Cursor location in screen share is different on both screens

When connecting from one laptop (Mavericks) to another laptop (Mountain Lion) the cursor in the screen share is in a different location than on the computer being shared. I have the ML laptop hooked up to a TV and use the Mav laptop to control it. The cursor on the Mav laptop does not match up with where the cursor is on my TV. Any way to fix the offset?

TC6.0.1 is very old.  I'd recommend that you upgrade your software to a newer version.  The newer releases have a number of bug fixes and changes which may assist in your configuration as well as some fixes for some major security vulnerabilities.
If you have an active service contract, you should be able to access the updated software on the Cisco Download Web Site.
If you don't have an active service contract, contact the TAC and, as per the "Customers Without Service Contracts" section under "Obtaining Fixed Software" in the Cisco Security Advisory cisco-sa-20140926-bash you should be able to get an upgrade to at least version TC7.2.1.

  • Screen Share issue!

Screen share works when i connect from my mac mini to my macbook, but the other way around, i can only access my file on my mac mini from my macbook, there is no option for screen share, even though i have screen share activated on both machines. vnc does not work either. Little help?

    Hi Harshini,
    Please help us help you.
You will need to give us some more information if you want the Community/LCCS team to help you with this issue,.
What is the issue exactly? How would you want this feature to behave?
Should it stretch the image of the shared screen to fill up the black space?
Wouldn't that create a new issue though? ("hey guys! the screen is stretched when the publisher/subscriber have different resolutions").
JG & I gave it a quick try with ConnectNow (my screen was at 1920x1200 pixels and his was at 800x600 pixels). ConnectNow is a web conferencing application that uses LCCS' screensharing feature (among other features).
Everything works as expected (if the resolutions are so far off, usually the person watching with the higher resolution will see some black space around the shared image).
    Thanks,
    Julien

  • I have a mack book air running lion. I want to screen share whats on my screen to apple tv .

i want to screen share whats on my laptop screen to apple tv ...websites especially

Unfortunately you cannot currently share the screen of a computer on the Apple TV.
The new operating system "mountain lion" reportedly offers this feature, but may be subject to some hardware restrictions, we will have to wait and see.

  • Can't screen share on local network

    Hi folks,
Seems like lots of problems are to be had with the iChat screen sharing. I've been looking through here and tried several options, but I don't seem to be able to get this working.
My MacPro 2x2.66 is sitting in the DMZ of my DSL Router and a brand new iMac is sitting behind the router's firewall, but on the same network. Both are running updated versions of Leopard. I've followed the instructions for NAT port forwarding on the router found here:
    http://web.mac.com/valsjo/personal/Start/Entries/2007/12/8iChat_screen_sharing_problemsolved.html
and also made the necessary changes to the Apple firewall (although I actually just have "accept all incoming connections" checked rather than listing iChat and my many other apps individually).
These two computers can't seem to screen share, however, with the dreaded "Screen sharing could not be established" error. Why is this happening when I'm on the same LAN?
Video chat appears to have similar problems.
    Thanks for your input,
    Aaron Genest

Have you tried Bonjour for screen sharing on your local network?
It works without problems on my local network, these are the settings that work for me:
Enable Bonjour messaging in iChat preferences>select use Bonjour instant messaging.
With iChat open select "enable screen sharing" from the top menu>video
In order to get it to work on my local network I had to disable screen sharing in Apple menu>System preferences>sharing.
The firewall settings are set to specifically allow the iChat application.
These settings should be set on all Mac's on your local network you wish to use iChat screen sharing with.
It might not work with a mac that has the file vault feature enabled.
My router settings are in default.

  • Can I play WMV files in a PPT using screen share?

Will the embedded WMV files in a PPT play correctly using screen share? My CEO has a presentation through Adobe Connect. We plan to screen share. Does this allow Connect to play WMV files? I've google over and over but I seem to get answers for file share instead.

If you convert the videos to MP4 or FLV you can upload them directly to  a share pod and play them back in the room. Please don't play videos through screen share for the following reasons:
Screen sharing runs at 3-5 Frames Per Second (FPS), while your video runs at around 30 FPS. Thus your attendees only see about 10% of the videos frames and that makes them look choppy.
No audio is broadcast through your screen share, it is just the image of your monitor.
Window's media player (the player most likely to play back WMV content) has anti-piracy stuff built into it, and it notorious for blocking the media from being capture by a screen recording application, which Connect's screen sharing functionality tends to fall into.
It will just make you and your attendees angry and frustrated.
Supported file types in the Share pod: PPT, PPTX, PNG, MP4, F4V, Adobe PDF, SWF, FLV, JPEG, and MP3 file types
To have a video embedded in your PPT that plays back in a Connect Meeting you will likely need Adobe Presenter 10

  • Screen share window size is wrong following Mavericks upgrade

Hi, I use screen share quite a bit, both over LAN but also over the internet and love the feature. I usually have no problems, but after the upgrade to Mavericks on my iMac and Mac Mini (Both 2011 models), I've started seeing problems with the window size of screen share.
Going from my Mavericks iMac to my Lion Macbook pro, there's no problem, and my imac shows a screen share window that is the resolution of the MBP (1440x900). But if I do screen share from my iMac (2550x1440), to my Mac mini (Which is attached by HDMI to a HDTV at 1920x1080), the window gets continuously smaller on each session, and it is now stuck at what I would guess is 320x240.
How can I change this size? I assume is has something to do with Mavericks horrible resolution handling, as I don't get a list of resolutions over HDMI anymore in System Preferences, which was nice and easy in pre-Mavericks OS'.

Thanks, using the zoom button did actually improve quite a bit. It is not full resolution, but almost twice the size it was before and definitely usefull, thanks! Never though about doing that..
Scaling manually doesnt work over the current max window resolution though.

  • Ideal screen share settings for control mode

    Hi LCCS Team,
I am using screen share in my app including screen view and screen control.
When an agent requests to control the screen of a customer, there is a noticable lag of 1+ seconds
between screen refreshes from what customers sees and what agent then sees. Sometimes it is more
than that. Where it gets even harded is when agent is trying to control customer's mouse and keyboard.
The lag makes it somewhat impossible to remote control.
Is there a specific setting that I should use in my code to optimize for control mode? If not, what
is the general setting that I should be using.
Lastly, are there limits on throughput between the client version of the app and the agent since
the data has to pass through LCCS cloud? Would that affect this?
    Thanks,
    Michael

In order to answer your questions, one would need audio and video specifications. 'The best export settings' depend on many things including the pixel size, the target video size...

  • Screen Saver runs only on Main Screen

My screen saver, programmed to display a montage of iPhotos on two screens, used to work fine but is now working only on the main screen. The second screen stays black and displays (in white letters), "Looking for pictures..."
    _I have not selected +*Main Screen Only*+ in +Screen Saver+ Preferences._
If I click on the Test button in +Screen Saver+ Preferences, the screen saver photos appear on both screens, but if the screen saver activates on its own, or if I activate it from a hot corner, the photos appear only on the main screen. Anybody know what's up?

It's a bug in 10.5.6. What you should do is make export a copy of your photos that you want displayed from iPhoto to a folder. Put that folder wherever you want, probably ~/Pictures
Then tell the screen saver app to pull the images from there and it will work again on both of your displays. Very annoying.

  • CAN'T SCREEN SHARE! TRIED EVERYTHING! PLEASE HELP!

My girlfriend just got a new Macbook and I've been helping her set it up across campus though our network at my university. It worked fine and then one day it didn't. Every time she asks or I ask to share her screen it gives this error to both of us:
"Failed to start Screen Sharing because: Screen sharing could not be established."
I've been reading discussions on how to fix this for 2 weeks now and nothing has seemed to work. What is weird though is that I can screen share PERFECTLY with my Uncle who lives in Wisconsin (I am in Arkansas) from campus. However, I can't seem to connect to my girlfriend's computer who is simply just a few buildings away.
The following is what we've tried:
    1. Switch from wired to wireless network
    2. *Set "System Prefs>Quicktime>Streaming" to "1.5 Mbps T1/Intranet/LAN"
    3. *Set "iChat Prefs>Audio/Video>Bandwidth Limit to both "500" and "None"
    4. *Both computers have a firewall set to "Allow all incoming connections"
    5. *When #4 didn't work we set firewall to "Set access for specific services and applications > iChat.app set to "Allow incoming connections"
    6. Rebooted both Macs
    7. Deleted all com.apple.iChat.X.plist files and started over fresh
    8. *Enabled "Screen Sharing" in System Prefs>Sharing
    *Restarted iChat afterwards
I think that's all. It is just really frustrating because I can screen share with someone clear across the nation but not someone who is on my same network. The only difference is that she is using a Gmail account through AOL and I am using a @me.com address. I thought maybe Gmail wasn't working so I had her switch to an AOL account and still same error.
We cannot port forward for obvious reasons at school but it worked before and nothing on the firewall has changed. I work at the IT department at our university and spoke with the person who runs the Firewall and supposedly there are no blocked ports on the part of the network we use. I know with iChat 4 in Leopard it doesn't use a specific port, it bounces around until it finds one according to article regarding port forwarding and NAT routers and iChat.
The weird part is that when we are both off campus (different houses) and try it, Screen Sharing tries to start, she gets the big words across her screen ("Screen Sharing Started" I think...) and we can hear about 5 seconds of audio and then it errors out again. I really want to get this working can someone please tell me how? This is really frustrating.
    Thanks,
    -jg

    Hi,
First off from reading this it should be an AIM valid name (@mac.com, AIM or @me.com) to AIM valid name or
a Jabber valid name (which includes Googletalk valid Gmail IDs) to another Jabber valid name
(that is both should be using the same type of Buddy list)
As you say the Apple Doc on this is not clear on the Screen Sharing part - listing only the changes to the AV ports compared to the Previous Doc (Now article HT1507). It does not mention the Screen Sharing at all.
Reading around suggests the Screen Sharing is based on Apple Remote Desktop and reading the com.apple.ichatAgent.plist with QuickLook shows a reference to a ARD link/process. (the same can be seen if you install Developers Tools from the Install disk which will give you Property List Editor which will open the .plist files).
The Article TS16929 (Previously Doc 106439 shows that Apple Remote Desktop uses port 5900 and 5988.
Having said that though I run Little Snitch, an application that monitors and reports which IPs and Ports and application is trying to use. This shows me a completely random port in the 15xxx range along side the AV port 16402 for the Audio component. It maybe that Apple Remote Desktop also moves to a random port after it has established a connection.
Most people fail on the Audio part and get the standard Log Pop up screen to send or not to Apple - BUT you clearly have the other message...
"Failed to start Screen Sharing because: Screen sharing could not be established."
.... which is unrelated to the Audio part.
This would clearly put things in to the realms of a firewall or setting issue with possibly modem/router or LAN features getting in the way. (Leaving aside ISP related things for the moment).
You say iChat is in the Allowed Specifics List in the Leopard Firewall.
You say that nothing has changed on the Campus Firewall and can connect Off-site form On-site so it would seem not to be there.
On this last issue, check if they have introduced a Streaming cap on Intra-Site links. They may be trying to prevent other things such as Peer-to-Peer File Sharing or thing like everyone sharing their iTunes Libraries and other similar activities. The ability to Share Optical Drives re MacBook Airs maybe a factor.
I would tend to look towards your girlfriend's Mac.
Since iChat 2 it seems that some failed chats seem to hold on to ports or have some hold over the Network going on.
It seems most common when in System Preferences > Network the drop down at the top listing "Location" is left at the Automatic Default.
There are essentially two fixes for this.
    1) Set up another Location and copy the settings across and switch between the two to force the Network to re-establish itself.
2)A longer way of clearing what is going on.
    a) Shut any Airport card down if using WiFi
    b) Shut down the computer.
    c) Disconnect any Ethernet cable from either Computer or routing device (whichever is easier to reach but leave the routing device still connected to the Internet - just isolate the computer from the Internet)
    d) Restart the computer (this is with no Internet Connection)
    e) Restart iChat.
    f) Restart Airport card or plug in Ethernet cable.
    g) Using the Buddy List, select Available and make iChat Login (can also be done from the iChat Menu (> Accounts submenu in iChat 4)
On your last paragraph I would ask if you can Video chat at this set of locations ?
This is because in this scenario a feature of one of the modems may be an issue.
Some modems and routers have DOS (Denial of Service) or SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) protection. These tend to be threshold based and have no setting control in the devices set up pages (other than On or Off).
iChat can stream so much data, particularly in Video chats over what are now quite high Internet speeds that a DOS feature will consider it an Internet attack and cut the port involved. SPI tends to be judging whether the data stream is valid and does not seem to keep up and the result is the same.
In Video chats the end that has the Problem tends to get a Error -7 In the Log.
The Other end gets the "No Data for 10 Secs" message.
    Summary.
Essentially though as you have tried a deletion of all the .plists for iChat and you imply both ends it is more likely something about the Network or how the Mac thinks Network resources are already allocated.
There is not an easy .plist deletion for this hence the two methods listed above.
NOTEs: 1) #8 in your list is not related to iChat.
This is what you can now use of Apple Remote Desktop itself. It has it's own Screen Sharing app (without Audio like iChat) that is invoked from the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Serve and entering a VCN:// IP address. (As a System Application, as it were, it is in /System/Core Services/Screen Sharing.app)
It does need both Macs to have the Setting Enabled as you have done it #8 though
    2) Some ISPs it is suggested block Screen Sharing. (Verizon was the name I heard mentioned). How they tell what the data steam is specifically I do not know as it would seem that the Audio part of an iChat Screen share would make it look like an A/V chat and that Apple Remote Desktop must be a valid way of working for some people. However iChat is Peer-to-Peer in AV chats and Screen Sharing and some ISPs are known to actively work against these file sharing apps that bear the same generic term.
In your case I do not think this applies as you can Connect Off site via whatever ISP your Campus uses.
    I hope this helps.

  • Cursor location & action tracking data

I've asked this same question in another forum, but I am still unable to locate the answer that I am looking for. Basically I am wanting to extract the cursor location information that Adobe Connect uses to properly display a presenter's mouse movements during the playback of a recorded session. If I download a local ZIP file of a recording and examine all of the XML files, none of them seem to relate to the mouse's location over time. I've even looked at all of the metadata that is embedded into each of the FLV files. No such luck there either.
I know this data is being saved because the cursor actions are overlaid/replayed during a server-side playback of a recording, but it does not get included in the XML files of the ZIP when downloading a local copy. Does anyone have a thought as to where I can pull this data? I have nearly 50 recording sessions that I need to access this data for.
    Thanks for any help!
    -Bill

    Jaydeep-
Thanks for the clarification on the types of cursor data. In my particular instance, I am interested in the first method that you described.
With the work that we do for our recordings, we have already worked out a process for extracting the necessary mouse data from the XML files based on the second method that you described.
During my testing, I recorded a very simple screen share where I move the cursor to each corner of my screen and clicked in each corner, and then moved to the center and clicked. I was hoping to be able to use this recording to decifer the mouse actions, in particular the mouse clicks, and generate a text file that had a time stamp for each click. If that data is somehow stored within the screenshare_x_x.flv, I guess I am asking for a method to extract that data from the FLV. Any thoughts on how I might go about that?
I appreciate any further help you might be able to provide.
The URL for the demo recording that I set up is:  http://ibmstg.adobeconnect.com/p57wu7mx0xb/
    Thanks again!

  • I'm trying to use Mountain Lion Server so my family can have separate logins via Screen Share to their iTunes.

Using Mountain Lion Server so my family can have separate logins and connect via Screen Share.
Works great, each has their own home directory and permissions are perfect.
Now setting up iTunes for each with their own Library (not shared), thus keeping multiple Libraries.
    I get this;
This Computer is already associated with an Apple ID.
If you download past purchases with your Apple ID, you
cannot auto-download past purchases with a different
    Apple ID for 90 days.
    What!
So what it is on the same computer, they are completely separate Libraries never to be mixed.
If this works, I only need to keep one computer up and running, instead of three.
Each can do their syncing/backup and connect to the various Airplay/AppleTVs I have around the house.
    How do I fix this.
    Thanks

Bottom line is you can't - easily.
You need to make sure that you log out of the server each time otherwise the ID is running. To explain, if you had a laptop with different people using it, your solution works fine. Each time someone logs in, the iTunes ID is different so it works as you can only have one person using the laptop at any one time.
Now, turning your problem inside-out, you want people to be able to log into iTunes concurrently to use their own version of the program with their own library. This does not seem to work and you get the conflicted ID error message. Even though iTunes is running under their own login ident, I have never been able to get this working reliably and was told that iTunes is NOT a network-aware application as it is designed to be single user.
The way I got around this was to login as XYZ and to make sure that the ID was changed in iTunes accordingly. However, it did not always work so I gave up with the whole thing.

  • No Video, No Screen share, No idea how to use it.

I have only ever used iChat to msg back and forth with friends overseas. However, in the last few years I have converted my whole family to Apple and they want to start video chatting. I have read countless discussions and maybe I'm not looking in the right area because really I have no idea how to look for an answer when I not sure what the right question is.
So here is my question. How do I set this thing up? I do not know that much about routers and ports and all that but I will list what I have and maybe someone can help me out. I as well as the rest of my family have iChat4.0.7 and Running 10.5.6 for the OS. I am hooked up to the internet via wireless router Lynksys WRT350N. I know how to set the router up so that it's not broadcasting it's name and so it has a hefty password but that's about it. When it comes to ports and know where to type in TCP 5190, 5220, 5222, 5223, 5298 or UDP 5190, 5297, 5298, 5353, 5678, 16393-16402 I have no clue.
I log onto ichat via AIM and Google. For my Google it is connected to talk.google.com for the server out port 5223 and use SSL is checked as far as AIM the server it slogin.oscar.aol.com port 5190 and use SSL is checked.
By the way I can share screens with my wife in house on the same router but not otherwise.
I used to be able to share screens and log onto my edit suite across town when I had to remotely help another editor but now when I bought my new MacBook Pro I can not do that anymore. This might be a completely different topic that should be listed under a share screen discussion board... not found that one yet.
If more information is needed please let me know and I would be glad to give what I know to fix this. It really should not be this hard but for me it seems to have stumped me really good.

    Ok,
There are different methods of opening ports or allowing applications to use ports in a modem or router.
AS you want to Screen Share then it would be best to use UPnP (Universal Plug n Play).
Te Linksys will have this in the Adminstration page of it's set up page s that you can access in a web browser.
Use these Instructions only as far as gaining access then go to the Administration page/tab.
    Enable UPnP
Go to the Security tab and Allow it to Respond to Anonymous Pings
Lets us know when you have done that.

  • Can't access the web but can screen share and secure shell on my network???

    Hi,
I don't know if this is relevant, but I installed a security patch along with a safari patch the other day and the next morning, I could not access the internet, however I can do things like screen share and ssh. I cannot however view internal websites on my network, whether I'm connected via airport or ethernet cable (attached to either time capsule or the modem directly). Whenever I try to go to a website in either firefox or Safari, I get a message saying I'm not connected to the internet and a "Network Diagnostics" button (which says it cannot fix my problem). Here is what I've tried:
    -Repair Disk (everything OK)
    -Repair Permissions
    -Restart computer
-Turn Airport card off then on
-Restart modem and routers, one by one in daisy chain order (and then restarted computer)
    -Tried different browsers
-Tried connecting directly to modem via Ethernet cable in addition to wireless
-Restored the System from a time-capsule backup from Sept. 6th (noticed the problem on the 10th)
    -Turned off my firewall
-Created a new user account and tried it
-Let my computer remain off for a half hour
    -Zapped the p-ram
    Here's what I've confirmed I CAN'T do:
-Access the web via either Safari or firefox (haven't tried any other browsers)
    -Access the Software Update Server
-My iCal calendars cannot access the webdav server
Surprisingly, here's what I've confirmed I CAN do:
-Ping other computers on my network
-Use the Screen Sharing App. with computers on my network
-Access the internet from every other computer on my network (4 of them)
-ssh to other computers on my network
I've been using my computer infrequently lately, and I'm not sure when the last time was I accessed the internet or for that matter when I performed the security patching, but I'm pretty sure it was within the last week and a half. I really don't want to try restoring from an earlier backup, but I'm reaching the end of my rope. Anyone have any other ideas? I'm fresh out.
    Rob

The problem was either the Security Patch 2010-005 or the Safari update (though I don't have the version number in front of me). Note, I had ignored the iTunes 10 update. I assume that I must have miscalculated the date I performed the updates because the problem persisted after restore from a Sept. 6th backup off my time capsule.
I went to the Apple Store and they were able to restore full internet access by performing a 10.5.8 combo-update. When we ran Software Update at the Apple Store, the 3 updates were again there available for download, but I am going to ignore them all because of this issue. The people at the apple store agreed that it was the update which caused the problem.

  • Suddenly can't connect to shared computers or screen share

For some reason I can no longer connect to my shared computers. I can however connect to MY computer from my shared computers, if that makes sense.
From my own computer, when I go to my shared list in the finder, I click on a computer (normally it all automatically connects because I have the password remembered), I click "connect as" and I never get any response, sometimes a "connection failed" I know file sharing is enabled on all computers.
Is there a way to refresh my list? What can I do to reconnect to my shared computers? This seems to have been happenings since I last updated the OS.
Also, I can no longer do a screen share where I was doing this regularly every day.
    Thanks
    Dan

  • Since updating to Lion I can no longer screen share on Snow Leopard

    Hi all,
I'm hoping someone might have some insight to the problem I'm experiencing with Screen Sharing.  I have two macs that I use - one is a Mac Mini 2010 Server model running Snow Leopard.  The other is a MacBook that is running Lion.
Since updating to Lion on the notebook, I can no longer access screen sharing through the Mac mini to the MacBook (Can't see the Lion screen through the computer with snow leopard).  I AM able to screen share the other way (see the snow leopard screen through the macbook running Lion).
It's aggrivating, in as much as these computers are on two different floors of my company, and being able to see the screen makes life easier.
I should also point out that I am able to successfully share the hard drives / files between both computers going back and forth (Snow Leopard to Lion and Lion to Snow Leopard) - it's just the screen sharing that no longer functions.  When I attempt to access the other computer screen it will act like it is signing in but just hangs and does nothing.
I know there is probably much more information that someone will need to help me solve this, but I don't know where to look.  But I'm hoping that with at least this much information you might be able to tell me where to look to get this corrected.
    Much thanks.

    If you want.
or maybe install Snow Leopard using the disc it came on with my Mac and just set it up from a Time Machine Backup on my external hard drive (since it works under SL)?
Did you install Lion on an empty partition, or did you upgrade Snow Leopard?  If you upgraded, I'd not recommend erasing it, since your backups are apparently gone.  It's doubtful Snow Leopard will recognize them.
It's not just backups on the drive either, there are other important things on there, so why won't they show?
Mixing Time Machine backups and other data is not a good idea.  See #3 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  It sounds like the whole disk is corrupted.
I just really don't understand how this happened. Could it not be an issue with WD because they haven't issued firmware to support Lion yet?
If this is a simple external HD, connected by USB or FireWire, no, unless you installed some of WD's software on it.  That shouldn't prevent it from being seen at all, but anything's possible.
