Curve 8520 unlock - unlocking code "ME-Code" required

Hi,
I have an old but working Curve 8520.
It was used as prepaid mobile in Germany. Now after 2years time, I can unlock the mobile officially by sending the IMEI Number and getting a 16 diget code back.
After entering the "new" SIM card Curve 8520 is now asking for a ME-CODE !!
I tlaked to the store people but nobody seems to able to help.
The unlock code i recieved seems not to be the ME-CODE to unlock my BB
Any feedback is more than welcome
Cheers from Germany
Best
Marco

Sorry, in 1o years of using a BlackBerry, unlocking my own devices and helping others, I have never heard of a "ME-Code".
I would suggest you contact your mobile provider and inquire.
Or, try another SIM card.

  • Unlock my blackberry Curve 8520: Enter service provider mep code (0) left

    Good afternoon,
A few days ago I bought a BB Curve 8520 from a friend but the phone says:
"enter service provider mep code (0) left"
Is it possible to fix this problem?
    Regards,
    Julian

Someone tried too many bad attempts to enter an unlock code in the device.
After the ten attempts have been used, you must get RIM to unlock the device.
There are two routes, and only two, to achieve this.
    * IF your device is in warranty, contact your service provider technical support. Tell them you have this issue which needs to be escalated to RIM level customer support. I'll warn you that most carrier technical support people will first assume and think you are referring to a device security unlock, and you will need to convince them otherwise and explain clearly what you need. THEY will not be able to help you because the carriers themselves cannot unlock a device which has had the MEP code attempts depleted, and should (and you will need to ask) to have the case escalated to RIM level tech support.
    * If your device is out of warranty, contact RIM direct. See the Contact Us information from the website: http://ca.blackberry.com/contact/ The options you want to select to speak to BlackBerry Customer Care are 3 (for inquiries, orders, billing, e-RMA etc) then 5 (e-RMA and Out of Warranty).
    Make sense? Good luck.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8520 - in need of unlocking code

I want to unlock my BB Curve 8520, so that I can use it in Europe with a local sims card when
    visiting family, etc.
Anybody any idea how to do that??
I asked ATT, but they told me I had to go to RIM to get this............  RIM says I have to to my carrier
    to get this................
    Thanks for quick responses!

Did you buy the device from AT&T? Do you have an account with them?
They should give you the unlock code for free, tell them you are traveling internationally and need it.
The local reps in the store likely can't help you. Call ATT direct.
There is no real VoIP for BlackBerrys yet, other than Google Voice.
and UMA calling which ATT does not offer.

If you have used up all of your chances to enter the correct unlock code, there is nothing further you can do. Even if you happen to have now the correct code, it is useless. Only the factory can now (legally) unlock your BB. Typically, I've heard that the cost of having BlackBerry do this for you will be greater than the cost of just buying a new one. But, you are able to ask them...see here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/programs/technical/incident.jsp
Note, however, that this process will start with a fee...
If you obtained your unlock code from somewhere but it was incorrect, your recourse could be with them -- however, they may well question why you exhausted all 10 attempts before contacting them.
If your BB was already MEP locked and you obtained it from a source that represented it as being able to be unlocked, then your recourse would be with the seller you obtained it from.
    Good luck!

  • Curve 8520 no longer requests unlock password

    Hi there,
I have had my Curve 8520 for almost 4 years now and today all of a sudden the password to unlock my device no longer appears. I am unsure as to why this has happened but does me no favors because now anyone can get into it. I have tried disabling it and re-enabling it but with no luck.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK thank you. Please understand that what I'm trying to do is properly understand your situation...if I misunderstand it, I could potentially give you incorrect advice, some of which could be quite catastrophic indeed. So my understanding of your actual and full situation is critical to preventing that from happening.
So something has changed on your BB to change how it was previously working. Since you are not on BES, it then typically would be Content Protection or Encryption...with those turned ON, you must have a device lock password assigned. Since you can't recall anything that changed, we will then first treat this as "random strange behavior"...
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Good luck!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
There is only one legal way to unlock a BB...refer:

Please refer to this official download portal as you proceed. It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.

    hossam55 wrote:

If your BB is properly unlocked, there is no (legal) software you can install that would re-lock it. Likewise, there is no (legal) software you can install to unlock it. Only the above procedure or the BlackBerry factory can do that (legally).
    Good luck!

  • Curve 8520 keypad randomly unlocks

My wife has just started using a Curve 8520 and has had it for less than 1 month. In the past few days, they phone has started unlocking itself randomly. She's using the 'A' button to lock the keypad at which point the screen goes off (as I believe it should) and then after a minute or so, it unlocks itself and the screen comes back on.
Can anyone suggest something we might have missed, or a reason for this behaviour?
    Cheers!

As far as I'm aware you're referring to the passcode. It seems that you've forgot the passcode that you've inserted, so your best bet is to connect your iPod to iTunes and have it restored back to factory settings. You'll be able to find the restore button by clicking on your iPod's name that's located right below the "Device's Tab."

  • Help required with upgrading to OS5 on curve 8520

    Hello everyone,
I'm using an unlocked version of the bb curve 8520 and want to upgrade my bb device os to v5.0. (current version- 4.6.1)
I tried using the application loader on the bb website (NA & India both) but it just tells me that my OS is updated and that i will be notified if there are any updates available. I would be really grateful if someone could help me update my os.

    Hello,
Your warranty is not endangered. You are free to use any carriers OS package on your BB. Your carrier may, however, refuse to provide you with support (including Warranty evaluation/service) until you fall back to their supported device OS level. But your warranty per se is not endangered.
    Good luck!
