Current Lightroom 5.6 version gone...
I've been using Lightroom 5.6 for over a year. Today I opened lightroom and was asked to register. Once I was in my catalog all the photos and presets I have uploaded for the past year are gone. What happened?
It sounds as if you have created a new catalog. In Lightroom, go to File->Open Recent, and if there is another catalog listed choose it and see what happens.

I want to upgrade my currently Lightroom 4 to Lightroom 5 but can't find anywhere on Adobe to do this apart from going to cloud which I don't want to do , is there still the possibility to do this or has cloud the only option.

Might want to wait a month or so as Lr6 will be out so you won't have to upgrade twice. Trouble is no one that knows can say when it will be released so it could be awhile or next week

I have not been able to open up Lightroom on my computer for over a year now. Whenever I double click on it, this comes up - can anyone help? Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:lightroom.exe Application Version:3.4.1.10
First thing to try is the latest version of Lightroom (currently 5.6). If it don't crash, then problem solved - upgrade.
If Lr5 won't run on your machine, then Lr4 instead.
If both Lr5 and Lr4 crash on your machine, then at least you know it's a not a Lightroom version problem but something wonked in your system.
If you can't figure out how to resolve the crash on the system you have, then it's time for a new system (or try another converter/editor app).
PS - A few things to try:
* After re-installing new version, if that doesn't fix it, then get rid of all Lightroom-related data files (rename them so they can be restored), in case problem is in Lr data file.
* Remove all non-essential hardware in case problem is hardware/driver.
* Startup up machine with minimal software services.
* If still no go, consider updating driver software, including mainboard drivers and/or bios firmware if need be.
* Of course run all the system hardware and software diagnostics you can - problem could be failing disk or ram..
* Check system event logs for any clues.
If you don't know how to do some of these things - ask.
Do not say "you've tried everything" unless you want a lecture - there is most definitely something you haven't tried. It's like when you can't find your car keys - you haven't looked everywhere - there is somewhere you haven't looked!
PS - Has Lightroom EVER worked on your machine? what's changed since then..

When I try to update my phone to ios 7 it says i need to update my itunes to 11.0.5, when i check my current version in help menu under check for updates it says I have the current 11.0.5 version. Even the downloader for the update doesnt show that i need to update.Help plzz????
There is some kind of error. The new version of iTunes is 11.1, which although is not available via updates, it can be downloaded from the Apple website here:

After updating iTunes to the newest version you should be able to update your iOS

i am currently running a trial version of indesign. i am trying to make a cd booklet. when i open a new document and try to find 'compact disc' in the document presets, it isn't there. all i have for options are 'default and custom'. is it possible to open the 'compact disc' preset from a trial version?

I am working on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) with boot camp running Windows 7 pro 64-bit. Windows crashes quite often now-a-days and I need to get this fixed. I heard that updating boot camp can help. Currently I am running Version 3.0.4 (322).
Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out. --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.

A few weeks back, I've upgraded the BIOS on my Pavilion G6 1001sq to the latest version (F66). I noticed that the laptop is running considearbly hotter since then and I want to revert to an older BIOS version. When I go to the updates page on the HP website and click on "older versions available" I can only see the F66 version on the page I'm directed to ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-115746-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4... ), although a long list with many versions was available till recently. Where are the older versions gone?Unfortunately, I do not know where they have gone. HP is working on issues with the suport and driver servers at the moment.
Since your notebook does have the UEFI Diagnostics installed, you should be able to rollback to the previous version that was installed. Use the firmware management option to do that.

iOS 4.2.1 is the latest version of iOS for the 3G.
Facebook and Whatsapp both require 4.3 or higher.
If you want to use those apps, either use the old version that should be in your iTunes library or upgrade the hardware to a 3GS or newer device. -

In gereral no - iPhoto '09 and iPhoto '11 both have the same themes as iPhoto '08 - there may be some changes necessary depending on themses used, fonts user, etc
Before upgrading be sure you have a good backup in cae something goes wrong

Please take note that the current Lightroom / Adobe Camera Raw Camera Profile for the Sony ILCE-6000 is very inaccurate: There is a serious green cast in the shadows!
Capture One Express for Sony (which is free by the way) renders a lot more correctly!
Please correct this, since I'd rather buy the coming LR6 because of keeping my established workflow instead of going the Capture One route.
A good example can be found in the dpreview forum "LR5 A6K shadow pulling, a mess! Adobe LR is broken? "
Or search for Philp Reeves 3 weeks with the Sony A6000 review "3 Wochen mit der a6000", where he compares it to the Sony A7, using both times Lightroom to push the shadows.
The Sony A7 is fine where earth looks like brown earth, the A6000 picture looks like grass instead.
Please fix this! This is a high volume camera frequently bought by enthusiast or as second body for FF photographers. That would be really great!I am talking about the two raw files linked in the very last post of page 6 of the Reeves comparison thread, not JPGs or screenshots of unknown manipulation. In LR they both say f/11 and ISO 100 and have a similar tone, but one is shot at twice the shutter speed as the other. This side-by-side is using Adobe Factory Defaults for each image where the profile is Adobe Standard, the toning sliders are all 0, tone-curve linear, and the Sharpening and Color NR are 25:
However, when I look at the camera-embedded JPGs, side-by-side, the 1/80th image on the left is darker than the 1/40th image on the right, as expected given the reported shutter-speed difference:
And it is indeed the darker image that has more shadow problems, also as expected.
When I do manipulate the darker (a6000) raw file in LR, I do see that the shadows are greenish when brightened unlike most other cameras which usually show magenta, which is the combination of the blue and red sensors showing more noise because there are half-as-many photosites as compared to the green, so I am seeing what people are complaining about and would expect shadow noise to be purple not green, I'm more concerned that these two example raws aren't actually comparable due to apparent differences in exposure. It is also odd that the lens listed in LR is different than the lens listed in the filename, so either someone has mistakenly or deliberately renamed the file wrong or someone or something has changed the EXIF parameters that LR is reporting to be the same when they're really not. -
