Cursor flickers so badly that it is very difficult to select ANYTHING

On every web page, the cursor flickers on and off so badly that it is difficult and sometimes impossible to select anything - button, checkbox, whatever.
And, with reference to the pasted information below, I did not change or update any preferences. I simply had 2 add-ons disabled at installation of the new version of the browser.

Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

I just bought an ipod touch 4th generation recently, found that it is very difficult to plug and unplug the USB cable from my ipod. Does anyone have this problem?

Some of the Dock connector cables have very small buttons on the rounded adge of the plug, which need to be pushed in to release the plug from the iPod. Look at the picture below, do you notice the "button" on the white connector edge? There's one on the other edge too and they both need to be pressed in to release the "evil looking spike" sticking out of the grey edge.
The shorter plugs (that I've seen) do not have the release mechanism, the plug simply pulls out.

  • Your new web page makes it very difficult to find ANYTHING!

Since you have gone to your new home page, I have a very hard time doing ANYTHING! There is no search box and I have not found a way to get to most of the stuff I use such as Thunderbird. I regard it as user hostile.

Thank you for the solution (it also has a search box). It is interesting that this particular "arrow" is different that all the other double arrows on the page. Seems like web designers today believe they are designing some kind of computer game where people should click on everything in sight until they find something useful (Crystal Key anyone?).

  • ATV2 flickers so badly that I can barely get to Settings.

Thinking it would help, I updated to latest software. Still flickers terribly. Same on older Sony and new Samsung. I am not sure of the 720/1080 characteristic of either TV, but I think the Samsung is 1080. But should the Auto configuration resolve that issue?
Did upgrade make it not work? It used to work before. And the old Sony, my son's, used to work with his ATV. Is there a way to configure using a laptop and USB? The ATV with its remote on the TV is seen only 2 seconds out of 20.

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Cursor flickering rapidly on Equium A100-306

Having bought my new A100-306 laptop in December, I`m now having problems with the cursor flickering rapidly (and disappearing altogether when the mouse is not being moved) on certain 3D applications/games like The Sims 2 and Home Designer 3D.
I`ve downloaded the latest video driver for the intel 945GM graphics card, but there`s still no improvement. The problem is I can`t see where the mouse is unless I keep moving it and even then the rapid blinking is very annoying.
Would anyone know how to cure this problem please and if it`s a common problem with this model? As far as I can recall, we did have a week without trouble when we first loaded The Sims 2 originally.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Regards
    Giles

Thanks for the quick response. I don`t get the same problem with Windows, word, and excel. I too had a thought that the grahics card could be struggling, but I`m sure we didn`t have a problme with the Sims 2 when we first loaded it. Unfortunatley I don`t recall loading anything either on the day that the problem first appeared. Will try altering the settign as you suggest.
On a connected point, though, I clicked on Media Centre yesterday (hadn`t used this until now) and had real problems with the cursor again during the intial set up - sometimes it was there, sometimes it had vanished and the only way I could get it back was to wait for the icons at the top of the set up screen to disappear (which they tended to do after about 10 seconds of being displayed) and then hit the touchpad. Sometimes I had to try this 2 or 3 times to get a cursor to appear and even then it was a struggle to complete the set up process.

  • Cursor flickering (with video)

Got some really bad cursor flickering in InDesign CS 5.5 (also kind of happening in Photoshop)
I looked around and some people have suggested it's the mouse, but if it was the mouse it would be causing issues in other programs. Anyway, I recorded a video of it happening. Happens when I select different tools as well as when I mouse over some of the fields at the top of the window.

    Any thoughts?

Props to whoever can figure out what I'm designing based on that layout =)

My macbook pro is running very slow with some strange mouse and window movements. The trackpad is very unresponsive and when responding the cursor moves on its own and/or very erratically. When on safari the window suddenly zooms in or highlights words and looks them up via dictionary. I currently have a wireless mouse connected and I am still having the same problems.
I fee like I may have a virus or my laptop is perhaps being accessed remotely. All of the sharing options are unchecked.
    HELP PLEASE
    Very worried!!

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Mouse cursor flickers while moving around (all programs)

This problem started up about a month ago now.  Basically the cursor starts to flicker at random while I move it around the screen.  It doesn't fly all over the place as I've read other people's has, but it's pretty annoying and I can't figure out why it's happening.
At first I thought it was just happening in my internet browser (I mainly use Chrome) when I hovered over links, but now it happens in most programs.  It makes using Adobe Illustrator (I do some graphic design) very difficult because I can't see the contextual icons telling my what I'm hovering over.
It's also very random when it happens.  It doesn't do it over every link and sometimes it will do it only after I click on one.  Sometimes it will do it just as I move the cursor around the screen.  In Illustrator, for instance, it does it pretty much constantly.
My software is up to date, and I haven't been able to find anyone encountering the same issue as me.  Restarting doesn't make it go away, any thoughts?

I had the same problem, cursor seemingly randomly changing shapes as I moved it across the screen. Fortunately I was able to associate the start of the problem with some issues I was having with Flip4Mac that caused me to install a Flip4Mac upgrade.  After that the cursor started flipping out and I was getting these errors in the Console:
10/19/13 12:41:36.054 PM com.apple.qtkitserver[569]: objc[569]: Class TSSandboxPrefs is implemented in both /Library/Frameworks/TSLicense.framework/Versions/A/TSLicense and /Library/QuickTime/Flip4Mac WMV Import.component/Contents/MacOS/Flip4Mac WMV Import. One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.
10/19/13 12:42:17.783 PM com.apple.qtkittrustedmoviesservice[583]: objc[583]: Class TSSandboxPrefs is implemented in both /Library/Frameworks/TSLicense.framework/Versions/A/TSLicense and /Library/QuickTime/Flip4Mac WMV Import.component/Contents/MacOS/Flip4Mac WMV Import. One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.
I'm not positive, but I believe neither of those are needed anymore since FlipPlayer 3.0 has moved everything into the App Bundle.  Anyway, I deleted the folders:
    /Library/Frameworks/TSLicense.framework/
    /Library/Quicktime/Flip4Mac WMV Advanced.component
    /Library/Quicktime/Flip4Mac WMV Export.component
    /Library/Quicktime/Flip4Mac WMV Import.component
And then used the Flip4Mac uninstaller to uninstall Flip4Mac, then rebooted, and the problem went away.
I suspect this problem can be caused not only by these specific double definitions, but also by other QuickTime frameworks that are installed in two different places.
So check your console logs for warnings from qtkitserver and/or qtkittrustedmoviesservice logs and see if there is a problem you can resolve.

  • Screen flickering really bad after unplugging external monitor

    Hello,
Since I updated my Macbook Pro 13' Retina (inch, Early 2013) to Mavericks, almost averytime I unplug my external monitor or TV, the screen starts flickering really bad. This is the screenshot of the issue. Sometimes you can see all the apps opens, but the "flicker" effect takes over the screen, making it impossible to user the computer. The only way I found to use the compuer again is restarting it. It's really weird.

    Howdy inireugg,
We've an article that provides a host of helpful information and tips for resolving issues with displays.
No video or no signal, image distortion, "snow," or flickering
    Check connections
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
    Monitor and Display Adapter Table
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
Reset the systemYou can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolutionStart by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.

  • Ie cursor flickering problem

I am Facing a problem in Internet Explorer. The problem is that the  input box cursor flickering is horrible in ie only(the input is done in html and its embedded next to the flash). That is because of a swf file  embedded next to it. I got it fixed when i remove the WMODE="Transparent"  from the flash embedding code. But in my case the WMODE="Transparent" is  important to fix a button above the flash which loads a Modalbox.I guess the problem is due to the animation which is looping in a flash.when the animation stops, the cursor starts blinking normally.if any one have gone through this issue.. please help me out.
    thanks

  • Brush cursor flickering to arrow cursor

When painting with the paintbrush the cursor flickers between the round brush size cursor to an arrowhead.  The paintbrush continues painting as it should, but the cursor flickers constantly between the 2.  This is a visual annoyance but doesn't seem to affect performance.  Has anyone else had this happen and is there a possible fix?
I'm on Photoshop CS6 (latest updates) on 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 with OS X 10.6.8.

    Some additional details.
I usually have 2 or 3 files open while I work that are not set in tabs.  They are bascially open side by side.  I turn off tabs so I can see all 3 files at once.
The brush tool flickers UNLESS I click the file's window title bar.  When I paint I hold alt/option for the eyedropper to grab a color from my other open file then continue painting on my active working file.  I found this is when the cursor flickers until I click the title bar even though it is already the active file/window.  So pshop CS6 is confused that I have open files not in tabs.
The tool's cursor only flickers when in motion.
The flicker also goes away if I seat the files in tabs.
CS4 never had this problem (I skipped cs5/5.5 so do not know if it happened in that release).
*update* I'm testing working with 3 tabs open side x side rather than 3 floating windows - will reply with outcome after some time working.

Very many thanks to you, Putaro!  Your answer provided the solution. It was a buggy plug-in that turned out to be the culprit.
You're off the hook, Apple, and my apologies for stating that you let a dog run loose. You skated by this time, Apple. But I'm watching you.
But again, Putaro's reference to the plugins I had installed over the years turned out to illuminate the problem. I have several plugins in my iTunes plugins folder, pretty much all designed to add more visualizer functionality. I removed all of them, and ALL of the problems I noted in my post went away, with full iTunes functionality restored.
I began adding the plugins back to hopefully single out the culprit. Among the ones I had been using included fielder, G-Force, Timestrech, volcanokit, QuartzComposer, and Jax. I hadn't used any of them in a while - probably at least a verison or more back in iTunes updates, but iTunes continued to work with all of them installed. Currently, only QuartzComposer continues to work in iTunes 10.4. The rest no longer even show up as visualizer opitons, with one exception. Jax does show up, but does not work. AND THE PRESENCE OF JAX IS WHAT KILLED MY ITUNES.
I looked into it and went back to the developer, and it appears that they discontinued developing Jax some time ago - evidently, it was buggy and crash prone. I remember after buying it, having problems with it - having never worked to its touted potential, but I didn't pursue it, and never uninstalled it. Leaving it in there caused all iTunes functionality to cease with the iTunes 10.4 update.
If you've got Jax installed, consider removing it before updating to iTunes 10.4.
My iTunes is now working right as rain, thanks again to Putaro!
