Cursor Pointing Problems

I am having a problem lately with Fireworks CS3. When I point
to the tool icon with the mouse I only show a hand.
I have to position the mouse on next lower Icon and it then
selects the one above.
The distance of this error becomes worse the closer I get to
the middle of the Toolbar.
Left and right icons select ok.
It also shows up in Dreamweaver. When I select the pointing
tool to point to a picture file for instance the arrow appears
about an inch above the mouse pointer.
I have searched high and low with out getting a clue. I have
replaced the display driver and used all kinds of different
pointing devices. (several mice, tablet and built in pointing
device on my Thinkpad T60p.
Any ideas out there?
thanks

Has anyone solved this yet? I recently moved Fireworks CS3 from a Windows XP machine to a Windows 7 machine on a 1920x1200 resolution laptop, and now I've got the same weird mouse pointer mismatch. There is a hover offset between the mouse pointer and the toolbar, and the farther I get from the upper left corner the larger the offset is.  Just partway down the screen, I have to hover an inch below and a little to the right of the tool I that I want to select.  The right column is completely inaccessible, presumably because the right (horizontal) offset has taken me off the toolbar completely. If I am able to successfully click a button with a submenu, I can select the submenu item with no offset and no difficulty.
Oddly, in the main screen work area, there is no problem - the mouse works perfectly.  It is in the tool panels on either side of the screen that this offset occurs.
I did try deleting the preferences file, but that did not help.

  • A540 Cursor/pointer problems

    Hi, on my A540 all-in-one cursor/pointer haphazardly jumps to the upper right corner of the screen and stays there blinking on a very high speed.
    Cannot do anything about it (cannot drag it back or control it) so I have to restart the machine using touch screen.
    If I shut off the Lenovo wireless mouse I get back the control of the cursor touch screen(tried using different mice to no avail).
    After the restart all is fine for a certain period of time until pointer goes crazy again and jumps to the upper right corner of the screen.
    I would appreciate any help on that matter. thnx...

    I found the problem when I looked over the specifications for your model.  The HDMI port is for Input and not Output.  In otherwords you can use the A540 as a second display only.   Here are the specifications for your reference.....

  • Cursor (Pointer) Problem

    I'm having trouble with my pointer.  I'm using Elements 8 and the pointer for the Move Tool for instance is 3 little gloves that because of their rendition I can hardly see and it is the same for the move tool and the crop tool etc. and I can't figure out how to change it.
    Any suggestions.

      Go to the control panel and check dpi scaling under Appearance or Display.
    It’s not uncommon to see a setting of 125% or higher to improve screen readability but PSE requires a dpi of 96 or 100%
    Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% to 149% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) won’t. Sometimes the mouse or tool cursors are distorted.
    Try a setting of 115% or 116% otherwise 100%. A common display resolution, notably for notebooks/laptops, and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality. If your height resolution is out of the range 768 to 800 try experimenting with the slider.

  • Cursor name visable property on xy graph: name overlays cursor point.

    I have an XY grpah set up, and I realized that when i apply the name visable attribute to the cursors programmiably, the name seems to overlay teh cursor, being right on top of it. Yet if i do it manualy through the cursor legend, it shows it on top... its very odd. Ultimatly i do NOT want to do ti manualy becuase i wil be have an unknown amount of cursors being created and would like them all to show the lables that i give them ABOVE the point... not ontop of it, because its obivously not readable. Anyone have a solution for this?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Mark,
    There is no property to set the position of the cursor label. However, you can add empty characters at the begining of the label, so that the actual string will be to the right of the vertical cursor.
    In LabVIEW 7, the cursor label is displayed above the cursor point, but on top of the vertical cursor line.

  • Re-Use of cursor pointer in the Cursor loop

    Is it possible to re-use a Cursor pointer as a cursor pointer within the main cursor loop. We have a scenario like
    FOR c1 IN cursor1 LOOP
         FOR c1 IN cursor2 LOOP
         END LOOP;
    END LOOP;
    The code seems to work and gives correct result 75% of times and giving wrong result 25% times, even though we are using the same data every time.

    This is an existing piece of code, and we are actually trying to investigate why the program is giving incorrect results only sometimes and not always, even when we use the same set of data. This appeared to be the only logical error we could find.
    We are using the variable of the first loop inside the second one, which I understand the code shouldn't be doing. But then, I would expect the result to be consistently wrong, which they are not and this is what surprises me. Could it be that the Oracle is not able to handle this properly?

  • Getting ORA-01000 : maximum open cursors exceeded  problem

    I am getting ORA-01000 : maximum open cursors exceeded problem in my piece of java code when the
    load is high .Open cursors is set to 1000 still getting the same problem .
    Basically i have to select some rows from a table which i am doing in A() function and process it and insert into
    another table which i do it in another function B() there is a update statement also in this fun.
    There is a particular business logic for which i need to call B() from the A() function
    which happens to be in the select result set like below
    A()
    query ="Select * from temp";
    while(rs.next)
    B();
    All the result sets are properly being closed that too in finally block.
    I dont see any other problem with code .Still I am gettin this cursor problem.
    Is some thing wrong with the design like calling a
    insert from a result set while loop or the update statement

    The code below is deleting fine. Check your $id is valid. I wonder if ADOdb has some quirks with binding and variable creation/destruction, similar to #1 in http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/htdocs/php_troubleshooting_faq.html#bindvars
    <?php
    See ADOdb Tutorial for Oracle: http://phplens.com/lens/adodb/docs-oracle.htm
    drop table mytab;
    create table mytab (city varchar2(20), country_id varchar2(20));
    insert into mytab values ('SF', 'US');
    insert into mytab values ('Sydney', 'AU');
    insert into mytab values ('London', 'UK');

    $db = ADONewConnection("oci8");
    $db->Connect("//localhost/XE", "hr", "hrpwd");
    echo "Before:\n";
    $rs = $db->Execute("select city from mytab");
    while ($arr = $rs->FetchRow()) {
        echo $arr['CITY'] . "\n";
    $s = $db->Prepare("delete from mytab where country_id = :ci");
    $db->Parameter($s, $ci, 'ci');
    foreach (array('US', 'AU') as $ci) {
         $db->Execute($s);
    echo "After:\n";
    $rs = $db->Execute("select city from mytab");
    while ($arr = $rs->FetchRow()) {
        echo $arr['CITY'] . "\n";
    ?>There's another sample in the ADOdb OCI8 driver:
              Usage:
                   $stmt = $DB->Prepare("insert into table (col0, col1, col2) values (:0, :1, :2)");
                   $DB->Bind($stmt, $p1);
                   $DB->Bind($stmt, $p2);
                   $DB->Bind($stmt, $p3);
                   for ($i = 0; $i < $max; $i++) {
                        $p1 = ?; $p2 = ?; $p3 = ?;
                        $DB->Execute($stmt);
                   }For queries I know this works. I haven't seen any examples that prepare once.
    $rs = $db->Execute("select city from mytab where country_id = :ci", array('ci' => 'UK'));
    while ($arr = $rs->FetchRow()) {
        echo $arr['CITY'] . "<br>\n";

  • I have purchased Mountain Lion to correct the gray cursor square problem, and I cannot get Mountain lion to download

    I purchased Mountain Lion from 10.7.5 on my Imac to correct the gray cursor square problem, now Mountain Lion will not fully download. Any recommendations?

    Upgrading to a newer OS X does not often correct pre existing problems. MIght be a disk space issue, or the startup disk needs repairing.
    Make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk.
    Control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop then click Get Info.
    In the Get Info pane you will see:  Capacity & Available
    Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.
    For the gray cursor issuee, startup your Mac in Safe Mode
    A Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient. Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple menu.
    If that didn't help the cursor issue, launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
    Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
    Click:  Verify Disk
    If Disk Utility reports errors, since v10.7 Lion is the currently installed OS, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys so you can access OS X: About OS X Recovery.
    From there you can access the built in utilities to repair the startup disk.

  • Another weird Icebook cursor-freeze problem

    I recently asked about a full cursor-lockup problem here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=440688
    Problems started after updating this machine to OS 10.3.9.
    Anyway, I've been able to improve matters to when the cursor freezes, I can
    unlock it by unplugging the phone line to the (internal) modem. Only locks up when I'm online (dialup). Weird, huh? And down to nuisance level, though I'd still like to cure it.
    Details: 2002 Icebook G3/600 running OS 10.3.9
    Ran fsck, repaired permissions, cleaned & reseated RAM (tests
    OK with Memtest)
    Any other ideas?

    I've had that problem since I purchased my MacBook about 2 years ago. I've even flatten and installed new OSs over this time, no change. The behavior I have is the cursor sticking after just about any input which requires the computer to do some processing (ie: copying and pasting text, performing edits a photo, renaming a folder, etc...). It's very distracting when you're working hard on a document or drawing and constantly waiting for the cursor to unstick. Believe it or not, I've actually gotten used to it. Good news is, I'm buying a MacBook Pro soon, and giving this computer to my wife. I'll freak if the new Pros do it too. No......!

  • Mixed Signal Graph, Selected Cursors, and Cursor Position Problems

    I'm trying to work around an issue with a single multiplot cursor on a mixed-signal graph (doesn't work right, R&D bug report #100830) by grabbing the selected cursor x-position and updating that position across all four cursors, as seen below:
    However, I'm having two problems.
    One, the selected cursor is not always the actual selected cursor.  Quite often, especially when selecting and dragging cursors 3 & 4 (indexed 2 & 3), the selected cursor shows up as 0 or 1.
    Two, and the one I'm more concerned about, is the fact that the four cursors X-positions never completely line up.  In every case, whichever cursor is deemed to be "selected", the other three will align to some point (the same for all three) that is offset from the actual value.  Please note that the X-values in my demonstration are identical (1000 points from 0.001 to 1) so I don't see this as being some snap issue where the value is offsetting to the closest available on the other arrays.
    I've attached my scratchpad demo.vi as an illustration.
    Any help or insight is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike Webster

    I believe I found where the issue resides at least and a workaround.  This is a problem with XY graphs in general when trying to programmatically control the cursor position.  Somehow, the software goes looking for the nearest point instead of the identical point and has some sort of issue with its search algorithm.  Switching from attempting to match position to copying the cursor 'index' completely cleared up the problem I was having.  In the particular application I'm working on, the four graphs have identically spaced data on the X-axis, so this solution should work fine for me.

  • PSE9 cursor/tool problem

    I'll use the eraser tool as an example because it seems that most tools share a similar issue.
    I can use the tool just fine at first, but then it will start to erase areas where I'm not currently pointing. So if I'm pointing my cursor in one area it will erase somewhere else instead. It won't do it constantly, but even when it happens occasionally this is still a problem. This makes the program very frustrating to use. I've tried to reset tools and all preferences to default, but it didn't help. I have honestly no idea why it keeps doing this.
    Anyone else encountered this problem?

  • Cursor Pointer in Mail

    my cursor is not changing into a pointer when i have written an email in my mail programm, only when i touch the adress bars. does anybody know how to solve this?

    Erik,
    Sorry to hear that tweaking those settings did no good for you.
    I read on another thread (in a post dated Aug 2012) for MBPro that one user, 829z, fixed his display problem involving irregularly alternating arrow cursors and cross-hairs insertion markers in both Safari and Word by removing his Adobe PDF Plugins, which were "not supported on new versions of Safari." This post is older, but still, it might be worth a try to remove those plugins if they are still not supported? He uninstalled them by going to his Hard Drive / Library / Internet Plug-ins, then dragging to the trash the following two files: AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin and AdobePDFViewer.plugin. He then restarted Safari and found his pointer issue fixed. Several other users wrote that this method also fixed their issues.
    I have no idea whether this would work on current versions of the OS or Safari, or on the MBAir, but it might give you a hint of something new to try (assuming Adobe plugins are not working with your Safari version).
    Best of luck.

  • Cursor control problem

    I have a problem controlling my cursor. I've noticed it while in Yahoo email, but it may occur at other times also. It seems to occur when my fingers are on or near the mouse pad. What happens is that, for no apparent reason, the cursor image changes from a perpendicular line to a little rectangle. When this happens, I lose control of the cursor, and it takes off down the page. I can get back control by taking my hands away from the keyboard for a few seconds, but then when I try to do something, it may happen again and again. It is not a huge problem but is very annoying. Any suggestions? Is there some kind of sensitivity adjustment I need to make with the mouse pad? Hey! It just happened while I was typing this post.

    Try disabling tapping.

  • Cursor/Pointer Freeze

    Whenever I hit the delete key, or use the keyboard to cut or paste, my cursor or pointer freezes or disappears for a few seconds (sometimes up to 5 seconds) and it is getting pretty annoying. I have used system preferences to turn of all trackpad "Gestures". I have also tried changing the tracking and double clicking speed...
    My black MB is one week old... running OS 10.4.7.... Anyone have any ideas? Harware problem? Return it? OS problem?

    I can assure you that "turning off ignore accidental trackpad input" doesn't solve this problem!
    There is something else going on here.
    It's as if the computer can't process the input from the track pad immediately when it is working on something else. For example, streaming something, downloading something or ripping something while using the trackpad on something else causes this missing cursor and/or frozen cursor problem.
    It doesn't have to be something else that is process intensive for this to happen. I am listening to a stream of audio at 25kbps, and it is occurring as I type this and stop and use my trackpad and ponter now.
    The cursor issue is persistent, but not continuous.
    I can't believe more people haven't complained about this. Could it be an experience that is something unique to a small number of users?
    It still happens if I create a brand new account on my machine.
    I may call apple support. But I am not very confident that the person I get will have any solution to offer.

  • Null pointer problems. Need help

    I have a class that scrolls text across the screen. the class is a Jpanel and uses a thread to produce a scroller effect. The panel is created and called in the constructor and uses a String Array.
    This application is now a client and its server sends over a new String array as an object to the client uses stream sockets. I wish to use this new Server string array but since no array exists until it connects i suppse thats the reason im getting null pointer exceptions.
    What can i do to solve this problem?

    Do you get a stack trace printed to the console window? Look at the stack trace. It tells you in which line of your source code the NullPointerException occurred. Go to that place in your source code and find out what happens. Fix the problem in the source code.
