Current version of itunes cant read my library

my library was created then i updated itunes. for reasons i wont go into i had to uninstall itunes and reinstall it with my original disk now i cant open itunes because it says the library was created by a more recent version of itunes, please help will i have to download the most recent itunes and pay for it???

I had the same problem when I went from 7.4.2 to 7.3.2. Before you try opening itunes again, go into the itunes folder and try moving the library file out onto your desktop or somewhere else - it's called 'itunes library.itl.' There is also an itunes music library.xml file; you can just leave that there. Then look for the 'previous itunes libraries' folder, move the file in there to your itunes folder, and rename it to 'itunes library' (or itunes library.itl).
When you open itunes again you should see all your songs & playlists. If not, you might have to reimport all your music, but you shouldn't have to buy any songs again. I just went to File>add folder to library and added my 'my music' folder it just takes awhile if you have to do this and you have to rebuild your playlists.

because you do not have a 3rd generation device. The OS Version says so , otherwise you would be at 4.3.5 minimum and also Itunes is also always correct in determining if you have the latest OS ( if not it fetches the newest from Apple's Servers ) . And because a 2nd generation iPod stops at 4.2.1 you can't get the newest OS, because your device is old. Buy a new iPod , they have iOS5 preinstalled.

HT1751 I can't find File-Library-Organize on the current version of ITunes. Where is it?

I switched to a different User on Windows 7 and lost most of my Itunes music. I found an option for Itunes to find the lost music. This seemed to work great. All my playlists came back. However, today I learned that it kept all the found music in the other library on a different drive. So, I want to merge this other library into my main one. All the online methods use an option under "File" which does not seem to exist any more.
I have checked the option to consolidate my music but it did not work for the "find lost music" process.
Can anyone help with the current version of Itunes? Or, like the backup, has Apple removed another essential ability?

In iTunes 11, the File menu is on the Menu Bar. If you don't see the Menu Bar, enable it by using the shortcut CTRL+B.

I have iPhone 4 with newest update and Mac laptop with Snow Leopard and current version of iTunes. When I hook the phone up via USB, iPhoto pops open and reads the pictures for import, but iTunes doesn't do anything. Not seeing the device as a USB, either

Sorry, thought that was the body of the question, so the title is long. When I plug in my iPhone 4 (newest update) into my Mac laptop (current version of iTunes, Snow Leopard), it does not read the music, apps, etc., or open iTunes at all. It syncs the pictures, but it doesn't not show as a USB device, either. I have gone through the Troubleshooting assistant, restarting both comp and laptop, using different USB ports, etc. If it is of note, when I look at the option to Sync through Wifi on the phone, it says that sync will happen when my computer (by name) is "available." Not sure if this is a phone issue or laptop, leaning towards laptop, since iPhoto syncs. Willing to buy Lion if that will fix the problem! I would appreciate any help that is given.

You have written a very long story, and I admit I have skipped most of it. But I think the question is you are on iOS 7, and cannot get the latest version of iTunes (11.1.5) on your computer because your OS X is too old.
The fact that you chose not to update your hardware does not mean you could not update your software!
OS X 10.5 is very old (about four years). iTunes 11.1.5 (current version) requires at least OS X 10.6.8 to run. Very likely, you could upgrade your computer's software to at least OS X 10.6.8 and then download the current iTunes on it.

Hi, I get the same error EVERY time iTunes updates.
I have to do the fix that is suggested in this topic (cut and paste the sqlite3.dll)
My Question:
Since this happens every time iTunes updates...... Do I have to remove SQlite3.dll from the "apple application support" folder....... so that the sqlite3.dll is only located in the "mobile device support" folder?????
It is getting really annoying to have to do the "cut and paste" fix every time iTunes updates.

Cant sync new iPhone4S with current version of iTunes (10.6.3)

Trying to sync new Iphone4S with an older Mac (OS X 10.5.8) to pull music and photos from Mac. When i plug in IPhone to the Mac, it says I need to update to iTunes (currently version 10.6.3) 11.1 or higher, but my Mac cant update to iTunes 11. Any suggestions?

Your Mac is running an operating system version that is now four versions old. Leopard (OS X 10.5) was released in October, 2007.
At a minimum, you must purchase the next version (Snow Leopard, which came out in 2008) and update it to version 10.6.8 to install the current version of iTunes.

I am so sorry I am frustrating you. This is the first time I have used this community and am leanring as I go. I am not able to see the entire post that you leave, unless I look at it on my phone (email)--I am so sorry. You have no idea how much i appreciate your help. Yes, I see that I can get the later version of OS software, but its not availabe for immediate download. My only options appear to be having it shipped, or going to the store to purchase. I am in the same boat. I tried repeatedly to contact iTunes support, but was told each time that I had contacted the wrong deaprtment and they could not help me. There must be a way to still be able to use the iTunes store without paying for a system update. If not, I hope they will reimburse me the money I have in my acount.

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

But if that is a MacBook (intel) you may be able to

Can't install the current version of iTunes

I have itunes 8 installed. I successfully downloaded the current version of iTunes (I downloaded it using Firefox and IE - not sure what version, but it's a later version) and attempted to install it, I got this error message:

Whatever it had installed up to that point, it proceeded to uninstall. And, now, I cannot even use the iTunes that was already installed as it says: *"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."*
Can anyone help me? I have been having problems with my computer. I'm using Vista and have been having crashing problems and Windows updates have not been able to install. I know I need to contact Microsoft, or Dell, again (yes, they have not been able to help me) - could that be why I'm having problems installing iTunes? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

That's good news. How did you back it up? Did you save the entire itunes folder? Or just the itunes music subfolder?

About the authorization, you have just lost one authorization, since that Vista system is gone.
Once you reach 5 auths, you can do a deauthorize all. My work PC got upgraded while I was on vacation one year and I lost an auth that way. Since I am only up to 4 machines, I don't worry about it.

I am having the same problem "iTunes cannot read my library", after getting a new iMac and transferring all of my data to the new computer. I have Leopard, but it is 10.4.10, not 10.5. It's quite frustrating. I tried your suggestion of launching iTunes from almost anywhere but it didn't work. Anyone else having the same problem? Or have any other ideas? Thanks.
