Curreny Translation

Hello Everybody ,
We  have already implemented SEM-BCS.  The reporting with SAP SEM-BCS permits only an evaluation on  BU level. Therefore, it was decided to develop a MIS-reporting based on SAP BW.
The MIS-reporting shall be used by all Legal Entities already using  (SAP R/3). The following reports will be implemented:
ð  Balance Sheet
ð  P&L (profit & lost)
All the reports are supposed to be very flexibly according to the reporting requirements of the controllers. Therefore, the reports will provide report views based on a combination of segment, BU, Profit centers and Legal Entities.
We are using the same infoobjects from SEM-BCS for our MIS data Model which will also act as data stream for BCS afterwardsl. The datasource is providing just local currency but we want to have a group currency as well. Following is  my doubts
How we can do the currency translation to get values in group currency ?Can we use settings done in  our SEM-BCS to get GC in our MIS model. Is that possible?? Or  we  need to create a seprate SEM-BCS databasis for MIS Curreny translation....
Cant we go  for normal currency translation for MIS   reporting rather going for BCS logic??
How can we achive GC for our MIS reporitng
Thanks in advance
Waiting for your kind replies
Atul

Hi Atul,
I quess that MIS stands for Management Information System, right?
I'll describe shortly the typical situation I met many times already.
The central BW-instance of the holding is loaded with the data of its companies (many views, dimensions, profit centers, BU etc.). Reports generated on this basis (B/S & P&L of the companies, different operational management reports, budget appropriation etc. -- most likely everything in local currency) are used by FinController and his/her folks for controlling the life of the separate parts of the holding and checking the consistency of data.
This is data as they were submitted (and modified if aneeded) by the companies.
Having been checked (and cleansed) this data is coming to the staging cube in BW. This cube is used by SEM-BCS for reading data from datastream. As Dan mentioned, in BCS you may set up the currency translation and get consolidated reports in GC.
Management reports might be built upon both, original data BW cube, and virtual totals BCS cube. Everything depends on the nature of reports: some of them supposed to be consolidated, some - not.
Moreover, non-consolidated reports you may generate in GC using different methods for currency translation provided by BW.

    Hi,
In my cube I have two Key figures, One with Unit/Currency 0LOC_CURRENCY & one with 0DOC_CURRENCY.
My reporting requirement is I need a user entry variable on Currency in Variable screen,So that user selects USD and executes the report all the currencies in the report should be conversted to USDu2026
    How can I achieve this
    Thanks

    1. Ensure that your curreny translation or should i say currency conversion is updated in table TCURR. Ie the exchange rates are updated.
    2. Make a varialble in RSCUR which tells you at which rate and considering which timeperiod you have to exchange.
    3. Select the variable/setting created in RSCUR in BEX-->> YOur KF -->> Currency Conversion and then it will take that setting and go to the date given and check the currency value in TCURR and automatically calculate the output.
PLease do close the thread if that answers your questions.

  • Currency translation in BEx  Analyszer.

    Hi,
I am facing problem is currency translation in BEx  Analyszer.
My requirement is to translate the key figures into target curreny. I have created the transaction type through RSCUR transaction.
In the Query I have given the user to input the target cuurency.
I have maintained the Rates also in in Transaction OB08.
When i execute the query the system is taking only the Direct Ex.Rate.
If the USer Enter USD as  the Target currency, the only the Those Currency Key figures are translated where the Rate is Maitained direct.  For Example MXN-->USD.  But some Ex rate are maintained as inverse Ex. rate. Those rate are not picked.
I want to use the Curreny translation direct as well as inverse Ex. Rate.
    Please Suggest.

  • Currency translation for key figure in bex not working.

    Hi friends,
i want to do currency translation for key figure(invoice value in local currency).
i have followed the steps as under:
1st Transferring Global Table Contents: Currencies from R/3 Systems
2nd than transfer exchange rate - from r/3 to bi
3 than In SPRO settings of BW there is option "consider translation ratios in translation"
4th than used transaction RSCUR for creating currency translation type: parameter(exchange rate:m, soure currency fom data records, target currency ISK, time ref: current date)
5th than in BEX query designer have sated this for key figure
but when i run query in RSRT, curreny amount not getting convert?
    am i missing any step?
    pl. guide.
    thanks dushyant.

    Hi Dushyant,
Are these steps followed in Query designer??
In the Query designer, for that particular key figure property, under Conversion tab >> Currency Translation >> Conversion Type, select the currency translation type you created in RSCUR.
And in the target currency, select accordingly.
If you are going to use a variable, use the following link..

  • F-03: Need foreign curr translation date = document date, not posting date

    Hi All,
We need to clear accounts through F-03. If we use a foreign currency (local curreny is PLN), the translation date is set as posting date/clearing date: SAP default behaviour. However, we want the translation date to be document date.
We cannot change the clearing date in F-03 to document date because, if the document date is in previous period, the posting periods will be closed.
Can this be accomplised through any standard functionality in T-Code (F-03, F-44)? I couldn't find any.
Or do we need substitution/user exit for this?
    Thanks for your time!

  • How toconvert multiple currency translation please give details in one repo

how toconvert multiple currency translation please give details in one report

    Hi Venu,
Yes you can do currency translation in update rule as well as in the bex query.
    please follow the below steps:
    business scenario
you have records in different currencies and you want to convert them to a fixed target currency USD, using the avergae rate type 'M' on a monthly basis
    Step 1
Create translation keys using RRC1. here you need to specify the source currency. "select source currency from data records"
specify the target currency as USD
choose the exchange rate type as 'M' and the translation should happen using 0CALMONTH
    Step 2
create key figure 1 (KF1) that stores the amount in differnet curreny and it refers to 0currency. create another key figure (KF2) which has a fixed currency as USD. in the target cube you use 'KF2' and it is mapped from KF1.
in the update rule just below hte currency mapping you can find the currency translation screen, use the translation key created in step 1
    Step 3
if you have KF2 in your cube then you don't need any currency translation becoz you have already performed the translation in update rules. but if you have KF1 in your cube then you need to [erform the currency translation in bex. create a restricted key figure from KF1 (give it name as KF2). right click on the RKF and go to properties -> currency  translation -> select the translation key created in step 1.
    hope it helps.
    thanks

What is Curreny Factoring Technique? When is it used?

    "Max Points Are Assured"

    Hi,
             Currencies in Planning
In Profit Center Accounting, three currencies can be stored at once:
    Transaction Currency
The transaction currency is the currency used for a specific transaction. You can choose a different currency from the list of valid currencies for each new transaction. The transaction currency is stored in the transaction data for Profit Center Accounting as the so-called "first currency".
    Local Currency (Company Code Currency)
The controlling area currency is stored in Profit Center Accounting as the second currency.
    Profit Center Local Currency
You need to set a special currency for Profit Center Accounting in Customizing for each controlling area. This currency is used in the standard reports, among other things. You can find more information about this currency in Customizing. The profit center currency is the third currency updated in the transaction data.
How Do I Plan Currencies in Profit Center Accounting?
You first plan a profit center in USD. Then you later plan the same profit center in DEM in a second planning session. This may be necessary if:
the planned costs for the profit center in a certain cost element consist of external invoices in the local currency and external invoices from abroad and
the external invoice from abroad was billed and paid abroad
The currencies which can be planned manually are defined in the Layout.
If the corresponding key figures are defined and ready for input in the planning layout, you can plan in any permissible transaction currency, the company code currency or the profit center currency. The planned amount is then immediately and automatically translated into the other currencies. Note, however, that the system can only translate into a transaction currency if you have explicitly specified a transaction currency.
If you want to want to plan data using different transaction currencies, you need to use a planning layout that contains the characteristic "Transaction currency".
Note that data can only be saved in the transaction currency if a transaction currency has been specified. Otherwise the data will only be saved in the other currencies without the transaction currency.
If you want to want to summarize data in the transaction currency, you need to use a planning layout that does not contain the characteristic "Transaction currency". You can then:
change the summarized values, in which case the changes are not updated in the transaction currency, and
add any combinations of objects that have not already been planned.
    If you
enter one transaction currency, the system only displays the amounts planned in that currency. You can
    change these amounts
    plan in the currency specified
enter a number sign (#) to represent the value " " (no value), the system only displays those values that were planned without the transaction currency. You can
    change these amounts
plan amounts without a transaction currency
specify more than one currency or all currencies (*), the system displays all the planned values. You can
    change these amounts
can plan as yet unplanned combinations of your planning objects in any valid currency.
Planned currency amounts are translated using
the value date you entered in the planner profile for your area
a translation factor entered in the currency table for the exchange rate type entered in the planner profile
You will find further information about the currency table and currency translation in the documentation FI Configuration and Organization.
Transfer Pricing Using the Conditions Technique
The term "transfer pricing" is used to describe the calculation of prices for internal exchanges of goods between profit centers. Conditions are the individual steps carried out during price calculation. When a goods movement takes place between two plants, the price can depend on a number of factors, such as the material involved, the sender plant, the profit center, the partner profit center, and so on. The information on these variable factors is stored as master data in the form of condition records. There the transfer price can be defined as a fixed price or a percentage increase or reduction.
This section describes the steps necessary to define transfer prices. You define these transfer prices in Customizing. There you will also find a detailed description of how to proceed.
Define condition tables, which you use to store condition records for each condition type.
Here you define the price dependencies for transfer prices. You can make the transfer price found dependent upon a combination of fields. For example, if you want your transfer prices to be defined for a combination of material and partner profit center, you need to define a condition table that contains these key fields. The condition records then contain the individual prices for each combination of material and profit center. You maintain the condition records when you define the individual condition types.
Define access sequences that the system should use to search for valid condition records.
An access sequence is a search strategy that the system uses to find valid data for certain condition tables. Each access sequence consists of one or more steps, which the system processes in the order specified. The order determines where the system should look first for a valid condition record. You can specify an access sequence for any condition type for which you create condition records.
Define condition types for all the pricing elements (fixed amounts, markups and markdowns) that occur in your daily business operations.
In Profit Center Accounting, a condition type represents a component of a transfer price. You can define condition types for every type of fixed price, markup or markdown that occurs in your internal goods movements. If you define a percentage markup or markdown as a condition type, you also need to define another condition type to serve as the basis for this percentage. This can be a price stored in the material ledger. The relationship between these two condition types is then defined in the pricing procedure.
In some condition types you need to specify an access sequence. In this way you determine which fields the system should use to search for a valid condition record.
Define condition records that determine the amount or percentage to be applied for each set of values in the condition table (such as "fixed price of USD 100.00 for material 01, profit center ABC, and plant 0001").
You can maintain condition records directly from within the definition of the condition type. Or you can define them from the application menu by choosing Master data ® Transfer prices ® Conditions. It is also possible to copy existing condition records to create new ones. This is especially useful if you want to change the currency of the condition record. You can maintain condition records either in Customizing or in the application menu, under Master data ® Transfer prices.
Define a pricing procedure to group together condition types and determine how they relate to one another.
In addition to the selection and order of condition types, a pricing procedure determines
    – which subtotals should be calculated
    – what base value the system should use for calculating percentage markups or markdowns
    – what conditions must be met in order for a certain condition type to be calculated
The base value for markups and markdowns can be either a fixed price or a value from the material ledger. Using a routine supplied in the standard R/3 System, you can have the system read the legal, group, or profit center price from the material ledger and calculate the markup or markdown on this basis.
Define condition exclusions, which let you determine which condition type should be used in a given situation.
In transfer pricing for goods movements, it often happens that a number of different condition records are valid. Using condition exclusions, you can compare conditions with one another and use, for example, the most favorable price for the partner profit center.
For different condition exclusion methods are available:
    · The most favorable condition in an exclusion group
    · The most favorable condition record for a condition type
    · The most favorable condition among different exclusion groups
    · Exclusion of those conditions in an exclusion group when a condition type that belongs to another exclusion group appears
Define transfer price variants, which let you specify which pricing procedures are relevant for actual data and which for plan data.
To valuate different datasets, such as plan and actual data, using different conditions, you can define variants with an assignment to a specific pricing procedure. The system processes the specified procedures in order until it finds a valid transfer price.
In transfer pricing for goods movements, only actual data is valuated (variant 000). However, you can also create additional variants if you want to calculate plan prices on the basis of pricing data.
Define pricing reports, which determine the structure of lists of conditions.
A pricing report lets you analyze condition records according to certain criteria and define the structure of these lists. You can define pricing reports either in Customizing for Profit Center Accounting or in the application menu, under Master data ® Transfer prices ® Pricing reports.

  • Currency Translation on Key Date for AR Aging

    Need your valuable advice!
I have created an AR Aging query including both Open and Cleared Items based on 0FIAR_C03_Q0005 standard query. However the requirement is to do currency translation to Group Currency (USD) on Key Date. This Key date is defaulted to today but the user can change this to go back in time and pull all the ARs as of that back dated key date.
I was planning to create a currency translation type on M rate based on the Key Date Variable in RSCUR. However I am confused on which variable to base this currency translation. I have several key date variables in my query such as 0P_KEYD2 (based on Posting Date), 0P_KEYDT (based on Net Due Date) and 0P_KEYD3 (based on Clearing Date).
Which Key Date Variable should I use in 'Time Reference from Variable' field in RSCUR? Would it be one of the 3 mentioned above or something else and why?
    Appreciate your valuable advice.
    Thanks,
    Al

    Hi,
Yes I do want to use the Key date from the variable screen and I am using the standard 0FIAR_C03_Q005 with slight modification including currency translation.
As I mentioned in my original post I have several key date variables in this query such as 0P_KEYD2 (based on Posting Date), 0P_KEYDT (based on Net Due Date) and 0P_KEYD3 (based on Clearing Date). My question is which one should I use if I want to base it on the specific key date variable from the variable screen? I need the specific Key Date variable technical name.

  • Error message severity not translated correct when locale is changed

We have a shell page displaying different task flows within a dynamic region. The shell page f:view tag has locale="#{LocaleManager.currentLocale}" to allow programmatic change of locale. Most of the flows uses the locale from the browser request (e.g. Danish) but some pages has fixed locale (en_US) and will always be rendered with this locale (don't ask me why. It's a requirement). For those fixed locale pages, the expression #{LocaleManager.currentLocale} always returns "en_US". It works nice, but we have a strange problem with the translation of error messages displayed by validators/converters. E.g. if a character is entered in a number field, the user will see the usual popup error message like "*Error:* The value is not a number". The message part of the error message is translated but the severity message prefix ("Error:" in the example), seems to be translated and cached once per session. If the error message popup has been displayed once in a different locale, then after change of locale, the severity message prefix continues to use the translation from the first display. The message part of the message is translated perfectly.
    Let me give an example:
    1) User enters da_DK page and enters a invalid number. Error message displayed: "*Fejl:* Værdien er ikke et tal"
    2) User enters en_US page and enters a invalid number. Error message displayed: "*Fejl:* The value is not a number"
If the examples is reversed, then the error messages will be:
    2) "*Error:* The value is not a number"
    1) "*Error:* Værdien er ikke et tal"
Do anyone know how to clear this translated severity message prefix, when locale is changed? Or is there a better way to overcome this issue?
We're using JDeveloper and ADF 11.1.2.2 and are able to reproduce the issue on the embedded weblogic.

    Hi again
ok I added another locale that ships with flash builder, and encoutered the same problem
whenever I change the locale, the error tooltips are gone
I was even able to fix both new locales by assigning the the validators custom error messages using resourceManager.getString() like i assign a value to all other UI strings in the application
the default locale which is specified in the project compiler's parameters is en_US
and my final question to you is:
is there a best practice regarding localizing & managing the error massages Flex SDK uses?
what is the internal path to the resource bundles that flex uses to display errors?
it seems like it makes more sense to copy and edit an existing list of errors, rather then blow up the application code...
can you please share your view on the matter
    thank you for your help
