Curve 8520 - predictive text?

I have just upgraded to the BB 8520 Curve and I cant find predictive text anywhere?
Surely it must be there somewhere !

  • Curve 8520, 2 little things I would like to know.

    Hello everyone,
    I have a Black Berry Curve 8520 and I would like to know 2 things.
    First:
    I would like to know how to add a contact from a text message, like I just gave my number to my mate and he sends me a text how can I add his number to my contacts from his text ?
    Second:
    When some one sends me a text or calls, it comes up with there number not there name that I put as they are in my contacts, how can I make it come up with there name instead of the number because I never remember numbers ?

    I'm somewhat lost with this question or the way it was worded which isn't hard for me most of the time.
    You are able to connect with your laptop over the internet using your Blackberry to access files available on your laptop or are you referring to using the iPhone as an internet connection device for your laptop?

  • Can I use my Curve 8520 in Japan?

    I am a Curve 8520 user in Malaysia signed up with mobile provider Digi. Digi says I can roam in Japan but not sure whether the devise is usable in Japan. Please advise.

    I just used my iPhone 4S in Tokyo and Kyoto. (June 2013) It works perfectly on their CDMA system there, even though I am an AT&T (GSM) subscriber in the US.
    It seems that, unlike the earlier iPhone models, the 4S is both CDMA and GSM compatible.  Be careful though, unless you buy a Data Plan from Verizon before you leave the US, the use of their 3G internet access will be really expensive, if you enable "Data Roaming" while traveling there.  Also check to see if you can purchase an international calling plan that reduces the per-minute rate while traveling in Japan, before you depart.  Do the same for text messaging.

    Does the BB Curve 8520 download emails automatically?
    Does it make a sound (Low or High) when an email is received? (If downloaded automatically)
    I've just switched my tariff with O2 to a Blackberry Text & Web package so I'm hoping that is all I need...

  • Blackberry curve 8520 not working

    my blackberry curve 8520 will not send or receive sms and calls.  is there any way i can reformat the phone so i can start from scratch again.   i have tried everything else including asking my provider forn help but nothing helps

    Did you change anything or do anything on that date?
    My guess is there's little you'll be able to do on your end but it can't hurt to make a full backup using Desktop Software and then do the wipe and see what happens. Do you have another device you can put your sim card in and see if text messages show up?

  • BlackBerry Curve 8520 .. issues with alt and enter!!!!

    heyy!! my issue is a bit different. Before I used to hold alt down and use the character that i needed. Now i have to let go of the key and type. Its very annoying. I have tried wipe and master reboot!! Nothing works..  Also to top it all.. my enter key doesnt work... im constantly texting and bbm'in but i can't use enter I have to use the centre button!!! im soo frustrated. my phone is out of warranty...  .. im very upset.. i used to be in love with my phone!! its a curve 8520

  • My Blackberry Curve 8520 turns itself off, lock and get a white screen.

    Whenever I'm making a connection, it starts to give strange noises during the call and ends up shutting down completely. When I try to turn it on again, it starts loading the OS, when the progress bar loads halfway, he gets the white screen and locks up completely, making it impossible to use again. The Blackberry only back to work only when connected to the battery charger. I hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance. The text can be somewhat meaningless, because I'm from Brazil and translated using Google Translator.

    I would suggest first testing your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone with another battery to rule out any issue with the battery itself.
    If you have the same issues when using another battery, please try to back up your data using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software.

  • "e" Button not working on Curve 8520

    Hi,
    I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520 (V4.6.1.272), and all of a sudden my "e" button does not work anymore. This has happened before (however, the last time was a couple of months ago) and back then it just fixed itself after a few minutes. But its been 3 days now and nothing I try works. Not the number 2, letter "e", capital "E" or anything like that works.
    Firstly, I didnt drop the phone or spill any fluids on it (as far as I know). Secondly, I've done a few things as suggested on other support sites including rebooting the phone (took battery out while the phone was on) about 10 times now. But that didnt work. I also tapped the keypad around the "e" key and blew in it just incase there was a bit of dust stuck under the key, but still nothing.
    Earlier I did a backup and was ready to do a complete Wipe. However, to confirm the wipe I had to type the word "blackberry"! So, needless to say, I couldn't continue because there's a **bleep** "e" in the word blackberry!!!
    I also cant take it back to my service provider (MTN - South Africa) because they'll send it right back without touching it or replacing it due to a little physical damage. (I've had the phone for around 20 months now and the convenience keys on the sides fell out because I probably used it too much or perhaps its just not durable enough.) Nevertheless, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because I really cant go on like this for another 4 months until Im eligible for an upgrade!!
    Please let me know what I can do to fix this. I absolutely love Blackberry and even the downtime didnt frustrate me as much as this. Its driving me up the wall and if I dont find a solution soon, im afraid i might just throw it off a cliff!

    I was texting this morning and suddenly my "e" key didnt work.. didnt think much about it.  made my calls and went to work.  Then it hit me .. i have a password on my phone to stop me from butt dialing everyone.. and the password is wewe and guess what.. me "e" button doesnt work.. so now what.. was not around water.. pulled my battery.. and nothing..   • Blackberry Curve 8520 MMS problem

    Hello!
    Is anyone out there having this problem with a Blackberry Curve 8520?
    My carrier is T-Mobile
    Unlimited TEXT MESSAGING and MMS.
    We upgraded to 2 Blackberry curve 8520 and had old MOTOROLA RAZR phone before.
    With the Motorola and UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGING with MMS, we were able to send pictures to other people via MMS. After upgrading to the Blackberry Curve 8520, we can no longer send pictures via MMS. When sending a picture via MMS, it sits there with the CLOCK and gets an X after a while. I even called T-Mobile and Blackberry and they have opened up a ticket. We were able to send pictures with the Motorola phones without a DATA PLAN and just with the UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGING and MMS. There's gotta be others out there with this problem. I don't believe it that Blackberry opened up a ticket and don't have a fix for it.

  • Curve 8520 - Constant Loading Icon

    Hey,
    I own a BlackBerry Curve 8520, and whenever I'm doing simple things such as texting, i'll type a few letters and will have to wait for ages until the loading icon goes off. It's happened for a while and is getting **bleep** annoying now. Any advice?

    Go to Options>Memory and see what your app memory free space is. That would be the place to start.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8520 Battery life issue and Loading icon

    Hello, I have an issue with my BlackBerry Curve 8520, the problem is that it has extremely low battery life and half the time it has the loading circle thing in the middle, I first thought it was my batteries fault but after buying a new battery the loading circle thing still comes up but not as much but the battery life is still extremely low (locked or on standby whatever its called it lasts around 2-3 hours, Ive turned off my bluetooth and the problem still remains please help!

    So, what was the outcome of the troubleshooting session with "windycity"?
    I don't have a problem with a mysterious icon; however, the anemic battery issue is exactly as windycity described: new charged-up Samsung Haven phone is on; no calls in or out; no text messages either; however, in slightly less than 24 hours, the Haven goes from having a fully-charged battery to one that's dead, or just about.
    Like windycity, I bought this simple phone for my father, who just wants a phone he can make voice calls with, nothing more.
    However, the sad peformance of this phone+battery has not helped me in my campaign to at least get him to dip his toes into the digital stream -- in fact, he wants me to take it back and cancel the plan!
    I'd really rather not do that, but we'll need some kind of resolution to this problem first.

  • Key Pad Problem with my Curve 8520 & the HIGH COST of owning a BB

    I used to keenly watch RIM and its progress and how it created a niche for itself and how it started successfully fighting the goliaths who were entering into this niche. 
    This love culminated in me buying a Curve 8520  through Airtel, my GSM service provider against the wishes of my wife. I paid a huge (per my standards) Rupees (Rs) 12500 for the instrument.
    This Monday, while I was responding to a text message I realised that 2 of the keys ( R & H)  are not responding. I thought this is a temporary glitch and I switched off and switched on to realise that this has not changed. Added to the problem was that the faulty key is part of the PIN and the device cannot be activated.
    I contacted my service provider who quoted  Rs 7000 for repairing the key. Since I am maintaining a strict diet and a healthy lifestyle I did not get a cardiac arrest though I could feel a numbness in my head when I heard the estimate.
    When I told the person on the other side of the phone that this is unfair...He also agreed and said that many customers have complained about the high cost of ownership and that RIM might reduce their prices in Jan 2012.. But I can't hold on without using the instrument till jan 2012
    Now I remember that my car (Ford Fiesta) was also bought during the same month as my BB phone. Let me confess that I have not spend even Rs 3000 on maintaining that car so far despite me driving  80 kilometers 5 days a week..
    My Request:
    Sorry for the rambling...Coming to my request.
    I cannot afford to spend Rs 7000 for a repair and I expect RIM to do this free (why should key pad of a carefully used phone fail in 14 months) or a maximum of Rs 500. While I love the features and by now I am sort of addicted to this pet of mine, I am also practical enough to realise that I should not spend out of my means.....So I will have to switch back to a normal phone....
    Is there any other way out ?

    OK, it may not be a powered USB socket on the PC. You will need to check you have the right driver. One way to check the connection is in the settings in the BB under memory there is a mass storage mode support which needs ot be on and the auto enable mass storage mode when enabled when connected. This will usually allow you to see the BB like a external hard drive or camera in windows explorer when you connect it.
    If that fails check in the PC device manager for an appropriate device with a problem - usually has a yellow exclamation mark next to it

  • 6280 - Cant turn Predictive Text on

    I can't work out how to turn on Predictive Text. Elsewhere on this forum people have written about selecting "options" when writing a text message but there are no options for Predictive text that I can see.
    Firmware 3.60 on Vodaphone. 2nd phone due to first being faulty.
    Any Ideas? Is there a hidden function somewhere? Like pressing and holding the left function key during text input turns the t9 dictionary on/off

    i live in holland, and i got my 6280 from a store that specialises in their own deals with subscriptions with network providers. i don't know if such stores exist in the UK, but there are many here in holland. their offers are often much better than any of the network providers (e.g. vodafone, t-mobile,e tc.).
    thanks for the suggestion. i'll get in touch with them and post my findings here. just too busy lately.

  • Problems Setting up Email on Curve 8520

    I'm not able to set-up email on my new curve 8520. I know that other people have posted about it before, but I still can't seem to get it working!
    I have BIS and have already created a Blackberry ID. Whenever I go to email setup, the only option I'm presented with is "I want to create or add an email address" and when I click next it says "After you click Next teh Blackberry Internet Service setup application opens. After you finish setting up yruo email press the menu key and click close". On the next page , I'm asked for my username and password, and when I fill it in, I always get:
    "The information you provided is incorrect. Retype your user name and pasword."
    I know that my username and password are correct, as I've double checked them in BlackBerry App World, so the issue has to be coming from somewhere else.
    I've contacted Vodafone several times, and RIM but no one has been able to give me a solution for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Heathermac, the username and password for setting up your email on your BIS account is NOT the same as your BlackBerryID... two very different and totally separate things.
    You might want to make your BIS login the same as your BlackBerryID, that would be convenient and a good idea, but they are not the same. They are set up differently, and one does not carry over to the other.

  • Is there a way to add/delete words from the predictive text ?

    Is there a way to add/delete words from the predictive text options that my iPhone is giving me? I'm using an iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.
    There are specific words that are popping up in the area right above the keyboard where it displays 3 word suggestions to choose from. This area seems to suggest words that I have typed before, I'd like to remove these words. Default seems to select the word in the center and when I'm typing fast on occasion it will recommend and select words that I don't need to use.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank youI would suggest upgrading to a supported version of the database. 9i has been unsupported for many many years now.
