance carryforward (retained earnings)
    6.2.- Translation Key 5
6.3.-  Item for differences: Balance sheet item without an effect on earnings (the same item for the SET MARS-HIST)
    7.- ANI-BS
7.1.- The special balance sheet item in Transaction CXD3
    7.2.- Translation Key 5
7.3.-  Item for differences, the same item
    8.- ANI-IS
8.1.- The special income statement item in Transaction CXD3
    8.2.- Translation Key 5
8.3.-  Item for differences, The same item
    Note:
1 .- According to the point A of the note  553586 was included the FS Item 484051011(difference item for SET MARS-HIST)  in the conversion SET ANI-BS-FX
2 .- According to Section B of the note 553586 was included the account for carried forward  481000001 the special accounts set up in the transaction CXD3 in the conversion SET ANI-BS-FX
3 .- According to Section C of  note 553586 are included special accounts set up in the transaction CXD3 390000 and 251200, in the conversion SET ANI-IS and ANI-BS respectively.
When run the currency translation in the new year 1-2011, the prior year portion of translation differences that affects earnings is posted in current period a credit to earnings retain and debit to account difference in SET for this account. This amount is same on special balance sheet item 251200, in tx CXD3, also found on the statistical FS item.
Then in subsequent periods, 2 - 2011 it posting another credit to earnings retain and debit to account difference in SET for this account, generating a multiplying of differences on each period, even though the difference for this account (ER) in the log of the translation currency is equal to the difference posted to the previous period, show this in transaction CX34 for items of translation (1) for this account until 1-2011.

    Hi,
just a information how I did a workaround about this:
The opening (movement type 100) of the balance sheet item "differences of currency translation" is customized with "don't change...".
Every increase  to "differences  of currency translation" works with e.g. movement type 120 and will be carried forward to 100.
Maybe this is a scenario you can use...

  • SAP reporting - currency translation

    Hello Guys,
In  SAP report S_ALR_87013558 - the output is beeing displayed in unwanted currency.

When checking report painter form: 12KST1A, I can see that the key figure is set to 'Overal in CAC'

    Hello Didier,
My case is little relevant to the cureent post.
I have created a variable with RSCUR transaction code to get user input date.
This variable prompts in the sap query.
Upon my SAP super query we have built an universe, to build bo reports.
As this variable is created with RSCUR transaction code, it is not reflecting with universe designer to get translated.
Can you please provide me any approach, on taging this variable with other dimension at sap query level or any other approach to solve this issue.
My requirement is to include it with sap query, to get reflected with universe.
Please let me know the approach on passing values from one varaible to other variable, which i guess would solve this issue.
    Thanks.

  • Currency translation - not picking up currencies from master data

    Hi,
We have a currency translation defined for a key figure. We've defined a variable for users to select target currency. 0currency is set to pick up from master data, but the input help on the variable is only showing currencies from infoprovider. I debugged the query and it is trying to get the currencies from the cube. Any setting that I do or update?

  • Currency Translation date  change.

    Hi,
we use multiple currencies .For a  sales organisation EUR currency, 2nd local currency isHUF, 3rd local is CZK. Translation happens on translation date. Invoices can be made  in VF01.
These invoices use one important date, called billing date. This date is the key for few things, e.g. postings to FI happens on that, or baseline date calculation. Billing date is normally determine document date, document date determine translation date.
All these will bring that translation from document currency to 2nd local will happen on billing date. Is it somehow possible to change the logic? Can It somehow be defined  which date should be used for translation? Can  different date be used for translation than billing date?
    Regards

    Hi
When you creating a order you can set a currency at Sales A. (double click on material).
    It maybe solve your problem.

  • SAP Posting to Future Date

    Dear Gurus
SAP as an standard allows posting to a future date. Our client requirement is that we need to restrict the same so that  no user can post to a future date. What is the setting required to be done for the same?
    Regards
    Rahul Taneja

    Hello,
There is no setting as such, unless you open 365 posting periods, which is not feasible, due to high maintenance.
You can write a validation in the system GGB0 saying that (at document header)
Posting data not greater than system date, say otherwise give ERROR.
Assign this validation in OB28 for your company code.
Hope this will solve your issue.
