Cursor Pointer not moving via KeyPad

All of a sudden my touchpad isn't working. My cursor won't move using it. Even the 2 buttons on it won't work either. I don't have a button that  turns it on and off like my last computer so I have no idea why it did this all of a sudden.
Any ideas on how to get it to work again? I had to dig out my mouse which works thank goodness.
Thanks!
Heather

I was having this same issue on a Windows 8 Toshiba Satellite laptop. I noticed that the F5 key had a picture of a touchpad and a touchpad with a slash through it. I had accidentally pressed that! It turns off your touchpad. I pressed it again and it was working again.

hi i;m using macbook pro . magic mouse pointer not moving, but do all the rest of things

thank you, i have tried you suggestion but it is still just prompting me to restart rather than allowing me to install the os from the os boot disk. the problem began when the macbook was just showing me a folder icon with a question mark on it rather than starting normally. reading through forums lead me to replace the hard drive and hard drive data cable to try and resolve the issue. however, even after having done this the folder with the question mark is still appearing. i cannot get the os istall disk to boot properly. it recognises that the disk is in the drive but continually prompts me to restart and wont allow me to boot from the disk. sorry if my previouse discription wasnt accurate. does this soun familliar and can you help with this more detailed discription of the problem? thank you.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Pointer not moving

Need some advice. My 7 month old IMAC wireless mighty mouse is scrolling fine but does not move the pointer...can someone help? Thanks!

    Hi Rich:
That file is located in Macintosh HD>library>preferences. Sometimes (rare, but it happens) preference files become corrupted - causing all sorts of odd behavior.
If that does not help, try resetting the PRAM:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If that does not fix the problem, take the mouse to an Apple store or call Applecare and indicate you have a warranty issue. Apple does replace things under warranty at no cost (shipping paid both ways). I have had a mouse and keyboard replaced in the past and was pleased with the service.

  • Tone Curve beginning & end points - not moving

I am not the most technical guy in the world so I'll try to explain this as best as I can. In LR 4, why am I not able to drag the Tone Curve points up and down at the very start and end of the of the graph like in LR 3? I can drag them up and down everywhere except at the start and end points of the axis. This is one of my most used editing areas so it's quite disappointing and I can't get the result I want in LR 4. I have presets from LR 3 that can change the starting point on the tone curve but I can't fine tune it. Hopefully I explained this well enough because I would love some help on this. Cheers.

I think it's normal behaviour as per:
When you try to move vertically , the curve follows the lighter grey shape: this is region editing.
To do point curve editing  click on the little graph curve and then you can do what you want, as per:

  • The latest flash plugin 10.3.181.34 makes my mouse pointer disappear when pointer not moving (Windows Vista) - any thoughts?

When I start firefox 6.0 beta, the mouse pointer disappears once firefox has initialized itself. If I move the mouse pointer, it reappears, then disappears again when it is at rest.
If I disable the flash plugin, the mouse pointer behaves normally, i.e. it is always visible.

Firefox 5.0 does the same thing as stated above.

  • Once again, the dredded exclamation point has popped up next to several of my songs. I have not deleted anything, have not moved anything; all I did was try to sync my phone, which I have not done in a few months. Please help

I have found that the exclamation point is back next to several of my songs. I have not moved any files, or deleted any files. I need help so that I can figure this out and have my music back on my iPhone. I can play it on my Mac just fine, and it says it is all on my phone, but I see this ! Next to most of the songs and I have about 8 GB less than before. Someone please help me solve this issue, something that I thought Apple would have been rid of by now. Again, please help me.

Okay, I followed the step from another support community:
    1. Open Finder
    2. From the side bar, click the home folder
    3. Go to MUSIC>iTUNES>iTUNES MEDIA
    4. Open the corresponding folder for the folder type you're looking for. The contents of the folder will be listed in alphabetical order. Depending on the folder, the files will be sorted by author, artist, or title.
Now, I found the files, and I can play my music through this and even in my iTunes library, where the info on each song is still available. Why can't this information transfer to my iPhone?

    Hello Arni,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I see where you are having issues with your trackpad on your MacBook Air. The following article provides suggestions for troubleshooting an unresponsive trackpad.

  • My Magic Mouse is not moving the pointer on the screen but it allows me to scroll  up and down by sliding my fingers on the mouse.

My Magic Mouse is not moving the pointer on screen. However, it is allowing me to scroll text up and down by dragging my fingers on the mouse.  How can I recover full use? I am using a MacBook Pro with Mavericks. All indications are that the mouse is connected through the Bluetooth connection and the batteries have significant life in them.

    Have you tried this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#7
Mouse does not track as expected (jittery, jumpy, slow, fast).
The Apple Wireless Mouse can be used on most smooth surfaces, however if tracking issues occur try these options:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Mouse from the View menu. Set the Tracking slider to adjust how fast the pointer moves as you move the mouse.
Try using a different surface to see if the tracking improves.
Turn the mouse over and inspect the sensor window. Use compressed air to gently clean the sensor window if dust or debris is present.
If multiple Bluetooth wireless devices are in use nearby, try turning them off one at a time to see if the issue improves. Bandwidth intensive devices could affect tracking.

  • Mouse cursor is stuck top left corner of screen.  It will not move.  Tried both my Bluetooth mouse, and a USB mouse. Not moving but will click

Tried un pairing the Bluetooth mouse and reconnecting it.  No change.  Tried both those resets people suggested to others in the forums, that didn't help either.  Borrowed my friends USB mouse for his Mac, the same thing.  Cursor will not move, but the click works.(this is what is happening for both)
If you are kind enough to offer help, please be aware of the following: this is my first Mac.  I really know nothing about them.

Yes, once when I first noticed it, and each time I tried both the pram reset, and when I did the other reset (holding down p&r and the other two buttons before the grey screen, and waited for it to reboot from there).  Can't remember what that reset was called

  • Pointer is moving alone horizontally

Since the last Lion update the pointer is moving alone from time to time. Mountain Lion installing didn't change anything.
I am sure something wrong in librairy because the disturbance disapear when I restart without extension.
Does someone have an idea to solve the problem because it's not easy to use my laptop without extension.
    Regards.
    My laptop : MBP 13" 2,4 Ghz late 2010

There are several possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps until it's resolved.
    1. Follow the instructions in this support article.
    2. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check for unknown or forgotten input devices. Disconnect any USB input devices that you aren't using.
    3. Boot in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you reboot as usual, stop here and post your results. If you can't boot in safe mode, do the same. If you booted in safe mode and there was no change, go on to the next step.
    4. Reset the System Management Controller.
    5. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
    6. A swollen battery in a MacBook Pro or Air can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
    7. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to  behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
    8. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
    9. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
    10. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested.

  • A540 Cursor/pointer problems

Hi, on my A540 all-in-one cursor/pointer haphazardly jumps to the upper right corner of the screen and stays there blinking on a very high speed.
Cannot do anything about it (cannot drag it back or control it) so I have to restart the machine using touch screen.
If I shut off the Lenovo wireless mouse I get back the control of the cursor touch screen(tried using different mice to no avail).
After the restart all is fine for a certain period of time until pointer goes crazy again and jumps to the upper right corner of the screen.
I would appreciate any help on that matter. thnx...

I found the problem when I looked over the specifications for your model.  The HDMI port is for Input and not Output.  In otherwords you can use the A540 as a second display only.   Here are the specifications for your reference.....

  • My Blackberry 9300 track pad pointer not stable.

Please help me, my Blackberry 9300 track pad pointer is moving upward on it own, even when I try to scroll down or side. I wiped the phone, but the problem still continues. Please help me. What should I do?

Oh...you elected to skip past backing up your data. OK...your choice.
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

EDIT: It seems that the problem is that it is not picking up arrow keys - if I bind those movements to any other keys everything works. Why ?
Last edited by Simple Boot (2012-06-29 17:39:37)

Someone asked about this particular example early this year in another forum.
I pointed out that mvwin changed (per bug report) in 2006.
However, no comment was made about the keys.
In a quick check (replacing the mvwin with
    move(y,x); printw("%d,%d", y, x);
I can see that the problem is that because the mvwin does not actually move the window (as the old behavior was), there is no visible effect.
    For reference:
    http://invisible-island.net/ncurses/NEW … #t20120114
+ several improvements to test/movewindow.c (prompted by discussion on
          Linux Mint forum):
+ modify movement commands to make them continuous
+ rewrote the test for mvderwin
+ rewrote the test for recursive mvwin
    http://invisible-island.net/ncurses/NEW … #t20060218
+ remove 970913 feature for copying subwindows as they are moved in
          mvwin() (discussion with Bryan Christ).
    http://invisible-island.net/ncurses/NEWS.html#t970913
+ Modified lib_mvwin.c:  Disable move of a pad.  Implement (costly)
move of subwindows.  Fixed update behavior of movements of regular

  • Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found (MSVCP80.dll)?

Hey guys, new to the board here and pretty much at the end of my rope.
Starting maybe 2 days ago I began getting quite a strange message when I tried to open Photoshop CS3.
I'd send a jpeg of the window but with photoshop down i'll settle for just typing this crap out:
Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The Procedure entry point ?replace@?$basic_string@DU$char_traits@D@std@@V?$a llocator@D@2@@std@@qaeaav12@IIPBD@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCP80.dll
Now, that's a mouthful! Fortunately i'm at least computer literate enough to dig around on google.
After doing that, I came up with nothing. I found a replacement for the DLL that it's having trouble with, but that did nothing.
I then tried out a program called Registrybooster, which found quite a few problems with my registry but failed to correct whatever is causing this problem.
So I tried to backtrack a little bit and see if anything I had done since the last time the program worked (wednesday the prior week) had broken it. I had shut off some startup programs so i figured maybe that had something to do with it. Unfortunately undoing those changes had absolutely no effect at all.
I then tried out doing a repair install, which did nothing. After this, I did an uninstall and reinstall and... nothing.
Some extra info: I run windows xp home edition on this PC and have it updated to SP3.
I've had photoshop on it for about a year with no problems.
Hopefully someone can help me here. Almost every thread I located with similar problems via google either went unanswered or the answers given didn't actually help me out.
    Someone save me!

Hi Chris, thanks for chiming in on my problem.
I'm doubtful of it being TWAIN/WIA caused, but will look into it. I have a wacom tablet and a canon scanner so who knows. What would you suggest I do to see if those two are causing anything in particular? (Not sure why they would as I haven't made any changes to the programs or hardware involved recently.)
