Cursor does not blink in Google home page
Windows XP....Firefox 8....Google.ca is my homepage. The cursor in the search feild will not blink......Just a steady bar....If I type something in search feild ;it will search properly.I have the same homepage in Internet Exlorer and in Chrome and they both blink in the search feilds.
Thank you for responding to my question.........This problem still persist......Seems like the problem only occurs on the Firefox Google.ca homepage. If I go to yahoo homepage , cursor will blink in the search box.I use Google.ca homepage in other browsers and the cursor will blink normally . Thanks...................Gilles

When I open a second tab in Firefox, it does not go to my home page. Instead it goes to a page that displays what looks like a collection of pages (or links) that I have visited in the recent or distant past. I would much rather have it go to my home page which is much more useful to me. I have tried to change this in 'Options' but with no luck. Please fix this.

Google search does not work from comcast home page
When I try to do a google search from the comcast home page, I keep getting a timeout error. However, google searches work everywhere, but the comcast home page.
Then as i mentioned in one of previous reply, ask about this problem from the Comcast Techincal Support. They will know what's changed on their website.
OR for further testing, Create a New Profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
-> Basic Troubleshooting - Make a New Profile
-> Set Comcast's website as your homepage in the New Profile.
IF that New Profile works then you can recover your Bookmarks and Passwords from the Old Profile.
-> Recovering important data from an old profile
Check and tell if its working. -
Cursor does not blink in searcg box when Firefox first loads
The cursor in both Internet Explorer & Google Chrome blinks when the programs are first loaded. This does not happen in Firefox v8 is this correct?
If I'm not logged on then the cursor is in the login form at the top.<br />
Once logged in the main body has focus and not a specific element, so you have to click in an input filed to set focus to it.
If it worked before then they have changed the code of that page recently and it is just a coincidence that it happened around the time that Firefox updated. -
I have repeatedly checked my settings for Firefox to go to my home page when opened. Instead it opens my last pages opened. I have the most current version of Firefox. This has been going on for about a week.

Firefox 15 does not always load my home page when it starts up.
Started my computer. Clicked on the Firefox icon to start Firefox. My preferences include loading my home page (an html file on my computer) when Firefox starts. I have also set browser.newtab.url to the same thing.
Some of the time, a blank page shows where my home page should show.
My home page should have loaded.
If I click on "new tab", the new tab always seems to load my home page properly. It is only when I first start up Firefox that this problem may occur.
Since this is an intermittent problem, and there is a work-around (clicking on the "home" icon), this is undoubtedly a low-priority bug.Since the time of Sea Monkey and Netscape, this problem has not arisen for me. It did not happen in Firefox 12. Only when I upgraded to Firefox 15 did this problem start happening. To me, a retired computer programmer, this feels like a regression. I'd guess at either an uninitialized vairable or a race condition.
In any case, Firefox should be able to handle being closed by clicking on the x in the titlebar. I shall continue doing so.
There has never been a hang at exit for me, so that is not something I will pursue.
In addition, since the problem did not occur ever until Firefox 15, I have done the following:
sudo yum downgrade firefox xulrunner
Both are now at firefox 12 level.
To keep things at that level, I've added to /etc/yum.conf the following:
exclude=firefox, xulrunner
I'm certain that my recent actions to downgrade will solve the problem and show that this is a regression. -
Just a few days ago, I noticed that when I start Firefox it goes to a blank page, despite the fact that I have several times checked and rechecked under "Options" and my home page is in there. Also the back button has stopped working. I have made sure that inprivate browsing is not enabled, history is maintained etc etc
Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

Ok so I open my Firefox browser but when it opens it does not go to the homepage. It goes to the last page I visited in my previous internet session. My homepage is www.imdb.com but lets says I go to www.facebook.com and then i close the window; if I reopen firefox it will go to the facebook page and not the homepage. This happens all the time and it even happens after I restart the computer. It always goes to the last page I visited. Like this page for example where I posted a question. Once i close firefox, and then open it again, it will come to this page and not the homepage. Is this supposed to happen? It started happened a few weeks back. I reinstalled it and it still happens. thanks.
Hi eaglerabbit,
This is a pretty easy fix. Just go to Tools > Options > General and change the preference for what Firefox should do on startup. You probably have it set to load tabs and pages from your previous session.
If that doesn't work, you should look at the Knowledge Base article Preferences are not saved.
Hopefully this helps! -
My "Home" breadcrumb link does not point to my home page.
I have set my Home page as start page and main menu works fine just not the breadcrumb.
The Home on the breadcrumb still points to index.html.
Any suggestions?
ThanksSidney
I also responded by adding to my original request.
Problem still there in cache cleared Firefox as well as new IE browser.

Every time We have been closing the browser for the last few days when we restart the browser, regardless of weather we shut down the computer or not, it reopens to the last page that was opened. I cleared out and deleted the history but it did not help.
Maybe you currently have your home page setting to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" instead of "Show my home page".
*Firefox button > Options > Options > General tab > Startup > "When Firefox starts"
*If using the Menu Bar: Tools > Options > General tab > Startup > "When Firefox starts"
*See --> How to set the home page

After finding a scrapbook site that I believe would suit my needs, I downloaded the "my scrapbook nook" toolbar. The download was successful, but the toolbar is not on my home page. I checked Tools-->Downloads, and it is listed. How do I find the toolbar and bring it to my home page with my other tool bars? This has also happened when I tried other downloads. They seem to disappear. If I find them, e.g., in programs, I can't get them to my desktop for easy access or do anything with them.
Downloaded into your Download folder, but not yet installed. You have to install it.
If you can't find the iTunes.exe in the Download folder, use your computer's Search facility to look for it. -
In the earlier version I had of Firefox 3. something-can't remember now, whenever I opened up a new tab it automatically opened up in my home page "Bing" http://www.bing.com. Now when I open a new tab, it's simply a blank page. How do I get it to open the Bing page automatically whenever I open a new tab?

Firefox does not open with my home page
Whatever settings I use (eg Options>Options>General>Show my Home Page), Firefox opens with the page(s) from my last session. I'd quite like my home page back!
I had this problem as well, but was able to solve it using this procedure:
- Close firefox from the menu (don't use the 'x' as firefox may continue to run in memory for a while)
- in your start menu, enter the following into the "run" prompt: firefox.exe -P
- The firefox profile manager will open (see attached image)
- In my case I deleted the "default" profile because I didn't care about losing any settings. You may want to simply create a new profile instead in case you need to save your settings.
- To avoid being asked about which profile to be used you can highlight your new profile and then make sure the "Don't ask at startup" checkbox. When ready, press the "Start Firefox" button.
- Voila! That fixed it for me. Like I said, I just created a new "default" profile and everyone worked fine for me; use your own judgement here.
Good luck! -

Cursor does not appear on Facebook page load. Spacebar shifts page down.
Cursor does not appear anywhere on Facebook page load. It used to land in the first text box, and as I was used to this I would open an FB page and start typing. Nothing was entered into the text box, and when I hit Spacebar it shifts the page down.
Couple of things:
It acts this way both in normal and in "safe mode".
It acts correctly on Google - it is my home page and when I open it the cursor is always in the search box. It also acts correctly on YouTube.
The cursor DOES NOT appear in the URL bar (thankfully)
The cursor DOES NOT appear in any text boxes on any other pages I open >> The Weather Channel, TED.com, Amazon.com
The Spacebar scrolls the screen down one frame at a time.
It has the same behavior with the "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages
