"Current assignment" field missing in Handling Unit status tab

Our scenario is as below:
1. STO created and outbound deliveries generated
2. Deliveries are assigned to shipment
3. Packing is done using RF transaction
In the normal scenario, the HU status tab would show the outbound delivery number in the current assignment tab. But for some Handling Units, the current assignment field shows blank. Also, the contents tab shows only the delivery line item number and not the delivery number. We have also noticed that the problem delivery line items have been packed in 2 different Handling Units, each containing the full delivery line item quantity. (not sure how this is possible). One of the HU is displayed correctly but the other one has the missing delivery number issue.
Has anyone encountered such a scenario? How is the system allowing to pack the same delivery item quantity in 2 different Handling Units? Any suggestions in this regard would be very helpful.

Failed to update handling units status

Hi,
I'm joseph. I'm trying to load my shipment in LM30. I have 8HU's in one outbound shipment. I successfully loaded the 5HU's but on the last 3HU's i encountered problem "Failed to update handling units status" <note that they are nested HU's>.
Do you know how to fix this problem?

Hello ,
Please consider the following points when doing the load process.
If loading is by HU, the HU must be still in the warehouse but post good issue deletes the HU from the warehouse. With Transaction LM30 , you can load the HU only before the goods issue. Also , all of the RF transactions provided in the SAP standard product are to be used for the warehouse operations. Here , the HU must exist in the warehouse to be able to use the LM30 for loading.

The material is having the Packing ( Handling Units).
In delivery please do the Packing for the Materials because they have linked with the Handling Units. and Also check the wheather the Handling Units are configured properly.

A handling unit is a physical unit that consists of the packaging materials (load carrier / packaging material) and the goods contained therein. A handling unit is always a combination of materials and packaging materials. All the information contained in the material items, such as batches and serial numbers, is always available by way of the handling units.
Handling units can be nested, meaning that you can also create new handling units from several handling units as often as you like.
Handling units have unique, scannable identification numbers that can be formed according to standards such as EAN 128 or SSCC.

Structure
The handling unit object contains the following attributes:
     Identification number
     Dimensions
     Weight
     Volume
     Status
     Materials and quantities
     Packaging materials
     Packing instructions
A handling unit consists of a handling unit header and handling unit items. For identification purposes, it is given a unique number.
Handling unit header
The header data of a handling unit is divided in the following way:
     Weight/Volume/Dimensions
     General data
     Means-of-transport data
     Additional data
     Output determination procedure

Status
The handling unit is linked to general status management. In this way, the various physical states (planned or implemented) and other attributes (weighed, loaded, blocked or posted goods issue) of handling units can be documented.
You can use the HU_ST_INIT user parameter when you create handling units without object reference to set which initial status the handling unit is to have when it is created.
If you want to implement a status of your own, you can define a user-specific procedure for the packaging material type (see also Define Packaging Material Types).
Handling unit item
The items of a handling unit can consist of material items, packaging materials or other handling units that appear in an overview. For more information about this overview, see the Contents section of Editing detailed data for handling units.
To access the item data of an individual handling unit, select the handling unit concerned and choose Goto  Detailed HU data  Contents.
Integration
Handling units can be used in all processes within the supply chain.

Assign Serial numbers to handling Units in the Packing

Hi,
I'm using a Function module SERNR_ADD_TO_HU for to add Serial numbers into the handling units. Function module executed successfully and returns a commit value 'X', but table SER06 was not updated. Is there any thing i'm missing (or) is there any other function module for to add serial numbers to the handling uints.

You can use FM WS_DELIVERY_UPDATE to update serial numbers in HU assigned to deliveries.
I've just finished the code (it took me about 4 days to get it right!!! it was driving me crazy, but it's working now!!!).

Assigning Serial no to Handling unit

Dear All ,
I am having problem in creating serial no for the handling unit which i have created in the transaction code HU02. I am only able to create serial no for the items within the handling unit but is unable to create a serial no for the handling unit.
Please anyone tell me is there any way to create serial no for Handling Unit by this transaction code or any other transaction code.
Help me in resolving this matter , i need to resolve this problem urgently.

You cannot create serial number for handling unit.
Serial number can be created for the item of handling unit.

Query problem: Some fields missing for org unit

I'm currently trying to fix a Minimum Compliance Report with some missing fields.
For a specific organisational unit no data is being generated for distribution and logistics.
How can i make sure organisational units generate a compliance figure correctly. The formula in the query is fine however when i generate the report there are X's in some fields.
How can i find the error?
any advice will be appreciated

Hi Neil,
Have you tried using the function NDIV0 or NOERR in your formulas? The X in some of the fields may be due to undefined values (e.g. division by zero).

Handling unit status at table level

Dear Experts,
I want to know the logic to find only those HUs which exist in the inventory i.e. which are present physically. I do not want those which have been delivered/deleted/scrapped etc. How can I get this at table level and what filters should I use?

Handling Unit Status (0031) - Physical Inventory

Hello Friends,
We need to know when the system change HU status to 0031 in table VEKP (HU Header) . We assumed that, it will be during physical inventory posting for HU's and for testing the following transactions are executed -
1. HUINV01 -
2. HUINV03
3. HUINV04
4. HUINV05
However after physical inventory doc posted and material document generated for difference, system still showing the HU Status as 0020.
In this regard, please suggest whether we are doing the correct way or what is the method to adjust the HU's and when the system update the status 0031 in HU table.

My smartform(picking slip ) is triggering from vl02n transaction,my requirment is
to change the status of handling unit to 60 (Delete) ,after my form printed,
I checked with FM hu_update_status but it is not changing the VEKP-status field for that particular hanling unit .

Generally Smartform is used to print the Output of Packing Slip,?
You mean after packing is over you have to Modify the handling Unit status?
then you have to find the status of packing and based on that field you have to modify the JU status.

When I try to confirm a Transfer Order system by default assigns a Pallet (packaging material - pallet) handling unit.
Is there a way I can assign a Master Carton handling unit (packaging material - MC)?
Am I missing any customizing entries?

the customizing for the creation of the Pick-HU:
IMG: Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Interfaces -> Shipping -> Define Shipping Control.
Define Control for Automatic Creation of Pick HUs. Check the entries for you whse/source/destination/movmnt type.
I suppose at least that is what you mean with "by default assigns a Pallet (packaging material - pallet) handling unit". Or anything else?

Hi All,
How to give external number range to a handling uni.
The scenario is:
In HU02 screen I am giving packaging material number, material number and quantity.
Than when I press enter system automatically taking one number in the handling unit field.
But my client wants to give here an external number range not the internal number range.
How to give external number range for the handling unit?

Assigning New Numbers for Handling Units
Use
If, for example, you are going to deliver handling units worldwide, unique number assignment for identification of the handling units is necessary, and it is also a good idea to assign SSCC18 numbers ( see also EAN128).
Prerequisites
In the Customizing settings for the packaging material type, you must maintain the Handling unit type field.
In Customizing, choose Logistics General ® Handling Unit Management ® External Identification ® Define Number Assignment for Each Packaging Material Type.
Maintain the HU type for EAN128 field for the relevant packaging material type.
Procedure
In the packing dialog, select the Pack material tab.
Select the handling unit for which you want to assign an SSCC18.
Choose Extras ® SSCC number assignment.
Result
A new SSCC18 number is generated and automatically assigned to the handling unit.

Duplicate Handling Unit Number

Hi All,
I am stuck with this error where I can see same handling unit no. in two different deliveries. I am not able to figure out why is the handling unit repeating. I checked it in the VEPO table where I see same handling unit no but in different year. So i am guessing it is repeated with fiscal or calendar year. Can any body please help.
I am maintaining number range using SNRO --> HU_VEKP

This could be repeted handling unit number.Check the HU number range is the HU number used before ?.I think you can compare the handling unit number with current number series.
Befor conclude number range before assigned to new delivery is the handling unit is un assigned status 12 (This you can see HU03 transaction ).If yes then there is no problem assigning of handling unit to new delivery.What is the satus of old delivery is it completly receipted or it is customer delivery ?.If it is inbound delivery and completly receipted and the handling unit status before 12 then there is no problem.

Extrernal Number Ranges for Handling Units in COWBPACK
