Cursor doesn't disappear for full-screen movies.

I believe it only happens when I'm watching something streamed over the internet. It's not limited to the web browser I'm using though. It also disappears sometimes, but very rarely. I thought it was a problem with my iMac but it's happening on my new MacBook Pro too. Anyone know why?

Is the mouse connected directly to the Mac Pro  or a third party hub?
And have you tried a different USB port?

  • IPad Air display refresh rate for full screen movies?

    What exactly happens if I play a movie on the iPad full screen with a rate of e.g. 24p, 25p or 50i?
    The stated maximal refresh rate is 60Hz.
    Will this rate be reduced when playing movies?
    Or will frames be dropped / interpolated if the frame rate and the refresh rate don't match?
    Or will the movie be sped up / slowed down?
    When using the HDMI adapter, I can see that it always outputs 60p, regardless of the movie frame rate. But maybe this is different on the internal panel.
    Thanks for any insight!

    Should it happen again double tap the screen with three fingers. Then go to settings> general> accessibility> zoom> off.

  • Command-L doesn't work for full-screen PDF under Mac

    In Adobe Reader, users can use Ctrl-L to view PDF in full screen under Windows (Cmd-L under Mac);  in AIR, Ctrl-L still works under Windows but Cmd-L doesn't work under Mac. Is this a bug or the short-cut is intentionally disabled?

    Hi If using command r did not get you to the recovery partition, you ether don't have it or the drive is corrupt and it wont open.And you also tried option and only got the startup volume. You could try option r. Are you able to boot into your desktop? Or use another mac. You should be able to use you apple id to look in purchases and re-download Lion. Then if you can using at lest a 10 Gig thumb drive copy the lion download as bootable to it and use that to repair your disk. If you get it downloaded do not open it. until you copy it.http://www.macworld.com/article/1161069/make_a_bootable_lion_installer.html

  • My cursor does not disappear when watching full screen movies

    I have a rMBP running Mountain Lion, everything is up to date. Like I said when watching full screen videos my cursor arrow does not dissapear. I am new to OSX so is this normal or do I have my settings set up wrong. Its not a huge deal, just getting more annoyed with each video, thanks for your help.

    I have the same problem, but in addition, if the cursor doesn't disappear completely the video control menus stay glued to the bottom of the full screen.  I may have to switch back to my pc to watch.....

  • Using Apple TV/Airplay for a full screen movie and opening new window on laptop

    When I have a full screen movie playing on my TV in AirPlay dual screen mode, and I open a new Safari window or my Mail, the window appears seemingly by default on top of the movie rather than coming up on my laptop monitor.  Is there a spot I can reset the default for new Safari windows and Mail windows to my laptop monitor, so they don't interrupt the movie on my TV?
    Background: my girls love Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife which I find terribly boring, and need to find something to do while the movies are playing rather than fall asleep! And you know what happens if Safari shows up over top of their beloved Downton!

    it being mirror and many tv's being widescreen 16:9 and the screen of ios device not being widescreen this happen
    most tv's support having top and button chopped or streghed to fill the tv this is something one does with the tv's remote

    Hi! I am using latest Kwin with Plasma 5 on my Arch and I have noticed that I have to check "Suspend desktop effects for full screen windows" in Desktop Effects>Advanced every time I log in.
    What's wrong with Kwin?
    Solved: Kwin 5.2 is under development now so currently this functionality is not availible.

    It saves the state for my NVIDIA blob but does not for Intel laptop. It also warns that not every setup is able to redirect, so maybe he thinks our cards are unsupported and unchecks it?

  • What's with the "Full Screen" movie rentals?

    I"m as ****** as the next guy about the "No HD rentals" issue, but even more ****** off that most of the rentals I'm clicking on aren't just not available is HD, but aren't even available in "Widescreen". All Macs have a "widescreen" display now, and even your iPods, iPod Touch, and iPhone's are widescreen. No one wants to download a rental of a "Full Screen" movie anymore. My God, "300" in Full Screen - What are they thinking? If they want to offer "Full Screen" rentals, it should be an option, like when you go to the video store to buy a DVD, and are offered a "Full Screen" version or a "Widescreen" version. I don't think they even sell Full Screen TVs anymore. I have the same problem with PPV from the cable company... If it is not offered in Widescreen, I don't rent it. The same will be true here. I just never imagined Full Screen would ever even be offered, much less the only option.

    The iTunes store has pretty much everything in widescreen that it can, but as with most televisions and "home theater" setups... Widescreen really doesn't matter. I know that some people prefer widescreen, but I don't. I have a projector not a TV so I have a 20 foot screen and the black lines in most "widescreen" movies eats up 4-5 feet of space. The only movies that come formatted for a widescreen TV in the first place(I am talking about on DVDs) are the Anamorphic Widescreen DVDs. They have a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, but very few DVDs actually have this, most are in 1.85:1 aspect ratio or 16:9 which is actually a fullscreen movie with black lines at the top and bottom.
    As for HD rentals in the iTunes store, this is AppleTV only, and that is not Apple's fault, this is due to DRM. In order for you to play a copy-protected Blu-ray or HD DVD you have to have http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDCP compliant hardware, the apple TV is HDCP, but you computer is not, so therefore Warner Bros/FOX/Sony etc. Can not be guaranteed that you won't be able to pirate their content.
    Most people do not have a widescreen TV, and yes most Computer screen LCDs are capable of just about any resolution, but a lot of people are still in the non-HD zone.
    I agree that many people want HD content, however given how hollywood lost the battle to keep DVDs copy-protected, they have taken enormous steps to protect HD content.....

  • How To Make Screen Controls Disappear In Full Screen Mode?

    I downloaded Quicktime 7.2 and even though I have selected Edit/Preferences/Player Preferences/Full Screen and under Controls, Display Full Controls, Hide after 2 seconds -
    When I am watching a video in full screen mode, for example the latest Keynote Address by Steve Jobs, the control panel which accesses Stop/Pause/Fast Forward etc., does not disappear regardless of how long I wait. Additionally the mouse pointer does not disappear either.
    I have to move the mouse pointer off the screen and/or move the Control Panel all the way down out of the way for it not to be visible.
    If I Deselect the "Display Full Screen Controls", then of course the controls do not appear, however the mouse still stays on the screen in full screen mode.
    How do I correct this. The Windows Media Player functions perfectly when I watch movies in full screen - controls disappear and so does the mouse. If I move the mouse, they reappear then disappear again after a few seconds.
    Any advice in correcting this would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Yes, this is annoying, however I'm glad you 2 guys finally posted. This is what I've found out so far. If you delete the .plst file (do a search for for it), it appear that it will be recreated again by Quicktime. That cured the problem with the Control Panel disappearing after the preset time set in preferences. However, the pointer will not disappear. I tried to uninstal and reinstall and also view different movies, but it will not disappear.
    So give that a shot and see if that resolves 50% of the problem. In Media Player, the control panel and pointer disappear in Full Screen mode. In Quicktime there seems to be a quirk. I've searched on this forum, but have not been able to find any other threads that indicatd a resolution to this issue. So let's hope that someone does or that Apple figures out the problem and issues an updated version for this.
    There was a new update that I received over the past few days and I was hoping this would resolve this issue, but it didn't.
    I've also read here that going to Windows Safe Mode and activating QT, watching a movie, then going back to normal mode fixes some issues. I've tried that too, but the pointer just will not disappear.
    I've tried disabling the Control Panel and then it won't appear at all, but the mouse pointer always does and the only way is to move it physically off the screen. When you move it the Control Panel will appear for a few seconds, then disappear again.
    Try these things out and comment on what you discover.

  • No sound when watching full-screen movies or TV shows in iTunes after update to 11.1

    After updating to iTunes 11.1, any full-screen movies or TV shows I try to play on my Thunderbolt display with my MacBook Pro have no audio. If I plug in speakers or headphones, I get audio, just not from the Thunderbolt display. Audio works fine from MBP.
    Weird thing is, if I plug in other speakers or headphones and then *unplug* them, the Thunderbolt display's speakers start working again. Every time you start a new show or movie, though, you have to do this again after the full-screen video opens on the display.
    Really weird. I obviously suspect i has something to do with the 11.1 update to iTunes 'cause audio works just fine through the display for iTunes music and other content and for the web and all other apps and games, whether they're in full-screen mode or not.
    Keep checking Software Update hoping to see that "1" badge pop up on the App Store, lol.
    Anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks allen222! I've been banging my head against this issue as well - glad to hear it's fixed in Mavericks - was planning to upgrade shortly.

  • Can't use external monitor as default monitor for full-screen settings

    Hey guys,
    I have been trying to get quicktime to let me use my external monitor as the full-screen monitor. Every time I go into full-screen, it reverts back to my MBP screen.
    I cannot seem to find this option even in the fullscreen preferences. Rather than having an option I can click on (like I've seen in pictures), it just says "Movie Size." I have Quicktime Pro 7.5.5 and I am running Leopard.
    Any ideas? I can play most of my movies on VLC, but since I paid for Pro it would be nice if I can get it to work on my external monitor.

    I have to say, I am in exactly the same place ppshr150 is. I have checked both Quicktime and Quicktime Player preferences and the option to choose a default screen for full-screen presentation of movies does not exist.
    I can drag movies over to the second monitor and then press Command F and they will play there but from a presentation perspective, this is rather unprofessional.
    It surprises me that Apple does not have this option. Or is it a bug they haven't/won't fix?

  • Full Screen Movies

    Hi;
    I have the following code in Python to display my movies:
    <object classid='clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000' width='%s' height='%s' id='Maya2012Main' name='Maya2012Main'>
    <param name='movie' value='Maya2012Main.swf'>
    <param name='allowfullscreen' value='true'>
    <param name='allowscriptaccess' value='always'>
    <param name="FlashVars" value="pg_name=%s" />
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
    <embed id='Maya2012Main'
            name='Maya2012Main'
            src='Maya2012Main.swf'
            width='%s'
            height='%s'
            FlashVars="pg_name=%s"
            pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
            type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
            allowscriptaccess='always'
            allowfullscreen='true'
    />
    </object>''' % (str(int(round(wn*1008))), str(int(round(wn*548))), page, str(int(round(wn*1008))), str(int(round(wn*548))), page)
    I test the requesting browser for the screen width, but this is not optimal. Isn't there a simple way to make width=100%?
    TIA,
    Beno

    Mmm.. Interesting... because I am using Firefox 2.0.0.4. I am
    also using Firefox 2.0.0.6 on my laptop like you are, and it seems
    to work fine. I guess it don't understand the technical details of
    why full screen will not work on Firefox. What I find interesting
    is that some of my full screen movies do work fine on 2.0.04. I
    wonder if it the Flash Version in which the full screen is
    published? I will try some further testing.
    I am concerned because there are likely many users of earlier
    Firefox versions, and I need to produce a full screen which will
    work no matter which Firefox Version you use.
    Thanks!

    Is your problem that the browser window refuses to display at
    full screen or is the Flash movie itself not showing at it's proper
    size? Knowing that would at least help us know where to look.

  • Full Screen movies do not work in Firefox

    Hi All,
    I am having a problem publishing Flash 8 movies full screen.
    They are fine in Internet Explorer. But Firefox crops the full
    screen so that you only see a portion of the full screen movie.
    I am using Firefox 2.0.0.4, as well as version 2.0.0.6 on my
    laptop. Can't get full screen to work in Firefox most of the time,
    but occasionally it seems to work. Is this a Firefox problem, or
    Captivate problem?
    An example, look at the full screen movie:

  • [Non IE Regression] Support for full screen mode with multiple monitors

    This seems to be a regression with Flash Player v11.2.202.x (for all other browsers).
    With Internet Explorer it is still working.

    == Support for full screen mode with multiple monitors ==
    Full screen content will remain in full-screen on secondary monitors, allowing users to watch full-screen content while working on another display.
    Tested on Windows 7 x64 SP1 with:
    - Internet Explorer 9
    - Firefox Release, Beta, Aurora, Nightly
    - Opera 12 build 1116
    In bugbase.adobe.com I cannot choose v11.2.x

    I don't want to set the windows forms to 'maximum'. This will make the buttons on the form looks mess.

    Hello Mingxu,
    Maybe you mean your project is a windows form application, and you deployed it with ClickOnce and get that installed, right?
    >>My Clickonce application can properly display on my working station (full screen), the problem is when it runs on this windows tablet, it can't be properly displayed for full screen.
    Which form has this issue, the one when you installing that application or the form you are running the application?
    I will based on the result to get the proper forum to help you, and if that is an issue about the form of your windows form application, then this is the right forum for your issue.
