Cursor Action Lag

Hi Folks,
Fireworks CS3, MacPro quad 3ghz, OS 10.4.7-10.
THis has always been the case with fireworks on my machine.
Any time i make a selection, drag an object, select text etc more
that once or twice sequentially, the cursor lags. Not visually, but
the Selection made in a click and drag would be as if the cursor
was clicked a second or so reviously.
Making any sense?
I can do a video grab of an example if anyone wishes to see.
It's extremely frustrating.

Are you using a drawing tablet?

  • I'm getting a weird lag bug in adobe flash on my macbook where when I move my cursor no lag happens but when I stop I get lag from chatroom? Is there a fix? I'm on Mavericks.

Not does it only lag but the animations stop in the ads and in people avatars because some of the people there are running animated avatars. I just found it weird when I moved my cursor it stopped lagging, but when I leave my cursor still the chat freezes/lags. I would have blamed the specs on my older Macbook but why would the animations run fluid on Safari when my cursor moves?

  • Photoshop Actions Lagging/Photoshop Crashing

    Hello!
My photoshop actions keep lagging. I will run an action and it plays through the whole script but takes awhile for the changes to show on screen. Sometimes it wont change until I exit and open the document again. Photoshop will also crash without warning. I can also recreate the crash when I simply open a document. I have tried deleting cache files, deleting preferences, even re-installing. I need help diagnosing this problem. I am using CS5 on Windows 7.
    Please help.

As for the Actions, what are the Playback Options?
Have you properly restored the Preferences (ctr-alt-shift on starting and the dialog "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings File?") or manually deleted the files?

  • Strange Cursor Actions

A problem with my wife's MacBook.
The cursor has started to show a kind of hyper activity level. When moved and passing over a file, the file is automatically highlighted and dragged. The file then has to be moved back and the touchpad clicked.
If sitting still on a blank part of the screen for a short time, when moved a box starts to form as if selecting a group of files when in icon view. Again the touchpad has to be clicked.
When on a web page, will automatically click links, which is great if wanted.
The cursor size only has been increased with Universal Access, nothing else is on.
This does not happen if using a mouse.
The system preference file has been discarded, followed by a reboot, no effect. Permissions and hard drive have been verified, all correct.
The only item not up to date is iTunes.

Found the problems when allowed to check into the problem. It was with the System Preferences that were set for the trackpad and mouse. One of the items grab and lock was set. All the things you only see on laptops, that I was totally unaware existed.
I'm finally getting to learn more about the laptop.

  • Question about 360 movieclip with cursor action

    Hello Flash Forum
We have a question about a 360 flash / movieclip which comes
to a halt or jumps to whereever the cursor is moved horizontally
while any vertical movements is ignored. We are having difficulties
to implement this and would like to ask whether someone can point
us into the right direction in Flash 8 - read somewhere that this
is extremely easy in Flash 8 but we cannot find out how!?
    An example would be:
    http://www.kswiss.com/cgi-bin/kswiss/store/product_detail.html?mv_arg=x&pid=01190:177
    and then chosing 'Go 360'
Thank you for any assistance and/or direction.
    Alex

Alex, took a look at your sample - looks to me like
start_drag and stop_drag on mouse_over. Hope this helps. ash

  • Cursor location & action tracking data

I've asked this same question in another forum, but I am still unable to locate the answer that I am looking for. Basically I am wanting to extract the cursor location information that Adobe Connect uses to properly display a presenter's mouse movements during the playback of a recorded session. If I download a local ZIP file of a recording and examine all of the XML files, none of them seem to relate to the mouse's location over time. I've even looked at all of the metadata that is embedded into each of the FLV files. No such luck there either.
I know this data is being saved because the cursor actions are overlaid/replayed during a server-side playback of a recording, but it does not get included in the XML files of the ZIP when downloading a local copy. Does anyone have a thought as to where I can pull this data? I have nearly 50 recording sessions that I need to access this data for.
    Thanks for any help!
    -Bill

    Jaydeep-
Thanks for the clarification on the types of cursor data. In my particular instance, I am interested in the first method that you described.
With the work that we do for our recordings, we have already worked out a process for extracting the necessary mouse data from the XML files based on the second method that you described.
During my testing, I recorded a very simple screen share where I move the cursor to each corner of my screen and clicked in each corner, and then moved to the center and clicked. I was hoping to be able to use this recording to decifer the mouse actions, in particular the mouse clicks, and generate a text file that had a time stamp for each click. If that data is somehow stored within the screenshare_x_x.flv, I guess I am asking for a method to extract that data from the FLV. Any thoughts on how I might go about that?
I appreciate any further help you might be able to provide.
The URL for the demo recording that I set up is:  http://ibmstg.adobeconnect.com/p57wu7mx0xb/
    Thanks again!

  • In large PDF files my cursor moves around the page at warp speed. It does not seem to make any difference if I slow it down with Sys Prefs. This is not only in preview but also other programs to open PDFs.

In large PDF files the cursor moves at warp speed with a mind of it's own, I've tried slowing it down in Sys Pref with no luck. On small files cursor action is normal. This happens in Safari, Preview and other programs that use PDF files. Sorry to say this does not seem to be a new problem with 7.# I've had it with prvevious versions of operating system Right now I'm using a Apple wireless mouse and key board. Using the USB keyboard and mouse the same problem does not go away.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Mouse lags

My apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. I have looked but to no avail.
I am using the 2011 new iMac i5 with 12 GB of RAM and I have tried a wired A4tech Mouse (heavy lag) and a Genius wireless mouse.
I am using Windows 7 via boot camp. I only experience mouse lags during gaming. The mouse works fine for about 5 minutes but then the cursor starts lagging.
The magic mouse works fine though and doesnt lag.
My iMac is connected to the internet by lan.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab of Activity Monitor, are there a lot of Pageouts?

  • Cursor movement with snap to nearest data

I would like to have a SINGLE cursor snap to the closest data point to the mouse cursor on an XY graph when mouse:down.
The cursor action requires dragging. Any way to have the cursor snap to the closest data point (closeset in euclidian pixal units) to the mouse location without dragging?
I've tried to extract the mouse coordinates and then search through a list of XY graph coordinates converted to pixel coordinates. It seems like the mapping of graph coordinates to pixel coordinates is inconsistent with changes in text and other features outside the graph area.
    Useful features
    1. output XY coordinates of at least one corner of the graph (inside where the data is) area.
    2. An index to the closest data point in the graph where the mouse is located.
    3. An option for a cursor to snap to the closest data point where the mouse is located while mouse:down.
Any workarounds (example VIs) are greatly appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Here is some code attached which is hopefully useful to others.
The incorrect graph coordinates I referred to earlier was in an NI example "Draw Graph with Events". Maybe NI can fix in the next release? (Not the best example of how to do things correctly....).
    have fun.

  • Macbook Pro Wi-Fi causes mouse lag for Logitech MX Revolution

I just got the new 15" Macbook Pro 2.4ghz on Tuesday, October 28th. Yesterday, I tried using my Logitech MX Revolution mouse with it only to discover that it was nearly unusable. The cursor would lag terribly, sometimes sticking in one spot for several seconds and it was often not registering mouse clicks or scrolling. I tried it on my old Powerbook G4 that I had been using it on without issue for over a year. It had the same issue all of a sudden so I tried it on my co-workers 2007 Macbook Pro, he works across the office from me, and the mouse worked perfectly again. Next, I brought my old Powerbook over to his desk to see if there was some interference at my desk, and sure enough, it worked on that Powerbook again. So I then tried disabling the wifi on my new mac and lo and behold, the mouse worked perfectly on that machine.
I've tried switching the channel on our office router (it's a 1TB Time Capsule) a few times and that would help for a few seconds, and then the mouse lag would begin again. I doubt there's a way to change the frequency on the Macbook's wifi card, but if there is let me know. Beyond that, I'm not sure what to do. I will be a little upset if this mouse (which cost me $100) is obsolete because of my Macbook upgrade. There must be a way to get it working again. Ideas? Thanks!

    Hi,
I use a new 2,53ghz Macbook Pro togeter with a MX Revolution mouse. I use 2 Airport Extreme base stations in my w-lan and until now see no issues using the mouse.
Do you have the chance to try and check if the same promlem occuors when using an other MX Revolution / receiver combo , maybe there is an issue there.

  • As I'm typing, the text cursor jumndps arou -- jumps around. (See?).

    Hep me...
I've got a TiBook PB, v10.4.11 combo update. Maxed-out RAM.
But as I'm typing, alot of times the text cursor will jump to a completely different place & what I was typing winds up getting typed out into the middle of some other word. OK.. just now. The period I typed after the last word in the last sentence. The cursor jumped up to the "Subject" line & put a period after the "(See?)" I wrote.
Any suggestions from anyone as to what I can do to eliminate this problem?
    TIA....

    'llllllllo, ya'll
Kevin here, the guy who originated this thread.
I installed & ran AppleJack. Love it. Does base-level fixin', the best kind.
I just hope I don't have to use it someday 'cause nothin' shows up...... <knockknock on wood>.
I am now, BTW, typing along happily WITHOUT the golldarned cursor jumpin' all over the place as it did before (I mean, anywhere on the screen! I cussed...).
    I figgered it out.
It WAS a software issue. Fortunately. NOT a keyboard, ribbon cable, blabla whathaveyou hardware prob.
It seeeeeeems that my some of my SideTrack settings were not only conflicting with OSX's Keyboard/Mouse/Trackpad pref, but SideTrack itself needed some tweaking & experimenting with, too. And finally, I got it all right.
The v I had then & currently have is 1.4.1, which is fine, not a particular prob with that v, but I DLd the newest v1.60 tonight & I am very anxious to get it loaded up, because my 1.4.1 is not activating my PB trackpad's 4 "tap corners" properly at all. Which I think would be very handy to have (My attempted setup: TL:Left mouse button, TR:Rt btn, BR:Mid (wheel) btn, BL:Keystroke: "Enter"). Played around, experimented, just couldn't get the durned thing to work right consistently. And ya, I disabled any possible competing settings in the OSX KB/Mouse pref beforehand...
    So........
For any of you out there who may be having the same kinds of flaky-cursor actions when typing, click on your SideTrack pref icon first, if you've got SD. Specifically within that pref, go to the "Accuracy" subwindow. There, under "Filtering," I have checkmark-enabled all options except "Ignore trackpad when mouse is present." Basically, the "Filtering" settings all intercept keystrokes, or perhaps monitors keystrokes AND trackpad signals together, and with the settings I have enabled & set some of the variable ones to, my eduguess is that the Filtering settings puts a higher priority of sorts on keyboard inputs vs coincidental accidental trackpad inputs. Which, I've noticed, sometimes gives the appearance of letters, etc. a microsecond, though noticeable, of a delay.
The odd thing about all this is that I could tap a keyboard key with a single finger from directly above the keyboard -my hand's nowhere near the trackpad- and the cursor would STILL jump all over the screen. But not no mo'.
Finally....... I can now type without having to constantly keep an eye on where the cursor's at!
    Yaaaa!!!
I will uninstall my SideTrack 1.4.1 (BTW, if any of you Mac readers haven't done so already, GO GET "AppDelete" < <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://appdelete.en.softonic.com/mac >! It is one of those grassroots solutions done at 3am in someone's basement over cold pizza & Mountain Dew that the Apple SW guys & gals shoulda been doing in their sun-filled cubicles (which is how Bill's House got built, BTW!). It runs in the background invisibly, & when you do an ordinary delete of an APP, a small AppDelete window pops up asking you if you want the APP's associated files to be dumped, too. Which is usually a YA, of course, but sometimes not). After I install SideTrack v1.6 < <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://www.ragingmenace.com/software/sidetrack/index.html >, I may report back here with a review of how it works.
    solong for now, fellow macyakkers
And thanks to all those members who offered their suggestions of helping ideas!

  • Mouse acting slow.  delayed action

my mouse just recently started acting up. also my tablet. when working in photoshop or anything, all of a sudden the cursor starts lagging behind, acting in retrospect, rather than realtime. I disabled virus software and backup software and disconnected my internet, but it's still doing it. Only program I'm using is photoshop. Hard drive has 50GB free space. I have 8GB of ram. I recently thought I activated a virus by mistake by opening a sketchy file I got via e-mail, but I ran virus barrier with the latest updates and it can't find any viruses anywhere. I can't figure this one out and it's driving me crazy.

    Hello,
There are no known Mac viruses, so you can eliminate that.
Have you checked your System Preferences/Keyboard&Mouse/Mouse to see if your scroll and double click is set to your liking?

  • Vimeo lags the whole firefox application

    Hi there
For the past 1 1/2 months, whenever I load up www.vimeo.com and that is before I click and play any of the videos on the site, Firefox immediately lags. It also naturally, lags when I hit play on any of the videos. If I were to just let it be for a few seconds the video will eventually play although it still lags terribly and as soon as I move my mouse cursor (which takes quite some time changing from the finger icon whenever you press on the play button on a vimeo video to the normal windows arrow icon cursor), Firefox lags and a "(not responding)" would appear at the top of my taskbar only for it to be ok after a few seconds of just letting go of my mouse which means I'm not moving my mouse cursor at all. Firefox resumes back normally once I close the vimeo website tab. Essentially, I've to close one of my tabs which loads up the Vimeo website or be on another tab for my Firefox to work normally.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, made sure all my plugins and graphic drivers were updated including flash etc and have tried the solutions found on the mozilla support site such as disabling hardware accelaration under the firefox options menu but no dice, it still gives me a problem. It works fine on youtube but not vimeo. Vimeo works fine both in Chrome and Internet Explorer as well.
And lastly, Firefox these days crashes wayyyyy too often. Like I would be just browsing through any website, be it vimeo or facebook and it'll just crash, I don't know if it's a flash issue but I've updated it as well as reinstalling it numerous times to no avail. Anyway, that's not my main problem, my main grouse is this vimeo on firefox issue so I sincerely hope you can help me out here. Thanks very much for your time !

  • IChat freezes, please help

Just today, my macbook is starting to hate me. I turn it on, go into ichat, i connect, i can see my buddies, but i get the spinning wheel, and it NEVER goes away. I cant even force quit ( i click, but it doesnt).
And then i noticed that screen captures take a lot longer than they usually do to appear on the desktop, and my cursor started lagging.
I dont know what the deal is. Please help.

    Hi,
It does not look that busy from those figures.
If Activity Monitor is Open I would look more specifically at the CPU Column.
If you click the Header/title of this column the list will be reordered base of those details with the heaviest using app at the top.
