Cursor/Mouse trails in FMR

I am doing a software tour in Captivate, and for a number of reasons have to use FMR. After publishing there are gray marks that appear in the path of the mouse cursor as it moves around the screen. I've tried changing the quality settings and frame rate but nothing helps. This is a deal breaker with my client, so I'd like to get this fixed or I'll have to use Camtasia, which I'd rather not do since we already have Captivate licenses.

Something I found to work in removing these ghost lines is to turn off Advanced Project Compression.
I first turned off all compression options, then progressively turned them back on again and publish after each change to find which one was causing the issue.  I found Advanced Project Compression cannot be used with FMV otherwise you get ghost lines.  But they disappeared as soon as I turned this off.
See if this works for you.

  • Advanced mouse trail!?

    Hello!
    I found this really nice portfolio and was wondering if anyone knew how to create the mouse trail effect in the very beginning.
    http://www.mac-design.org/macdesign.html
    I checked out some mouse trail tutorials online but can't seem to find the same effect.
    Any information or ideas will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Thanks for the quick reply kglad!
    All the tutorials that I've seen follows the mouse in a set motion where this one seems to be random.  I like how the "click" flows off of the cursor in all different ways.  At first I just thought it circled off the cursor following a single path but it changes depending on the movement.  I'm sure its just a more advanced version of the tutorials that I have seen but I can't seem to make it work.  Sorry I'm kinda new to all of this so I might be missing something really simple.

    jpmarkques post is a good start point, after folling his directions, you can try detect displays. Also try different rsolution and refresh rates.
    Most of the projectors I have used support a 1024X768 res.
    Youcan also try a pram reset if it still does not detect.
    Leave theproctor connected and powered up, power down the MBP.
    Power back up the MBP and hold the following keys before you hear the start up chime:
    Option, command, P,R (no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start up chime 2 times.

  • Cursor mouse error

    Hello!
    I have a problem with photoshop cs4 cursor mouse. When I click, the click isn't exactly where I had clicked. Is more down.
    What can I do?
    Tks!

    Hi Pedro, this has been discussed before at this forum. A short summary: The problem occurs when you are in full screen mode and the rulers are visible. When you open a document or a Smart Object or create a new document the cursor is displaced by about 10 pixels. You get rid of the problem by hitting the f-key. This changes the screen mode and forces Photoshop to redraw the screen.
    This seems to be independent from the graphic card you use, so I assume this is a bug and hope that Adobe will correct it soon.

  • With Standard Labview 6.1, is there a way to set (x,y) cursor-mouse position?

    I am working on a project in standard Labview 6.1 that receives images from a webcam. This image array will then be analyzed to determine the position of a black dot on a white background. This dot will then correspond to an (x,y) coordinate point. We will then feed these coordinates into a program that will set the cursor mouse position to this point. However, we are uncertain on how to interface Labview with the computer mouse controls and are in need of assistance.

    If you are simply wanting to set the coordinates of an existing cursor on a LabVIEW graph, then you can do that using Property Nodes. I have attached an example of this which you could take a look at.

  • Mouse trails showing on playback

    I've just created a software simulation using Full Motion
    Recording. When I previewed it prior to publishing everything
    looked OK. After publishing the recording, everything still looked
    OK on viewing the output within Captivate; however, when I open the
    .swf in a browser I'm seeing mouse trails that remain on-screen.
    Has this ever happened to anyone else?

    Hi,
    When you view in a browser, are you calling the .html file
    and not just the .swf? If you just call the .swf it loses it's
    crispness when displayed in a browser, it should sit inside the
    .html file (select publish html in publish settings)
    If you have already done this, then my next suggestion would
    be re-publish the file but this time include a small border skin
    (Project>Skin) either at the top or bottom of the file. I had
    this myself and found that including a small border skin made the
    mouse trails vanish.

  • Mouse trails and static noise - video refresh problem?

    I get mouse trails that don't refresh away and static noise when I click and drag.
    In most apps that allow scrolling, like safari. I will get a small box on the screen that will create a trail of that small square all the way down my screen. It looks like a trail. Also if I click on a window and move it I get a static noise. The noise sounds like little crickets. Any ideas? I am thinking about spending money to upgrade this box and am worried I may be throwing money away.

    Great news. Original owner upgraded the graphics card on this machine when he bought a new monitor. He had the original nvidia fx 5200 which I promptly installed, replacing the ATI Radeon 9600. Problem solved. I still hear the noise when I drag the windows around, not sure why but there are no more mouse trails. It was the graphics card!

  • Screen not refreshing properly, cursor leaves trail, also no sleep!

    I have had a series of problems with my old G4. Most of which I have dealt with. I will describe them at the end in case they are relevant to the 2 issues I am still trying to solve. So here goes:
    When I open a new program or new window within a program, wherever the cursor was resting, a small square, about an 1/8th of an inch on a side, remains from whatever window was open before.
    Also, if I use my track ball on my Apple mouse, I get a trail of such squares, dragged from where the cursor started.
    I checked the refresh rate setting in System Preferences/Displays and the refresh rate dialog box is grayed out, saying n/a. Also the only resolution option listed is 1280 x 1024. There used to be several options listed there.
    Second problem is that computer will not go to sleep-- at all. I have to shut it down each evening instead. I have had problems with it not waking up and running regular maintenance (Onyx) solved that. But the sleep problem began after I did a number of fixes-- listed below...
    Now the background in case any of it is relevant:
    A few weeks ago, I was having program crashes. First iTunes would begin to open and immediately close. Then this started to happen with Word and also Safari was running for a while and then crashing often.
    I was looking for help with these when I started having other problems. My display started, after the computer was inactive for a while, flashing on and off, instead of going to sleep. Simply touching a key would stop this.
    I did an Archive and Install of the OS, after backing up all my data. And this eliminated the program crashes and the flashing display syndrome.
    but a few days later my G4 started to turn itself off after running for a half hour or hour. I could then start it up and it would shut down by itself after a few minutes. Suspecting over-heating, I opened it up and found that the CPU heatsink fan was dead.
    I replaced that fan with the 120mm model recommended on many discussion boards-- Silenx 120X38MM FanIXP-76-18 R... Had to play around with the power connection to the motherboard and splice some wires but all seemed to work well and my CPU temp runs around 62 or 63, hard drive is at 39 (celsius obviously). I think these temps are okay-- but I do not know what the machine temperatures were before as I only added the istat widget after the ran replacement.
    so the machine is working again but there is this funny cursor trail artifact and the sleep problem. Maybe the heat damaged the video card? I don't know how to check this. Maybe the fan is causing the sleep issue?
    I love my old machine and have edited a lot of video on it. I would very much like to keep it going! Thanks for your attention to this.
    Joe

    One question.. How long does the cpu fan usually last for? I have had my machine for about 1 year now, though the original owner has had it for a few years before he posted it up on craigslist.
    I was just wondering so that I won't have a problem finding a replacement fan.

  • Cursor Mouse Over on Frame (Container) Reveals Frame Edges

    I just installed InDesign CS5 and everything is fine, but there is a set preference that I want to remove that causes the edges of the Frame(s) (or Containers) to light up as I move my mouse cursor over them.
    I personally find this really annoying and can't seem to find a way to turn that default setting off.
    Any advice?

    Any advice?
    Learn to live with it.
    Seriously, you can't turn it off, though it apparently doesn't show in Presentation mode. I think eventuyally you get used to it, and even come to like it. I find it pretty handy now and then.

  • Cursor/Mouse Freeze on Display

    The mouse cursor is freezing momentarily before resuming. I have changed ports and plugged in another mouse (used) and it still happens.
    I am running 10.4.11 on an eMac G4

    Is the other mouse known-good (i.e., it operates OK on another Mac or PC)?
    Have you recently added something like an external HD containing a large number of files? The pausing may be Spotlight indexing the volume in the background.
    To check if there's a background process chewing up CPU cycles, open Activity Monitor and view all processes by %CPU usage and see if you can spot anything unusual. It may be easier to just Start Up in Safe Mode to disable extensions and see if the mouse performs better then.

  • Cursor/Mouse is stuck in top left hand corner by apple icon HELP

    My cursor is stuck in the upper left hand corner and will not budge. I've restarted from the OS disk, looked at system profiler - usb profile and the mouse appears. This means it should be software related, not hardware related. I've restarted the cpu multiple times logging in under differnt users and have replaced the mouse & keyboard it's attached too with backups. NOTHING WORKS! My mouse is stuck in the top left hand corner barely touching the apple icon. When I click the mouse, the drop down menu appears so it is communicating with the cpu. However it just will not move/track anywhere! I'm an almost 20 yr mac user having survived a few 'sad mac' faces in the Mac Classic, Performa, & 8100 days, but have never run across something like this before.
    HELP PLEASE!!! Would love to know a fix for this, or even what has caused it. In lieu of that I suppose I'd be okay with re-installing my system software as all programs & sensative info is on a seperate HD.
    FYI I can't reinstall by rebooting via OS disc because the mouse doesn't work. Any help here?
    FYI I do not have (not sure what it's called exactly) the function/preference turned on which allows me to move the cursor with the keyboard & can't get it turned on now as I can't navigate the system preferences windows in a functional manner.
    Thanks & PLEASE HELP,
    Phillip

    Phillip,
    I had this problem recently with a 3-year old Mac Pro intel, which was eventually replaced by Apple due to myriad other problems. When the frozen mouse happened, there was nothing I could do. Very frustrating to have the screen boot and the cursor is up there stuck, on the top left corner of the screen. Frozen. I called support several times. They were amazed. At one point they had me buy a cheap USB mouse (I was using a wireless mouse from Logitech and they thought there might be some kind of conflict). The USB mouse didn't work, either. Neither did an Apple mouse when I went out to buy one.
    I ended up driving 70 miles to take the Mac to an Apple Store. I think they reinstalled the (Leopard) system in some secret way, because when the mouse was frozen so was everything else and I couldn't open the disk drive to put the OSX disk in there.
    Why I'm here right now is that the same thing happened today with my NEW 3-month-old REPLACEMENT MAC PRO using its brand new wireless mouse, and I was hoping to find some insight. Again, a frozen cursor after the boot. Same top-left corner of the screen. Unlike you, when I click the mouse nothing happens -- no drop down.
    Luckily, when I hard-rebooted by holding the button in, the mouse cursor came back. This time. Now I am afraid to turn my computer off. Been there done that before. Anyone have suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Smooth a mouse trail?

    Is there a simple way to smooth this particle trail? The mouse needs to be dragged back and forth quickly in my game a lot. And this more or less drops clumps of the particle whereas I would like it to constantly emit and follow my mouse. I would appreciate any input! Thank you!

              doTrail(container, mouseX, mouseY);
    function ptEnterFrame(evt:Event):void {
              evt.target.scaleX +=  evt.target.speed/100;
              evt.target.scaleY +=  evt.target.speed/100;

              if (evt.target.alpha <= 0) {
                        evt.target.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, ptEnterFrame);
                        container.removeChild(DisplayObject(evt.target));
              if (fireMC.width == 300) {
                        evt.target.alpha = 0;

    if you're making an air app you can use cacheAsBitmap and cachAsBitmapMatrix to improve performance.  otherwise, you'll need to make some compromises to improve performance

  • Web pages slow to load with IE11 and the cursor/mouse is very slow to work until after page loads

    Web pages are very slow to load, I hve run Norton Eraser and found no issues that would cause this

    New HP Pavilion three weeks ago.  After several attempts by the 'experts' I finally got a straight answer from a tech in the Philipines yesterday, 01-29-2015.  HP and Microsoft are working to resolve the issue of slow pages and a dead cursor until the next page finally loads.  You may have discovered that Google Chrome DOES NOT have this issue.  Comments about HP would not be allowed here so I will just say, use Chrome until the issue with IE 11 is resolved.
