Curve 8330 all functionality lost on keypad and track-ball

after my blackberry boots up i lose all functions with all buttons i tried to redownload software now its stuck on license agreement page.  i get phone calls and messages still but i cannot answer or recieve either of them due to this, any suggestions please?

Yes this is completely normal, the track ball has to be fairly loose to allow movement without any catching or need to use pressure, the keypad is slightly lose purely because this is how the phone is built, however it does not in any way affect the stability or performance of the phone. Enjoy your new BlackBerry & welcome to the support forums, any more troubles, don't hesitate to come back!

  • Mighty Mouse lost right click and track ball 'click' in upgrade to Lion

I upgraded my MBP to Lion at the community's recommendation and things have been going pretty well except for one major annoyance.  My mighty mouse, that worked perfectly on Snow Leopard no longer is able to right click or trackball 'click'.  If I try to do right click or use the trackball click all I get is a normal click.  I have no idea what to do, I've tried un-pairing the mouse and resetting it up, but the mouse seems to keep its unique identifier so when I re-pair it the computer recognizes it as a mouse it has seen before.  Though I'm not sure if being able to change this would matter or help.  Thanks for any input!

    Hey,
I just talked to German Apple telephone support. They fixed the problem for me! With fresh  installs of 10.7.5 the problem is that two files are missing that are needed for the mouse. In my case I could get them from another computer I own that ran Lion and did have the files. To get to the files you need do this:
    Go to
    /System/Library/LoginPlugins/BezelServices.loginPlugin
control-click that file and choose "show contents"
now in the finder window navigate to
    Contents/PlugIns/
In this folder should be two files named
    AppleBluetoothHIDMouse.plist
    and
    AppleHIDMouse.plist
If you don't find these files, you need to get them and put them in.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 won't boot, LED blinks and hourglass spins

I bought this pink BlackBerry Curve 8330 in December of 2008. It has worked perfectly since and I've never gotten it wet. It's been dropped 4-5 times, but never from more than 3 feet.
This afternoon, in the middle of writing a text, it suddenly powered off and the red LED light came on like it does when it is turning back on. It went off, the screen stayed black, then a few seconds later the screen turned on with an hourglass spinning for about five seconds, then the light turns off and everything goes black again for a few seconds, then the LED light comes on again and the cycle is repeated. It did this five times before I had to put it away as we drove home. When I got home, it had finally booted the whole way, but the battery was so low the radio was off, so I plugged it into the USB charger on my desktop computer.
When I came back later, the phone had stopped charging and was on a black screen with the LED light on, just like earlier. It went through this cycle a few times.
I pulled the battery and put it back in, same thing happened. Black screen, white screen with hourglass, black screen.
I plugged it back into the USB charger and as I type this, the little psycho has booted completely and it shows that it is charging.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Mouse and track ball working together in leopard

i just upgraded to a new 8 core from a dual g5 tiger. 1 thing i was able to do with out loading the logitech drivers... which when reading forums ,is nothing but trouble.with tiger g5 i was able to connect my mouse for right hand and logitech marble track ball for left. then in preferences i could set system preferences primary mouse button to right so ican use my thumb left hand. now with new computer and mouse it doesn't allow that. any ideas how to make it work how i want it
    thanks

    HI,
Check the Logitech site to see if you can update a driver for the mouse. Read the information carefully to make sure this is the software you need. It supports Macintosh OS X OS 10.3.9, 10.4.x, 10.5.x
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/494/3129&cl=us,en
As with any software update, repair disk permissions after you finish installing the software.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.

  • All settings lost on Mail and Safari

I walked away from my computer for about 10 minutes, and when I came back to check my email, I found that all my account settings were reset, and all my bookmarks, etc. gone in Safari. Any ideas why this would happpen? I am in New England with this big storm going on, would that have anything to do with it?

Not sure what the situation is now. Is your mail really gone from ~/Library/Mail/? Hasn’t it “reappeared” there, just like some of your settings?
The only thing that’s usually necessary in cases such as yours, after having fixed all the filesystem issues, is to re-create or restore com.apple.mail.plist using one of the following procedures:
    (1) Restore ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist from a backup if you have one. Mail shouldn’t be running while you do this.
    (2) Set up your mail accounts again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done. You’ll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    (3) Mail may have renamed the old preferences file to com.apple.mail.plist.saved. If that’s the case, you may trash the new com.apple.mail.plist and rename the old com.apple.mail.plist.saved back to com.apple.mail.plist. Again, be sure Mail isn’t running while doing this. Since Mail decided to discard it, I would expect this file to be corrupt (I don’t understand why would Mail discard it and create a new one otherwise), but apparently that often is not the case and the settings can indeed be restored by just renaming the file.
If your mail is gone from ~/Library/Mail/, however (something I find hard to believe, as you apparently didn’t have serious filesystem issues), and it’s not on the server, then you’ll have to either restore it from a backup or try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage. Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • Updated to itunes 11 and all data lost from ipod and library

I updated to itunes 11 yesterday and then downloaded some cd's I'd bought on HMV Digital. lugged ipod in and all music appeared in library as normal. i transferred new music onto ipod and created some playlists. When i turned my ipod on this morning to go to work, there are no songs on it at all, not even the ones i downloaded and transferred last night!!!!
Having logged into itunes again tonight, the only music in my library is that which i downloaded last night... I am livid, there were thousands of songs on there and I don't have access to that music anymore... Is there any way I can retreive the info? All music isn't backed up on this laptop as ipod was previously synced with different PC

Just FYI - the situation is resolved.  I downloaded the new snow leopard 10.6.8 update for safari and now itunes works.  I have no idea what that has to do with anything - but I saw it on another forum and it actually worked.

  • My keypad and track pad cannot be detected by my iMac... So no way of login in or doing anything?

When turning only iMac, neither the keyboard or the track pad or recognised.  This has started to happen a lot.  Sometimes they are and sometimes not.
When they are not recognised I have no way of logging into the computer... I have tried all the obvious things changed the batteries etc... Thata all I can do at the moment as I cannot do anything else as I cannot access my system???

You need to buy a wired keyboard, almost all of them are Mac compatible, get a wired mouse as well and your problem should be solved.

  • Twist touch pad and track ball not working

    Hello -
We have a Thinkpad Twist S230u with an intel i7 processor.  The touchpad and trackball have not worked for quite some time (last 9 months or so) - my boss used this computer and just put up with it, using a wireless mouse.  I am now trying to repair it for another staff members use.
So far, I have: Re-installed windows 8, then upgraded to Windows 8.1 pro and ran all updates.  Updated the BIOS, uninstalled the synaptics UltraNav driver, then reinstalled the latest driver (run as administrator).  I took the keyboard out and checked the connections to the laptop from the touchpad.
    Anyone have any other thoughts??
    TThanks so much!

    Hello,
Have you tried booting from a Linux Live CD/DVD/USB drive?  If it still does not work, then it is a hardware issue, not a software one.

  • Problems with BB Media Sync and Curve 8330

I having problems getting BB Media Sync to work with my curve 8330.  Some background info:
I am using Windows 7 (I have also tried connecting it on a PC running XP to no avail).
I have an 8 GB microsd card in my curve.
BB Desktop software recognizes my BB.
Windows Explorer does however does not (no removable storage shows up in My Computer (this is true on both my PC running 7 and the one running XP).
I have already checked that mass storage is enabled.
The error message that I get is "Your device is not recognized by Blackberry Media Sync...".
My BB flashes the connecting screen for about a second and then says "Connected to Desktop" when I open BB Media Sync but to no avail.
I have also already tried formatting the microsd card in the blackberry "Media" menu.
I have tested to make sure that its not a USB connection problem and that is not the issue.
I'm at a loss of what else there is to do, can anyone help please?
    Thank you in advance.

I am having a similar problem with my Curve 8330, though I use a Mac and have tried connecting to a PC to only get the same results.
    I have a 4GB Micro SDHC
My BB will connect with BB Desktop Manager to sync calendars, contacts, etc. but no media
Although the computer and the Phone communicate via Desktop Manager, my BB device does not show up in finder
I get an error message that says mass media storage mode must be activated
I have activated these features under Options/Media Card: Media Card Support - On; Encryption Mode - None; Mass Storage Mode Support - On; Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected - Yes
I have reformatted my Micro SDHC card

  • Can't transfer calendar: Palm Treo to Curve 8330

I've been helping my husband switch over from his Palm Treo 600, using Palm desktop, to new BB Curve 8330. A salesman transferred name and tel #s only.  I've managed to switch most of his Palm into Outlook, and sync'd Outlook with the BB.  The only problem now seems to be that the calendar is not syncing over to the BB. Suggestions???
I have tried to sync setting configurations several different ways: to sync all or calendar only, to have Outlook override device, and two way.  Nothing will get the calendar over to the BB, although all his addresses and tasks are there now. Help!
    TIA,
    Michelle (for Chuck)

    Hi,
Outlook 2003 and desktop manager v.6 will be perfect!
Yes install the main email address on the Blackberry to match Outlook.
On the Blackberry you get a calendar for each email address you use.
Only one can be synchronized with the Outlook calendar.
You can go to Outlook, tools, email options and make sure of the default account.
Then on the Blackberry from the home screen, options, advanced options,
default services. Use the main email options CICAL is the calendar and CMIME is the email.
By placing them as default you then sync email address to email address calendars.
    Make sense?
Let me know if you need anything else!
    Thanks,

  • IGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard Driver for Curve 8330

I just got the IGO Stowaway Ultra-Slim, my Curve 8330 can see it under discovery, and asks for code, I type in 123 enter and 123 on the keyboard and no response,, I have been been following all sorts of links but no luck, The IGO Site (thinkoutside) is terrible and advises they have discontinued support for their keyboards..
HAS anyone been sucessful getting the two devices to link up?
If I don't get it to work, I am putting it back on EBAY,,,
    Thanks in advance
    D

    Hi...
In the quick setup here are the bullets....
    Configuring the keyboard:
    1. From the BlackBerry main screen, launch the Stowaway Keyboard application.
    2. Select Yes at the "Enable Bluetooth?" prompt.
    3. On some BlackBerry devices, when launching the Keyboard application, you may see an
"Insufficient Permissions" status. In this case, it is necessary to change the BlackBerry's
application permissions for the Stowaway keyboard application. The following permissions
must be set to "Allow": Bluetooth, Interprocess Communications, Device Settings,
Keystroke Injection, and Security Timer Reset. If any of these options are set to "Deny",,
the keyboard application will provide an "Application Permissions" button that will take you
directly to the Permissions screen. The options will have already been set correctly for you, you
need only Save them with the BlackBerry "Save" menu option. (Note: If a "Device Options"
button displays instead when you launch the Stowaway Keyboard application, you will be given
manual instructions for setting and saving these permissions.)
    4. Once the Application Permissions have been saved, place the keyboard in Discoverable
mode by simultaneously pressing the <Ctrl> <Left Fn> <Right Fn> keys on the Stowaway
Ultra-Slim Keyboard. This is indicated by the Keyboard Status Light (above the <T> key),
    flashing green once per second.
    5. Within the Stowaway application, select "Connect to Keyboard" from the menu.
    6. If prompted, enter the numeric-only passkey of (1-9 digits of your choosing) on the
BlackBerry device using the dialpad, and press the Trackball or Track Wheel button or the
    <Enter> button.
    7. Type the same passkey on the keyboard using <LFn+numbers> using the number row, and
press <Enter> on the Stowaway Ultra-Slim keyboard. If the passkey process succeeds, the
keyboard should be connected within a few seconds.
    8. You may receive a prompt to "Allow connection to a local port?". Select "Yes", and the
driver will be available for connecting to your Blackberry.

  • Dust under screen - Curve 8330

I've had my BB Curve 8330 for almost two months now and I love it expect I've noticed a lot of dust is collecting under the screen.  I've tried using compressed air to remove it but with little success.  I contacted my service provider (Alltel) about this and they told me they weren't aware that this was a problem.
Is anyone else having this problem?  Is there an easy way to remove the dust?  Thanks!

You need to open the phone and try to blow the dust or clean it with a wet towel. I think it would be better to go and get serviced.
