Curve 8530 track pad

I have had my 8530 since February of this year and the track pad is peeling.  I don't have long fingernails so I was wondering if anyone else had that problem?  I called Verizon and was told this issue may not be under warranty and I might have to pay to have the track pad replaced.  Does anyone know how much it would cost to replace the track pad or should I just bail and get the droid? I really like the purple color though....sigh

I have a 9650 through Verizon with the same problem.  My phone was new in July.  I called them and reported the problem yesterday.  They are sending a refurbished phone as a warranty replacement of the original.

  • Blackberry Curve 8530 track pad only works on the main screen

    I have a blackberry curve 8530 and the track pad will only work on the main screen.  I have removed the battery and let it sit for 2 minutes before re-installing it again, the track pad started working but only for about 30 seconds and it back to the same thing.
    Any suggestion?

  • Blackberry Curve 8530 - Track Pad is Frozen!

    I went to check my phone last night and I couldnt get it to turn on. The only way is to take the battery out and put it back in. Then the home screen pops up with Unlock, Emergency and Cancel screen like normal (because I have a password) but then the track pad and none of the bottons work so im stuck on that page with no way to get out.
    I've tried plugging it in to the charger and i've tried pugging it in to my desktop manager but seems to work?!
    Would anyone have a solution for this? Or is there a phone number i could call to get someone to help me fix this??

    Have you tried reinserting your battery?
    If so, try reloading your device software using one of the methods listed in the following article:

    If it still fails to resolve the issue you may need to contact your point of sale for options.

  • Curve 9300 Tracker Pad problems

    Hi, 
    For some months now ive been experiencing problems with my curve 9300 tracker pad. It freezes and wont scroll. I have to restart my phone countless times before. i always ger an error which reads 'Uncaught exception: java.lang.Error".... Can i have a permanent solution as its getting frustrating?

    Welcome to the Community
    Seems your handheld is getting hanged that is why your trackpad stucks ferquently. Please try by deleting 3rd party apps using below mentioned procedure...
    Menu (Blackberry Sign) from home screen > select maximise panel > Option > Security > Security Wipe > Select Only 3rd party app > Type blackberry in given space and click on wipe.

    I have a curve 9300 and the track pad has stopped working it lets me move around fine but when i click to open things nothing happends its just stopped working ive only had  the handset  around a month im wondering is there anyway to resolve the problem and get it working again or do i need to send it some where to get fixed?

    Pull the battery out with the device ON. Wait about a minute and put the battery back in. Let the BB completely restart and see if that doesn't help. Clears out the memory and refreshes the BB; like rebooting your pc. 
    When you have anomalous behavior in your BB a battery pull often helps to clear it up too.

  • 8530 Track Pad and E buttone not working, also lines in photos.

    Device info
    Your carrier: SPRINT
    Model info and OS version: Curve 8530 5.0 Bundle 1675 (just upgraded)
    Apps and free space
    File free before and after a battery remove/replace. (Go to Settings, then Options, then status): 106575952
    Did a battery pull fix your issue?: No
    Apps installed and their version if possible. (Go to Settings, then Options, then applications): None
    BT device model/version (you will have to look at the BT device): None
    Scroll pad works on and off, will not work on some menus.  E key will work sometimes, usualt types an upper case E and not a lower case, will not type 2 E's in a row.  Works ok when typing a 2.  There were some other buttons giving issues a while ago and then it all went away and now this just started again out of nowhere.  I tried backing up / wiping the phone, upgraded to the latest software and it is still giving me issues.  The phone has never been exposed to any sort of moisture, I don't even use it in the rain.
    Another issue, possibly related, possibly not is that I get 1 vertical line and 1 horizontal line in my photos I take.  This started out happening sometimes and not other times but now it is constant.

    Is the phone still under warranty? If so, I'd contact Sprint as this sounds like its probably a hardware issue (especially if updating the software didn't help). If the phone isn't under warranty any more, let us know and we'll see if there is anything we can come up with that could help.

    My tracker pad has stopped working....cant toggle at all! It is driving me nuts! 2e-mails and 2 texts which can be read on a phone that is only 2 months old!! its driving me MAD!  Please help

  • Track pad on Curve 9300 malfunctioning

    Hi I recently got my first Blackberry, the Curve 9300 about a month ago. It's been perfect up until a few days ago when the track pad started to act strangely. It's getting worse and worse. If i'm trying to scroll down, it'll scroll up, etc. I've tried taking the battery out and reloading it, i've tried changing the settings and nothing seems to be working. Help please!! I've only had it a month!

  • 1 1/2 days old and already a problem with track pad on bb 8530

    Took a big step on saturday and bought cell phones for my girlfriend and I, neither of us had a cell phone and both of us needed one for work. being that we wanted phones with e-mail and loads of other gadgets the 8530 sounded like a winner. I once had a bb pearl, ran over it with a tractor and i could indeed still place calls. Although it couldnt do much else. This experience and my experience with the pearl before this experience sold me on the phone once again. After 1 1/2 days after activation the track pad selecter switch on her phone will not work. We were already levid to find that there is no skype app on a blackberry to which we were told there was by our vendor (sprint) and now this has happened. A company i had so much admoration for there quality of software and hardware is letting me down. I was quoted as saying "its a blackberry ya dont need insurance" So now i ask my self who is dictating the prices for the pos transister radios because i dont understand where 4 houndred some odd dollars cant buy some quality control.  This is my gripe and my question is what can someone do about this because problem. I thought I had bought the best ya could buy.

    Since your BlackBerry is only a few days old, I would reccomend to speak with you point of sale and see what they might be able to do for the trackpad issue.
    As for Skype on the BlackBerry, there is no applications that Research in Motion makes specifically for the BlackBerry. You can take a look in BlackBerry App World and see if there is an application that will work for you.

  • Track pad won't stop scrolling

    I have a BlackBerry Curve 9300 about 2 years old. Running OS6. This weekend I started having problems with the track pad. After cleaning it, several battery pulls and trying some other "fixes", my track pahd will not stop scrolling on it's own. Any thougts on what I can try?? Had to revert to my 8310 to get by......

  • The track pad buttom not working

    Hey everyone,
     I have a BB curve, and for some reason the track pad  just stopped working. I am very gentle with my
    BB and I don not really understand what could possibly happened. It is completely frozen on the left up side of the screen on the " search" option ( the hand lenses icon).
    I already turned it off-on and I also removed the battery , and  it is still in the same position.
    I can receive calls, and make calls using the speed dial letter/pad. What can I do/try?

    I would suggest changing the sensitivity options for the track pad on the BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300 smartphone: Go to Options>Typing and Language>Trackpad Sensitivity.  Once the sensitivity is changed, test it to make sure the issue is resolved.

  • Optical track pad not working

    Right now I am in Florida USA. I had purchased my blackberry curve in India. I think my phone is in warranty.
    Its optical track pad (which i liked most in it) has stopped working completely.
    I dont know how and where to proceed to get it repaired / replaced if in warranty.
    Can you please provide the info?
    Also is there any blackberry customer care helpline to call on or contact for the same issue?

    I would say that depends in part whom your carrier is, here.
    I use Sprint, and they have 2 kinds of stores: sales only, and repair shops. In the latter, they have trained technicians who will assess the phone, and decide if it needs to be sent in for repairs or replacement. Then you will either receive it back repaired, or replaced with a new one.
    This presumes that it is under warranty. You must not "think" that it is,  you must know that it is. I hope you bought the replacement insurance, as well. For a nominal monthly fee, unless you do something like halfway flush it down a commode, they will repair or replace, regardless of its age. Mind you, the cost used to be $50.00 and now is $100.00. It is not free to do this. That is assuming it is out of the original warranty range.
    How this works, when you bought it in one continent, and are on another, I have no idea.
    I suggest you start by asking your local carrier, whomever you use.

  • MBP keyboard and track pad not working

    Today the keyboard and track pad on our mac book pro laptop just stopped working. The mouse connected to it by usb continued to work but we can't type or anything. We tried the ^F6 keyboard shortcut but it did nothing since of course the keyboard isnt working. And it is also not the number lock key. The computer was working fine all day up until now. It is just under a year old. Any ideas?

    I'm having the same problem. It appeared yesterday and then magically "repaired" itself. My MBP was fine today. Tonight the problem is back. No response from the keyboard and track pad. Track pad works fine using a USB mouse. My problem appears at start up. The cursor is in the usual upper left hand corner. It can't be moved. Restart, sleep then restart do not solve the problem.
    Suggestions?
