Frustrated at the moment!! This phone made an update on the Facebook Messenger and asked if i would reboot. After accepting the reboot the device freezes at the startup (The white bar reaches approx. 60% and freezes) i kept removing the battery but i keeps on freezing... WHAT TO DO??

Hello wiaanlr,
In this case we can try to reload the software on the BlackBerry® smartphone to make sure it is running the latest version and there are no issues with the OS.

  • Curve 8520 freezing on start up

    Hi,
    Can anyone help please.
My Curve 8520 is freezing on start up. What happened was my facebook app froze after I tried to log out so I decided to re-boot the phone and now it freezes 3/4s into the start up.
I have tried connecting with my desktop software, it is being recognised but not connecting fully so therefore I can't connect with any of the function ie restore.
I have tried to do a safe re-boot but it still sticks at the same point.
If anyone can help I'd be really grateful.
    Thanks

    Hello !
    Try the following:
Switch ON your BlackBerry and let your screen move upto loading.
Then plug in your device to the charger and leave it idol for atleast 3-4hours.
At times BlackBerry OS takes time to repair automatically because of which your device loading is taking time to move ahead from 3/4 loading bar.
Please have patience and it will be done.
    Hope this resolves your Problem!

  • Curve 8520- freezing and not functioning?

Before I went to bed last night my battery was 75% or more full, but when I woke this morning it was completely red and empty! Its never done this before, the battery has usually been quite good. Then I charged it only to find that it wouldn't function at all, and simply had the black clock/timer icon on all the time, even when it let me use messaging etc. I don't think this is just a battery problem, as I've had the problem with the clock/timer and the phone freezing before! I don't get it! Nothing in the support says anything about this. I tried taking the battery out etc but that hasn't helped.
Also, am I alone in finding that sometimes the 8520 just wants to work really slowly, with the clock/timer icon appearing every 5 seconds or so when typing texts etc?
Wish I'd never got this temperamental phone! Still have another year on the contract, lucky me!

All of today's smart phones are very similar to computers. They have RAM, a processor, a hard drive (Kinda!) and are subject to the same issues.
The clock timer appearing often is usually a sign that you have far too many open applications eating up your phone's available RAM. (The freezing is also associated!)
I've experienced this for a few reasons though: Loading a full sized web page, lots of open applications (this would explain your battery problem as well), or perhaps one application that is very memory intensive.
My suggestion is that when you are at the home screen of your phone, you hold down the menu key to see what you have open application wise. Shut down anything that is unnecessary and you should see an improvement in the performance of your device.
An additional note: Applications that send/receive a lot of data traffic are battery drainers. I have one in particular (The Hockey News) that will drain a full battery to nothing in a matter of a few hours if I leave it open simply because it constantly updates news articles, game scores, and other information. Just an example.
    Hope this helps!

  • Curve 8520 restarting the startup before completion - repeatedly

Please help - My daughter's keeps on restarting. It would start up with the Blackberry startup bar showing, run for about 115 seconds (about 5 millimeter) on the bar, switch off and then restart the process again. It would continue to do this for as long as there is a battery in it. According to what I've managed to find on the forums, I should re-install the OS, but, I can't get into the phone to do so. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
First I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
If that is not successful, then this article may be useful:

  • Curve 8520 keeps freezing and going to white screen

I recently had my curve replaced after the trackpad stopped working. Now my new curve keeps freezing when I'm on the internet, the screen will get white lines across it which gradually get bigger until the whole screen is white. A reboot doesn't work unless the phone is plugged into the charger and the problem never happens when the phone is on charge.
I've tried changing the browser settings so JavaScript isn't enabled, I've also reinstalled the software and finally decided to wipe my blackberry and restored it to the file i had saved from my old curve and I'm still getting the same problem.
I'm not sure whether it's linked to the battery as it also happens when making a call if the battery is low and when I reboot my curve after it's gone to a white screen the battery has usually dropped a few bars (usually from full to 2 bars)
If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated!

Could someone please help me. I have a blackberry 8520 and I recently accidentally put ONLY the keypad in the water but luckily I read that you have to keep it in the sun for 24 hours and it worked, next my charger port broke of then I got it fixed but right after I got it fixed every time I fully charge my phone or it have 2 or more bars in like 10 or 7mins it freezes and their are these lines then it goes into a white screen. I took the battery and put the batter back in the phone worked fine but then the battery went from full to battery drained shutting down?!? What do I do??

  • What is wrong with my Curve 8520? Please help!

I am having problems with my BB Curve 8520. v5.0.0.592
First the phone started freezing all the time and I had to do a battery pull to unfreeze it, and everytime after it restarted it got the Uncaught Exception: java.lang.error.
I uninstalled my BBM V6.1beta and my appworld 3 beta and installed the lastest official releases for them but it didn't fix the problem.
I then deleted all the apps that I installed recently and after installing Photo Editor Ultimate the java error stopped.
Right now the freezing is gone but now when I download pictures or songs, they don't show up anywhere on the phone. Not in the gallery and not in the file explorer. They only show up after I reboot my phone. Also when right now when I press the menue button, the menu at the left doesn't show, it only appears after I scrolled over every item in the menu, so basically it was invisible until I went up and down on the trackpad.
    What can be the problem?

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 not working correctly

My Blackberry Curve 8520 is not working correctly. It has worked on and off for about 2 days now.
The first thing to stop was the media files - at first it said the SD card was inserted, but couldn't find any files. I've tried repairing the card. Then it is said there was no card inserted. Have taken out and re-entered the card, and formatted it. It now says there is no card inserted again.
Also, Whatsapp and BBM are not working. I can open them, and can type a message, and press send, but no message actually sends.
Plus the screen keeps freezing, will only work again through a battery pull.
I've had the phone for about 3 months.
    Please help!

    Hello Sarahhelen,
I would suggest backing up and doing a clean reload of the BlackBerry® device software as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320. Please test before restoring any data to the device.
If this resolves the issue do a selective restore of essential data (Address Book, Calendar, Task, Memos, BBM contacts etc.)
How to use BlackBerry® Desktop Software to restore data to a BlackBerry® smartphone from a backup file
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10339.
If the issue still persists after the reload, further investigation might be required. To help further diagnose the cause, contact your wireless service provider or BlackBerry® Technical Support Services for further review and support.
    Thank you.

  • Email setup problems curve 8520

I am in Ireland so not sure what help I can get but I have a Blackberry curve 8520, I recently had to get a new one as my first one kept freezing, so as expected I had to setup up my email etc again, the only email option I have is the enterprise one, I have gone to advanced options and sent the registration message and it says my handheld is registered with the wireless network but I only have 2 things in my service book and when I went into the shop I bought it in they said there should be more than 2 options, that was a week ago, and still no change, can someone please help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It sounds like your mobile service provider has not properly shifted your BIS account from your old BB to your new one. I recommend that you go see them again, but this time don't let them fob you off...you PAY them for 100% of your services and 100% of your support...right now they are delivering neither.

  • Curve 8520 is total garbage

This co. has now been reduced to making junk phones. The Curve 8520 I "upgraded" to is junk compared to the simple Curve 8310 I had. The camera is garbage and takes terrible photos, the phone's ringer just stops working at random and requires a battery pull and reset to get it working again and the buttons on the keypad are flat making it difficult to type on. When I try to access photos I have taken - the phone freezes and needs a reboot. Lastly, the Blackberry AppStore is more like a NapStore - page after page of useless, boring, unimaginative applications - I get tired just writing about them.
At this rate Blackberry will be going the way of Nokia in the coming months/years. Here's another customer you've lost !!!!!!!!!!!

While this is a technical support section of the forum, I'll entertain your rant for a moment.
I as well as many others have never had a problem with that particular device. On the other hand in the making of anything it is natural to have flaws. Everything that is produced always has a human factor involved and as we all know humans are prone to error.
Simply complaining about your issues rather than asking for help with them will not help. There hundreds if not thousands of people who visit this forum everyday that can help you. Why not give it a shot? Who knows maybe we can help?

    Hi Solidbass,
You need to consider updating/reinstalling your device OS again.

  • Problems Setting up Email on Curve 8520

I'm not able to set-up email on my new curve 8520. I know that other people have posted about it before, but I still can't seem to get it working!
I have BIS and have already created a Blackberry ID. Whenever I go to email setup, the only option I'm presented with is "I want to create or add an email address" and when I click next it says "After you click Next teh Blackberry Internet Service setup application opens. After you finish setting up yruo email press the menu key and click close". On the next page , I'm asked for my username and password, and when I fill it in, I always get:
"The information you provided is incorrect. Retype your user name and pasword."
I know that my username and password are correct, as I've double checked them in BlackBerry App World, so the issue has to be coming from somewhere else.
I've contacted Vodafone several times, and RIM but no one has been able to give me a solution for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Heathermac, the username and password for setting up your email on your BIS account is NOT the same as your BlackBerryID... two very different and totally separate things.
You might want to make your BIS login the same as your BlackBerryID, that would be convenient and a good idea, but they are not the same. They are set up differently, and one does not carry over to the other.
