Cursor will not drop item after attempting to drag item to new location.

I have been having issues with my mouse not dropping an item after i try to drag it to a new location. This happened soon after some updates but i have done too much work to go back and restore without losing alot of work. I have done an SMC reset as well as a PRAM reset. I have totally wiped the computer and restored from time machine. The apple store has checked and all the hardware is fine so it is definitely a software glitch. All software is up to date. Only thing I think it may could be would be stuff needed for Blackboard online classroom. How can I find this or perhaps fix this?!?

Thanks Linc! I actually had this thought last night since Air Display is the only third party software I have running and that was about the time the apple started messing up. As soon as I deleted the software the computer started working perfectly again!!!

My iphone 3gs will not turn on after attempting a factory restore, all that happens is the apple logo appears the timer goes round then stops. It then switches itself on and off several times to no avail.
The only way I can turn it off now is by holding the off button and the home button, but then it goes into the cycle again.

If your computer is not freezing when you are referring to a white circle, there may be an issue with the touch screen software installed on your computer. To correct this, I suggest re-installing all of the original software and hardware drivers that first came with your computer. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8), and then update the software by Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8). If the white cursor will not stop blinking after performing the steps in the documents above, I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point to before the issue occurred. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
Should the problem continue, I suggest performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. This can be done by following the steps in this resource on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8). This should return your system back to factory defaults.

did you try to do a Time Machine backup from your MacBook Pro, or a Time Machine restoration to it?
Are you trying to reload your current version of OS X (10.7.4, to judge from your signature), or are you trying to reload the version of Mac OS X that came on the grey installation DVDs that originally came with your MacBook Pro?

How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

Since you are getting to the login screen, it is booting past the "gray screen" phase, so try the steps in this article, like a Safe Boot.

Is it stopping recording after 8 seconds? Are you using Garage Band?

This is actually a feature (i'm not sure why it defaults to this). Instructions for the iPhone version are below:
With the amp section open, touch the sproket on the upper right.
You should be in a "settings" type area with three tabs. Touch "Sections"
Select the section and switch it to automatic - it will now record until you stop recording by touching the stop icon.

Cursor will not move

First, everything was working well for a few days, then it didn't. It connects and turns on fine (the menu is present and clear). I cannot move the cursor. It will not go up, down, left, right or back. When I try to reset the light blinks but I still cannot move the cursor. I have reset and unplugged. I have even tried using the remote for my iMac (after pairing). It will go to screen saver and there it stays until I goto TV or power down. I do not believe it is a remote issue. I repeat ... the cursor will not move. addendum - When I repress anything on the remote, the light blinks ... nothing else happens ... nothing. grrrrrrrrrr arg!

Fixed it - the pairing and unpairing was the key - once I realized I was looking for the number of blinks, I it worked out. I think it was opposite of the instructions but maybe I don't know my left from my right. Merry Christmas

This did not help the problem. History of problems that started 3 days ago before 6.1 update:
Problems started with the phone dropping a call I was on. Then the screen had lines across it, then screen turned solid green.
Powered off the iphone.
Happened again 4 hours later. Dropped call then garbed screen. Powered off then back on all seemed okay.
Applyed 6.1 yesterday in the morning. Phoned died completely last night. Plugged in over night and it came back up this morning.
Phone is still within 1 year warranty. Should I just have Apple replace the phone (Warranty runs out in 2 weeks)

Im also a little bit confused the cursor can be moved either using the touchpad or USB mouse.
If the touchpad cannot be used, please check if its not disabled.
As mentioned by PinkPanther, the function FN + F9 enables and disables the touchpad.
But the cursor could be moved using mouse connected to USB ports.
So even if the touchpad is disabled, the USB mouse should control the cursor.
