Current Situation - what exactly is being shipped today?

If I order a display today what will be shipped? Anyone any insight? Seems a silly question, but are the old spec displays now gone? Still seems that one or two are still popping up.

I talked to an apple product specialist ...He said all the displays made after March 06 are the ones with the new specs....
Because so many much older displays were still floating around in stores ...Apple did not want to announce the update as of yet ..(In order to protect their stores etc.} They did do this though much later (very quitly) , I think sometime in August 06 by way of changing the specs and prices on the Apple sales page (but not yet on their specs sheet of the apple supportpage}..He told me though he would make sure that those specs ( on the support page} would be changed into the new specs as well.....
In an other thread on this subject, was mentionned that the contrast ratio is very changeable and very hard to measure...
Also I understand that Apple uses components from different sources and when one component runs out they will use another component for the next badge.....
So its not as clean cut or black and white as some of us (me included) initially thought...
Also some people seem to receive screens which are brighter and with more saturated colours than others ...
How is your screen????? Mine is similair to my one year old one except the swivel mechanism is less smooth and can make a crackling noise when swiveled...

  • What exactly is being synced in Mail?

In System Preferences>.Mac>Sync there is a checkbox for Mail, another one for Mail Settings (or so, I can't check because I have a keychain error that does not allow me to get to the Sync page). Can anyone tell me what exactly it is, that is being synced??? I understand that the mail (i.e messages) itself are being synced between Macs in a different way.
Thanks for any light (or any pointers) you can throw onto this difficult subject.
    Thanks in advance.

I take this question off the forum, although it is not answered.

  • Most current version of Leopard DVD being shipped to stores

    Hi there,
Being a Leopard holdout for quite some time now, knowing that the 10.5.4 update was recently made available, does anyone know what the most current DVD version available for sale happens to be? Has 10.5.3 hit store shelves yet?
Apple's phone sales team weren't quite sure, and the local Apple Store rep whom I spoke with (who, albeit, was rather curt) said that there is no solid way of knowing until the box is opened.
Ideally, this question could best be answered by someone who'd purchased the retail DVD within the past week or so, but any info would help.
    Thanks,
    Steve
PS - forgive the double post, apparently the internet connection at work was doing funky stuff. Already flagged it as a duplicate myself, should be deleted by the moderators.

I don't think the version is irrelevant. ... According to the Apple Store (in the UK at least), the boxed version is 10.5.1 which is not up to date enough for me to risk dodgy upgrades! Now 10.5.4 is out, I was hoping 10.5.2/10.5.3 might be available in the boxed copies!
It's most likely a matter of economics. A new DVD release is expensive, like a new edition of a book, that has been edited or updated. It's possible that one could wait so long that the next major version will come out.
There's an old saying that if you wait for perfection you will wait forever.
There is also no way to know that 10.5.x on a DVD will install any better than 10.5.0 did, on a given computer.
If the latest version is 10.5.1, I would say buy it and update online as others indicated.
I started with 10.5.0 on all three of my Macs and have had zero issues with any of them.
If a machine is properly taken care of and all the software and hardware is Leopard compatible, there is very little chance that anything will go wrong with the installation.
I keep pointing out that there are over 5 million Leopards in the wild, so to speak, and comparatively few posts here with major issues. Most of the solved issues on this board were not Leopard related, but user-related or computer related, as a scan of the last few months of solved posts will clearly show.

  • How can I tell what exactly is being distributed from the SCCM server to a client

    Hi,
If I know an IP Address of a client machine, is there a way I can see what SCCM is exactly sending to that particular machine at that moment in time?
    thanks.

Also, there is no way to see traffic "at that moment in time".
ConfigMgr is just not a "real-time" product.
As Jörgen said the best you can get is to look at the client logs.

  • OK, So What Exactly Is Being Copied/Updated Here?

    Hi,
Since the last time I synced my 32GB iPod Touch, I've added just ONE song to my iTunes library and played a bunch of songs which were already in my library.
I've just synced my iPod Touch now and the message I get (along the top of the iTunes window) is :-
    "Updating Files"........> "Copying 1 of 42"
Why does the iPod not just copy the one song I've added to my library since the previous sync?
Does the iPod also 'update' or 'copy' all the songs I've played via iTunes since the previous sync?
I've only added the one new song, no artwork or lyrics or any other stuff.
Anything I can do to stop the iPod seemingly updating all of the recently played songs? I'm using USB 1.1 so it's pretty slow........
Also, the audio content drops from 10.26GB to 10.10GB and then slowly increases again to 10.26GB by the end of the syncing process......
    Thanks in advance...

Hi, thanks for the replies. Much appreciated!
Neuroanatomist :- I've not adjusted anything related to the songs such as volume/EQ etc. Nor do I have iTunes to automatically get artwork. I will make a note of this point though for next time.
Chris CA :- regarding Smart Playlists, I've just checked the 'recently played' Smart Playlist in my iTunes and it's been updated with all the songs which have been played on my iPod today. So it's syncing from the iPod to iTunes.
It's kind of spooky because I can track what time I set off for work in my car (8.10am) and then what time I arrived at work (8.30am) and any journey during my day when I have the iPod playing!!
Would "manually manage music etc" stop the iPod syncing to update my 'recently played' Smart Playlist iTunes?
If not, I'm going to have to sync regularly so as not to be stuck with a massive sync update from iPod to iTunes.
BTW hope this all makes sense..
    Thanks again.......

  • What to ship today? How to create Packing Slip?

Sales created 20x A/R invoice for today's orders.
    1. For the warehouse who has access to SBO, how do they view what they need to ship today? Is there anyway to display some sort of list what they need to ship today?
    2. Secondly, after I created A/R invoice, how do I create and print Packing Slip? I have browsed SBO documentations, but I didn't find such a thing.
    Please help.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but for your Sales department, they should be creating Sales Orders first then Sales Delivery Order and finally Sales AR Invoice.
This is how SAP B1 can help you track what to ship today. Within each Sales Order, there is a date field for 'estimated delivery date' and for each Sales order your Sales team creates, they can have a estimated delivery date here.
Once that is done, you can either:
    A. Write a query and use that as a report or attach it to the Alert Management to trigger a message to users on what Sales Orders have to be delivered today.
Example Query to show what items from the Sales Order that have to be delivered today
    SELECT T0.DocNum, T0.CardCode, T0.CardName, T1.ItemCode, T1.Dscription, T1.Quantity, T1.ShipDate FROM ORDR T0 INNER JOIN RDR1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry WHERE T1.ShipDate = (CONVERT(CHAR(8),GETDATE(),10)) AND T1.OpenQty <> 0
    B. Use the Open Item report to see which Sales Orders have not been sent out.
When your Sales department creates AR Invoices, SAP B1 will already have deducted the inventory from the warehouse, so there's no such thing as 'what to deliver today'

  • 17" MBP shipping TODAY!!

I just spoke to Apple. It was in reference to the credit on my returned MBP. The rep looked up the warehouse database that shows production. My machine has been built and is being shipped today. (friday, may 5). It is a complely maxed out BTO that I ordered on April 24th!

MS swallow Apple ??? Uhhhh... that was supposed to be a joke right? I don't think there is a chance in H*ll that would happen. Can't really see Apple migrating towards pc components, its just not Apple's philosophy, its always been happy with proprietary, controlled hardware. Many of the issues with Windows stems from MSs' belief that they muct cling to backwards compatibility and having to support sooooo much hardware.
I'd be willing to bet that the majority of us in these forums and MBP owners came to OSX to get away from Windows... Personally I refuse to go back to windows, switched to OSX 4 years ago and have never looked back.
I realize that OSes are like underwear and religion, in the sense that whatever works for you, but not being able to stand OSX? yet here you are in the MBP forums...
That's just strange enough that I had to comment, no need to reply. If you're happy with that OS than great....
As for the original poster's question does everyone use windows, uhh..NO!

  • HT4859 when you go to do this it say that your iPod or whichever device will no longer be backed up to the computer it is currently backed up to, what exactly does that mean? Will i not be able to sync my iPod from that computer?

when you go to do this it say that your iPod or whichever device will no longer be backed up to the computer it is currently backed up to, what exactly does that mean? Will i not be able to sync my iPod from that computer? Please help me and answer either or both question detailed thanks

Normally when you sync your device it is automatically backed up to your computer as the first step in the sync process.  When you choose to start backing up your device to iCloud, iTunes stops automatically backing it up on your computer when you sync.  That's what the message is telling your; that you are now backing up to iCloud and not to your computer each time you sync.  You can still manually back up to your computer any time you want by going to the Summary tab and clicking on Back Up Now under Manually Back Up and Restore.
You can still sync your device as you did before, it just will no longer back up automatically when you do.

  • What is the stock drive that is being shipped in the 17"mbp?

what is the stock HD that is being shipped in the new unibody macbook pro. 320 5400rpm and if anyone knows about he 320 7200rpm that would be great as well. the apple site doesn't specify..

    Hi apollo,
If you have a 17" MBP you can find out which drive is being used through the System Profiler.
Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info (Launches System Profiler)
Click on Serial-ATA on the left, and you will see your HD and your Optical Drive listed. The HD should have a manufacturer as well as a model number. If you plug that into Google it will tell you what drive it is.

  • Chances of it being delivered today?

    Hello people!
Just wondered, what are the chances of the iPod touch I ordered yesterday being delivered today?
I ordered it yesterday, at 9:30PM yesterday I got the Shipment Notification email.
All the shipment information says at the moment is
Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 05 Oct 2010 (Subject to change)
Current Delivery Status Shipment dispatched 04 Oct 2010
I've also tried to track it by TNT's website but to no avail.
    Your PO Number
    W2****96
    Our Delivery Reference Number
    81****82
    Carrier Tracking Number
    81****82
    Assigned Carrier
    TNT
Both Our Delivery Reference Number & Carrier Tracking Number are the same.
Anyone know the chances of it being delivered today? Is it worth staying in?
    Thanks

But Apple policy seems to be, as I said, accidental damage like dropping voids the warraty on the entire iPod.
Yes I did read that wahy I said what I said. I said
"Such dropping voids the warranty on the entire iPod"

  • Backup flash restore what exactly

I think I've missed something. Over the last couple of weeks my N900 was sluggish, ignore calls, not able to call etc so I decided to backup and flash it. After that I restored the backup. This left me with an unrecognizable device. It looks like backup and restore does virtually nothing. no settings are restored. For starters the desktop is void. The desktop background image is gone, the alarms are gone. None of the installed applications are restored.
So that leaves me: what exactly is backuped up and restored.?

wow...small backups.  i actually REALLY use my device.
btw...i was ssh into my device and copying a folder from my device to my pc, sms, sending/recieving email and also sent the above screenshot via bluetooth to my pc all at the same time!
try to do that with something else other then a nokia....fu-get-uh-bout-it!
ok, so HERE is a copy of my basic starter that i give anyone that gets a new n900 to start with.  it was created a while ago, includes no contact/calendar/email data, only the repos and basic starter apps that make the device better.  i cannot remember if it includes the cSSU or not....maybe i should create a new one.
but...none the less, there it is.
the back up you create on your device should back everything up that is pertaining to the original functioning of the device...meaning, that if you want to have an application data backed up, you should not rely on the device backup to include that data as the backup function will not grab it.
so the best thing to do is to either ssh and copy the entire root folder to your pc, or you can use filebox and copy only the few folders that contain the data over to a memory card and then place them back after the restore.
HERE is how to back up l337 wise.
this is what is being saved in the general backup:
    The Backup application will save:
Communication and Calendar: Stored conversations, accounts, contacts, and calendar entries. Only applies to content used with stock applications. (i.e. not Pidgin, or other third-party applications)
Bookmarks: Bookmarks stored via MicroB. (Default browser only)
Settings: Your current settings in the Settings "application." (Settings in /home/user, GConf, /etc.) Third party settings applets will also be backed up and restored once installed. Manually created shell scripts or other files (except those in eMMC/MyDocs) must be manually backed up prior to a rootfs flash.
Application List: A list of repositories and installed applications to be re-activated and installed after flashing. (Only applies to applications and repositories installed via the included Application Manager)

    Hi,
Deliver Documents due for Delivery and Display Deliveries
    Title
    Documents due for delivery.
    User-specific settings
    New functions in Release 4.6C
    New functions in Release 4.6A.
    Purpose
Documents are selected according to specific criteria.
They are used for processing orders that are due for delivery.
    Deliveries can also be selected.
These can be deliveries that already exist for the sales orders
and/or deliveries that were selected using other criteria. This is an independent transaction and can be executed without the sales order or purchase orders.
Documents (such as sales orders or purchase orders) are analyzed or delivered after their planned delivery creation time.
The analysis creates an overview of the upcoming shipping workload and allows you to change the planned outbound delivery situation manually in the selected delivery list. You can use this function for the following procedures, for example:
Manual selection of documents due for delivery from a larger delivery list
Manual specification of the actual quantities to be delivered (scheduling agreement item, for instance)
Introductory phase for setting automated creation of outbound deliveries
Collective delivery of multiple documents in one processing step is especially useful if:
Delivery occurs regularly in the background. You can define rules for this delivery in a list profile. The system then works through these rules at regular intervals.
If more time passes between the initial transaction (sales order, purchase order) and the actual outbound delivery (picking, shipment completion) than is necessary for picking and transportation planning
if several orders for one ship-to party should be put together in one delivery.
    Integration
Delivery of documents (orders) via the delivery list is integrated in the following Logistics supply chains:
Sales order - Delivery - Picking - Shipment - Billing document
    Purchase order - Delivery - Picking - Shipment - Billing document/ Self-billing
Creation of the outbound delivery is the central element for outbound shipment of goods and services.
    Prerequisites
All documents that are planned for delivery are taken into account. In other words, a delivery list is created. In Release 4.6A, these documents are either sales orders or purchase orders.
For sales orders, for example, the availability check must have confirmed a quantity and the conditions for creation of the delivery list must also be met.
    Selection
Select the delivery list according to the criteria of your choice.
The user role (list profile) dictates which of the selection criteria is active. As an example, selection criteria that is only relevant for purchase orders is only available for entry when purchase orders are to be selected.
    Validity of selection criteria
The general selection criteria (tab page General data) restricts the number of sales orders and purchase orders found.
The selection criteria for sales orders (tab page sales orders) restricts the number of sales orders found.
The selection criteria for purchase orders (tab page purchase orders) restricts the number of purchase orders found.
The selection criteria for deliveries (1 or 3 tab pages deliveries) restricts the number of deliveries used. Note that selecting deliveries for the sales orders is automatically activated via the switch Selection in the user role (list profile) tab page. This procedure is maintained for reasons of upward compatibility. You therefore, have the option of making entries in the deliveries tab page. You can deactivate automatic selection of deliveries to the sales orders (No Deliveries to Predecessor) and include additional deliveries in the list (CompleteDeliveries). You can add a maximum of 3 further selection criteria to the deliveries, for example: delivery header, delivery status, delivery item, group of deliveries or a shipment.
Selecting by material (tab page Material) restricts the sales orders and purchase orders.
Selecting by partner (tab page Partner) restricts the sales orders and deliveries.
The user role details apply for the whole transaction and are used as control parameters in the process context.
The delivery creation date selection criterion limits the documents due for delivery according to the date on which they are planned for delivery.
This planning is a result of delivery scheduling when the sales order or purchase order was processed.
When this transaction is called up, the selection date is a default value calculated according to a rule that was specified</ in Customizing in a user role list profile.
Use the smallest possible interval in performance-critical systems.
In performance-critical systems, make sure that the fewest possible documents overdue for delivery exist in the system. For sales orders, you can process overdue documents in the sales menu environment.
You can use selection criteria on the schedule line level (goods issue time, route schedule, planned delivery creation time) to:
Find documents that contain items with schedule lines to which the criteria apply
Calculate the quantity default for the delivery quantity by using only the schedule lines that match the selection criteria. Completion of the order item always occurs for the oldest open schedule line.
    Standard Variants
Standard variants for selection are implemented using delivery scenarios (different call-up methods for selection screen) and list profiles (entry in sub-screen of list profile selection screen).
    Output
Depending on the F code profile specification one of the following occurs in the list profile:
A list of all documents due for delivery appears or is printed
Documents due for delivery are delivered immediately. In other words, the delivery is created and the subseuqent activities (output, picking, statistics, batch determination,...) are triggered in the system.
    Activities
For daily use, choose the desired selection criteria for your delivery scenario.
For specific list output requirements, change the list profile entries as necessary. You are advised to do this in the test system. You should only use tested user roles in the productive system, that no longer allow you to override the user role entries in the selection screen. In Customizing for the scenario (transaction VL10CUV) you can set whether the default user role for the scenario my be replaced in the selection screen. If you carrry out this task as a system adminstrator with Customizing authorization, you can enter in the user role (transaction VL10CUA) whether the user role entries may be overwritten in the selection screen. Use these options in the test system and set up roles and report variants for each user that requires these for his daily work. However, do not allow the user role attributes to be overwritten in the selection screen during day-to-day operations.
You can predefine specific values and selection criteria in the user role attributes for each user in every scenario.
For more information see: user-specific settings.
Automatic processing of the delivery list
In the implementation phase of automatic processing of the delivery list (automatic creation of deliveries via scheduling in a background program: batch job), it is advisable to override the list profile settings in the selection screen. Vary the entries until the list display (with subsequent delivery in the background and no other list modifications) results on delivery of the desired part of the delivery list.
Choose an F code profile for displaying the delivery list in the list profile.
Once you know all the required list profile parameters from the entries, define a corresponding list profile in Customizing. After testing the list output, if you are sure that the correct part of the list is delivered, assign an F code profile for background processing to the list profile.
Create a selection varaint for this selection report with the corresponding list profile (on the selection screen, choose Goto -> Variants -> Save as a variant).
Schedule this selection report using the menu for background processing.
    Customizing
    Delivery scenario
The delivery scenarios predefined in the system can be found under Logistics Execution ->  Goods issue process -> Outbound deliveries -> Create -> Collective processing of documents due for delivery. A list profile can be assigned for each delivery scenario in Customizing. This determines processing of the delivery due list in detail. It also specifies the selection screen display, in particular whenther tab strips are used and if so, how many.
    List profile
The list profile is found using the delivery scenario and can be changed manually in the selection screen for documents due for shipping or individual attributes can be overwritten.
    User-specific default scenario
You can enter a default delivery scenario and a default list profile for each user, that is called up from the menu or via transaction VL10. Set the user parameters LE_VL10_SZENARIO and LE_VL10_PROFIL.

  • I have a Bootcamp partition on  my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do?

I have a Bootcamp partition on my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout in Disk Utility is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do? I was trying to install Windows 8.1 but apparently, this is not yet possible.
I was originally able to restore to my original Mac OSX partition using Boot Camp Assistant but then after entering Disk Utility and re-RAIDing the default RAID 1 to RAID 0 in the BootCamp partition (I suspect this is the cause of the problem but why was it defaulted to RAID 1 in the first place?!!!!), forever afterwards, I couldn't restore the single OSX partition.
Whenever I used BootCamp Assistant my choice to 'Install or remove Windows 7 or later version' was greyed out. Finally I went to Disk Utility to repartition but the Macintosh HD and BootCamp disk partition functions were also greyed out (even if I started up from Recovery mode holding down option, command and 'R' and choosing Disk Utility). BootCamp Assistant gives the error message 'The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition' with additional small script 'The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows', and DU gives the error message 'The full size of the Fusion drive is not available for repartitioning'.
What can I do to fix this problem? How can I make the Partition Layout button active in DU so I can change the partition to all OSX? I'm prepared to wipe off all my data etc to repartition and have backed up all to disk using Time Machine.

My problem is fixed now, thank you. It was caused by my changing the Boot Camp partition's 'RAID1' to 'RAID0'. If I hadn't done that, Boot Camp would still have been able to 'restore' back to the one partition. It was fixed with the help of Applecare by using a terminal and typing a command to erase the IP of the Macintosh disk (not the volume) as well as the IP of the Bootcamp partition (if I remember correctly), but then I had to restore the OS and all my applications and data etc which I had previously backed up using Time Machine. I haven't taken note of the exact command terminology used. It would be wise to speak to Applecare about this if possible.
Two words of warning, 1. According to the cause of this problem, it might be wise, after reinstalling the ops system to reinstall all extra applications one by one, manually, in case a similar problem arises again. Then manually copy back all data. Or the Mac user could use the Time Machine backup and then uninstall all the added apps then re-install them one by one manually. 2. Beware as after all this the user might not have the 'Recovery partition'. There is a small recovery partition (a few 100 Mb is size) which comes with all later Macs. After all this is done this tiny partition might not be there anymore and the user might have to re-install Mavericks again to get it back, or just install the upcoming update of Mavericks due in a month or so.
