Current Music Playing (Album Cover etc) on TV Screen?

Anyone heard of a software upgrade from Apple that allows the current song information (what is usually displayed on the IPod screen when music is playing) to be shown on the TV screen (assuming IPod correctly hooked up to TV etc)? It seems kind of dumb to NOT have that ability and only have videos or photos displayed. Having the album cover displayed on the TV would be neat.

Thanks for the help, but since I just spent over a c-note on the AV kit, I expected that ALL video (ie whatever goes to the IPod screen) would be displayed. SHould have read the posts first
Hopefully, the good folks at apple will hear our pleas, and fix this (it is likely a simple softfix, as SOME of the video in question displays, like the volume bar when it is being adjusted) so I KNOW its possible.

ITunes Music and Album Cover Issue

I purchased a 15" MBP a couple days ago and transferred data from my MBA. All data transferred, however, in iTunes, my album art has disappeared, and the music will not play. Has anyone experienced this issue, and if so, how did you resolve? Thanks much!

More than 5 menu items (songs, albums, shows, etc.) on screen?

Hi all,
I really don't like the two line menu items. I just want to see a list of song, playlists, authors, albums, and shows. When you have a list that contains hundreds of entries, I want to see a many on screen as reasonable possible.
Is there a way to turn off the two line menu entries and go back to the simpler menus of the older iPods?

dang, yea i wish there was some kind of setting or whatever that you can change.
some of the album covers it shows...i hate!...hahaha
maybe apple will release a way u can change that feauture or something...i would never use that cover flow thing anywayz....hopefully it will grow on me or something...
is there a way to control which covers show up on the screen on the main menu?...perhaps that could make it more tollerable for me

Streaming Album Cover Screen-Saver crash AND Fix

I suffered from an ATV stutter/freeze and crash whenever I tried to stream music and use Album Cover Art as the screen-saver.
I tried a small, no LARGE experiment (over 35,000 songs) in iTunes. I had *a lot* of Exotica and Space Age Pop from out of print lps and I used to save full scans of the front and back covers in each song. Some were over 1800 pixels in size, adding a couple of MGs to each song! This wasn't an issue with drive space or my current iMac/iTunes for me.
I resized any album art over 600 -700 pixels. If the art was over this size, I used a script to export the art to a 600 x 600 pixel jpg and re-embedded them in the album.
Now I can happily stream, use other macs and still have stutter-free art work on the HD TV. I'm convinced now as some others here, that the ATV is just not powerful enough to push through a graphics intensive task while playing music. Right now as I type, I'm listening to internet radio, my partner is surfing on the other mac AND the screen-saver is displaying my Album Art in all its glory. This was impossible last week. No wonder ATV doesn't offer a visualizer.

A valuable observation Al, I also conducted some simple experiments and found that setting the time taken for the screensaver to kick in for longer resolved the issues with poor response when using the album art as a screensaver.
Perhaps you might share your script so that others might try your diagnosis.

Album cover screen saver?

If I set the screen saver to album cover all I get is a black screen when the screen saver kicks on. I am streaming all of my content and not synching but I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the black screen. I'm assuming that this setting should display a floating album cover art on the screen of whatever song is playing at the time the screen saver kicks on right? Anyone else having this problem?

Yes - I get the same thing. I read on another site that only album covers from synced content show up here. I tried it out and it works. Hopefully a future update allows cover art from streamed content as well....

What does Music iTunes Album Artwork Cache do?

What does this Cache folder hold, and what is it used for?
The reason I ask is I get a very juddery scroll when perusing my music by album cover until all the albums have loaded into memory and then it goes smooth.
If I could increase the cache size that iTunes held of my cover artwork this might fix it...?

It's a cache of the artwork.
It's on the file system, not in memory.
You don't have any options over it's size.
I think what you're asking for is a more effective cache. Much as I'm now commited to iTunes (it runs my iPod and I'm addicted to podcasts) Windows Media Player does a much better job of handling artwork. In WMP the art is rendered on the off-screen sections of the page so that it is immediately visible as you scroll up & down. In iTunes it appears to be fetched as an afterthought.

Using remote app iPhone 5 to play out of iTunes. It looks like it works fine for regular music, but for music videos you can't see your up next unless you go back on the computer to change once you've left the screen. When using the remote app, you shouldn't need to go to iTunes on the PC to view or edit Up Next already added. See first image, you can hit upper right and get back to Up Next (second image). Third image is music video, where you can't get back to Up Next, just swap between full screen and not. I hoped 3.0.1 would have the answer, no luck!

That moves only the iTunes media, not the iTunes library (which is really kinda nebulous).
iTunes library = iTunes folder and all the media, wherever it is located.
The /Music/iTunes/ folder contains the iTunes library.itl file, which keeps track of everything in iTunes.
I do however still have the original MAIN startup drive still in the computer, it's just not the startup.
This is good you still have it.
Try this...
Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library... and select the /iTunes/ folder on the original drive. It should be in /Users/your_user_name/Music/.
Don't mess with anything. We can get it cleared up.

Are these music videos located under Videos on your iPod? Do it play other regular movies (if you have any on the device)?

Album cover view for Radio does not match current song playing

I'm currently listening to the Pop Genre radio station. The play list for this station has clearly been updated recently. I listen to this often and there are many new songs currently on. Something strange has happened with this most recent update. The album cover view no longer matches the song currently playing, so you can no longer use the Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down function to improve the station play list.

Can you try reinstalling Spotify to see if this fixes the problem?
There have been several reports of this recently and everyone was able to solve this by reinstalling.

Did you restore from backup?
Next would be to restore to factory settings/new iPod since maybe you have some corruption in the backup

Music + loockscreen Bug (no album cover when iPhone is lock and play music)

hello there.
I have just got a weird bug on my iPhone 4, while playing music and the iPhone is lock.
The issue is about what happens when I'm listening to music and my iPhone is lock-screen mode (simply say it is locked).
What is happening is that when I'm trying to check the song name and cover of the album (one click on home button) there is only the title of the song and instead of the album cover there is my lock-screen background picture.
I have tried to delete all the covers in iTunes and add them manualy (because when i click download the covers some of them are in wrong place) but it still apear the same problem.

Found another post with a similar issue after upgrading to ios 5 and this worked for him, I might try this tonight and will re-post if it worked for ios 5.1:
1)Connect phone
2)Hightlight your phone on the left side of the iTunes window
3)Click on the music tab towards the top middle of the iTunes window
4)Uncheck "sync music"
5) Click "Apply" down on the bottom right At either this step or the preceding step you might get a
pop up box that says "you have made changes" or something like that, click okay or apply.
6)After this is finished, check to make sure there is no music left on your iPhone by double clicking on your
iPhone in the left hand pane of iTunes and then click on "music" under your iPhone
7)If there is no music on your iPhone, then recheck the "sync music" and then click "apply" down in the
bottom righ.
8)If you have a lot of music it will take hours to sync, but when finished your Dock accesorries should work again.

I recently purchased a new Windows 7 computer. I copied my music from my old Windows XP computer using an external hard drive. I can see all the music, album artwork, etc. when I activate iTunes. However, no songs (purchased or uploaded) will play.

I authorized the computer on my iTunes account (it's now one of three). Everything looks OK, so why won't the music play?

Displaying Album Cover When Song Played on iPod

I have downloaded and synched several songs. When I play the songs on my iPod, it flashes the album cover for the album the songs came from. Very nice.
I recently copied one of my CD's into iTunes and then synched all of the songs on the CD to my iPod. When I play a song from the album, no album cover appears.
Why not and what can I do to display an album cover when I play a song from the CE?

Some music downloading sites have the artwork and artists/album/song name info pre-connected to the audio file through ID3 tagging. You can put the information in yourself by right-clicking the song/album (in iTunes) and clicking "Get Info". You can then edit the song name, artist, album, etc. You can also add/remove artwork, I simply search on Google images and then copy and paste it into the "Artwork" spot. You can also right click on the album and then click "Get Album Artwork", although that doesn't always work.
Also if you go to the file in Windows Explorer you can edit the ID3 tags for album, year, artist, etc.
