Current song small display

Upgraded to 12 and now I cannot see how to get back the small display that shows the current song/artist.  Used to be able to put it in the corner, out of the way, so I could see what song was on while working on other stuff on my desktop.  Do not see how to get that back.  Is it gone?
Thanks.

You can also open the MiniPlayer by clicking the artwork in the top central status area.
You close the MiniPlayer by clicking the small X at the top left.
The tool below that shows or hides artwork.

  • Itunes 11 "go to current song" not working?

New layout in "albums" is cool.  However I want to let iTunes shuffle my library while I'm working with other things, and I expect iTunes should "go to current song" to display the album song list (and artwork) in which it's playing.
Now I have to press "command-L" to do that for each song, very annoying and unproductive.
Any things can do so that iTunes 11 will auto switch the display to the "current song"?

Found it. Right click on the up next menu to the right of the song name in the player window and select "Show in Playlist.

  • In album view automatically display current song

    itunes 11.0.5.5
in album view as songs are shuffled,  is there a way you can configure so that as the next song is played, the album view is updated to display the current song being played?
right now, it does not update at it moves to play the next in the shuffle queue.

    Thanks for you help turingtest2.
I have searced for that file and I get it twice in the same folder.  one of the files has a date stamp appended to it 2013-01-25 (todays date).
I copied both files to another folder and moved the album artwork folder to the same folder.
I then restarted itunes.  I did not have to request any artwork and the original artwork was still there (incorrectly).  It did not seem like anything was downloaded as itunes opened quick and when i selected album view it went to there without delay automatically with the artwork there.
The album artwork folder was recreated in the itunes folder.
I did a search for the *.itc files and it seems the old moved album artwork folder contained may more *.itc files than were recreated in "recreated" album artwork folder.  Not sure if that means anything.
    Hmmm.

  • ITunes 10.4.1 Problem with Key Command Go to Current Song - Doesn't always work

Since updating to iTunes 10.4.1, I've noticed that the key command, command + L doesn't always work to display the current song.

I have this problem in iTunes 10.7 (21). The "Go to Current Song" option exists in the Controls menu, but even when audio is playing it is disabled.

  • Go to current song

Why can I not 'go to current song' in a smart playlist anymore? Also why has the total amount of songs/time display gone?

Hmmmm. There does seem to a bug here.
If I have the Side Bar showing and start a playlist, then the CMD-L doesn't work properly. But if I turn the Sidebar off and use the PLAYLISTS pane, then it does work.
I have complained (a lot !!) to Apple about the obvious sloppy testing of this release. There are many examples of a lack of uniformity which need to be addressed and the only way to get them fixed properly is tell Apple about them.

  • Go to current song in itunes

The "Go to current song" no longer appears in the View menu.  There appears to be no way to go to the song that is currently playing.  Did Apple move this feature or get rid of it?  Any ideas?
    Thanks!

It is in the Controls menu.
Also, you can click the back arrow on the right side of the LCD Info display (top center of iTunes).

  • Go to current song (command L) is not working in itunes 11

Go to current song (command L) is not working in itunes 11, anyone having the same issue?

    Thanks for figuring that out.
I thought that command-L was working when I first switched to iTunes 11, but then it wasn't working anymore. That's the ticket: I changed the display to show the sidebar.
Still, I'd like to be able to use the command-L feature whether I'm showing the sidebar or not.
I'd also like it if iTunes would keep showing the currently playing song when in Grid or Artist view modes. It doesn't, so I have to keep using command-L to see the current song info.

  • Is "Go to Current Song" supposed to flash the song?

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.4 about a week ago, whenever I use "Go to Current Song", iTunes jumps to the current song and then flashes it (the background color changes from blue to gray and back a few times). It didn't do this before iTunes 10.4.
Does it happen to everyone else? Is this supposed to happen? Is there any way to disable it? It is annoying; I preferred the old way, especially since now, after the song flashes, it will sometimes have a blue background and sometimes a gray one, so it isn't even consistent with its design.

    Thanks for figuring that out.

  • "Current Song" Ideal for Update

I wasn't sure where to post this but for the future updates of itunes I think it'd be a good option to include to have the current song playing listed on the top dock bar (where File,Edit etc. are) It would be cool if it stayed up there on all windows (like how the battery meter for the macbooks does) but it would be just as helpful to have on only the itunes one. Because I like to minimize my windows a lot and in order to see what the song title is that is playing currently I have to go click it all the time and that can get annoying after a while. where as if it was on the top dock I could just command+tab to the itunes program and see it (this wont bring up any windows for the program that you "highlight" that you have minimized so it currently is useless for minimized programs)

Do you know about the Zoom command for your iTunes window? It's in the Window menu, and creates a tiny iTunes controller that displays the currently playing track.

  • "Go to current song" doesn't work

"Go to current song" (cmd + L) doesn't work.

  • How to view current song in MiniPlayer?

How do you see the name of the current song that's playing when in MiniPlayer mode? If I click the button to show the "up next" list, it shows the songs that are coming up next (obviously) but how do I see the name of the current song? More importantly, why isn't the currently-playing track at the top of the "up next" list shown in some kind of different shading to give an indication that there's something different about it?
I'm pleased that there is now only one button click required to get between the main window and the MiniPlayer, so that's an improvement at least. But why there's no way to see the name of the current song I don't quite understand. It's unfathomable, really. I know it's only 11.0, so perhaps this slipped off the radar, but seems like a very obvious thing to leave out, IMHO.

For me, in System Preferences -> Keyboard, I had "All controls" selected at the bottom of the "Keyboard Shortcuts" tab, instead of "Text boxes and lists only". As a result, whenever I activated the MiniPlayer, it had one of the control buttons already highlighted (generally, the Rewind button).
iTunes behaves as if the mouse is hovering over the player in response. The solution I originally found in this thread (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20438584#20438584) was to just press Tab a few times, until the Playback controls weren't highlighted, and the track info appeared. The other option is just to turn off "All controls" tabbing in the Keyboard Preferences, though this will require you to restart iTunes to get the MiniPlayer to behave properly (otherwise, some other function will be highlighted, and the space bar won't work for Pause and Play).
    Hope this helps.

  • Select a song to play next (after current song)

I love iTunes, but for me it's just missing one thing....
I can't (at least I don't know how) select a certain song from my playlist to play AFTER the current song is finished... If it would have that function, or a way to do this, it would be ALL I need for a music player.
Is there a way in iTunes to select the song to play next?
And/or arrange your playlist in the way (the order of songs) you want?

*Is there a way in iTunes to select the song to play next?*
iTunes doesn't have the "queuing" option you describe (except within the Party shuffle function which queues songs and within which you can drag songs into order). If you'd like to see an option like this in some futer version of iTunes you can send feedback/feature requests directly to Apple at this link: Apple Product Feedback
*And/or arrange your playlist in the way (the order of songs) you want?*
Open the playlist and click on the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move, hold down the mouse button and drag the song to where you want it to be. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.

  • On current song/podcast I can no longer see or adjust which point in the song I can go to. How do I fix?

I used to be able to go back 30 seconds in a podcast as well as see current time elapsed and remaining. I don't see this at all in current songs or podcasts playing. How do I see this again so I can go back or forward within a song or podcast?

Never mind. I'm an idiot. All I need to do is tap the screen.

  • HT1202 I currently have a 4g iPod loaded music from my own cd's through iTunes on computer I no longer have.  Now would like to add new songs but do not want to lose current songs. How do I do this help!

Currently need help to load additional songs on my iPod without losing current songs that were load from my own cd's through iTunes year ago on computer I do not have therefore songs are not on my current computer   I would like to up load from this devise to current computer &add additional songs. Through purchase & my cd collection without losing current iPod songs.   Please help

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
