Is it possible to install a more recent OS on my Blackberry Curve 8520 smartphone OS4.6.1? Can it support a 7.1?

Yes you can Install and use the most recent version of BlackBerry Desktop Software for you device , you can download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software .

When I select an application in the main menu (calendar, contacts, etc), if I press "options" the device ts sends me to "Home Screen Preferences" page which has never happende before. I tried a battery pull but that hasnt worked. I gather this is a problem other have had too - PLEASE HELP:

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

Problem with my blackberry curve 8520 smartphone

Since few days ago, the keyboard of my blackberry is not responding again and when i enlight the phone this is the message which appear: App error 523 reset
I need your help to solve this problem please.

See if you can boot the device into safe mode. Remove the battery. While holding down the back key reinsert the battery. Continue to hold the back key for another 20 seconds. The device will then boot into safe mode. If it boots up then you'll want to delete all third party apps or whatever you might have installed that caused the problem. If it doesn't boot up then here is KB that gives instructions on what to do:

I have curve 8520 with os5, yesterday I downgrade for os4 using DM but I don't like it so I want to reinstall os5 but I can't.
please how can I upgrade my os to version5 again.

Sorry to hear you are having an issue with your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone and Wi-Fi® connections.
Since you do not have the Internet Browser as an option, it would seem your BlackBerry data plan does not include browsing.
You will want to contact your mobile carrier to ensure you have a browsing plan. Once it is activated and the service books are pushed down, you will then have the option to change the browser.

Curve 8520 crashes alot and shows a white screen

I bought my bb in may. Now since a week ago it sometimes crashes the screen turns green and purple and it fades to white. I have to take out my battery and charge it without. Then when the sign of no battery shows I put it back in. When I reboot my bb without taking out the battery first it gets stuck in the process.
But the BB keeps on crashing, and the amount of crashes increase...
help me please?

It would be advised you backup your user data using BlackBerry® Desktop Software and reinstall your software as shown in KB11320 How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows or KB19915 Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer
Before essential data is restored to your Curve, check to make sure you test the performance to ensure the screen is normal. Should the screen still display the alternate colours it would be advised you contact your point of sale for hardware related repairs.

Blackberry Curve 8520 OS 4 Remove Speed Dialing Code

Hi i have an older Blackberry 8520 OS 4 which i am trying to remove the "1" dialing code
Instructions for newer OS say to change the "Country Code" in "Smart Dialing" to a chosen country or "unknown"
This is in the newer OS and Bold 9900
In OS 4 I can find no such setting
Can someone please help me find it

and also when i boot my phone up i just get a white screen with a black clock soinning around in the middle of it whitch takes ages ive had 5 blackberrys and never had this problem before as when i had my bold i ust toget the blackberry bar n cud c it booting up =(

Curve 8520 wont load up

my battery went dead on my 8520 and now wont load up it crashes whilst its loading up the start up screen anything i can do to solve this??

If the BlackBerry® Desktop Software is able to connect with your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone, please take a backup of your data then perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software.

My Blackberry Curve 8520 turns itself off, lock and get a white screen.

Whenever I'm making a connection, it starts to give strange noises during the call and ends up shutting down completely. When I try to turn it on again, it starts loading the OS, when the progress bar loads halfway, he gets the white screen and locks up completely, making it impossible to use again. The Blackberry only back to work only when connected to the battery charger. I hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance. Blackberry curve 8520 OS5

Hi my bb smartphone sometimes just go blank if I'm watching a movie or just serve the web I thought if I do I wipe it would be better but not its does the same thing even if I'm busy downloading something on ucbrowser or any other browser don't know what to do anymore if anyone can help plz its coursing problems help plzzzzzzzz...

Back up to PDF document from Curve 8520.

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520 Smartphone. Is it possible to back up device data such as the phone log to a PDF or other readable document? It does not appear to be possible after the back up, as I can not open those files (BlackBerry IPD files). I would like to keep a record of calls that were recieved by my phone.

There is no supported way to read the IPD files, the only supported way to view the information would be to have it restored back to the BlackBerry smartphone.
