Current repair at Apple

My MBPro is currently being repaired with AppleCare. I called to get an update on when it would be returned and they told me that they couldn't give me a date of when it would be completed. They said they need to locate a logic board for my laptop. They said it was a later model so it is not a very common part. Does anyone know what I can do to get a definate answer? The person I spoke with said that if I don't have it back within a time period, they send out a new computer. Does anyone know how long that is?

I just got off the phone and am in the same situation waiting for a logic board. :/
This is the first time sending in my MBP in for repair and when I called last Wednesday
the rep I got was very helpful and even called down to dispatch which in turn they said they
had my computer open and ready to install my logic board!
Called for an update today since my status online has never changed from the date they
received it ("on hold- part on order"). This applecare rep didn't sound as helpful and I felt like
she just gave me a quick reply and couldn't tell me anything other than what I already saw on the site.
Now debating if I should call a little later to get another rep just to confim my status (being impatient "I know").

And, unless I'm missing something, it appears that you're trying to use your father's e-mail address. Start at Find your AppleID and see if you can resolve the issue.

Make a new Apple ID for her.
Use it on her iPhone 4S for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime.
Use your ID on her iPhone 4S for iTunes and App Stores.
Sign in with your Apple ID on iTunes Store (on iTunes app of her new computer)
Authorize her new computer with your Apple ID in iTunes (iTunes menu>Store>Authorize this Computer)
Check "Share my Library on my Local Network" in iTunes Preferences in your and her computer
Sign in Home Sharing of her iTunes with your Apple ID.
Copy all the Music she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Copy all the apps she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Export all playlist as xml files from the old computer to the new one.(right click on the playlist to export and "File>Library>Import Playlist to Import)
Sync her iPhone 4S with all content she wants from her new computer (all data from the old computer will be deleted)
Are you sharing Contacts or other data from iCloud?
Be careful or ask for help about moving from iCloud account to another one.

If you just got it back and it isn't fixed or something else is wrong with it take it back and have them do the repair correctly.

And just in case you were wondering, installing one purchased copy on all the Macs you own is specifically called out as allowed in the Mac OS X Lion license.
If you do not want to download multiple times, just copy the Applications -> Install Lion app to a safe place BEFORE you do the first install. Then copy that copy to any Mac you own where you want to install Lion.

Leave her ID alone and create a new one for yourself with your email address.

All of sudden, I can't launch iTunes as I get a popup saying "iTunes requires Quicktime 7.5.5 or later". I only have 7.4 currently and the apple site doesn't show anywhere to download Quicktime upgrade. Software Update detects no reqd updates. Help pls??

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to switch browsers.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and if desired, open the Mac App Store, and try downloading 10.9. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.

IBook repair recommendation- Apple?

Hi- I have an iBook G4 that is broken- freezes on boot, sometimes before getting to the finder, sometimes once the finder has started, sometimes doesn't get to boot at all.
Fails AHT with an error about the video RAM, but also won't work in target mode- so basically something is fried on the logic board.
Looking for recommendations on repair- does Apple have a flat rate repair for iBooks if I just carry it to an Apple Store, or am I better going to an independent or one of the mail in services- I trust Apple more but don't want to spend a lot more money than another option.
Any chance these logic board issues will get picked up in a recall? i am starting to read about this a bit- this computer is out of warranty (it is a friends, as I always buy AppleCare) but only by about six months, and has been well cared for- my sister's iBook G4 went through like six motherboards while under warranty before they gave her a new one.

Since the Hardware Test fails, and there is no AppleCare, I suggest still taking it into an Apple Authorized Service Center near you and compare the price and time it would take to what you might be able to get from one of these two places as well:

Can I get repairs from Apple without a warranty?

Hello, recently, some damage has been done to my MPB, and I was curious if I would be able to have it repaired by Apple, if the warranty was voided. By that, I mean pay for the repairs, parts, and labor completely. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sure - from an Apple Store or an AASP. You may get a quicker answer from an AASP (most will tell you over the phone for 'standard' repairs, such as, "How much to replace a failed optical drive?"). If the damage is non-standard (e.g. a dropped MBP, with unknown internal consequences), someone will need to look at it, and they'll give you an estimate at that time (either at an Apple Store or an AASP).

Csound1 What Ive been trying to explain is that I have been running bootcamp, I open the app where the first screen is the introduction, i hit continue, the first time I select "download the latest windows support software fromm Apple" then I return and instead select "Install Windows 7." Then hit continue. The third screen is where I "Create a Partition for Windows" I set Windows to 80 gigs then hit INSTALL. As stated before Bootcamp cannot find the install drivers saying "The installer disc could not be found." My windows software is on a USB drive not a disc, I tried using a virtual disc reader to make it appear that the windows software was running on a disc, still no luck. What I would like to know is how to install windows on bootcamp.
