Cursor disappears and window "de-selects" after about 15 seconds. No action on my part causes this.

In any program, including Word or IE, the cursor disappears and the window fades as if de-selected. Happens if the machine is idle OR I'm actually typing. Only way to continue typing is to hit space bar and then type.
Recently installed an Epson WP-4540. Don't know if the problem existed before that or not.
Have tried updating from both MS and HP websites.
Any suggestions?
Also cannot install support assistant because of a "syntax" error--line too long to be read.

New Acrobat Pro installed and EVERY PDF file crashes after about 10 seconds. Any Solutions?

I just purchased and installed Acrobat Pro v. 10.1.2 and it seemed to install fine ,but now EVERY ODF crashes after about 10 seconds. Also, I get the Windows "please wait while Windows Configures Acrobat" message every time I launch Acrobat. Does anyone have a solution or suggestion?

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble.
Could you try the following:
Launch Acrobat, but do not open a PDF file.
Choose Edit > Preferences. Click on 'Internet' on the left-hand side.
Uncheck 'Display PDF in Browser'
Relaunch Acrobat - do you still get the 'Please wait while Windows configures Acrobat' message?
If that message has stopped coming up, please try opening a PDF file. Does Acrobat still crash?
Do you have any other versions of Acrobat or Adobe Reader installed on this computer?
What version of Windows do you have installed? What version of Internet Explorer is installed?

"Adobe" is not a product. If you are you talikng about Adobe Reader and using Windows, you can try using Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement.

Playback in Preview window stops after about 1 second

Hi,
When I hit the spacebar to view the clip in the preview window, the playback stops after about one second each time. It goes smoothly, then after one second, it stops. I can however drag the slider across the time line and there seems to be no problems.
I'm sure I have a powerful enough computer, so I don't think it's something to do with ram (I have 6 gig ram, Vista, triple core processor, good graphics card... brand new computer bought yesterday)
I'd appreciate help with this.

I'm not sure what you mean... I am importing from a DV tape which was recorded onto by a MiniDV Camera. When I plug in the camera to my fire wire, Windows gives me the options of AVI and WMV format (I am not sure which one to go with by the way, but WMV format seems clearer and 5 times smaller too.. why is that?)
Any ideas?

This happens only after updating to the new version 4.0.1 it never happened in the older versions 3.x.xx- checked it thrice. Thought it could be a bug and i didn't know where to report also don't have time and patience to search for the appropriate page so i'm reporting here for improving my favorite browser.

You can find the New Tab button showing as a '+' on the Tab bar.<br />
You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar button like the New Tab button that you have in Firefox 3 versions.<br />
If you want the New Tab button at the far right end of the Tab bar then place a flexible to the left of it.<br />

In general, when desktop software is using Flash Player, it's because they're embedding an Internet Explorer window in the application. If you don't have Flash Player for Internet Explorer (aka. the ActiveX Flash Player) installed, then the desktop application isn't going to work.
So, fire up Internet Explorer
Go here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Follow the prompts, and then re-launch the application after you've completed the installation in IE. Hopefully that sorts it out for you.

SMS. Deggie, had them check that. After a lengthy discussion with Senior Tech advisor, it appears it is iMessage/Face Time server (they are the same) issue, which will strong arm those into purchasing Data if they use iMessage over multiple devices, as the server registers the phone number associated with apple ID. Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:

Wi-fi in Windows 7 Bootcamp drops after a few seconds

Hi there, I'd be really grateful for any help or advice anyone could offer me.
I just bought a 27" iMac (2013, Haswell) and have set up a Windows 7 Professional Bootcamp on the hard drive. I installed the Apple support driver pack and everything seems to be working fine. Everything that is, except wireless internet in Windows 7.
When I first boot into Windows 7 the wi-fi works perfectly. It connects to my router, it can load websites and begin downloads. But usually after about 10 seconds to a minute the taskbar wi-fi icon will have an ! next to it and no websites or downloads will work. To be clear, the wi-fi works perfectly in OSX (Mavericks) and for a few moments it works just as well in Windows.
I have checked my device manager and the driver for the Broadcom 802.11ac Network Adapter is present and accounted for, not to mention all the other drivers that suggest the Apple Bootcamp pack installed correctly. Downloads in particular seem to make it break faster - when I run Windows network diagnostics on it to get it fixed it says 'Troubleshooting has completed: The connection between your access point, router or cable modem and the Internet is broken Detected !, and The default gateway is not available Fixed *tick*'). This makes the connection work again but only for a few minutes...
I have done a lot of googling and there seem to be several problems with Windows 7 wireless in Boot Camp, but I can't seem to find my particular problem (where it obviously works, but something interferes) or any working method to solve it.

I read something about ''netsh winsock reset'' on cmd but since this is bootcamp windows I havent tried anything like this yet. as you can see It's like the first post, same issue, only on bootcamp win, OS X connection wont drop .
You may be better off using ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew. Winsock reset is going to reset Network Adapter, which is not necessary. In your Device Manager -> Network Adapter, what are the entries? OS X has a completely different driver, so a comparison can lead to erroneous conclusions.
Here is an example on my machine with some additional windows for driver versions. Can you post what you have?

I just set up Firefox Home on my iPhone 4. I can see my tabs. One of the tabs is Gmail. When I click on the Gmail tab, the email list appears for about a second, then the screen goes blank. I can click on the other tabs see and see the associated pages without this happening. I have tried this over and over. I can read my Gmail in Safari just fine, but Firefox Home blanks out the Gmail page after about a second for some reason. Is this a bug?

Web player randomly cut off sound and stop playing after about 5 seconds.

My web player cut off the sound and stops after about 5 seconds. The only way to get it to work again without refreshing the page it to select a different time periode in the time bar. Also it happens more often at the first 25% of the movie.
I am using safari with add block on a Macbook pro retina (if this helps with the issue).
What can I do to solve this.

When I power up my mac, I see the white screen and the apple icon. After a few seconds of powering up the screen goes dark. Yet I still can the mouse arrow but nothing else.

When I power up my Imac, I see the white screen and the apple icon. After a few seconds the screen goes dark. I am able to still see the mouse arrow as I move it around. But nothing else. What is the problem and how do I recover?

Try this from another user:
1. Shut the computer down by holding the power button for 10 seconds
2. Restart the computer and press shift at the same time until you see the progress bar start moving
3. Once you reach the point where your screen goes dark and you see the cursor, type the first letter of the username for your computer, then hit Enter, then type your password, then hit Enter.
4. After a moment, you should see the spinning beach ball
5. Your screen should then move on to something along the lines of "Completing OSX Installation" (I can't remember the exact wording). Let it finish. After that it should go to your normal desktop and the issue should be fixed. (If your screen goes pitch black during this process, hit the space bar. I thought it wasn't working, but the screen was just sleeping).
