Curve 8320 home Wi-fi connectivity problems

Just got the 8320 phone and during set up i tried to connect the home wireless router to the phone.
However the phone wont pick up the signal, and sporadically picks up local BT networks or says there are none to pick up.
Any ideas on what i should do?
Thanks

Can you elaborate?  What you describe could have any number of causes.  What type of router?  How far away from the router are you?  You are asking about two different things here, as well.  Bluetooth and wifi.

  • TP-Link TL-WA901 & Home Hub 5 connectivity problem

I've just installed a Home Hub 5. Devices connected via Ethernet & Wifi work fine.  My Vista PC connected via a TP-Link switch & a TP-Link TL-WA901ND Wireless Access Point can't web browse successfully.  Firefox says "The page isn't redirecting properly", IE says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" - for every site I try.  I can ping my BT hub OK, I can see the PC from the hub & a directly-connected Windows 7 PC, & I can ping external websites.  Any ideas?  I've tried changing all sorts of settings without any luck, Googled, etc, & nothing I've tried has sorted it.  The same PC & browsers work if connected via Ethernet.
Btw, the connection setup is like this as I've had equipment damaged 3 times from lightning surges via my phone line.  The PC connected directly is only temporary until I've resolved the problem.

This is from Keith's help pages. http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/hardware/TP_link/wa701nd/wa701nd.html

  • Infinit 2 - Home Hub 5 connection problem

I upgraded to Infinity yesterday, the YouView box was late arriving but got it today.
I have a desktop connected by RJ45 and WiFi, another desktop and a laptop using WiFi.  TV set connected via RJ45 through a switch or hub and now the YouView connected direct to the hub via a RJ45.
I think I lost the connection at least once yesterday evening but did not pay a lot of attention.
This morning I found that the desktop that is conncted by WiFi only (it runs 24/7 ding some monitoring) was connected to the hub but showing no Internet connection.  I restared the PC and it was OK.
The laptop has also done this, showed a WiFi connection but no Internet connection.
I set the YouView box to record a programme to test it but it lost the Internet connection.
I am still trying to work out exactly what is happening, any suggestions of things to check?

have you tried switching off smart wifi, splitting the 2.4 and 5ghz wifi channels and add say a 5 to the 5ghz channel to identify which is which.  then select manual channels for both 2.4 and 5ghz wifi and then see if that helps.  you can give them the same or different wireless passwords
Two probably three WiFi units are having the same problem and none have had problems with other WiFi previously so have o reason to suspect their drivers.
At the moment I have put the HH2 on one of the outputs from the HH5 - I wondered why the engineer did not take the HH2 away, now I know!
The desktop at the other side of the house had lost its Internet again when I got home tonight though still connected to the HH5.

Hmm, my lad also has the same phone with no issues connecting to my HH2 or HH3
(my hubs however are not set how they come delivered)
When it's connected to the hub, with the phone switched on, remove the battery, then re-insert and power up and then allow the phone to re-establish the connection.
(some phones can and do fail to 'talk' to your mobile operators servers, thus creating issues like this. rebooting should start the handshake process again)
    Does it now connect?
Failing that you could adjust the hub's settings to something like this:
Change the hubs SSID (BTHomehub2-****) to something simple like hub2
Initially leave the wireless interface type at b/g/n (works for me) or just b/g
Try a different wireless channel - though the other devices would also be flaky
Try using just WPA2 (mines set to this) or just WPA
You could try changing the wireless key from it's default - though all other devices would then need to be reconnected.
Have you checked to see if it's up to date using Samsung Kies?
Hopefully any of the contributions above will cure it, if not I'm sure the guys on these forums will assist you further.

  • 64 bit encryption home wi fi connectivity problem

I have a Mac Book Pro and I'm running Lion OS
I'm trying to connect to the internet from my home wi fi but my software doesn't seem to support 64 bit open wep encryption. I can connect other laptops, tv, PS3 etc but not my Mac.
I get 'network settings have changed' and it doesn't connect. Why?
    Help please.

MAC is an acronym for Media Access Control.  That's a specialized address for many networkable components.
Mac is the name for both the operating system and the computers made by Apple Inc, and is shorthand for Macintosh, and not an acronym.
Apple back before 802.11n days probably had better 802.11b support on the 802.11g compatible machines, as there was better WEP back then.   Since 2006, it has been much more commonplace to find 802.11g and 802.11n exclusively because encryption on 802.11b is so weak, and doesn't support WPA2.

  • Airport Express: Snow Leopard 10.6.3 / Vista Home Premium / connect problem

I have Snow Leopard 10.6.3 running on my Mac Pro, and I have an Airport Express for the little wireless network I am trying to set up....
...I can get my iPhone to connect - that was easy!
    The problem:
My girlfriend is running Vista Home Premium on her HP laptop. She cannot connect to my network:
    a) actually it comes up on her computer as being "connected to an unidentified network"
    and
    b) she continues to get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when she tries to connect to the internet.
    Any ideas?
    1) Is there a connection problem between Vista and Airport Express / Snow Leopard?
    2) Anything special I need to do to let a Windows (or Vista specifically) computer connect?

Possible risks after someone cracked the password and connects to your Wifi:
    - Someone could sniff passwords when the password is transmitted in plain text (e.g. check for mails with POP)
    - Someone could access shares that are not password protected
    - Illegal use of your internet connection
But I don't know how likely that is. Your decision.
However, we now identified the Windows Vista Wifi settings as the source of the problem.
You can now play around with the different encryption settings in the AX and identify when Vista starts to not connect.
I now remember that I had to add the Wifi settings to Vista manually for WPA2 Personal (WPK) as the system messed it up when I connected with a click and provided the password. So if you want to try WPA2 delete the profile in Vista, probably restart and then add all the Wifi settings manually instead of clicking on an identified network. Vista is definitely able to use WPA2, so there should be no need to toggle between WPA2 and WEP once you configured Vista correctly.

  • BB Curve 8320 software problem

I got my BB Curve 8320 today ... everything working well and I've been able to figure things out myself.  Amazing!
BUT ... I went into BB Desktop to remove some applications I don't want.  Device was plugged in ... this is the error message I got:
"BB Desktop Software does not have BB Device Software for the device that you have connected to computer."
My device says:  Platform - 2.5.0.36   and  Application - 4.2.2.180
    BB DM version:  4.3.0.17
So ... what does all this mean?  And what do I have to do to fix it?  (I knew everything was going too well!)

  • HOME LAN CONNECTION PROBLEM

    HOME LAN CONNECTION PROBLEM
I set up a 2 unit home net with a Linksys WRT54G Router, One PC hardwired to Port 1 and a Notebook conected via the wireless port. Both PC are Pentium and WXPPRO.
When I try to browse the local workgroup ("MICASA") I get the following error message: "You have no access to "WorkGroup". You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The server list for this workgroup is not accessible at this moment."
Wireless has MAC filter enabled and security disabled
    I restricted DHCP adresses to only 2 => 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101
Win XP Pro Firewall is disabled in both PC
I worked as ADMIN with proper password in both boxes. Full file security enabled.
Shared both C disks with proper local and share permits.
In registry both PCs have: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa/"restrictanonimous"=0
I could see both PCs in "my network places" for a couple of days, with full and proper file sharing, and then both pc's dissapeared. Both PC's access internet properly.
The obnoxious message listed at the beginning began appearing when I click "Workgroup" in "my network places". I tried everything, including unsetting and re-setting file sharing for C disks. Nothing happens.
The W2K Resource Kit Browser Monitor reports no brouser on the LAN.
I can ping one adress from the other and I can log onto the other box shares by typing the name in Windows Explorer (\\Pentium or \\PCdeLidia)
    Any clue will be welcome

    Thank you, timelord.
I checked the Node setting (ipconfig /all) and it is "broadcast".
So, I decided to start all over again.
    1) I un-shared all shares in both computers (The notebook and the desktop).
    2) I reset the linksys router and used the Linksys setup wizard to reconfigure it from 0 (cero) - dropped (disabled)  ALL security - Left only admin setup password - Changed the workgroup SSID from "MyHome" To "Home" - just to be sure.
    3) Run network setup wizard in desktop (WXP Pro). Sharing Printers and files enabled.
    4) Stopped and Disabled the WXP firewall in the Desktop (it was disabled, but the network wizard enables it and leaves it running)
    5) Rebooted the Desktop
    6) At this point, I finally could browse the local lan and see my desktop listed
My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "Pentium" (my desktop)
    7) Went over to the notebook and re-checked all file-sharing was off, then I erased the WI-FI profile in it (uses the Intel wizard), changed the workgroup name from "My Home" to "Home", Rebooted it and connected it to the Wi-Fi "Home" net that was detected. ALL security disabled, including WXP Firewall.
    8) Now, the whole net is visible from both PC's
My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "Pentium" (my desktop)
My Network Places / All the Net / Microsoft Windows Network / "Home" / "PCdeLidia" (my wife's  notebook)
    9) I enabled a couple of shares in both machines and I could browse them and connect to them
    10) Finally, all goes to hell: I shut-off both PCs and the LinkSys router. Then I powered the linksys, and then the Desktop. The notebook still OFF. And Voilá, same awful post:
"You have no access to "WorkGroup". You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The server list for this workgroup is not accessible at this moment."
I'm not even able to see myself.
One tip: I used the browser monitor from W2K. Before, I was able to see 3 (three) lines listed, no browser. Unfortunately, i did not write it down. Now I can see only the following 2 (two) lines:
MiCasa \Device\NetBT_TCPIP_ {€ unknown  (Not an Euro sign, something like that)
    MiCasa \Device\NwlnkNb         unknown
Now I have to quit, no more time, I'll continue later and keep you posted
    Thank you again

  • Problems syncing Blackberry Curve 8320 with Outlook 2007

Hello all. I have a problem that seems to be somewhat common. I've done some searching through the messages but so far, no luck.
I just got my Curve 8320 and I installed Desktop Manager 4.5 that came with it. At work, the calendar I want to use is in Outlook 2007. It's a work calendar but this is not a work phone. Anyhow, it wouldn't work at all, but I changed one of the options on the phone (based on a comment here) from "Facebook" to the other option (my personal email, not associated with work or Outlook 2007, but that was my only other choice).
Then it began pulling records from Outlook to the phone, but approximately half way through it gives me this error under a window called "Intellisync": "The operation terminated unexpectedly."
I can't get it to go any further than this. Any ideas?

  • Curve 8320 corrupts OS periodically and then cannot boot (blinking LED only)

I have a T-Mobile BB Curve 8320 that I've had for about 9 months, and I have what appears to be a recurring problem.
Three times now, the phone has corrupted its OS, and it will not boot. Each time it does it, the symptoms are first the phone is non responsive, and just shows the spinning hourglass cursor. The last time it did it while in the Mail app, which is the one I use almost exclusively. The phone appears to lock up, showing the wait cursor indefinitely. This time I waited a half hour, and it was clear that it wasn't coming back. So I pushed the power button, and it shut down the phone. But then when I tried to turn it back on, the screen never came up, and it just blinked the red LED "forever." (It was about 18-20 hours before I got around to trying to reload it.)  The first time this happened was when the phone was running the OS version it shipped with, which I think was 4.3, but I don't recall. But now it has done it twice while running 4.5.0.81, which is the OS distribution T-Mobile makes available for the Curve.
The first two times it did it, I used the application loader to wipe the device and reload the OS. When in this state, BB desktop manager doesn't see the device since it can't boot. But if you click through to the application loader, you can get it to load. (Or you can run the application loader outside of BB desktop manager)
This time, the application loader started up, offered the choice of what to load, and then proceeded into the next phases. Erasing the device succeeds, as does the next phase where it loads the OS. But then it gets to where it is loading application modules, with a progress bar for each module and one for the overall progress. It got halfway through the overall progress, and failed with an "unspecified error", suggesting to try again. I tried it three times, and it failed the same way each time.
After calling T-Mobile, they bounced me over to RIM, and the first guy had me go through the app loader again with the same result. When he started pursuing USB connectivity issues, I asked to speak to someone else. (There are other devices on this system, both mass storage and input, and none of them ever show connectivity issues. )
The second tech had me rerun the application loader, but this time only select the core OS, leaving out all the apps. This succeeded, and then he had me rerun it, loading the rest of the applications. This also succeeded.
But the problem I still have is this. There is no explanation why the phone corrupts itself every couple of months, or why loading the OS and the applications in one step failed to work _repeatedly_.  I believe the device has a bad memory address, and the two step OS load simply danced around it. And it is that which is causing the phone to corrupt its own OS to the point that it cannot boot.
The tech tried to pass of the corruption due to loading third party applications, and while I can accept that a rogue application can corrupt memory locations that it has the ability to write to, I don't know if the BB OS/device uses any form of protected memory, or if apps are essentially unrestrained. The only third party applications I load on this are the Google app, with Gmail, and Opera Mini.
To be honest, if the BB OS is that fragile that I can't even load these two applications on it, I'll be trading it for a different email capable phone.
Anyway, I'm looking to find if anyone else has a phone that repeatedly gets corrupted so it can't boot, and requires a complete reload. Also, is there anyway to test the memory on the phone? I'm going to call T-Mobile back and try to get them to swap my phone, because I can't afford to spend three hours on the phone with tech support every couple of months when my phone dies.
    thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Our cases sound a bit different. I seldom use Desktop Manager, as I sync through BES. I do use it for backup though.
But over the time my phone corrupting itself has happened, I've upgraded from BB OS 4.3 to 4.5, which required an update to Desktop Manager, and following that I upgraded to a new computer. So I've changed computers, BB Desktop software, and BB OS software, and the problem has happened across all of those changes.
You should have been able to restore the OS even if it was corrupt. Desktop Manager won't recognize the device if it won't boot, but application loader will still find it. The first two times I did it, I used instructions basically like this: http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry?page=4
But since then I've found I can just access application loader via BB Desktop Manager and do the same thing. I did notice when my OS reload kept failing this last time, that using application loader directly showed more of the failure message. It still wasn't anything useful, but when I reran the reload via Desktop Manager, I recognized the error was the same, but noted that I didn't see all of the output of the standalone application loader.

  • My Media Card keeps Rebooting my BB Curve 8320

I recently got a replacement bb Curve 8320.  I had a media card in my old phone and when I put it in my new phone it kept rebooting my cell phone every 1-2 minutes.  I went and bought a 4GB Media Card, had the guy at T-Mobile Format it and then went home and placed all of the photos, videos, music and purchased ring tones from my old media card to my new one.  When I placed the new Media Card into my phone it keeps doing the same thing.  I get the hour glass and then the phone reboots over and over again.  Someone please help!!!!  The phone has been wiped out and all applications have been updated, so I am not sure why this is happening.
    Very FRUSTRATED!,
    Thanks,
    Jes

its also best when installing the 4.5 software to your BB, that the media card is removed from the BB during the installation. It has been known to cause these problems. Once the software has been fully reinstalled, you can then reinsert the card.
If your card was in for a previous installtion, best to format the card within the BB again.
    babylabes
In my very first post I gave you directions on how to locate the exact version installed on your BB. It is very useful information to be able to help you. Also why do you plug the card into your PC to put files on it, you can plug your BB into your PC and transfer them to it that way. and in your case I would follow the instructions of making sure the .dat files are not being copied over, and make sure you dont have anything that is not media content. something you are transferring is corrupted. dont copy the folders over. Copy content in the folder to the new empty folder on the BB. (reformat while in the BB first so you have the folders)

  • MAC OSX - Wont mount media card on Curve 8320

    Hi,
Just to get it out of the way. I have:
    1. Turned Media card on
    2. Turned Mass Storage Mode on
    3. Enabled Mass Storage mode when connected (yes)
    4. Formatted the media card countless times
    5. Enabled password on Curve 8320
    6. Updated Curve OS to latest 4.5
Despite all my efforts, the media card does not mount under OSX (10.5.6)
I can take pictures and save to the media card so I know its there and working, but I cant see the card under OSX or Windows (VMWare) no matter what I try.
    Any help is deeply appreciated.
    L. Zuniga

I'm having nearly the same problem with my 2 Verizon Curve 8330's
    I'm using OS X 10.5.8.
One device has 4.5.0.77, the other has 4.5.0.138.
Media card is on, Mass Storage is on, Enable Mass Storage when connected is on.
The card works fine on the device - eg, I can save pictures, etc to it, and the device can read the media that I put on the card via a card reader.
The USB works fine, eg PocketMac can see the device and sync my calendar and contacts. If I connect the device to a Windows machine, Desktop Manager can detect it and I can install software, etc.
BUT - the media card is not detected as a mass storage device - it never appears as a mounted volume, and PocketMac (and Media Sync on Windows) are unable to detect the card.
I've tried two different cards in each device, connecting to Mac and Windows machines, with the result I described above every time.
I know these media card problems are very common, but I've tried every solution I can find (checking settings, reformatting cards, uninstalling/re-installing drivers and software, etc) and nothing seems to help.
Since the card works fine on the device, and the USB connectivity seems to be fine, and my mass storage settings are all correct - what could I possibly be doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Sean
