Currently stuck with a locked iPhone because of Applecare

I have an iPhone 3GS that is a replacement phone provided by Applecare warranty when my original iPhone 3GS seriously overheated and met an early demise. The original iphone when it was replaced by Applecare was already out of contract (as it was replaced on the AT&T contract by a new iPhone 4).
Last month I submitted a request to AT&T to unlock my 3GS as it predessor had completed the stipulations of the contract.  However my request was denied by AT&T because they show no record of my replacement phone's IMEI number in their system...they only have the original (the one that Apple took possession when they replaced it with my currrent locked 3GS).
I was informed by an AT&T supervisor that I under their policy they cannnot unlock the replacement 3GS because that specific phone did not meet the terms of the contract.  They could however unlock my original iPhone, which is of no use since it's dead and now Apple's.
Does anyone have any suggestions on anyone that I could turn to for help on this?
Thanks in advance...

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I went in an Apple Store in Italy and they unlocked my locked iPhone in only 2 days, and I have not to pay for this. Thanks  to the Genius Bar guy of tha Carosello Apple Store in Carugate, Italy, for his help. I love Apple forever!

  • Can Apple make an app or an update that makes you insert your password to turn your phone off? This can help deal with theft of iPhones because people take or find a iPhone, the first thing they do is turn the phone off.

They probably can do such s thing if they choose to do so.
Let them know that you would like this:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
Not sure this is a very useful thing.  It would run down the battery.  All a thief has to do is remove them SIM and restore the iphone to stop it from being tracked.

How can I get a sim card for Japan and will it work with my locked Iphone 6

You cannot use a SIM card on a carrier locaked phone, other than a sim from the carrier the phone is locked to. You must first get the carrier it is locked to, to unlock your phone. Apple does not unlock phones.

  • Stuck with query on dba_tab_partitions because of long .

    Hi,
I'm trying to dynamically generate split partition sql but stuck with error ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got LONG.
    Here is my code.
    select 'alter table ' || table_owner || '.' || table_name || ' split partition P_MAX at ' || high_value
    from (
select rownum rnum, t.* from (
        select t.* from dba_tab_partitions t where t.table_owner = 'TEK' and t.table_name = 'TAB' order by t.partition_position desc
                    ) t
    where rnum between 2 and 5 and (num_rows != 0 or empty_blocks != 16383);Basically I'm trying to generate new partition with high_value = high_value + 3000 .
That long is really annoying .
    My DB is 9.2.0.8 .
    Regards.
    Greg

Not sure if this is the best way, but I think it'll work:
create a dummy table that holds the data of dba_tab_partitions but using to_lob(high_value) as high_value.
then issue your select from this dummy table using to_number(high_value)
    Hope this helps.

  • My iphone is stuck on the lock screen because of switch control

i turned switch control on for my iphone and now i cant even unlock it because when i touch the screen the red bar just movues to the left and keeps going from left to right it doesnt give me any options when i touch the screen. i already tried turning it off and on.

I had the same situation with my iPod touch 5th gen. You can manually reboot it thru pressing sleep/wake button and holding it up to 10 secs - no data will be lost.. This didn't work in mine, but to some it did..
If it won't work, you could do what I did which is I reset all settings in the Reset part. It won't lose any data, just the settings (if you have just less settings did to the device, which I had). So just configure or tweak things again in the settings when it reset again.
    Hope this somehow helps!

  • How do I get past the password prompt with a locked iPhone?

I updated to iOS7, and everything seemed fine. But then when the phone locked after a few minutes, it asked me for a password to unlock. I never used a password before. So the  phone is asking me for something I didn't have to do before. Now the phone remains in a locked state.
I tried my Apple ID password, 0000, 1234, last four of my phone number, last 4 of my SSN, and nothing works. Has anyone else encountered this?
The ultimate solution is to restore the phone to factory settings using iTunes, but that is pretty drastic, and besides, there is another little quirk about my phone that makes it not so easy -- I can't turn the phone off. The button on the top no longer works. I've learned to deal with that by just setting the phone to blank out after a minute, and of course when the new phone becomes available, I'm going to buy it, but in the meantime, the only way to turn the phone off is to let the battery discharge. So in order to restore to factory settings, I also have to let the phone discharge.

Yes, I have the same problem! It is driving me crazy as I don't have a clue what code they want me to put in and now everytime I try a new one my phone is disabled and I have to wait half an hour until I can try another one! It's ridiculous!!!
I am praying that someone finds a solution soon!!!

  • My unlocked iphone has been replaced with a locked iphone

I purchased 2 iphone 5C 32Gb in September, one for me, the other for my wife. They were purchased via an online retailer, but both have had problems and i contacted support via chat, however they problems could not be resolved so I booked a genius slot at the nearest Apple Store (Reading UK).
It was agreed that both iphones required replacement, however they were not UK models and therefore had to be ordered in.
Earlier this week i received a call to say they were ready for collection and i took time off work to travel to  the store (1 1/2 hour away) yesterday.
Both phones were replaced ad the SIM cards swapped.
One iphone worked straight away, however the other will not activate stating: SIM NOT VALID
I was informed that it sometimes takes time to be able to activate; so after 2 hours of trying in the Store I was assured this was temporary and would be able to activate within a few hours.
it is well over 30 hours and after contacting chat support, who put me on to phone support, who escalated it, it would appear that this phone is locked to an Australian network.
The phone support also had no record of this replacement iphone as the replacement was not identified on the genius bar work confirmation email and ther is no record of where it was purchased (I only have the imei number on the back of the phone to go by)
The original iphone was unlocked from new, however this replacement is locked.
My wife has been without her phone for nearly two weeks now, and I am no where nearer getting this resolved....
I have no idea what network it is locked to....
What are my options?????? It would appear that i am going to have to purchase a new phone as it is needed for work next week.
Feeling very let down by apple support at the moment, and am considering returning the 3 ipads i purchased last saturday for my children for xmas as I am not convinced that I will receive adequate support if anything goes wrong.
Any ideas on how to get this resolved would be gratefully received.

Purchased from an "online retailer"? Which online retailer?
If that online retailer was NOT Apple, then there is a very, very good chance that you did NOT purchase an unlocked iPhone.

  • Currently stuck with 10.5.8... help!

Hi! I currently have 10.5.8 on my computer. The automatic updates has stopped providing me updates. How do I get the newest software? I need this because the newest itunes won't install until the computer has the most up to date software. Help please!

    Need Itunes,
you’ll need to purchase the white retail Snow Leopard DVD, install it, and then run Software Update to get it to 10.6.8. Once there, you can choose to download Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks from the Mac App Store. (Mavericks is gratis; the other two aren’t.) I think that 10.6.8 will be new enough to get the latest version of iTunes.

  • I tried restoring my iphone and is now stuck with the "connect iphone to itunes" screen

it has "extracted data" and everything a couple times now, and itunes will recognize the iphone as a device, but nothing further. how do i fix this?

A good quick try is holding down the power and home buttons together and doing a soft reset and try it again.

  • Updated Apple software iPhone driver, still stuck with my bricked iPhone!

I downloaded the newly released driver from apple this morning, it didn't help at all! HELP!!!!!!!!!

    Hey BuePod,
    What the guy meant my "...kick the iphone out of recovery mode..." please read below & I had included a link below to his comments;
"To kick the iPhone out of recovery mode following the downgrade you’ll also require Umbrella, handy little app which you can obtain from my site here (Umbrella-4.00.80.zip) or direct from the authors iPhone firmware site. I didn’t allow it access through my firewall (tries to save SHSH blobs, by design, on a remote server – not required to kick out of Recovery Mode). This simple app has the advantages of not requiring additional DLLs or other files installing, functions on x32 and x64 systems and not attempting to do anything untoward to your system."

  • IPhone 4 factory unlocked replaced in USA. Will Apple replace it with a locked one?

    Hey guys,
I bought my girlfriend a factory unlocked iPhone 4 from Canada for Christmas last year and few days ago somehow her phone won't charge anymore. I told her to try and get it checked out by an Apple specialist. She ended up sending the phone over to an Apple Care Center in her local area (MI), got an email in return showing her the progress status and all. Much to our surprise, Apple replaced her with a brand new iPhone 4 within 24 hours.
Here's the problem. She just tried to get it set up but the phone says no service and she can't hook it up to her iTunes to activate anything. She called up Apple again and their suggestion was to get her to download the latest iTunes and to try syncing it again. She just did that and it still doesn't work. My suspicion right now is the local center might have replaced her with a locked phone 4 but then again, i'm not familiar with the whole carrier locking system in the US so i'm not entirely sure if i'm right.
Any suggestions or help would greatly be appreciated. Anyone ever experienced the same problem or know for sure that she has been replaced with a locked iPhone 4?

Do you have receipt that you bought your previous phone in Canada? If so, go back to apple store in Michigan, and perhaps they will replace it. Otherwise, you pro ably should have returned it to the store in Canada. You best bet is to call apple and see if they can come up with a solution.

I am trying to restore my daughters iPhone because she forgot her passcode.  I'm stuck because iTunes is telling me to turn off Find my iPhone in iCloud settings but I can't do that because the phone is locked.  HELP!

iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone - Support - Apple
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud). If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device.
Click Erase device, then enter your Apple ID password. Because the device isn’t lost, don’t enter a phone number or message. If the device is offline, the remote erase begins the next time it’s online. You’ll receive an email when the device is erased.
When the device is erased, click Remove from Account. All your content is erased and someone else can now activate the device.

    Hi,
For no apparent reason my phone stopped working...so I did a reset and got the message 'Restore Needed'. I connected to iTunes and got this message: 'iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on your iPhone before it can be used with iTunes'.
The problem is, I can't enter my passcode because I'm not given that option on the iPhone. All I seem to be able to do is make an emergency call.
It's been working fine otherwise. Any suggestions?
This is the SECOND replacement iPhone I've had this week and I'm getting a bit fed up.
Thanks in advance for any help,

Are you referring to the 4 digit passcode needed to enter the phone and use it's features?
If so reboot your iPhone and enter the passcode to get it operational.  Launch Image Capture on the Mac and connect the iPhone.  Now you should be able to download the video files to wherever you want on your hard drive.
