Cursor disappears except near dock (right side) OS 10.6.8, 27" Intel iMac. Started this morning.

This morning my wireless mouse needed battery replacement. After that, the cursor disappears as I move it away from the dock area. If I move over buttons and am lucky, the proper action will take place but I cannot see the cursor. Sort of like playing Battleship game. Blindly move the mouse and hope I hit something. Although this is new this morning, I've had the same problem in the past but it went away. It seems worse or much more annoying this morning.My wired mouse displays the same problem. I had to borrow my wife's laptop to send this problem. The only program open is Safari. I did a restart hoping to clear the problem but no dice.

I tried the safe boot and it solved the problem. What is a Safe Boot? Where can I learn more about it and when to use it? Will the problem be gone when I do a normal boot? I read elsewhere that someone thought that F10 would solve the problem but it did not for me. I read also that someone upgraded to Lion and still had the problem.
I am still using Rosetta because I use Eudora (I know, a diosaur) and at one time had a suspicion that Eudora is involved but this morning, I had the problem after a restart and Eudora was not active.
I'd really like to know what Safe Boot is intended for. Thanks for the help

For instance I view an apartment ad which has various pictures attached. It says click on the pictures to see an enlarged version. FF opens the page however most of the page is blank and the picture appears to be pushed to the right side of the page and shows as if it has been scrunched agains the right side not showing the whole picture.

I see that you have increased some font sizes considerably.
* font.size.fixed.x-western: 20
* font.size.variable.x-western: 22
This can effect margins when the website specifies these as em values and cause content to shift.
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.
You can use the NoSquint extension to set font size (text/page zoom) and text color on web pages.

You have to take the computer to the Apple store as soon as possible.
Interpretation of these error codes are very difficult.
There is no published info about these codes from Apple.

17" combo drive Intel iMac- is this the right external DVD drive to get?

Earlier in the week, I bought a refurbished 17” white Intel iMac from the Apple Store. It came without the Superdrive, only the combo drive.
As this will be a holiday gift for a niece with small kids, I thought being able to burn DVD’s using iDVD would be nice for her. I understand she can attach an external FW DVD drive to do this, and I just want to make sure to give her the right info for buying in case she wants it (she has someone that can put it together for her)-

I own 2 Pioneer 110-Ds that work with iDVD and over at ripdifferent.com there are several people that use the drive and enclosure I suggested and it works with idvd for them.

If you are using the iphone as designed then you should lose very little or nothing.
You should be syncing contacts with your computer regularly, so all of your contacts should be on your computer and you can sync them back.
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera, most especially before any attempt to update.
You should be transferring all purchases made on your iphone to your computer: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

Dock & arrow disappear on Right side of Desktop? Why?

Hi all, hoping someone can explain why I get this occuring inconsistantly?
Really strange and I cant pinpoint it to any activity. Some days all works well & like just now, I find that the dock & pointer compleatly disappear only on the right side of the desktop!
I can bring back the pointer but it takes a lot of movement to get it to re-appear. It happens with the usb mouse or trackpad.
The dock never appears. I have to set it to the bottom or the left.
Support doesnt have a clue. Sometimes it comes before more problems start like system performance hanging/freezing, iPhoto hanging/freezing.
Dont mind having the dock on the left but it is freaky having the pointer disappear.

Right side of trackpad will not click.

Over the past couple days I have noticed my trackpad acting up, and have realized that the right half, or at least most of it, does not respond to clicks. Tap to click still works, though I don't usually use this feature, and I can still move the cursor when I drag the right side. It is only the physical click that seems to be broken. What causes this issue, and would this be covered under my extended warranty if I had to get it repaired?

This just happened to my MacBook Pro. Were you able to take it to Apple for a replacement of the broken parts?

I recently (about 3 weeks ago) purchased a 15" MacBook Pro with the Anti Glare High Resolution Screen, and an upgraded 750GB 7200Rpm HDD from my local Apple Retail Store. So far, I have had nothing but positive things to say, however I have found a little bit of an annoying quirk that I am slightly concerned about.
I noticed while picking up my MBP that the bottom casing flexes quite a bit on the right side. At first, I just assumed I had put too much pressure on the right side by picking it up with one hand, and it wasnt anything to worry about. However, after 3 weeks of this happening I have noticed it more and more and I decided to see exactly what was going on. So I flipped the MBP upside down and gently applied pressure on various points of the back casing and it seems that there is either something missing on the right side causing the MBP bottom casing to flex, or this is just a design flaw. It doesnt seem likely that its a design flaw because its not flexing at all on the left side.
I am extremely careful with my MBP as I am with all of my things, especially my MBP considering I spent nearly $3,000.00 on it. Im very anal about keeping things in good order, and just wanted to be sure this is nothing to worry about, and if it is indeed a problem that requires attention, would like to take the MBP into the Genius Bar ASAP. Im completely capable of, however Im not at all interested in opening the thing up or anything to fix something that shouldnt be there in the first place on a computer thats only 3 weeks old, so if this does require attention, I will be expecting a solution to come from Apple.
This is my first Mac and so far Im very impressed. If I had spent hundreds of dollars on a plastic PC, I wouldnt even bother, but considering this Mac cost me what it did, I didnt expect something like this. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

I am still a bit concerned considering if left alone, over time, its very possible that this will get worse and could eventually cause some kind of damage as well as accelerated wear on whatever is underneath the casing that is being touched each time the bottom casing flexes as its picked up, and the bottom casing itself. It only flexes on one side, and its very noticeable. Is this the case with all of the MBP's over 13"?

It it possible to have info on the left and right sides of iweb templates?

When I look at my iweb website there is empty space on the left and right sides of my screen. I was wondering if this space could be used at all?

You can increase the width of your Page, go into Inspector, Page Tab. From here you can adjust the Content Width, which is the width of your page, the bits that you see on the left and right are fillers, for people who's browsers are set bigger than your site. You can change the color that shows by changing the Browser Background.
In the good 'ole days, most people had screens that were only 800 W x 600 H, but these days most people have at least 1024 W x 768 H (some do, no doubt still have 800x600). So, 1024 is really the max width you can go, dont forget that you need to leave some space for the browser as well, and the scroll bars.
But pages this big are wider than normal, the best thing to do is experiment and see what works for you.

Alphabetical Navigation on right side for Artists/Albums/Songs (Mobile)

There's a utility that allows you to move through alphabetical lists quickly via a thin alphabetical list on the right side of a list. For long alphabetical lists, this is almost necessary to quickly get to where you're going. Adding this to the right side of the Your Music sections that are alphabetically organized would be incredibly helpful.

Another populate right side shuttle

I have read the posts regarding populating the right side of the shuttle and have used a lot of Dkubicek's code from his example. The thing I am not sure about...is this supposed to be populating the right shuttle. Here is what I want to do. User comes to page, empty shuttle. They select userid, then using ajax I populate the states that user is assinged to. Once they select a specific state, I want to populate the right shuttle with all the counties that user is assigned to. I already have the left shuttle populating with ALL the counties in the state using a simple LOV. Right side will not populate. No filter needed. This is what I have built.

How do I get the word Bookmarks to appear on the right side of my bookmarks toolbar? It has disappeared.

In my Bookmarks toolbar there is a star, an arrow, and a house. There used to be the word "bookmarks" but it disappeared. I want the word "bookmarks" back so that I can click on that. If I right click in the blue area, all I get is Open all in Tabs, etc. There is nothing to say how I get the word bookmarks.

Firefox has two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window.<br />
One star button has a drop-marker that open the Bookmark menu and may appear on the Navigation Toolbar or on the Bookmarks Toolbar if the menu bar is hidden.<br />
The other star button without the drop-marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks).
