Cursor doesn't work as it should

When I scroll or simply move the cursor it just doesn't want to listen to me most of the time. It jumps a little when I'm not anywhere near the trackpad, it jumps, doesn't move, moves slowly and jagged movements. all randomly happens at random times.
I've done all the 3 steps suggested through "trouble shooting" ( I forget what it was called) here on the site with no luck.
I have a feeling it is not a hardware problem as sometimes when I wisit certain websites it can get worse.
But then again sometimes it's totally unaffected and works like it should.
I don't know if this is related, but after 3 days with this annoyance, Finder keeps asking me for a password to make changes when I log on. I haven't done anything but to log on to provoke it.
I do have firevault on if it has any relevance to either issue.

Brand New everything but just doesn't work as it should

Just bought a £2000 HP Elitebook 2.8Ghz with 3gb ram, XP, and a lot a bells and whistles. Installed CS4 production Premium and then the updates for Premiere, Encore, Photoshop and Soundbooth.
Started a new project, connected my Panasonic HVX200 to import DVCPROHD 1080i50 footage - simple you would think.
Wont do it, locks up everytime.
Now I started using Premiere on version 5.1 many years ago but stopped using it on version 6 after getting sick of its crashing and instability.
I went over to FCP and it was a breath of fresh air to say the least.
When Premiere Pro first came out, I tested it on a brand new laptop, crashed within the first minute and that was the end of that !
After 5 years on virtually flawless FCP use I thought I'd try out Premiere again and guess what, nothings changed, it just doesn't work as it should.
How anyone on these forums makes any money from it and keeps their sanity is beyond me.

They must have corrected this oversight. I tried it out with the following TXT file, and indeed it no longer worked:

My iPod Nano doesn't work as it should...

I have just got my new iPod Nano. It's the 2gb model from the second generation. I was extremely happy, because it looks awesome and I thought that it would work same way.
The player is working perfect. Plays songs, really awesome.
But I have really BIG problems with iTunes. As I said I have got iPod today and everything is new and up-to-date - iTunes and I even somehow managed to update my iPod. Why somehow? I have extremely big problems with updating it. I think that it works okay now, but not at all. Everything is okay when I use an automatic system. I copy music I want to library, conect iPod then and everything copies perfect. The problems are starting when I try to manage iPod on my own - copy music etc. This simply doesn't work! When I try to change the system on non-automatic the error (-50) occurres and iPod cannot be updated. I even can't do this simple thing so there are no talks about deleting or copying music to iPod.
What can I do? That's simply driving me crazy :/
PS. Sorry for my English, but I'm from Poland. I don't know if the apple service exists here at all...

iTunes turns on automatically and the iPod is seen,
but it's not seen in "My Computer". Is that ok?
Since you have the iPod set at auto sync the ipod would not show in "My Computer" (someone correct me if I am wrong). If you were able to successfully switch it to manual it would show as it would be in disk mode. So I would say that this is ok.
I have done a search for the error -50 you keep getting and can't find anything. At this point I would suggest contacting Apple support to see if they can give you some insight on this error. One thing though...have you tried uninstalling iTunes from your computer completely and then re-installing it to make sure it's not an issue with your current copy of iTunes? Also, have you tried to go through the 5 R's?

If you have not gone through the 5 R's, please try that first and see if it helps. If not, then try un-installing and then re-installing iTunes. If that does not work, then it would probably be beneficial to call Apple Support.

When you restored, did you restore as a "new" device or from backup? If you restored as new, and still have the same issue, you most likely have a hardware problem. Go back to the Apple store to confirm.

Moving between open windows and cursor doesn't work

I have several open windows from several programs.
If I click on window 1 in program A, and then click on window 2 in program B, I expect the mac to switch to that window in program B.
But many times lately, in Tiger, that does not happen. I can click on the window, and the cursor does not work. Nor does the menu bar change. I can go back to window 1 and the cursor still does not work.
Only when I go to the dock, and click on the program icon does the window and cursor work properly.
This happens in Tiger. I don't recall having this behavior in any older OS X, OS 9, or other older version either.
This has happened on my iMac G5 and G4 tower. Is this a known problem?

This happens since I started using the Mighty mouse on both computers.

Call to Oracle stored procedure that returns ref cursor doesn't work

I'm trying to use an OData service operation with Entity Framework to call an Oracle stored procedure that takes an number as an input parameter and returns a ref cursor. The client is javascript so I'm using the rest console to test my endpoints. I have been able to successful call a regular Oracle stored procedure that takes a number parameter but doesn't return anything so I think I have the different component interactions correct. When I try calling the proc that has an ref cursor for the output I get the following an error "Invalid number or type of parameters". Here are my specifics:

I defined a function import for the stored procedure using the directions I found online by creating a new complex type. I don't know if I should be defining the input parameter, WindfarmId, in my app.config? If I should what would that format look like? I also don't know if I'm invoking the stored procedure correctly in my service operation? I'm testing everything through the rest console because the client consuming this information is written in javascript and expecting a json format. Any help is appreciated!

I am sending a POST request from a client applet to a Web server (a CGI made in Perl). I have checked the server code: it's all right. When I try to send a POST message I do this at the client:

Shouldn't I even be able to close the connection (http.close()) at this time and the message should have been sent? (I have even tried with the http.setDoInput(false) set).
Question 2: The message is really sent (I can't see why) when I do the getInputStream (!!) code.

The message is sent, as I was saying, and an answer is always, at least, sent from the server.
Question 3: Even further, I am having a third problem. Sometimes the getInputStream line seems to hang. Look: the message arrives fine to the web server, a message from thre web server to the client is received but the program keeps stuck on the getInputStreamLine. Why??
Question 4: For the previous problem (the important one), after craving and poring over this forum, I found a message that seems to explain that sometimes HttpURLConnection hangs (GetInputStream) (http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=4&thread=347082). I implemented a threaded solution for when the getInputStream hangs:
1) The main process open the getInputStream in a different thread.
2) The main process gets asleep for X seconds.
3) The child process opens the GetInputStream
4) The child process "awakes the main process.
5) Everythings keep going on.
This works: if the GetInputStream method gets stuck (step 3), its parent kill him. I show the client a fancy web page, equal to the one received if getInputStream wouldn't have stuck.
Nonetheless, if the message sent is too long (remember: they're long posts, usually 5 mb. or more long) it can happen that the parent kills the thread befor the message is sent (the message is sent with the getInputStream, remember?) So the process is killed before it really gets stuck and the fancy page telling that the message has been sent says nothing but lies!
Would you please help me? Excuse me, i have tried to do the shortest possible.

HttpURLConnection wasnt designed to send large chunks of data
part of a POST request is a header "Content-length", which can only be calculated when all the data has been assembled in a buffer (before anything is sent), must be that flushing and closing the OutputStream is not what the programmers use as a signal that all data has been declared (by you)
I would either use a Socket and work out th Http bit my self or write a CGI script that compiles the data in smaller chunks (~1k blocks), you could do this in a temp file on the server

When did Adobe decide to market a product that manifestly doesn't work? It should be so simple, but it's made so difficult. Even the process of getting help is a nightmare. How do I get a PDF converted?

How does anyone get a point over to Adobe? Not everyone needs or wants a bewildering range of product permutations. I bought the product to do just what it should - convert PDF to word. It worked once, I had the 'Welcome' email, and from then on, it's failed in every possible way. How many others using this forum have a similar experience?

I just bought the album Dark Eyes by Half Moon Run and I can't listen to half the songs because itunes is telling me that my computer is not authorized to play those songs. When I enter my account name and password it tells me that my computer is already authorized.
Apple suggest 4 ways to solve that problem. I did ALL of them, step by step, and it's STILL not working.
Before you ask, YES I have the latest itunes version (10.7.0.21).

If you're only getting that alert for some tracks on the album, that suggests that the tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.

I just installed the Adobe CS4 Master Collection on my new laptop. All of the Adobe applications work perfectly fine except for Photoshop. It tells me that my serial number was already used twice. What should I do?
It is letting me do a 30 day trial. But Photoshop is really the only Adobe app I need. With my luck, its the only one not working for me.

It appears that you have Activated PS on the two allowed machines already. You ARE allowed two Activations only. As has been pointed out, you can Deactivate one of those. Also, the EULA does allow Activation on two personal computers, but they may not be run at the same time - that goes for ALL of the components of any suite too, so you cannot run InDesign on one computer, while doing PS work on the other. [That one got me sometime back, and the Adobe Product Manager had to go to Adobe Legal, for a ruling. I had been breaking my EULA, though always try to follow that to the "letter of the law." Luckily for me, I had two separate (non-suite) stand-alone licenses for PS, and not used in any upgrade path, so once I Deactivated, uninstalled, reinstalled (from one of the stand-alones) and Activated, I was again "legal."]
If you HAVE only Activated on one personal computer, then there is a problem, and as Noel mentions, a call to Adobe Customer Support (not Technical Support), should be able to fix things quickly and painlessly.
Once, there was also a limit on the number of installations allowed, which could be reset by C/S, if exceeded. IIRC, that policy was discontinued, as of Feb, 2010. Still, there ARE limits on Activations, and only two copies of each program can be Activated at the same tim.

Library doesn't work as it should

A few days ago I wanted to build and install SFML on my fresh Arch Linux, so I downloaded the source from the github page, installed a few dependencies and built it with Cmake. I installed the library at /usr/local.
After I compiled a simple program using the libary, I noticed some strange behavior; if I wanted to draw text, it wasn't placed in the position I defined. The same problem occurred under Linux Mint 17, but on that system I was using the libsfml-dev package, and didn't compile it from source.
Thinking that the problem relied in the SFML library, I posted a topic in the SFML Forums. It turned out that the problem wasn't caused by SFML, but by Linux. A strange fact is that the problem didn't occurr to other users in the SFML forums. After I reinstalled my Mint 17, and avoided to install libsfml-dev, the problem didn't occurr and I thought that it was the fault of the libsfml-dev package.
So when I installed Arch Linux a few days ago, I didn't install SFML from the AUR, but downloaded and built SFML from Source instead. The strange thing is, that the problem now occurrs on Arch Linux, although it's freshly installed, and I built SFML from source. I tried to uninstall the library manually, and Install SFML from the AUR with yaourt, in the hope that this would fix my issue, but it didn't, so I uninstalled the SFML AUR package with the command yaourt -Rs sfml .(That command should have removed the package completely, shouldn't it?)
Does somebody have an idea what I could try in order to solve my problem?

It seems like that, for some reason, some space is left on top of the text, so that characters like "ê" can be displayed correctly. The weird thing is, that this problem didn't occurr to the other users in the SFML forums, whether they were using fedora or arch. Also, it worked for me, after I reinstalled Linux Mint 17 and built SFML from source directly, without installing the libsfml-dev package. Now this problem occurrs on my freshly installed arch linux, although I built SFML from source directly. In order to fix my issue, I tried to uninstall SFML and install the sfml package from the community repositories instead, with no luck; so I uninstalled the sfml package with yaourt -Rs sfml or pacman -Rs sfml (I don't remember which command I used).

Dear all, I would like to share with my issue. I got an IPad as a gift and started to use it... My happiness last one hour as after that on my eyes the screen started to show picture in green color and as if you watch TV with bad antenna. I would be happy to get this device back to the store, but there's a small issue. I'm located in Russia and to send it back to the store would be not easy. I wonder if I'm the only unlucky man with such a problem and are there any ideas if it is hardware or software problem. I assume it looks like bad connection between screen and main board... Please help! I would love to solve this issue ASAP. Maybe there's the way to test IPad hardware in a special mode...

I bought two iPads one week ago in Orlando Florida. I have been using one of them for a week with no problem. Last Sunday I return to my country (Argentina) and when I tried to sync my iPad with itunes, it was imposible. Tried everything but nothing happend. I think the usb internal chip of my ipad has a failure. Then I connect my other iPad. it worked fine for 20 minutes, and then i noticed the screen issue that you talk about. So I have two new iPads and both with technical failure. I am very dissapointed. The big problem is that I don't live in USA. So, what should i do??? Please, tell me if you find a way to get the iPad repaired. Thanks!
